I have the nexus 6 5 months now and there is still nothing from google or any dev about slow motion video capture. Its a pitty that our device is capable of it but we cant use it, i was reading in a post a commend of a dev that said it takes time for a dev to make an camera app with slomo for our device and if aome one would try to make one he didnt want to give it for free. Well im really willing to donate for something like that, no offense to the forum or devs but i really want an app that captures 120 or 240 fps slomo. Im sure there are more out there like me who would donate for something like this. Or maybe is there any rom with an other camera that has that capability?
Lcamera supports it for the N5 but since the dev doesn't have a N6 he can't do anything. In theory it should work but he can't test it. I too miss it from my DROID days.
There are other apps too but the one I have only does 30fps

Gallus.
Currently 30fps is the max N6 can do. Lcamera crops the sensor into 4th so in theory we could do 120fps @ 1080p

however there is no app that is giving us this future. I am checking some camera comparisons on yourube and I see that our nexus 6 has a super camera (spec wise) but the app is keeping it behind. I really would be happy to port a camera on it which could give me some of those futures....
I'm currently setting up my build env to see if I can get Lcamera's mod working on the N6.

Very cool to hear - I've been checking in on the lcamera github to see if someone picked it up for the N6! Saw your name in there too.. :good:
I wish you good luck, please let us know if you need someone to test out lib or apks
Its really disappointing for me that the google camera doesnt have slomo or cant capture 1080p 60fps... its one of the best phones out there...

With a bunch of new phones with 5 megapixel cameras coming out, that can also take 720p video. I was wondering if it would be possible for our hero to take 720p video?
Please do tell what other phones are coming out with 720p video recording other then the nexus? which does keep in mind have a snapdragon processor which is definitely better then ours!

Not by much though.
You know, I honestly don't know if ours could or not. I mean they both are 5MP. The only thing I can think of would be a driver that is needed to support 720p.

those cameras that can reach 720p are qdsp6 cameras. ours are qdsp5. The highest i think we can get would probably be 480p, which i almost have working on my aosp rom. just need to do some more kernel hacking to actually get it to record properly (turns into a green jumbled mess when replaying it)

dude, even the verizon droid and the droid incredible have the capabilities of going as high as 720p. thats is a paraphrase of what the dev who got 720p working on nexus one said.
pretty much every android phone to come out after ours has that capability
So is this something that is coming up?

dammit haha. We missed it But anyway, I've been thinking, and now that you're hacking the hell out of the Hero and giving it all new features, there is really no reason to upgrade now when my contract is up. I'm just going to stick with my Hero until it breaks.
Hi everyone
Not got my N4 yet, ordered yesterday though.
Found this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XraA3-8t2M4&feature=relmfu
Looks a bit better than it used to be. Can anyone who actually already has one of these confirm the smoothness of 1080p video capture?
Yup the latest OTA had a fix for the camera.
That does seem a lot less janky than before - I'll be recording at 720p anyway as I have an 8GB Nexus on the way. If that's the speed of 1080p, I'm very optimistic about 720p with the OTA.
It was NEVER an issue.
The app used the wrong camera mode that locked to 22fps.
The sensor itself is capable.

Yet on other videos the audio sounds amazing, unless they are shooting the video with the N4 and recording their voice with a professional mic outside which seems hightly unlikely

Im sure you can turn that feature off? Im using iPhone 4 atm waiting for my N4 and its fine
Also, YouTube has a feature where it does video stabilization which makes still images wavy..
What specs does the N6 offer in turns of slow motion video capturing?
Bump. I have the same question. Seems that none of the reviews explored the camera settings. Any update on this?
Everything I have seen has said that it takes video at 30fps
As far as I know, slow motion requires more frames per second. So I'm thinking that's a no on slow-mo. I could be wrong though.
The only spec i see is 4k @30fps.
I hope the stock camera app will allow for 1080P or 720P at either 60, 120, or 240fps. This is really a make or break decision for me, but seeing as though there are no frame rate specs for the other resolutions yet I will probably just have to buy it and see. I'm sure the devs will have at it if it does not come factory, although I hope it comes stock.
I found this quote at techtimes.com, If true I hope for at least 720p @60fps+
"The Google Nexus 6 uses a 13-megapixel rear camera with OIS (opitcal image stabilization), dual-LED flash, autofocus, 4K video recording @ 30 fps, 1080p video @ 30 fps, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera."

I don't know if this video is legit, but here's a youtube video supposedly shot by the Nexus 6, 1080p @ 120 fps:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aq7XPDsnuXk
i'm sure that video is fake. There is no proof that the video came from a nexus 6, let alone any mobile device.
Once the embargo is lifted on the 12th we'll all know 100% about the camera I suppose

The snapdragon 805 is capable of slow motion video. Even if it isn't available out of the box, which I kind of suspect it will be, I wouldn't be surprised to see some enterprising developer figure out a way to make it happen.

Agreed. Since the api allows for developers to gain access to it like never before I'm sure it's only a matter of time before we see it. If I'm not mistaken the one plus one phone has slowmo recording and it uses the same camera. It's just something that needs to be implemented in the software.

Even the reviewers in many of the reviews that came out yesterday seemed surprised at how basic the camera app on the N6 is. RAW capture is the big new thing with L but the camera app doesn't capture it. Either Google has a big update in store or developers will find their own way. There have already been numerous example improvements shown with lcamera.
Anyone with a device in hand yet try any 3rd party camera apps?
You have to remember the guy who posted about the api'$ and taking raw pics it was with nexus 5 and a camera app he wrote ... won't be long b
efore some apps have it though i am sure
Here is his git hub so his camera can be used
https://github.com/PkmX/lcamera/
Here is the write up
http://www.androidauthority.com/nexus-5-lollipop-camera-api-samples-540858/
since it has the same camera as the one plus, would installing the camera apk from it possibly bring slowmo recording or will it have to be written into the frame working?

Double Bump. The answer to this question is what will decide whether I buy a nexus 6 or a note 4.
---------- Post added at 10:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:36 PM ----------
Can someone with a nexus 6 try the app 'Open Camera' by Mark Harman (hopefully not the actor ) and hit the settings (gear) icon, Photo and video settings, Video frame rate, change it to 60 or 120 and then record a video. In theory this should bump the video up to a higher frame rate and then playback should be slow motion. Just a guess here but it is worth a try. Also I doubt this app is using the new 5.0 APIs so it may not be a true test.
Edit: better yet try this app that is designed for the 5.0 API. https://github.com/PkmX/lcamera

Cool suggestion; just tried the Open Camera app and video recorded at 720p with 120 FPS enabled but the playback appeared normal on device. I'm going to try and run the video on my PC and see if I can find if it actually recorded in 120. I'll also try that other app and get back to you.

Cool! Keep me informed.
I tried the open camera as well as that L camera, I was able to change the framerate in the settings but it still records at 30 fps so no luck there sadly! I really hope we can get a slow motion app working someday, it's an awesome tool from time to time.

I think that screenshot is camera for hydrogen os. Anyway I hope by slow motion you mean 60 or 120 fps recording of it is the case, great work but don't you think you should put some recording for marketing ? And what's all this pm and secrecy stuff
If you deliver on your promise and put it on the play store, then users will buy it.

Lol.. I'm glad you searched and found a half usable camera, however mine uses libs and corrected files for better performance... It'll be available soon...
Hello.
So I have a question about Huawei P9 Lite camera... I want 60fps, I know, lets say for resolution, thats a hardware problem, it has pixels for resolution just up to 1080, but that doesn't bother me, I want to know if there is any way to get 60fps on 1080 or perhaps 120 on 720 or the other way around. I know I have slowmotion future in menu, but it records at 480p I think or even worse.
Is it option to readjust camera drivers for 60fps and how, I am prepared to help with development of driver, I am computer engineer and I got some knowledge, but never focused on cameras much, but now I started to do short movies and video production and editing and I see problem of missing 60fps on phone, but cameras for that are expensive.
If anyone is prepared to help or knows anything about it, feel free to reply ??
Try the APP OpenCamera and use or don't use API2 and set the fps to 60.
What is API2?
I enabled all, but it doesnt work as it should
