I just received a text via MightyText on my computer but when I looked at my phone, there is no sign I received that text. I called and verified with the person who sent the text and it was indeed sent at that very moment..
Has anyone experienced this before? I have this happen in group texts as well. People will start chatting up a random conversation that I have no idea where it came from. I ask my friends later that day and I missed the original group MMS text that explains the follow up group messages.
Do you have T-Mobile?

About two weeks ago I couldn't receive any texts, I could send them because my friends would respond back and my Google voice shows that it had to of gone through for them to respond, but on my phone it won't retrieve it. The weird part is if someone sends me a photo or a group message I can receive it, but individual texts won't come in. I called sprint and they said nothing is wrong with my phone, they're going to call a engineer to check out where the problem is.

You probably need to clear out the data and cache. You could also try re-installing Google voice. The reason you receive the texts with photos is because those are handled by your messaging app not by Google voice. Voice only handles txt messages not mms. you also need to check the voice settings. Your settings could be set up to have the message app handle txt messages and not the Google voice app.
So I just got my Moto X and its pretty awesome. My previous phone was an iPhone 3GS and I really liked iMessage but I figured that now since Android supports group sms I would take the plunge. However, after doing my first group message today I was only able to see 1 of my contact's text messages while everyone elses messages just never reached me (I guess in text message limbo).
All of the people I messaged were iPhone users (5 and 5s). Is this just a blip or just a common problem that I will have to deal with for the next 2 yrs (which I dont really want to deal with, all of my friends are iPhone users)? Could it possibly be a ATT problem, I tried texting my phone from one of my friends and immediately it went to iMessage instead of SMS but it eventually changed to text and I got it.
so I asked motorola about this issue. They said group messaging is no longer supported (wth) and I should download a 3rd party app.

If you like the stock app check out 8sms. Works very well and supports group messaging.
I have found that group messaging on android is pretty lack luster. I've installed Google hangouts as my default sms app and just deal with the issues. Hopefully, it will get better over time. They have a ton of issues to work through though. Good luck.
I do group messaging all the time in the hangouts app. Works no problem for me at all. I do them as "group MMS" messages. Try switching your SMS app to hangouts and see if it's any better.
Oh and before you switched from the iPhone did you unregister your phone number with iMessage? If not, that might be why they're not coming through. The apple database thinks you're still on iMessage and they're getting lost in limbo. See this:

This has been asked in other places for other phones, but I've never seen this answered. Here's the scenario:
1. I receive a group text normally
2. I respond to the group text a few times and it works fine as a group text
3. I respond again to the same group text and it suddenly sends my message to each person individually
This is maddening! I am using a VZ Moto Maker. Still on 4.4 cuz I don't want to ruin root. Using Handcent, but I've experienced this with stock app as well.
Any ideas?

I'll give Hangouts a try. Hopefully it will solve this. Thanks. I wish Hangouts had the popup notification like Handcent.
Talk to verizon. Group messages are sent as mms witch uses the data side of your phone. It could just be a sim card or settings issue on there side. Are you getting all of the picture messages you are sent and do your picture messages send without issue?

Something weird happens only when sending/receiving SMS with one of my contacts. All the messages that I received from that person are in one conversation, all the ones I sent are in a separate conversation. Rooted Stock KK.
Number is the same in both in and outgoing messages (I simply push "reply" to answer), but still, it won't merge the conversation into one, like for all other contacts.
any suggestions?
I think it might have to do with the other person using Hangouts. Have the same issue with my girlfriend.
Anyone esle use Google messages?
I noticed that I'm not receiving all messages with Google messages. It's pretty annoying since having a reliable MMS is critical for my job and my business. And not having web interface for stock SMS app sucks.
