I have been all over xda and Google trying to find answers. I see a lot of people warning about updating to 5.1, relocking, unbricking, etc... But no info on the ability to unlock the bootloader on a nexus 6 with 5.1 already on it. Can somebody please clarify? Thanks

Unlocking is simple. Boot to bootloader, use fastboot and type:
fastboot oem unlock
Your device will be wiped so back up your data. Nothing has changed with the unlocking process, just re-locking. Just be sure you boot into android before doing anything else after unlocking.
---------- Post added at 06:49 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:35 PM ----------
Just be sure you enable developer options and tick the box to "allow OEM unlock".

Hi, I have an Xperia Z1 (C6902) recently bought and have already updated to version 14.2.A.1.136 without unlocking the bootloader, I need to know if it is possible to unlock this version.
I am new to the forum and I have not much experience, anyone can help me?
Type *#*#7378423#*#* on phone keyboard and see what Bootloader Unlock Allowed saying, Yes or No, if Yes it can be unlocked, if No it cannot be unlocked and there is no way around. Bootloader have nothing to do with SIM Lock.

I tried unlocking bootloader thrue fastboot, getvar version etc says 0.5. But the commando with unlock key says failed and second attempt "you already rooted " that's impossible, I can't be. . Anyway I Have flashed ftf 290 with flashtool and then updated to 136 thrue Sony company software.
What's wrong? Any tips?
If i try unlock thrue flashtool it says done. And then I tried flashing doomkernel with success. However the phone didn't almost boot and when it does I have strange vibration false and random reboots.
I'm back to stock for now and would like to unlock so I can root
Is possible to unlock the bootloader without downgrading to 14.2.A.0.290?

I tried to check if it is possible, the procedures did with the code * # * # 7378423 # * # * and I see: Bootloader unlock allowed: yes
What I need is to know if you could help me with a tutorial to unlock the bootloader downgrade by doing an easy means as Fastboot.
Forgiveness for the mistakes, I'm trying to translate everything, I speak Spanish only.

If Bootloader Unlock Allowed saying Yes that mean it can be unlocked. Unlock bootloader will not unlock SIM Carrier.
The instruction to unlock bootloader are HERE on official site for Z1. The latest firmware is .136 so do not worry if there is saying .290.

You don't have to Unlock Bootloader to get Root, you can Root your phone with Locked Bootloader.
Follow instruction from HERE, watch the video Tutorial by Shem, then follow the instruction HERE for .136

Thank you very much, that good you do not need to unlock bootloader, is that everywhere you look as I was saying root access needed to unlock the bootloader. What I really needed was to have root access!

Yeah by that method your bootloader gets locked, but the device status stays modified l, isn't it? If this is so, i can't claim my warranty back

hey man, read that whole thread. seems like you just gotta keep flashing till it works
someone had success with "fastboot oem lock begin
<flashed firmware>
fastboot oem lock"
---------- Post added at 02:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:05 PM ----------
try flashing stock while unlocked, letting it boot, then reboot to fastboot and edit your flash commands to not erase data or cache
THEN lock
Hello, I have unlocked the bootloader and relock (command fastboot oem lock) by flashing the stock OPWS24.57-40-6 but the following message appears every time I turn on the phone: "your device has loaded to a different operating system". Is there any way to remove it? Thank you.
Mine does that too. I'm pretty sure once you've unlocked, you can't get rid of it. I could be wrong. I just ignore it
That happens to me too. I don't know what to do. I've flashed several roms but it still shows this message. I think that Motorola couldn't do that to their customers. It's bad, mainly if we think about selling our cellphones. I wouldn't buy a cellphone with this kind of message. Let's see if someone was successful removing the advise.
Seems like unlocking bootloader is a CRIME ?
You unlocked the bootloader voiding the warranty. This is your shameful reminder of your sinful deeds.

Voiding the warranty and I'll go to hell, of course.

My Google pay works fine because I'm rooted with magisk. However, flashing stock and relocking bootloader (even with your warning) should allow Google pay to work.

Need help badly:
I Lost OEM unlock option when I installed a custom rom. I have waited for 7 days and the option wouldnt appear in the settings. I believe if I reboot this, Id be stuck in binary blah blah and Id be back in stock rom again and be jailed for 7 days.
Im currently rooted. Ive read an article about DrKetan OEM patch. Can I be able to install that without using TWRP? Like the app Flashify or Flashfire?
Any insights please?
Thanks
I wish to restore my TWRP backup but I cant get to TWRP as I believe id be stuck in " only official binary blah blah"
I first unlocked the boot loader but didn't worked than I was unable to find the one unlock option again in developer mode even after reflashing the firmware.
In the Odin mode it is written oem lock off
Can somebody guide me how to show that option again

Some roms hide the OEM unlock option to avoid accidentally switching it and then locking you out ie only official binaries. Search in the thread of the rom you are using to see if that is the case.

You can try to unlock the bootloader with mi_flash_unlock if your phone is bound to your Mi account. If not, you need an edl authorised account and flash the phone with the testpoint method. Tha'ts how I unbricked mine.
