This is my burning Red Laser, made with a Sony 20x DVD Diode, and a flashlight. it burns everything, seriously, I haven't run into anything that it cant burn yet.
youtube comments are apprecieted.
needled 24/7.
that thing is sick how did u do that?
Harvest the Diode from a DVD player, put it in a flashlight that you prefer... here's a guide on youtube that explains all the steps:

it's way cool...*but*
...it's a good way to go blind, too. specular reflections off things in the room could pretty easily zap you in the eye. there was a huge discussion on slashdot on these things a while back which started off as "woah!", progressed to "yes but" and then got more frightening as time went on. you will *not* be able to blink fast enough to avoid eye damage...
No problem, just wear shades.

seriously - it's kind of cool, but messing with it carries a significant risk of blinding you and people around you. in an unpredictable, "but i just shone it over there and didn't realise there were some slightly shiny surfaces, officer" type of way. instant retina damage...

yea this thing is no toy, more of a weapon I'd say. i ordered some shades. when i first got this laser i didnt think i would need them, but i found out how bright this really was, this video doesnt not show how bright it is at all, you just have to see for yourself. looking at the dot is like looking at the sun, it gives you a huge blind spot like the sun does.
on my laser forum people say not to wear sunglasses while using lasers, as it's even worse. aparently it doesnt filter thru the light so its just as using the laser without the sunglasses, but to make things worse, since the sunglasses are dark your eye tries to take in even more light, therefor taking in even more red light! so wearing sunglasses are just worse.

ugh.. I'd never pay that much for a red, considering that now you can buy a high powered 20x diode for under $20. Then put it in a module ($3), put that in a heatsink ($20), put the heatsink in any style case you want (lets just say a $10 case). Buy a Driver (anywhere from $10 - 20 depending on the driver). And Last but not least, batteries ($4).
That's a total of $57 - $67
Again, here is a list of the items needed to build a laser:
Diode - $20
Module - $3
Heatsink - $20
Driver - 10 - 20$
host (flashlight case) - $10 - xx
Batteries - $4
You decide which is better, paying the extra "buisness costs", a total of $240.00 just for 150mW... or building one yourself for only $70 - $80..which btw can easily (AND SAFELY) reach 210mW - 250mW. PM me if you wanna learn more about building a laser.
The nice thing about building lasers is once you've already bought everything up above, (usually) the only thing that can die is the Diode, and a replacement is cheap. I believe one of the most recent prices I saw on a Red Diode was $17.50. BluRay diodes are getting cheaper as well, about $11.50 for 100mW of blu ray!

the DX laser is good for it's price. And since it's a Red there is really no way they can mess it up (DX can be known for it's poor quality, as well as outstanding quality lol).
I've seen some mods done to this laser where they replaced the diode with a more powerful one and it was much more powerful!

There are a few companies that sell safety glasses that have some filtering capabilities. Now, this doesn't mean that you can look at the damn thing directly, but they might save you from blinding yourself. Really cool stuff though.

actually... (this may sound stupid.. so be prepared!) you can look directly into it while wearing the safety goggles. It blocks ALL of the light (unless of course you have a multi Watt laser. If you're actually wearing the shades and you point the dot at the wall all you will see is a tiny yellowish looking dot.
Hmm, I'd be careful if I were you.

Depends on the wavelength that can be filtered by the goggles, but you are right. Although, I wouldn't try it
Samsung has recently brought in the White Note to the Indian Market.Does it beats the style and looks of the Black?
Depends on personal preference I guess. I personally liked the white one because it's more stylish and fingerprints are less visible. And if you want to stand out from the crowd then get the white. If you want to be discrete, get the black.

LOL I think having this beast in one's hands makes one "stand out from the crowd" Plus White is too Appleish.
WHITE!!! most of the devices around us are black..go for white..stunin 5.3 beast in white is awesome
Also love my white note, its a beauty beast
After looking at some pics of a white Note recently I liked it so much it made me have some buyers remorse. I hadn't bothered even looking at one before getting the black, thinking naaaah that won't look good but when I saw it I was like damn!!! that is sweet!!! it just looks better in white. Of course color preference is completely subjective so that's just MHO. If I could get my hands on a white one with 32Gb internal to further justify the expense, I'd buy it in a second, long as she was new in the box.
dude definitely go for the white one ...alothough i have a blue (black) one
coz when i got in dec ,the white one was apprx 35k and mine was 30k so 5k just for colour was not worth it

LOL, you have a point. Although I kind of disagree with the white Note being Appleish. I had a white HTC trinity a year before iPhones came out so as far as I'm concerned, iPhones are HTCeish.
i've seen a video of it in white and it looks so sexy. I wish I had another month's patience to get white note. but yea as someone else said it all depends on preference
It's actually blue (very dark blue) not black, and white, but that's not a serious matter.
As for me, I always take the black variant when I buy devices with screens. The black bordering the screen makes the video experience 'cleaner' or 'brighter' or something --- can't think of the proper word for it. Something of a more genuine cinematic feel; the same feel demonstrated in a movie house with the lights off.
Of course, that could just be psychological and/or aesthetic but it does go easier on the eyes at any point. I'd try to cite sources but I'm too lazy atm. Of course, when you use the Note in the dark, there would be likely no difference. However, this preference for me in such devices only applies to the screen area. I once had my hands on a Nintendo DS Lite whose interior is black but the outer cover is red but it pleases me all the same. Same thing with the Note whose back is just some very dark blue.
Another thing though, the device looks super cool when the screen is off. Like the front is just a black, shiny slab that comes to life in a push of a button. :3
You gotta admit though, white is very eye-catching. Overkill on the eye-catching factor sometimes too.
My personal opinion - white is more for the female type of users I think. I've hold a galaxy s2 white and although it is very sexy, most people in my surroundings find it more suited for women.
Now, the White Note is very stylish in its white housing there's no doubt about it.....but if you check the streets, you'll notice that most women hold white phones and it looks this color is destined for the lady's market rather than male. The White housing gives the phone a sexy soft appealing look to the overall design. To choose between a black or white, I'll opt for the black at 101%. Just my personal thoughts about this.

was about to opinion the same. As per color theory black is more suited for better video experience. Haven't come across a theater with white surrounding near the screen.
Black is best. White could be more dirty with the time.

My white note has the exynos, I think you will find that the difference in chips is between the european or international ones and the version for the US carriers which are probable going for the snapdragon because of compatability with US LTE
Personally I think my white note looks totally cool, but then I've never worried about what other people think, I just get what I like and to hell with the rest of the world

I got a chance today to get hold of both variations. Other than the obvious color on the back, there are several subtle differences:
1. Earpiece color, black vs white
2. Side finish, matte vs glossy
3. Back finish, soft-touch vs regular matte plastic (contrary to what Engadget reported)
I was going to grab the white one for the look, but after getting them in my hands, I changed my mind. That soft touch back on the black one is really comfortable to touch (I don't plan on using a case anyway). Also, I prefer the earpiece to be black.
Also take a look at this post:

16gb white was all that was available when i hit the play store yesterday so that's what i ordered. i like the black / white combo on this device and ordered the white spiegen ultra fit case to show it off.
won't really matter how the back compares against the black once the case is on there.

Well yes, this is my opinion, although IMO white is just slightly more appealing if it also have a soft touch back.
I guess having soft touch on white is either very difficult, or will make it stain/turn yellow easily
I always believed that the white one will not have soft touch, until I read the Engadget report...but it turns out to be false
I have a white GS3 and love white devices but after never being able to get a case or bumper that can stay clean, I opted for the black Nexus 5.
Man, if I had known the white wasn't a soft-touch stain magnet, I may have considered it more. That white ear piece grill is ugly, though.
Now that you mention it it makes sense that they wouldnt go soft touch with the white. Makes me long for the black one now. Im not usually one to put my phone is a case, but I think without the softback I might go with a case this time around and see how it works. Regardless, they both look like great pieces of hardware

Man thats disappointing. I was looking forward to the white. Did the back cover feel like the same type of plastic on the white HTC HERO? I Wish I could get hands on both. I was really up for the white but the ear piece looks silver in pics and I thought it would really detract from the gorgeous screen always catching your eye.
Shame they really should have documented that there was a difference in the two models and how they are finished.
Also how did the glossy sides feel of the white one? Im assuming the white is aimed stereotypically at the female market hence the glossy glossy sides.

I don't know how it compares to Hero... My first Android device is the GNex. It feels similar to white Note 3's back.
The sides shouldn't make that much difference in feel, I guess (I didn't check that out).

Let's put it this way, in was stood with the black in one hand and the white in the other, could have had either and I walked away with the white

Yeah looking at YouTube vids the white is soft touch. The sides are definitely glossy I actually think it looks more premium than the black.
However the white earpiece cover is freaking unforgivable in my eyes who thought that was a good idea. Its so freaking distracting.
It may be good so you can quickly pick up the phone the right way up but coming from a gnex my eye is drawn to it since its the same size as the notification light on my nexus.
Also watching any video on this and your always going to be drawn to the white dot. If they were willing to do that they may as well have made the whole thing white. The point in the black front is to stop glare or light reflection so as not to distract from the screen. This does the opposite.
It reminds me of a mini galaxy tab when it first came out. I liked that and I like this just not the white earpiece. Silly design feature.

if you plan to get a case, it won't be a problem. what would piss me off more is the light bleed and the amount of light reflection of the face of the phone from the indicator lights (or any other source of light hitting it directly). i tend to do a lot of my work at night (or in the dark) and i found the white face more of an annoyance and a liability. the white variant of the device looks nice, don't get me wrong... i'm just over it now. function over aesthetics i guess.
I won't have my Note's till tomorrow, but there is a drop test of the white Note 4 where the paint held up quite well from what I could see. The unpainted metal parts didn't do as well.

Black version would chip also so I don't think it's an issue.
Anyone else's display seem to have a yellowish tint? Mine seems very yellow looking at it straight on. But when I look at it angled either from the bottom or top it looks perfectly white with just a slight bluish tint. Either way it looks much better than yellow.
So what I'm trying to figure out is of I got a bad unit and if I should go get a new one. Only reason I am even considering not exchanging is the whole "scratchgate" bs.
Anyone care to weigh in?
BTW I have the 64gb black.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G925A using Tapatalk
Comparing mine next to my LG g3 I noticed a yellow tint as well. Not a deal breaker for me as I rarely compare screen to screen but I've owned a gs2,gs3, and gs4 and there is always some yellowish tint discussion that pops up. You can keep exchanging until you get a more bluish tone but I don't have the energy any more lol. Screen still looks great to me!!
Blame AMOLED tech. Your options right now are a slightly yellow screen with generally more accurate color reproduction or a slightly blue screen with less accurate overall color reproduction but mildly more pleasant whites (to most people).
It wouldn't be a big deal but its really bad because its centered. By that I mean when I look at all the different sides from straight on I can tell they are more blueish and it makes the center look even more yellowed. I realize the amoleds generally run warmer in tone but it seems to me that the whole screen should at least carry the same tone from the same angle. Obviously because of the curved nature the color will shift on the actual edges of the screen but everything else ought to be the same color/tone.
Or am I totally off base here?

Doesn't really answer the question which is...
A: is it possible that my display is defective since it really only shows a warm yellow tone in the center most portion of the screen?
B: is this going to be true for all sgs6e's or is there a chance of having one where the tone is the same throughout the entire display face.
I understand color shifting and how is inevitable, but I would at least like my screen to have the same tone from top to bottom (obviously the edges will have a different tone done they are being seen at an angle when viewing the phone head on) rather than Top:Cold Middle:Warm Bottom:Cold

Just turned on Adaptive Display which seems to make the whole screen more uniform in tone temperature however angles are still a bit of a..... well..... bi*** because they remind me of the pure white coloring I've grown to know so well. But I suppose this is far more livable than before which was almost unbearable (thanks OCD).
May still try to swap for a new unit in a week or so just to see if anything has changed.

I have s6 edge too (32gigs black) (Indian Variant) and I also have the same problem. Coming from note 4 so this yellowish tint really is deal breaker for me!
you sure it isnt the adaptive screen setting?
what I found is if you are using the adaptive screen mode and reading a webpage w/ lots of text, it sometimes will change the tint to warmer which ends up with a yellowish screen instead of white, which may cause you to think that the screen is yellow (thats what I thought the first time I saw it)
try to change the screen type to some other settings and see if that get you the white color?
I am having the same problem. I know it's a defective screen because I have two S6 Edges here.
My black sapphire 32 gb has a white screen
My new gold platinum 64 gb has a yellow screen and its very annoying. I'm probably gonna exchange it

Hello . Please do tell if you use a screen protector film or glass . Cause i have the exact same problem and everybody saye it's the protector but i dont think so . It happend after a bootloop and because the phone turned too hot before i download the stock rom i decided to put it in refrigerator. Battey ran out and when It realized it the phone was too cold maybe next to 0 degree . After the flash was done I noticed the color has changed . So I'm kinda unsure
