Phone headset and mic not working during calls - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I recently installed the google play edition ROM (5.0.1). My issue is I cant send nor receive sounds during a call. If I use a external headset, all is well and I can talk/listen over the external headset (be it Bluetooth or wired), or I can swap the over to the phone speaker and it works. However if I place a call without a external headset connected, the phone earpiece, nor the speaker work. I've looked into the no sound issue, but it seems that's been since taken care of. I've tried other ROMs, (bare-bones kit-kat, and CM 12 nightly) and still no sound. Any ideas?
For reference I'm running Verizon HTC M7. Lollipop 5.0.1 Google Plus Edition v2.06, installed with CWM.

Calls work when I flashed CM 10.2 and 12. but not for other ROMs. So its not a hardware issue. I really like the GPE 5.0.2 ROM by santod040 , but there is no sound when calling, ever, not even in the first few minutes after boot. How can I fix this. I'd be happy to provide any debug info as needed

[Q] Phone microphone stopped working...

My Tmo HTC One phone's microphone stopped working a few days ago when I use the handset to make calls. The mic works when I have it on speakerphone and my bluetooth headset works. I was running ARHD 13.4 when this started and I upgraded to ARHD 20.2 (with 3.17.401.2) last night but did not make a phone call until this morning. My wife said it sounded like I was in a windy room when I tried to call her, so I rebooted and now she cant hear anything when I call (unless I use speakerphone or BT headset).
I have insurance on the phone, but I do not want ot mess with making a claim until I have tried everything I can on my end.
Any tips or things I should try?
So you are saying that the microphone works, but not during calls?
This means it is a software not hardware issue
Install the latest AHRD (V21.0 is due out soon)
Follow the instructions in the Rom's first post
As it is a new build you need to flash clean and not dirty (again all explained in the first post)
This should resolve it for you :highfive:

just tried another Rom and same problem as above, sounds crackly and windy...seems right that it would be a software issue because the mic works fine during speakerphone mode, but I have no idea ?? i feel like sticking a pin in the mic in case theres something stuck in there , but...im sure thats a horrible idea!

[Q] Microphone "kinda" not working (With any ROM)

Just acquired one of these phones today and seem to be having a slightly strange issue and hoping someone might know the resolution.
When on a call, the other person cannot hear me at all (they can hear nothing as-if the microphone is muted, it's not!), however if I switch to speakerphone they can hear me fine.
This is happening on any ROM, except unofficial CM10.1 where the microphone does not work at all.
In external apps the mic does not work either (so if I record a video, I get no sound).
I'm having trouble seeing this as a mic hardware issue as it works OK on speakerphone, any ideas on this?
Cheers!

Does this happen on stock rom as well?
Yeah I've put it back to the Samsung firmware (Carphone Warehouse UK, 2.3.6) and still doing the same thing.
Interestingly, on stock-based ROMs the Mic works on speakerphone (Still nothing anywhere else), but on CM-based or ported ROMs, the mic does not work at all!
Just to confirm, the Galaxy Mini does have just a single mic right? Haha!

[SOLVED] [Q] Lollipop call audio issues (+ is safestrap compatible with LP?)

Had this issue on all Lollipop ROMs I've tried. My earpiece (+headphone jack) is faulty, so I set all my calls to the loudspeaker. Worked fine on KK and on my first days of Lollipop, but then even speaker stopped working. Being unable to make calls, reverted back to KK, working fine (considering I have de earpiece HW issue). Now switched back to Lollipop and it happened again. Tried routing all audio to speaker with SoundAbout, no results except for the first time after installing the app. Speaker works great for everything else, so I'm suspecting of something about how LP routes HW-related audio (calls coming from the network and, I think, FM radio - never used it in my phones, so I have no clue) and SW-related audio (everything else, which comes from file reading, handled by apps, like music, whatsapp audio and notifications) or some issue with the apps and libs (and whatever else) related to calls.
So I'd like help in the following points:
1. Is it possible to revert everything system-wise related to calls to their KK counterparts? Is there a good reason for it not to work well, theoretically, so I shouldn't even bother trying?
2. In case 1 isn't possible, is there a way for me to check everything that should be working about call audio, see what outputs and stuff like that I was supposed to get, and compare these to the ones I get, on testing? I can provide logcat with SoundAbout on and off, if needed;
3. Since it's only happening in LP, should I suppose that this is something related to the earpiece+P2 jack issue that KK ignored, but LP isn't dealing well with? I'm going for a new jack (I think the earpiece issue is caused by it, because it stopped working about the same time my jack was broken beyond repair) in a couple of weeks and this might be solved, but this issue is driving me crazy already. I could live without the earpiece. I could even live without being able to listen to music on my way to work. But it's really sad to need to revert to KK in order to be able to make calls, with the amazing work devs are doing on LP (tried 3 LP ROMs and fell in love with all of them, visual, speed, functionality and stability-wise).
In case nothing works, I considered multi-boot with safestrap, my current LP as "stock" (I don't know if there is a limitation to actual stock FWs in the stock slot at safestrap, could somebody point me this?) and a KK FW (stock or custom, really don't care in this case) for calling. I make few calls a day, but those are very important, so I could spend some time in KK to make calls if I could reboot to LP and enjoy the best of it. Is it possible?
Thanks in advance for any input. Sorry for the long post (I like to give al the details I can and explain my resolution tries and thoughs on the OP to prevent the need to comment a hundred times) and for the awful english.
If your earpiece and 3.5 mm jack are damaged why don't repair your phone?
Safestrap hasn't been compatible since Android 4.4.
And unfortunately you can't downgrade either, not without likely bricking.
But if you're flashing roms, you must have an unlocked bootloader, so why would you need safestrap?
Oh, There's no way to "multi boot" on the moto X.
CM12 call audio updates seem to fix the issue. Will report back after I get my earpiece replaced.
Sent from my ghost using XDA Free mobile app
Update: the issue seems to happen if one has a damaged earpiece and installs the whatsapp mic fix. So if anyone out there has this issue, you have to choose: call audio on speakers or recording audio on whatsapp. Will report back, but I have been running for a couple days without issues.

[Q] HTC One M7 no sound

I have an HTC one m7 sprint which i had running on a sense based rom for about a year. A couple of weeks ago I flashed Cyanogenmod 12 (not sense based) rom and everything worked fine.
The other day i was listeneing to music when the eveything just went quite!
At first i thought that the speaker was blown, but then I plugged in my earphones and there is still no sound coming out from them. My earphones work perfectly fine in other devices.
I can get a very faint sound coming through the earphones when playing videos using MX Player with S/W Audio decoding.
So this then lead me to think that there must be a hardwar audio decoder which has packed a sad?
But then when using voice calls i can hear through the speaker and the microphone works fine.
I have tried flashing back to my previous rom and even the stock rom but still no luck.
Has anyone experienced this before? Does anyone have a posible solution?
I am no expert but...
I had problems with call sounds only.
Deleted the Google play services data and got it working.
Google play services update caused it.
Switched to lollipop ...newest 7.15 firmware.
Now okay.

HTC M7 Microphone not working (not the Checkin Fix)

Hi there,
I have installed the latest insertcoin 7.1.1 + 7.1.2, Revolution HD, and also several other Roms, I have s-offed my phone, rooted, updated to the latest firmware over OTA but my Microphone does not work properly while in a call.
I can hear the other side perfectly. I know this happened in earlier versions and I know using "disable Services" helped to turn off "Checkin" from Google Services and that fixed the problem.
But this here seems to be different and I don't know what to do.
It worked perfectly before, but now I don't get it back to "life".
The mic is not completely off - It is only working when I am very, very close to the mic while in a call.
It seems to me, that something is set to super sensitive like a cut off voice. In Insertcoin I disabled Noise Surpression and Call Recording, restarted and all.
I also can hear my own voice while talking - so it seems that the mic works, but routes the sound wrong.
Anybody knows a fix?
Thanks!

Looks like a noise cancelling problem, are both front and back mic working correctly? Dial *#*#3424#*#* then select "Audio test" and "run" and make sure both mic are recording.
