Not sure what info you need it has 4.4.2 on it now he just wants to root the phone again, towel root does not work and he used that at first but lost root
4.4.2 is what i needed. 5.0 is it now and didn't know if you had that version because it can't be rooted. I have the towel root v3 that still works. I'll try to get it uploaded in a bit. i just downgraded to nce and it still works

If you're on 4.4.2 and towel root doesn't work, you must be on nce. You need to downgrade to the nd3 kernel, root with towel root and then upgrade to the nce kernel. If you update to 4.4.4 you have to do the same process. I suggest you do not upgrade to 5.0, as it will break root unless you upgrade a special way.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3077652
OK. Your kernel is what is not supported in towel root then. Go to the linked forum, download the nce.rar, extract the tar and flash in the AP slot using Odin 3.09. After that you will be able to use towel root. This will reset your phone to factory so backup or save everything your gonna want on you desktop before doing this. I just did this 2 nights ago so i know this will work.

I am on firmware LA3, using the LA3 CF root files. I have placed the zImage from one .tar file into the correct folder in the CFroot files and have the other .tar on my desktop like I saw in a video tutorial. USB debugging/Unknown Sources enabled, and all drivers are installed. Everything looks to be working fine until the end of the zergrush where there is a permission denied error when trying to write to dev/block/mmcblk0p5. Other than that, i don't know what else it would be. Any suggestions?
I also included a screenshot of the Zergrush.

LA3 cannot be rooted using zergrush method. You have to downgrade to at least KL1 or older stock Roms to be able to root them with ZG. Of course, you can upgrade to whatever you want once your Note is rooted, and keep the root in the process.
Read carefully this thread, and you'll get there.
What if I directly install it through Odin? I know that it would increase the binary counter, but I don't really plan on getting it returned ever since it is not under warranty. Will it work then?

No it will not. Follow downgrade method
I did flash my stock LA1 using PC Odin and it worked fine, only giving triangle and +1 custom binary counter. But I used JIG method to clear the triangle and reset the counter.

This is confusing me... I am trying to follow this:

Above method installs only CWM Recovery. If you want root , then u have to downgrade to KL3 and below version, then Root.

Thanks you. That clears things up a little bit. I haven't been keeping track of things the last couple months and am getting overwhelmed with all the new stuff that is coming out .
Don't go for KL3, because some of those are rootable directly, some are not. As I said before, pick KL1 or older. You can root any one of those with zergrush for sure.
Then you can proceed with installing Chainfire's ICS Repack and any custom ICS build.
So i was successfully able to unbrick my at&t note 3 with a method that required that i would run the mi9 baseband but have the mj5 firmware. So my question is, would i be able to root my phone again using kingo or would that combination potentially cause errors or malfunctions with rooting my phone an possibly soft brick yet again?

Well I would say the only way to know is to try. I'm not thinking this phone has been around long enough for your particular scenario to pan out yet.

Google kingo root(I did) or follow the restore thread in general. Kingo root is the easiest and least likely to brick

Most likely this will NEVER happen. It is too difficult to find a root exploit and if there is an alternative solution there simply is no point for developers to waste their time on that.

And how does that change anything? Rooting 4.4 will most likely be achieved in exactly the same way. So you might as well get root now and then just flash a prerooted version once 4.4 comes out.
One click rooting solutions are provided only when an exploit is found in a firmware. The newer the firmware the harder they are to find, that's why its easier to just use an already discovered one in lower firmware version by downgrading.

Why look for an exploit in 4.3 when most of us will be upgrading to 4.4 within the next 2 months. alot of work looking for an exploit in what is really a temporary firmware for us and could very well be patched up in 4.4, like 4.2 to 4.3 was.
May as well wait for 4.4 and then look for the exploit

You need to flash the NE3 Odin package first, then you can update to OC7. You can't go directly from 4.2.2 to 5.0.1 or you will have the exact problem you're experiencing.

Can anyone upload a odin version of this update for non-rooted phones? It would be greatly appreciated.

I don't believe if there is a PA3 for G900A. PA2 is the latest version for the phone.

You are correct; it is an update to bring the phone up to date with Android Security Patch: 2016-05-01. I wonder if AT&T is switching to monthly software updates. If that is the case, then any kind of root solution would be very short lived before they issue a patch for it.

By the way, for unknown reasons Chrome can't open the link for me, while MS Edge loads the page just fine.
Anyone with G900A PA3 odin files yet by any chance?
Yes, does anyone have these files? Thanks
I'd also like to have the Odin Stock PA3 files. Using AT&T -_- not sure what to do here... towelroot didn't like it. I made sure unknown sources... etc..
i want to downgrade as far down as possible so it can be rooted. And how is PA3 able downgrade to OA1? How are they compatible?
I don't mind downgrading as long as it doesn't trip the warranty (if it was my phone i would have already done it successfully) ... but that's what my sister's phone came with. Trying to help her out. please, if anyone has a way to root or can confirm that the downgrade won't 110% brick it.. I really don't know which ones I can actually downgrade with.. some are able to go from PA2 to PA1 no problems and some report bricks-- as long as I can get to download mode (and i even have some jigs to make sure or at least try) ... if i can get that even water downgrading as mentioned above, then i'll try it.. anyone?

I'd rather stay on PA3 unless it means you can root it on there.. heh. Thats the whole point. and I told her to come running to me if AT&T asked for an update.. I clogged up the cache and her SD card so that it wouldn't be able to run until.. well, until i can get root access on the damn thing.
