Unlocking xt1097 AT&T - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a xt1097 att from eBay. I tried unlocking it with my att account and it says the imei can't be found. So I tried two different unlocking sites and they both refunded me saying it failed. I ran my imei through swappa and it showed up clear and it showed it was a xt1097, so I was sure I didn't give the wrong imei multiple times. What places did anyone unlock their moto x through? My next step is to go on att chat to see if they can help. From what I researched they are about as dumb as a box of rocks on this issue of the imei not being found.

Help subsidy lock droid 3

I have tried 3 different codes even one from verizon and still the phone is locked. The people in verizon told me that they only have one code for my phone and do not know why it is not working. Perhaps the phone has to be in the verizon network when in input the code.I am in Colombia right now and I am trying to use it with movistar. Thanks
Sorry for offtop.
How you taken unlock code from Verizon? I have code for my droid, but this code not from Verizon and not working. And I think code from Verizon will be work.
I guess it was just luck that i got a very helpful rep. I told the that i was abroad, that i pay in full and all that stuff.
Hi.. when i bought my Droid 3 in ebay, it was not unlocked. I asked the seller to ask for de SIM unlock code and verizon gave it to him as good client. This guy saved my life.
I am in Movistar Uruguay, and code worked. No need to use CDMA network to SIM unlock. Phone is superb.
Then I do not know what is wrong with my phone. I did exactly the same but the code does not work. I got the code from Verizon too. when i put it it does not work and it goes to subsidy lock. I guess I tried too many times and now it is in a different type of lock. Anyone knows how to restore it to original. I restored, flashed and nothing still the same.
i am trying to unlock and flash my verizon d3 as well global tech support told me the phone had to b active on there network to unlock there is a code for each meid# and things they do ota on there end also , they told me the phone could not b unlocked out of the country off of there network i am in the midst of flashing my to chinese ver.firmware but im not totaly unlocked i had a glitch flashing and had to restore factory now verizon needs to release again .,or so it seems im tryin to find away around it they only unlock each ten months
The whole problem with unlock codes from verizon is that I bet it's not the sim/network unlock code but the PUK or pin unlock key that's used to unlock the phone after too many invalid attempt but not to unlock the network/simlock. Pretty sure I can get my network unlock for bell for $75 after I've been in contract with them for 3 months and my account is in good standing. Just some idiot rep reading "unlock key" but not the first work and handing it out without really knowing what it's for, I've had it happen on rogers, bell and virgin mobile.
Ihave this same problem i buy an xt862 and a code on moto4unlock.com and dosnt work so i get a code from motorola and la this same that the moto4... So i dont know what to do same one can help me please

Moto X won't work on AT&T

So I purchased a Moto X off Swappa from a guy that works for Anandtech.com. They were selling their demo model so I snagged it. Apparently it was used in Canada despite the fact that it is an AT&T model. When I received the phone and popped a SIM into it, it is prompting me for a SIM unlock PIN. He claims that nothing was changed software wise, but it seems to me that they would have had to change something in order to get it to work with a Canadian GSM SIM card. I took it to an AT&T store and he called tech support but the pins they gave him wouldn't work. Anyone have any thoughts on how to make this thing work or am i out of luck? I was thinking of unlocking and rooting with a stock ROM, but not sure if that would resolve the issue. I would appreciate any input.
thanks!

Rogers Wireless in Canada uses the XT1058, Att uses an XT1058, but they are not the same rom/radio code. And the Rogers can get the boot loader unlock code from Moto directly.
Could it be you have a Rogers XT1058? Does it have the ATT logo on its back? Did ATT have the IMEI in its database?
Something else to consider... you mention wanting to unlock and root... Unless that Chinese Website/Middleman comes backup, you can't unlock the bootloader on the ATT XT1058, and the current root option for 4.4.2 doesn't survive power off/on since there is no way to disable write protection (without unlocking the bootloader).

It is from Canada, but it has the AT&T logo. So at this point, there is no way to flash an AT&T stock ROM onto the phone? In contacting AT&T again today, the only thing that I could discern was the system version that was different than what she said it should be. I have 165.44.1.ghost_att.ATT.en.US, she said that it should be 161.44.1.ghost_att.ATT.en.US
Just curious, can you boot into fastboot/bootloader mode. Does it say "Device is Locked Status Code 0" or "Device is Unlocked Status Code 3"?
The latest ATT ROM leaked on http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=0 is 165.44.1.ghost, and as far as I know, that is the current ATT ROM. You can try and reflash the ATT SBF, but I doubt it will help.
ATT XT1058 is Sim locked out of the box, but an ATT SIM should work in it sim locked or unlocked.
I don't have an answer as to why if you have an XT1058 from ATT, and put a real ATT SIM in it, you would get prompted for the SIM Unlock pin, unless you have a PUK on the SIM itself? Does this SIM work in other ATT devices without prompting for unlock pin?

Device is locked - status code 0. I am able to use the SIM in my G2 with no issues. The person I bought it from said that it was never used on a Canadian provider.

Sorry, I'm not sure what to tell you.
The bootloader has never been unlocked, so there is no way non-ATT ROM or radio could have been installed.
Do you have another ATT Sim to try, or a T-Mobile SIM maybe?
I remember someone else posting something like this a while ago, but I do not know if there was a resolution or not.
I don't know what to tell you to try next. Sorry.

Hey,
*DONATION OF $50 WILL BE SENT VIA PAYPAL TO ANYONE WHO CAN PROVIDE A SIMPLE/PRACTICAL SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE*
I have been having an issue with the Moto X Xt1058 Att device.
I have a business where we have online retail and wholesale cellphones. I got a shipment of the the Moto X and they were unlocked.
Some of my clients received the product and started complaining about them being unlocked. I checked for myself and they were unlocked.
Upon doing a software update on the device it carrier locks and when putting in a sim card it requests the unlock code.
I went on Att Device Unlock site and when putting in the Imei number is says they don't recognize the sim.
Let me know if you can be of help
Thanks,

Contact Motorola Via their forums, ( i had same problem and it is not limited to just me although it seems to be only on certain batches of the phone).. anyways, contact MARK(Motorola forum manager) (https://forums.motorola.com/people/6d01fef04a) or an admin at Motorola Forums for Moto X and describe situation they will get you straightened out
You can call Motorola support but they will tell you the same thing, Mark will fix it.. please make a thread in the forum at Motorola for your phone as Mark does not typically respond to direct PM's but he will be the one that takes over and fixes your clients issues.

Moto X won't unlock from AT&T with provided codes

Just like many other posters, I have a Moto X 1st generation locked to AT&T which has been impossible to unlock for over a year. The difference in this case is that I've had 2 different unlock codes, provided by AT&T on phone which have not worked, giving the same message as it ever did (after any random numbers or tried codes): "network unlock request unsuccessful". I am now searching for unnoficial alternatives, as I believe my phone might be defective. Any alternative or enlightment on what I might have done wrong would be deeply appreciated.
P.S.: I am not the original owner of the phone. It was bought by my aunt in USA and months later given to me, then I brought it to Brazil.
there are few websites which send codes if paid

I forgot the name of the site.
but I once bought a code for my friend's T-Mobile Note 3 from a site.
Received the code within 15 minutes of payment.
I will check with him whether he has that mail (to find the name of the site)

Hey nijom,
I already have the code. I found out it's always the same code for any phone, as it comes from its IMEI. Problem is, the code that should work gives out an error message instead. Thanks for your help anyway!

Hi,
I'm having a similar problem. Tried the codes (from AT&T and also another vendor) and it didn't work. It's possibly permanently locked but I can't confirm. Did you ever manage to solve your problem?

Non-legit T-mobile LG G4

Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a "new" LG G4 on ebay and the seller said that the phone is locked to T-mobile. Being a T-mobile customer, I thought that I can simply request a sim unlock code for the phone but that turned out not as I expected.
First of all, the IMEI checker was unable to find the device on the tmo website or other 3rd party websites. I found this to be odd as the phone was in a retail tmo box and the software on the phone seemed legit as it also had working wifi calling.
I called up tmo to ask for the unlock and they said it's not a problem and told me to try the built in unlock app. After waiting a day, I tried the app but the unlock didn't work and I kept getting a msg that the phone is inelegible for an unlock.
Again I called tmo and finally a rep said that the phone is a non-tmo phone and called up LG to ask for the unlock. LG told the rep that the phone is already unlocked but I found that not to be the case with after I tried an international simcard. Using that sim card gave me a promt after booting the phone that said I need to unlock the phone to use the network, even though I saw full signal bars.
Anyway, has anyone else had a similar experience with a phone not purchased directly from tmo?
my guess is that it was stolen
Take the back cover off. On the back, there are some numbers and letters in 4 or 5 places. Does your say H815, H812, H811, or something else? A picture without the IMEI and serial would be nice.

What about the phone itself? What country/carrier are you trying to use it on?
t-mobile USA
the box is a tmobile box and the ROM on the phone is from tmobile.
Did you put your t-mobile sim card in when you tried to unlock? Can you do a temp unlock?
The h811 can't be unlocked for something like 60 or 90 days so if it was just bought from t-mobile by the person on ebay you won't be able to permanent unlock it for a bit.
I could guess that the IMEI was changed, if its not being recognized as a T-mobile phone. Maybe they changed the stickers. With the IMEI itself, my old third party bought G Flex showed up on the T-Mobile site as a G Flex.
Can't Unlock T-Mobile LG G4
I had the same problem with being able to unlock. Because you didn't buy from T-Mobile, they don't have the IMEI in their database, so you are not registered with them. The unlock can't work, because the program goes against their database and your phone is not in it. After many calls to TMO and LG, it appears that the only way to get unlocked is to sign up for a post-paid account and use $100 plus be in their system for 40 days. The only other way is to borrow someone else's tmo micro sim and use it for a while until the Device Unlock App works. (If you are worried that you are not covered by the LG Warranty, call LG and give them your IMEI.
They will confirm that your device is new and covered by the LG one year warranty.
*#06# in the dialer should bring up the imei the phone is reporting

I checked a 3rd party imei check and they can locate the phone as lg h811. Called up lg and have them the imei number and they said it has 1.5 years of warranty. So i guess the phone is legit but isnt in the tmobile system. It's is a bummer that I can't unlock it right now.
On another note lg told tmobile that my phone is unlocked. However when i tried a sim card from another country i got a prompt telling me i need to unlock the phone even though it was showing 5 bars of signal. Would that man it is locked or unlocked?
Did you use the imei on the sticker, or pull the imei using *#06#? They could be different if someone changed it

If you purchased a tmo employee phone from eBay, it doesn't show in their database.
