[Q] Lollipop Root OTA Survival Mode - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So yeah lollipop is out.. here's my issue tho, I don't have a PC at all so I can't regain my root using Odin.
Has anyone tried using the OTA survival Mode on superuser Pro And can confirm it works? it's like $3.50 for a pro feature and I am aware that I'm going to have to use KIES but can anyone confirm that already has SPRO and still on KK?
A stock rooted Rom would be great too lol:laugh:

If you don't have a pc how are you going to update it via kies?

Are we able to root with lollipop? ?

I don't know about the latest update but I've previously done OTA updates before and kept root (I've got a Xperia T not V).

I also had no OTA available so used PC Companion to go from 9.1.A.1.140 to .141 on my Xperia T. I don't know the differences between XT .141 and XV .145 but was able to regain root using Bin4ry's Root Many Android method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460, it might work for you.

if you perform OTA update (via PHONE), you won't loose anything, actually USUALLY you don't loose anything, and of course, using root keeper...
that's totally obvious when you use PC Companion, you will loose root..
And for regaining root access, use DoomLord EasyRootKit, which is now available in Android Development Section, it actually covers ALL devices, including V
wish you luck
ok. ive try update it via OTA, while keep the root access using voodoo rootkeeper, but no success. the main problem here is ive installed CWM. i for got about this "Keep in mind that at the moment installing CWM will broke OTA updates, even if you unroot and/or remove CWM." so there is no chance to update it via OTA anymore right?:victory:

CHANCES are always CHANCES, so you have to try them
otherwise we wouldn't call them "Chance"
but, in theory, with aforementioned conditions, it's hard to believe that you will be able to update via OTA...

Firmware update failure

Hello, I purchased a used Galaxy gear and it has already been rooted, I have done a reset to factory settings but it still comes back as being rooted. My phone is rooted also so im ok with the watch being rooted but the only problem is that watch will not update to the latest firmware, it keeps going to firmware failed. How do i update to the latest firmware? Do i need to unroot the phone? and if so whats the best and easiest way to? If i can still update to the latest firmware with it still being rooted, how? Thanks!

The problem can be because of rooting your phone.
You can flash back to your Stock rom, the problem will be solved

Thanks, I actually connected it via PC and used KIES 3 and the update went just fine!! Now I am thinking about rather or not to update to Tizen... suggestions?
Also, after doing the update, it's no longer rooted. I didn't really use it for root purposes though.. I may reroot it late on or update it to Tizen.

[Q] 5.1 update on rooted Nexus 6 without PC

Hello
I can't do my 5.1 update on my rooted Nexus 6, it keeps error-ing. I'm guessing it's because I'm rooted. Thing is I can't find any way of doing the update while rooted, or unrooting, updating & rerooting without a PC, as I only have my Nexus 9 tablet (which is also rooted, though the update isn't showing on that yet).
Any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks

Do you have stock recovery?
Have you made any other mods other than root?
Hi RootSU. Yes, I have stock recovery. No other mods as yet.

Just unroot via SuperSU app in that case then.
Ok, but how do I re-root after?

Any of the usual methods work. All guides are in general
I did browse but most said PC needed, which is why I asked. So I'll find non-PC options if I delve then?

[Q] what is going to happen

I have a rooted s5, stock ROM just rooted to over clock and change emojis, neither of which were worth it. I have the ota alert for lolipop, I want to update, loosing root is fine. I searched about the results of doing ota I got mixed results. Will I brick if I update? Will I loose everything? If there is a thread or post about this and I'm that oblivious, please link it. All help is appreciated

Will not update. You need to remove root and get back to 100% stock firmware.

What is your software now?
You can try full unroot in super user app then ADB side load OTA updates.

Root on 5.1.1?

I got this phone today and it did an OTA update. I'm now on 5.1.1. Is it possible to root this phone? I'm don't think Kingroot will work and not sure I want to use it anyway.

If you root you won't be able to install updates anymore
You can root with Droid tool or King root 4.0
If you know how to, do a 100% backup with SP Flash tool
Before you try anything.
Thanks. I read on the Kingroot thread that its not working on 5.1.1. I'm a superuser kinda guy anyway, and not sure I want to use Kingroot. I'll google Droid tool to see how it works.

I can confirm kingroot works.
infinix hot 2 5.1.1
I have the same problem with the same device and king root keeps failing any idea what I'm doing wrong? I've tried the OTA and pc versions.
The update with the November security patch can't be rooted for now. I have tried all rooting softwares I know of (apks & PC) and none worked. perhaps a little more patience?
if you wish to root,
flash twrp
flash superuser zip
I'm presently rooted on 11-03 build
