[Q] Alarm Clock app location based - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My previous phone was the SGS 4 in the Alarm you could make it location based. So the alarm you set would only go off at a predefined location and time. I used it at work for my break time and when it was time to go home. The N6 does not do this out of the box well at least that I can see anyway. Does anyone know an app I can get that does this I have checked the app store and can not find one?

My previous phone was also a SGS 4 and I was completely unaware of this lol. Have you tried using Google Now? I know it's supposed to be able to sound an alarm when you reach a destination (i.e. wake you up at your bus stop) so I would imagine it should also be able to create an alarm at X time at work.

Well now you have me wondering if I installed an app that enabled that to work that way. I did find this one Alarm Clock Gps but you can not dismiss the alarm so it keeps on going off. The app author is looking to add an auto dismiss but not sure if iy will work the way I want it to.

It would appear that 4.4.2 was the last version with this wonderful feature. What idiot decided it was a good idea to remove it? Sheesh.

Custom alarm

Does anyone have an idea why the alarm stops so quickly on the Kaiser?
I mean it seems as if it goes off once for a minute or two and then that's it.
I have not ONCE woken up from it.
Is there a registry tweak to make it just keep going and how do you input custom alarm sounds, I need something with a higher volume/pitch than the built in Alarm5 (the only one that's even close to be annoying enough).

Where you set you alarm, you are able to select "Repeat sound", although this does not work properly either.
But quite frankly, the built in alarm on WM6 is the poorest alarm I've ever experienced. It has few functions, few options, and few way to customize it.
But if you want a different ringtone, you can create a short(max 5-6 seconds) .wav file, and put it in the windows folder. Make sure it's not too large, either. Then you should be able to select it in the alarm menu
Is there any good alarm apps for WM6 then?
I don't have an ordinary alarm clock and I've used my cell phone for years as an alarm clock, this is the first phone I've had that can't do this simple task properly.
I have all the options check for the alarm, still it only rings for a minute or two so if I don't wake up immediately I'm screwed.
Don't want to miss any flights or appointments because of this so I really need something to replace it with.

Yes. If the ringtone is short, it stops ringing after a short while. I have an alarm tone of about 6 seconds, so it keeps going a while longer for me. But the alarm function for this phone is not designed for waking people up, I'm afraid. Only notify you.
SPB-Time is a great app for managing alarms and such
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/time/?en
The downside is that it costs about 15$. But SPB is a great company, so I believe they deserve those 15$ instead of just downloading it off the net. I've tested it, and I found it a great app
I still haven't found a proper free solution, though.
try StopTime by Jonathan Sachs. it never fails to wake me up.
Look over there...
Same discussion with more proposals for custom alarm. after I read this I got pTravelAlarm on my Niki and I think that will be the one.
Cheers,
jekk.

Alarm when sound is off

in Garmin`s newest ROM i saw that you can set an alarm to go off even if all sounds are turned off or on vibrate.
I have Dutty`s ROM now and there is no such a feature. Does anybody know how to make that happened ?
If you've installed opera - known bug
Latest build fixes it - do a search there is a thread

Completely different matter. He means that normally when the phone is set to vibrate alarms will not sound (and the phone warns about it if you set an alarm while sound is off).
I however don't have a solution or hint...
what i meant was that normally if sound is off or on vibrate , alarm would not go off.
But Garmin`s newest rom has a clickable box under settings/clocks&alarms that allows alarm to go off with phone being set to Silent.
It would be very useful to have without installing 3rd party software
SPB Time allows you to do that... It's not a ROM fix, but would allow the alarm to go off while the phone is set to silent. I think they give you a free two-week trial... I like it, for the most part, but I have ones set regularly and if I'm somewhere and silence my phone, but don't turn the alarm off, it has created a disturbance... Not good in a movie theater...

Random / Phantom Alarm going off?

I'm currently running EnergyRom3.0 series (i believe the 6.05.2009 version) and for some reason every single day at 11:11am and 11:18am the alarm will go off?
obviously there is no alarm set either of those times and all alarms that are set are turned off anyways..I have checked both the Manila alarm settings, as well as through settings/clocks and alarms...both are the same and neither have any alarm set for that..
I've searched around and it seems this is known as a "phantom alarm" that used to occur on older 6.0roms? Either way, the only fix/bandaid was to use SK Tools to clear duplicate notifications..well SK tools isn't free and I don't particularly want to pay for an app that might not fix this..
Other than reflashing, does anyone have an idea how to clear this alarm??
Any help will be greatly appreciated..this is beginning to drive me crazy as every day at work it sounds..even when the phone is on silent..I suppose I temp fix it by setting the notifications to not play sound when phone is on silent but would prefer to perm fix/clear this..
Thanks in advance!
check your calendar. Maybe you have a notification set to everyday and set to remind you.

just checked to confirm and nothing there..i have never used the calendar and it is just a standard alarm that goes off..same tone and snooze/dismiss options as any normal alarm i just cant turn it off...
That sometimes happens when you mess up your database.
Did you restore any data from an earlier backup?
Try to set all of your alarms first, then unset them. Sometimes that works.
There are programs to edit the notification queue, delete duplicate alerts and so on. Try to google some and give it a try.
Good luck!
nope no back up done, just a fresh flash and activesync when it was done..
i also do set all 3 alarms everyday..i just have a few more unwanted one that also go off..the alarms sounds even if all other alarms (note different times too) are set to off..
also today, for some reason all text messages i recieve are said they were recieved an hour prior, well coincidentally my random alarm went off an hour earlier too...
i will see what i can find as far as freeware goes..
thanks

Alarm snoozing by itself

Guys - if you are using the new Ok Google from any screen option, you may want to make sure your alarm works ok - I had to turn of the any screen option as my alarm was self snoozing with it on. (see the last 3 posts here: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=43430#c163)
Mods - I didn't see this posted already, but if it's a dupe, please delete,

I am not using ok google but if I have 2 alarms set then neither will go off, but if I set one or 3 or more they all work. Only issue is with 2 alarms. I had the issue though going back to my old HTC Eris and early versions of android.

Thanks for the information! I've been searching for this solution for two days. I thought it had to do with setting the timer with OK Google.:good:
Glad I was able to help -
A bit more detail, it seems the G2 alarm has the issue here - I replaced my alarm with "Simple Alarm Clock Free" and can now use Ok Google Everywhere. I plan to update to the premium version shortly.

I played with it a little more. It seems like the initial alarm is "snoozed" but the subsequent "snooze alarms" have the sound. Makes sense since my alarm worked with the OK Google Everywhere. I never noticed that it went off 10 minutes late. This would indicate if you set your G2 alarm early by your snooze time, it should get you up on time (YMMV). I only noticed the issue because I set the timer via Google Now. No workaround for that one though!

Alarm clock Xtreme free/paid

Ever since I got my Pixel 4 XL I've been having trouble with the alarm clock extreme free app staying on and waking me up when it's supposed to. The alarm gets killed in the background because of Android 10. I have every imaginable setting set for it supposedly to make sure it doesn't get killed in the background but everyday it never wakes me up because it never runs. Does anybody else have the app and have a solution for this because email support isn't helping right now. I use the app because it has a crescendo alarm that slowly wakes me up and I don't know of any other apps that have the same thing that are customizable like this app is. Otherwise I would probably switch to one that works. Hopefully some of you have the app and are using it successfully and can give me a solution to why it keeps shutting off when the phone is asleep. Thank you for your help in advance.
I used that app in the past but stopped after reports of its developer tracking users and other security concerns... but have you tried changing the app's battery optimization to "not optimized?" Changing to "not optimized" is my first go-to fix for anything that acts weird.
Changed everything that was related to battery or optimization but it's still not working. If there was another alarm app on the play store that had crescendo alarms I would change to that one. So far I don't see any like that though.

Timely has crescendo alarms, but I've noticed similar behavior as you're describing with yours. I just started using the stock clock app for mine until I find a different solution.
In case you haven't considered it -- Android 10 also introduced "adaptive battery" where you can add or remove apps under the "restricted apps" section.

That's one of the first things I checked. It wasn't restricted. If it was I could have blamed the alarms not going off on that lol.
got it. figured i'd try. it's the first thing I do nowadays when I do a fresh install... ie turn off battery optimization on important apps, like google voice and gmail.
alternate solution in case others haven't mentioned it... the stock android clock does have a 'gradually increase volume' option - but it's an app-wide option... not specific to each alarm. I use the stock clock and it works consistently... it's never missed an alarm.

I would definitely use the stock clock to ensure compatibility but it only goes up to 60 seconds for gradually raising the alarm. I need at least 5 minutes of gradual sound so I don't throw my phone across the room lol
