[UNOFFICIAL] Xposed Regarding Samsung ROMs on Lollipop - Xposed General

From rovo89's post
Regarding Samsung ROMs: No progress. No ETA. No promise that it will be supported, although I don't exclude it either. It's simply unclear what further differences between their and AOSP's ART variant come up.
There are two ways to help bring Xposed for Lollipop to Samsung ROMs.
1. If you like his work, feel free to donate.
2. Track down some developers to do the research on Samsung ART.
If Samsung users want Xposed, then we all need to help.

Thank you. I sent mine a few hours ago.

I donate Xposed for Samsung TW S6 edge. Because i love xposed, and still wait... Guys please donate Rovo for xposed TW...
9RV26906RW4251417

Also donated for Xposed on the S6 edge.

Money will help but skilled Samsung ART devs is better option. Since Xposed is not full time job or so, donations dont make rovo89 coding more.
Even LG started messing ART code what is not good.

I believe in Rovo

Are you really saying that rovo89 will develop a version for us Samsung Lollipop users ONLY IF we donate some money??
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1

No. I am not saying that.
I am saying that we need to Support the Developers. Samsung users need to show support in numbers.

Do not donate him in order to get something done, thats like paying him to do something. Donate for what he has done and help him with his future work instead.

Exactly. Donate because you like his work. I liked Xposed on 4.4 and I contributed because of that. I hope someday to have Xposed on TW roms.

Samsung really has their own form of ART? How can that be?

no...
that does not make any sense, i think

As you all might be able to tell, I just spent a few minutes cleaning up the garbage in this thread. Having said that, I suggest sticking to the topic at hand and also abiding by the forum rules.

For the longest time rovo89 didn't even accept donations. It wasn't until Google decided to make ART the default and sole Android runtime that he changed his mind. I imagine because porting Xposed to ART is such a massive undertaking and that he very likely has some development costs such as time and bricked devices associated with it, but that's just a personal guess.
I'm no developer so the best way that I can support his efforts is by donating to the cause. The majority of users feel the same way, hence the suggestion. I'm willing to bet that rovo would rather have some solid dev contributions than monetary ones.

Maybe it works on S4 I9505 with workaround?!
Hi there,
I already know that the Samsung Lollipop stock roms TW-based Roms aren't supported...
But on this page from Phonearena some PeterK. claims that it's possible to get it working with a workaround, and in the comments (see comment 4 & 6) the author claims also, that he made this on a S4 i9505 TW-Rom.
Did anyone try it and find it working also?
Would be very good news if it's true and finally I would update also
Thx for your help with this!

Yeah, but he replies to someone who says that it won't work with TW by saying it will work
so normally it should be logic, that he meant stockrom with TW... But right he didn't say it explicitly
And here's what's in the comments:
"4. RandomUsername posted on 16 Feb 2015, 10:57 +1
I read that it doesn't work with TouchWiz.

6. PeterK. posted on 17 Feb 2015, 01:16 +1
An S4 (GT-I9505) was being used for the purposes of this guide, so it will work."
Anyway... Could it be that Samsungs modified ART isn't integrated to all models n therefore it could work on some? Right now I'm to busy to check but after some time I'll give it a try... if there isn't an official solution till then

Will we see exposed framework for art anytime soon or even ever?

What do you guys think. I don't even care about custom Roms anymore since I can use xposed to do almost anything I could possibly imagine. Are there any hopes of getting a similar tool to modify Roms running art.

Unlikely, as it needs Dalvik to work (this is why Xposed doesn't work with ART)

The Xposed dev said he had a lot of work to do on it, I think though he has certain aspects of it working and in testing, am I'm sure he'll let us know is and when it's ready.

Yeah he doesn't want to do too much work based on the developer preview as its not a baseline. Subject to massive change.
Its a lot of work because ART is not JiT based, so it cannot intercept code at time of execution because its pre-loaded
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Why is this posed in an N6 forum?
because Nexus 6 will be the 1st true phone to use the new ART and no Dalvik.
I remember the Dev saying that xposed will be ready once ART is finalized. He has already put a lot for work into the module so why let it die off with 4.4.4?
Yeah the first modules I'm installing is XMultiWindow then GravityBox for my PIE control on the right side of the screen, talk about a optimized Nexus phablet setup...
Rovo has stated that Xposed will eventually support ART, just not immediately. Certain elements of Xposed are already in development for ART, he's just waiting for the final release of Lollipop to do the heavy lifting because it wouldn't make sense to develop the Xposed Framework based on an experimental build of Android.

Go to the xposed tread or G+ - you're not going to find updates here. But no, not really.
You'll see it when it's ready, the developer does this in his free time and as a hobby. He doesn't get paid for it.
Asking for timelines from developers is a huge no no. No one can answer that question for you and even if someone could they wouldn't make any promises that they can't keep.

I thought I was not clear on my question. I did not mean to ask this from developer. I asked the community or other members here who are following this or if anyone knows anything about the xposed framework to just update whats going on.
I never meant to ask the developer to provide the timeline of-course.
Thanks though.

I was thinking the same thing -greenboy-. I really appreciate the things the devs have done for this community and the things they made possible really made my day to day life easier. I also made sure I donate to the dev whenever I use something useful.
I believe that "assuming" that a forum user is asking for specific timelines is a huge no no. Poster is simply asking for updates which he clearly communicated. We could have helped these users better by pointing them to the right forum or we can simply remind them to use the search button.

I just think it was how the question was phrased. Asking for an ETA is against the rules and the way the question was phrased seemed a little like that. A better phrasing perhaps would have been "do you think Xposed will ever work?"

[Q] Roms for S5 mini - Support from XDA Devs and Users

Hello everyone,
Since S5 mini have been released there's no Rom for this model, we realize today that None of Developpers are caring about phones of the mid-range anymore. Specially S5 mini.
I'm about in this topic to invite all XDA Users to help us to donate for a developers to get a device.
Who would be willing to help get phone out to a developer?
Who could start donating to invite developpers to support this phone ?
Please who are interested, interact with this topic.
Cheers.
i would donate up to 20 Bucks!! i have the s5 mini since 3 month and nothing was going on !! really strange, dont know why!
Ill contribute 20 pounds sterling, Id like a rom with no samsung rubbish, no SEandroid restrictions, and ability to rw to extsd as it used to be allowed in earlier android versions. Ill keep an eye on this thread. Peace.

But you do not need Custom Rom for this.
Root your Mobile Phone and install the SD Fix from Playstore.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix&hl=de
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jrummy.sdfix&hl=de
fone is rooted with twrp recovery, Ive tried that 'sd fix' and two or three others ive found(xposed etc.) none work for me, not sure if SElinux recent default permission change to 'Enforcing' is to blame (and Ive tried the various so called fixes for that too...no luck) if it is then its another reason to want the old option of CHOICE (ie Permissive/Enforced etc.). The best allround 'fix' is a rom that has no rubbish restrictions, bloat, limitations, etc. Thanks anyway for the heads up.
Nice to hear that from You ! We wait for others to react and join us.
We will search for Developpers to satisfy our needs as long as others members contribute and participate.

Fingers crossed
I'd gladly donate 10€ for a stock clean lollipop ROM or even better for CM11. Count me in.
also I see USB OTG is working if enabled in kernel (see previous post) it would be good to add this to the list of things wanted/ not wanted in a new ROM, peace.
I would donate another 20 EUR
Support this idea and i will donate too! AOSP is the best.
i want a custom rom too
I think the main problem here is the price of the device.
Once the price drops, there will eventually be some devs interested in the s5 mini.

Note Edge vs. Note 4 ROMS/development

So I've had the Edge for a while now and just got the lollipop update. Don't get me wrong I LOVE my device, but I am a root/flash freak and I really enjoy all the hard work that is given by the developers to help our devices be that much more cutting edge. I told myself I wouldn't root my device at least until after the lollipop update, then I would look into customizing my device. However the issue is there is LITTLE TO NO development for the edge.. Coming from a long history of galaxy devices this is something I'm not used to experiencing.. I have been waiting patiently for it to pick up but nothing seems to be moving..
I've said all that to say/ask this.. Is there much difference in the development for the note 4 vs the note edge, are there any custom ROMs that are compatible with both devices? If so what are they? Any themes that are compatible with both devices? Any developers willing to offer a little development here and there? Any way I can help with that? I mean I know this is asking alot. And I'm not trying to come off as a douche, don't need the "smart alek" responses as I am being sincere here.... Sorry I hope I'm not breaking any OP rules either.. HEELLLPPPP... Lol, naw but frfr..?????

There is a difference in the sense that you will always have SOMETHING to flash. We have AOSP builds where developers are updating every other day. We have a stock base rom by Tekk and he literally update about twice a week. Now that lollipop is here, we are waiting on developers to update or they are in the process of perfecting their roms to where Kitkat was. Development is up and running...as far as coming out with new features and what not, not so much. I will suggest you look around...be our guest, a sip here and a spoon full there while examining the change-logs and comments

Really pointless thread. If you've followed any of the other AOSP request threads, you'll know that it's a very complicated and involved task. Amassing "+1" posts isn't going to motivate anyone more to take on such a task.
On a more personal note, I don't know why someone would buy a device like the Note 8 just to strip it of all of its features. Personally, I bought my device because of all the features Samsung has put on it. I wouldn't put AOSP on this, likely even if someone paid me, because it would defeat the purpose of having this device in the first place.

We all have different opinions and preferences, so I think we all belong here. Of course support for devs is always welcome, but a +1 thread may not be the most effective way to go about getting what you want...They can already see the view count on aosp-related threads after all. Maybe try reaching out directly instead.

Well, devs, I think, try to develop roms to attain a better experience, adding some features, taking out some not very popular ones, in general to make the overall performance better, as Max Terrible here stated, buying a note series device to strip it down of ALL the features that make it what it is, in my opinion, is pointless, to that effect, you should get a pixel device, clean pure android out of the box

Do explain to me how having a thread full of people posting +1 to try and convince a dev to make an AOSP ROM, is considered supporting the dev?
I definitely support the devs and the great work they do on here, but recruiting a mob to basically create a petition for someone to do something you want, is not what I define as support.
I assure you, any and all devs working on the Note 8 are aware of the very, very small group of people that want an AOSP ROM.

And u might be knowing samsung way of updates so aosp rom etc is very help to have a taste of latest updates. This was the situation with Lenovo p2. But dev's eventually got in and now they have a great development curve.... the p2 users donated money for one dev to buy p2 for development and well. That was initiated by a user. And development kickstarted soon after.

But first, we need to organize users who would be able and willing to donate. Once enough people are there and we can figure out on total if the amount offered is sufficient enough, we can start contacting dev's. After we have a dev ready to help, then start pooling in money and purchase the set and send ot to the dev.

just a heads up. according to XDA rules. donation threads have to be created by the developer itself who is interested in the device development. he has to green lit such a thread with an XDA admin. if it gets created by forum users it gets closed pretty soon as it is against the rules.
so first step would be finding an recognized developer willing to spend his free time on the device.

just a heads up. according to XDA rules. donation threads have to be created by the developer itself who is interested in the device development. he has to green lit such a thread with an XDA admin. if it gets created by forum users it gets closed pretty soon as it is against the rules.

two options comes to mind.
A: look into devs that were or still are maintaining Samsung (Snapdragon based) phones and might be interested in the A70.
B: look into devs that maintain a device that has the same SoC (or SoC family) as those devs will have less than half as much work (it does depend on how far the kernel deviated from code aurora code) to maintain a second device if they have already established the knowledge on the primary device.
E.T.A. Unknown..

The Operative Phrase Here Is: "Still Maintaining Samsung (Snapdragon Based) Phones".
In the U.S... Samsung Snapdragon devices have their bootloaders locked down.. ( Per Carrier's Request ) so you have Zero ROM Development..
IMO.. you have to love this device for what it brings to the table stock ( Widvine L1, Themes, AR Emoji, UI, Gaming etc ) just in case nothing Custom sprouts..

I am trying to make twrp for the device. Because this is my first time, I need device tree to be prepared. As of now, my attempts have not given any results. If you can help, would be great.
