Hey Guys, I came into a problem.
Everytime I connect my s6 to my PC it opens autorun and asks me if I want to run Verizon mobileL. I try to switch the phone to Media through The scroll down menu, but my pc doesn't ask me to access my phone's storage, and I already have installed the drivers as well. any help on what i can do?
when this happens to me i usually unplug/plug then choose to open in explorer then it appears on My Computer but that Verizon part is bothersome
yea it is bothersome, but I already tried opening it through explorer. I tried to see if it would go under my pc but it's not there. My phone seems to be under devices and printers but I can't seem to access it, and it's driving me crazy as I'm trying to put in folders in my device

Hi all, can anyone sort this -
When i connect via usb i choose 'disk drive' to transfer files/music etc to the phone. Everty time i try to transfer anything it says on the PC (windows xp) 'cannot copy xxxx - the path is too deep'
Has anyone else had any problems or does anyone have any ideas? Thanks
My first reaction is to say that wherever you're trying to copy from or too has a long pathname. Are you trying to copy individual files or whole folders, and where are you trying to copy from/to (e.g. My Documents)?

It doesn't matter how long the filename is it still says it. I've tries individual files and full folders but still the same. And i've tried copying from/to all sorts of different places but still no joy???
Hmmm. Maybe the way that Windows is transferring files is malfunctioning. This is definitely an advanced problem, which requires an expert.
*Waits for expert*
First of all, try another USB port. If that doesn't work, try this, in order. stop after the diamond works:
1- uninstall/reinstall activesync, then try accessing files with it.
2- Stop the Diamond usb drive by clicking the safely remove device icon. Then plug it again.
3- Uninstall all USB Root hub in your windows device manager, then reboot computer.
4- Hard Reset device.
5- Reinstall Windows
6- Return Device.
Can you try moving a file name with 8 chacters or less from your c:\ to the phone? Eg c:\song.mp3 to your phone
Also, what OS are you using? What file system does the phone 'disk' show up as in windows?

It shows as fat32. ?
this simply means the files are under a folder tree with too deep or too long with characters. such as:
C:\My Documents and Settings\Andrew Loh\Documents\my structural folders\andrew loh\scanning\pdf\finanacial documents\banking stuff\hong kong bank\bank statement\date 2008-06-09\page 1\200806091211224412.pdf
Simpliest thing first.....take your diamond to another computer.....confirm if it's computer problem or diamond problem

It seems related to FAT system I guess.
Could you try to format the disk from PC when connected as DISK mode and try to copy file or folder again?
This might be helpful.

Right - i've tried to transfer files from a different pc via 'disk mode' and it worked fine.
I can transfer stuff from mine via active sync but it takes ages transferring albums etc. It must be some setting on my computer causing the problem, although i don't have problems transferring things to sd cards etc. Any ideas?
For the love of God...
Hi All,
This seems like a very old problem but as far as I can tell, was never resolved or someone didn't share their solutions with the rest of us lovely newbies!
Unfortunately for me I am now having the same problem and after searching the forums it led me to this thread (along with two others that didn't have any difinitive answers either). When trying to copy anything that is within a folder from my comp (be it from a partitioned drive or the desktop of the root C: drive) I get the error "Cannot Copy ****ath is too deep".
After much trawling on the internet I found some third party software that should have solved the problem. No such luck , when using that I get a "semaphore timeout error". Next I try to direct extract from a .rar file to the internal memory and it tells me the reason it can't complete is that "the disk may be full".
As it stands now; I've formatted my phone's internal storage (and then had to transfer all programs one by one back over from my comp), enabled DMA transfer from the Device Manager in Windows XP and still no luck at all.
Could someone please shed some light on this as (as you could probably tell by the long winded post) I'm at my wit's end with this despite loving the phone in general!
Cheers in advance,
Night
I also have the same problem,
When i use activesync, big files like movies can only be put on the device itself, not the internal memory of 4g.
When i use the diskdrive option, the computer sees it als an usb storage, but files cannot be transferred, because of the "path is too deep" error.
in dutch it is called "pad is te lang", any options?
Also does someone know where to buy the official extended battery in Holland, because bol.com cannot deliver and other sites are way expensive.
Ok, just fixed it.
I turned off the activesync software in windows.
Connected the device to my usbconnector on the back of the pc (a 2.0 usbdrive)
Then it worked! Now 755 mb of .mp4 movie on the device...
i dont know if someone still got such a problem. I got it today and solved it with flashing an other rom on it from the Ruu.

Hello Dear XDA Members,
I need some help with syncronizing my Phone Contacts To Gmail.
Im not a Newb User At Galaxy And Tried Many Methods.
First I Edited All of my contacts via Kies And Saved It On The Phone And On PC As *.scv File.
*When Im Importing The File to Gmail Most Contacts Are Shown On the phone without the phone number.
*Ive Tried To Create A New File Via Excel Using The Following Headliners:
First Name Last Name Phone Number 1 Mobile Number And nothing ive tried didnt work.
Contacts Are Agian Shown Without Numbers Or Numbers Show In "Notes" And Its Not Possible To Call.
*Ive Tried Also To Mark Only The "Phone Cotacts" And Export It To SD Card, But Its Making Me a File with 1453Contacts (I have only 180 On My Original List, Only 10% Of them has 2Numbers Or More.) (i have on my phone display total of 180contacts and my sim has 330contacts but its not marked.)
And Than When I Reload The File From SD Card To Gmail Trough The Phone, It Gives Me Many DOUBLES, Missing Numbers Etc...
Ive Been Tring To Do That All Day Long And Just Cant Find The Solution.
Can Anyone Help Me?! Please :]
Thank You Very Much Guys
Try this http://www.fjsoft.at/en/ (It's free) and use kies only for rom updating (only thing it can do properly )
Enjoy.
Even I am in need of managing my contacts & wondering what work flow should I adopt so all gets sync with phone & gmail., I tried MyPhoneExplorer its a good software I tried connecting my samsung galaxy I9003 but it doesn't work as yet with this new model, though it supports I9000.
Kies I find useless except the samsung official stuff updating,

uninstall/reinstall the phone/modem driver or MyphoneExplorer?
I wish it connects with I9003, but it says "connection to phone could not be established, no device attached to usb".
I am connecting the phone to LCD monitor usb hub not to the rear usb ports, could that be an issue?

MyphoneExplorer of course ^^ (on your PC), check if the client part is installed on your SGS too.

The software work as a client side (app on your sgs) / server side (app on your PC), in order to comunicate and synchronize, so when you install PhoneExplorer on your PC it install an APP on your SGS. Just uninstall/reinstall it on your PC and it'll push it automaticaly on your phone.
Oh I didn't connect the phone while I installed the MyPhoneExplorer that could be the reason.
Let me try this.

Make sure the debug mode is checked too (Settings -> applications -> devlopment -> USB Debuging)
Ok Thanks that finally solved the problem.
(it created few more problems while installing & showed a failed driver) but it took some time over 5-7 mins to initialize the modem & then showed it connected.
My phone explorer is great in terms of feature you can dial via computer receive calls via computer, send & receve sms via computer, edit/add contacts much better to do on computer than on small keyboard.

Make sure kies is not running in background process and try it with the stock USB cable directly connected on the PC (maybe a hub issue).
Ok all problem solved now,
do I need to switch off debugg usb settings again when I need kies, its not connecting with kies now or is that background service of kies (which I killed) is mandatory to connect with kies?

My PC cannot find "CDC_serial" and "SAMSUNG_android" drivers when i plug my samsung galaxy note in. There are red crosses next to those drivers stated. When i go to "computer > phone", everything folder from my galaxy note loads but when i go into one specific folder, its empty inside. Example: "computer > phone > music > NOTHING".

Install Kies and latest updates of Kies.
Thanks guys, but I already switched off debugging mode AND install the latest Kies. Nothing works. The computer detects the mobile, and those folders are there. But those folders are empty. If I were to trasnfer songs into my galaxy note, I have to bluetooth them.

Did you have phone plugged in while installing Kies?
Also, right click My Computer. Properties. Device Manager. Do you see missing drivers flagged? If Kies is installed maybe try manually pointing that driver to Kies folder to see if it finds a driver.
Try rebooting PC with phone connected? I had similar issue with another phone.
Thanks a lot. But it still doesn't work. I downloaded CDC_serial and installed it but it still won't work. Help!
Sometimes it says "MTP" not working and sometimes "bluetooth periperal" not working. And sometimes it works, but the files inside are empty. It worked before. And one day it just stopped working. Is it because of applications I downloaded?
Thanks guys.
Uninstall Kies and the drivers you installed and try re-installing them. The title is misleading. Your USB is indeed working, just that the PC is not detecting the same. are you on GB or ICS?

I don't quite understand, when you want to transfer something TO these folders, why do you care if they are empty NOW ?
It not solution
File expert would be better option than bluetooth. transfers over network.Just tempory fix till you get it sorted.
really sorry for the misleading title. Yes, the USB is working but the files are empty. When I use paste songs into my Music folder, they won't allow me. I tried using Kies, and the same thing. It says "Copying Item" forever. The Music folder of my phone shown in the computer is empty, but the songs are actually in my phone. They're playable.
Really wanna solve this problem because I have a lot of photos needed to be transfered. Thanks a lot again guys!

Those of us running early ICS Roms have the same problem, USB/PC connectivity disabled. Downloading Droid Explorer was more than satisfactory workaround for me.
You install it on your PC, start it, connect your phone to PC, and DE immediately sees all your partitions, and allows you to shuttle files from PC to your phone and back.
This program is free, BTW.
I'm still using GB but I heard that this phone can be upgraded to ICS in.. i dont know when. Haven't heard the news yet. Is Droid Explorer available for GB? If I can find an alternative route to transfer files easy like copy and paste, that will be fine. But still.. it bugs me that I can't seem to fix this USB problem.
I just downloaded droid explorer. And when I go in, there are 0 files in there. "phone icon" > phone's name > 0 objects. lol. I have no idea what is wrong with the phone.
Was thinking of just buying a SD card.
Will factory data reset solve this problem?
I have exactly the same problem with my Galaxy Note. Nothing seems to help and I'm really pissed off One evening I checked for software updates and it found one. It was about 72 mb and it took quite a while to install. And I think that was the day when my USB stopped responding.

I just got the Prime R1 HD 16gb today and did TWRP and root. The only issue I've had is for some reason if I move a file onto the phone from my PC with a USB cable, it wont show up. E.G. If I move a file to my downloads folder, it wont be there, but if I download the same file through the phone from the internet it works. I can still see the files I've moved onto the phone from the PC if I use a file explorer, but it wont let me do anything with them. I tried going into the TWRP menu and switched the system off of read only thinking that may help, but it seems to have not done a thing. Complete beginner when it comes to this kind of thing if it isn't obvious. Any ideas?

That sounds familiar to the mtp "bug" Android has had for years.
The media storage database does not update when files are added from mtp.
Some work around that are listed are to use USB transfer instead. (Not used that one before)
Disconnect usb cable clear the data if the media storage app and force close it, then reconnect usb is should rescan the media and rebuild database.
Or just a reboot(I have done this and it usually works)
