[Q] Flashable VZW removal tool for XT1060? - Moto X Q&A

Hi y'all.
I recently broke my XT1060 and I just got a replacement.
Previously I had used a flashable zip to remove all of the VZW bloat and enable free tethering, but I didn't have that file backed up.
Could anybody share a similar file that would work to De-VZWify my XT1060 running 4.4.4?
Thanks!

If you are unlocked , Eclipse ROM will give you all that and more.

Think I found your thread. But looks like it is no longer good.

Thanks for the help. I wish he left the deprecated file up because if I remember correctly I was able to adapt it myself to work with the 4.4.4 update.
I was able to set myself up by deleting all of the VZW apps in Root Explorer and using an Xposed module to enable native tethering. There are probably some VZW libraries still floating around in /system/lib, but that's no big deal.

update to 4.4.4 camera without taking update

I honestly don't want to go through the BS of having to do a bunch of stuff to update my VZW Moto X to 4.4.4, and the only thing I want out of the update is the camera, the dialer isn't important to me. So, is there a way to get the camera enhancements listed in the update without taking the full update?
EDIT: forgot to mention I have the Dev Edition, fully unlocked and rooted.
You can try to extract the camera apk and any supporting files... And see if you can install it. If so great, if not.. Nope.

You would need root I imagine too. For the supporting files to be placed. I'm guessing.

Well extracting the apk is simple enough if you have the 4.4.4 files... But I'm not sure what supporting files might be needed.
I'd definitely do a nandroid backup first.... Cause there's a good chance it could cause issues... And restoring the nandroid would wipe out what you tried.
I read the main camera improvement is due to the 4.4.4 kernel?

That is what I was thinking if it's true. I did not read it from a confirmed source. I just read that here under his notes in this post.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54794179&postcount=725

[Q] How to root verizon lg g2 as of 10/16/2014

Sorry guys but ive been searching already and cannot find anuo to date way yo do this. Towel root doesnt work for an updated VXW LG G2 and niether does stump. Can someone help me out? I really have tried finding this myself but seems like something must have recently changed. Thanks and sorry.
Kdz to 24a will surely work as it is still perfectly rootable.
Stump root using brute force method works on 26A, it is the only working root for 26A, besides KDZing back to 24A, rooting, and updating.
Yep, stump root works with brute force. Takes 5-10 minutes but you'll get there.
Freedom One-Click works as well for installing TWRP. I just did both procedures the other day on a refurb 26A unit I got as a warranty replacement.

I can't help I'm afraid, root hasn't been an issue for me in a very long time, I've been on AOSP ROM since 12B. There are plenty of users who can help here though.

Np thanks. I downloaded latest Stump but wondering how you do the 'brute force' method. Does it auto start a brute force method of sorts?
(that's directed at any one else too)
---------- Post added at 08:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:36 PM ----------
I'm an idiot. You just run it and it auto detects that it has to brute force.
Thanks. I'll let it go and see what it does. :good:
Edit2: Worked great.

I wonder if I should wait to ROM, since we'll get Lollipop by end of next year (at least on Verizon it'll take that long).

26A isn't magic, to custom ROMs is just another radio for the most part... There isn't a huge compatibility difference and just about any aftermarket ROM/kernel built for 24A will work on 26A, and vise versa. In any ROM or kernel read the first few posts, they usually give the requirements for them, notice most say "official KitKat baseband" and not a specific version, although a few ROMs do specify a specific version, always read and ask for each specific instance if your not sure.
I can not get anything to root my phone on 26a. Tried stump and towel , now im debating on going back toot 24a but i don't wanna risk losing everything
Dude you're doing something wrong. Stump worked on the 4 G2 Verizon phones I've tried it on. 26A.
Did you enable usb debugging? Turn off app verify, etc. What happens after it reboots twice after brute force?
Give some more effin info than "it doesn't work".

Hrm, it has to be one of the silly phone settings.
You want: USB Debugging enabled, (next couple ar ein Security settings)Verify Apps disabled, Allow Unknown sources enabled.
Is your phone currently encrypted? Did you enable that feature already? Try removing the lock screen, if you currently have one set.
Uninstall Stumproot. ARE YOU SURE you're on the latest version that can brute force 26A? Enable the above and reinstall. He put out updates once it became available, since people said they were getting "unsupported device" errors.

They could never release them. Please keep calling and emailing them - explain to them that it was THEIR OTA that bricked your device because it didn't have the proper checks in it.
I doubt they will release them. They are used at their service centers tp repair phones which brings in money for repairs. We can only hope that they will be leaked someday. Technically they don't release firmware for non pure edition devices either. Those are leaks, not releases.

If you use Motorola Device Manager to upgrade your OS, it leaves a copy of the fxz on your computer.
Yes, but those files are used to upgrade the phone through mdm. They did not release them to us as a firmware file for us to flash as we want to when we want to.

The firmware stays on your computer until you delete it so think of it however you want to, but they provide us with a piece of software that if you use it gives us the firmware for our device. And we can use that firmware at any time as we see fit.
The firmware is left in this folder:
c:\programdata\motorola\SUE\firmwares
You can flash it as much as you want.

And that's the problem people are trying to treat their device like a pure edition then complaining when something goes wrong.
There's a reason that the files disappear after the update it's to stop people from screwing things up.
Please upload the files if you have it.

Those are not the blankflash files for the MX14. Someone posted a link to those without knowing what they were talking about.
There are no blankflash files for the MX14. The MX14 blankflash files are the 8974 not the 8960.

The bricks started once people decided to downgrade from the 5.1 soak. Instead of downgrading to 5.0, they erroneously downgraded to 4.4.4 then took the 5.0 OTA causing the bricks.
This is entirely motorola's fault for not writing the 5.0 OTA updater script properly. There should be checks in it that prevent the bricks by preventing the 5.0 OTA updater script from trying to patch the 5.1 bootloader.
Complain to Motorola - their faulty prorgramming caused the bricks. At a minimum, they should provide warranty replacements if they won't provide the blankflash files.
So, the files could be find in the firmware, or any other way, or the only way to get them is motorola's release?

A few questions...

Hello fellow XDA members,
I just got the Moto G 2014 and I have been looking into rooting and flashing for this phone. I have a few questions:
1. What is the difference between this variant (XT1072) and the other ones. This has 4G LTE, its that the only difference or does your phones have it as well?
2. Is rooting and flashing worth it? I have been looking at a couple of ROMs and Kernels and I'm not sure whether rooting is the way to go. I have modded all my previous phones but this phone is fast and it rarely has any problems.
3. Do any of the ROMs even support this model or are all the models the same and their shouldn't be any problem flashing?
Thanks for your help [emoji14]

What do you mean? The system apk of the playstore? If so, I can't do that since I am not rooted. Also, why are you posting something like that in another persons thread. I'm sure you will be helped much faster if you create your own thread. I recommend downloading the apk of the internet if you want it, just do a quick google search.

This post should answer your question: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/help/xt1072-compatible-roms-t3068071
I have a Moto G (2014) XT1068 and it doesn't have 4G. I've read posts of devices being bricked because of attempting to install ROMs meant for the regular Moto G (2014) so I wouldn't recommend it. Sadly, there don't seem to be anyROMS for your phone...

However, you can root your phone and install Xposed Framework to get customization features of other ROMs but I think that's about all you can do...

Title is self explanatory of what update is about. I'll let you guys know if there's anything else
For now Samsung Pay fails to initiate. Not sure if it's by design

It's probably a good idea to do that, specially with PDP having an option to export/ import your list of disabled apps.
Haven't run into any issues after taking OTA s but next time I'll take the time to re enable all apps before updating.
