Has anyone else noticed the kit Kat status bar on some apps? I.e. Snapchat textra. Is that because of Samsung or because of the app developer?

If you mean that the status bar stays black, this is because the developers have not updated their apps to Material Design, which assigns a primary colour to the toolbar, and a darker primary colour to the status bar.
No I mean like this. It fades instead of being two different shades. It looked correct on my nexus.

What do you mean? What have they done? It just looks like the devs have used a transparent status bar instead of a coloured one, which is supported in KitKat and above.

As far as I can tell, they did not do that at all. Samsung would have to make that change to EVERY app you install on your phone; they cannot control each app individually. So the fact that some apps have the transparent status bar (KitKat) and some have the solid colour status bar (Lollipop) means that the respective developer of that application is responsible for the colour of the status bar in their own app. I know this because I myself have developed a few applications on Android.

No they wouldn't, they just have to modify the systemui(which handles the transparency) and change effect.
Well I hope they fix it in the next update whoever it is.

Is it possible to have different states of the status bar, eg. lockscreen - 100% transparent, homescreen - 50% transparent, in app - black.
Thanks for any help.

Are you thinking of the i#&@%* status bar?
Android you can only do it one way for all 3 "states".
No I was thinking of how the MIUI Rom has different status bars in different areas. The lockscreen doesn't have the time either, but after you unlock it the time shows back up.

That status bar looks awesome. Would it lag though?
Has anyone figured out how to make the top notification bar transparent? Like Windows 7 Aero for example.
Thanks

Thanks.
I went on the site and enabled transparency and read this:
"if your ROM does not supports transparency -you will not get transparent background."
Does Mosaic III Diet support it?!
You're running Mosaic II which is JVH right? It's SystemUI.apk/res/drawable-hdpi/statusbar_background.9.png
It doesn't really do much just having it transparent like you'd think because the screen area that's used is all below that. Unless something else is modified, wallpaper is cut off right there. You can see the notification tray slide under it and animation effects under it though. That bad thing is the date and notifications use the same image so when they pop up, they're transparent as well and are supposed to cover up the icons on the left, so it slides up this half wide bar that show the icons behind it and that part is 2x as opaque (2 transparencies overlayed) so you can where it cuts off.
Samsung Roms don't support it for the reasons stated above. I have only seen this be able to be don't in HTC based Roms as they support it
Hello,
here i present you the moto x 4.4 white status bar for droid maxx, ideal to use with gravitybox to get the whitish kitkat look.
Obviously Root is required.
Simply put The file in System/Priv-app.
backup the original file just in case you dont like it.
and restart the phone.
These icons ARE NOT VERIZON UGLY 4G/3G Icons.
This file doesnt change Clock and Battery color, thats why you need gravity box.
if this was useful to you press thanks!
Can't you just adjust the colors to white in GravityBox? What is different with this? Just curious.

Its not the same as that because he only changed a few icons or the most used ones, like 3g, 4g and lte, but other than that it shows default blue icons, this one has all the icons from the white kitkat, as its extracted and pasted on the systemui.

Hi everyone!
I'm wondering if I can change things in the statusbar like the size of the center clock i'm using and, also, and most important, if I can slim the bar, similar like the iOS' one.
I'm using CM11 from NovaFusion. Thanks!

Yes you can. Use this xposed module to resize the st & more.
I can slim it, but the size of the icons and clock doesn't change.

Post your issue in the original thread. Anyway, try changing (decreasing it) your dpi in the build.prop (is easy, search how on XDA), default (in CM) is 240,
So, a little while ago I deleted the systemui.apk. and started using apps such as pie pro and tiny apps for basic usage of the phone. I don't know why, but I hate the status bar and constantly on screen navbar, deleting systemui.apk gets rid of both in lollipop, while still preserving the use of the keyboard. This could be done on 4.4 using xposed framework, but as we all probably know. It's not functioning for lollipop yet, or at least three hasn't been a replacement.
My question is, is there a better way to achieve no status bar, no navbar, and fully functioning keyboard. Without getting rid of systemui and everything else it does?
So far everything I've noticed missing, that can't be fixed by tasker, pie pro, moto display, or tiny apps: no screen shots, no recent app draw, notifications don't make sound, and reddit is fun won't open for whatever reason.

Smart Launcher 2 gives the ability to hide the status bar. Does that suffice?
I was looking for a more system wide removal. Would I be able to use apktool, or would I need to use apktool to get rid of it?

I just started using Smart Launcher 2, I've become a huge fan of it. Using it on both my N5 and Moto X. Been using Nova for ages, so the change is nice, and I love how simple it is.

I know on KitKat you can edit the build.prop to get rid of the navbar but I'm not sure if you can still on Lollipop. I'm not a fan of Lollipop so both my Android phones are staying on KitKat. On KitKat, you can either edit or add the line " qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" to get rid of the navbar ( qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 would add it for phones with hardware buttons) but again I'm not sure if that works on Lollipop. Also, this is just for the navbar and has no effect on the status bar. If you are going to try it, make sure to do a nandroid and also make a backup of your unedited build.prop. Proceed with caution, I'm not responsible if anything bad happens.
