Dear all,
Since 2 weeks my Wtach R suddenly shut down with battery level near at 80% and 50%.
You make a full charged, u can use it normally, but when you are near 78/80% it shudown, you hace to restart it, but it shutdown few secs after. Only way is to restart it from the cradle to charge again the battery.
No matter i try to reset, factory reset, resync the watch or my Phone (Lollipop 5.0.2) always the same issue.
When i look on battery Stat, Google Tells me 3h with a full battery charged. Other tools give me totally different and more logical Value.
@ this level my watch is useless
Any idea ?

Yes. First of all update Android Wear app on your phone from apk mirror to newest one - this will extend your battery life. Which google play services do you have?

I have no other idea what would be a problem. I didn't hear about such problems. Maybe try to ship your watch to warranty?

I tried also to downgrade the Android version...No luck...
It's like Battery indicator is totally crazy...I restart the watch, phone is out of bluetooth range...Just had few seconds to see that Battery was @ 13%, then, it shutdowns or crashed, but the watch is shutdown...

Hi, did you try something like this ? https://youtu.be/Kg8-vjZV2g8
Mine was doing the same thing. I tried factory resets, tried running the watch with no apps or custom watch faces installed, etc and it kept happening. I sent mine in for warranty repair. It is being shipped back this week so I'll let you know if LG was able to fix it.
I received the watch back from LG today. They stated that they replaced the touch id chipset. I'll put it through it's paces and let you know if this resolved the random shutting down issue.
Thread digging, sorry, although I'm experiencing the same issue the last few days... I have factory reset the watch changed ROM on my phone, but nothing works... It shutdowns at random times, although the battery is not less than 50-60%.
Its totally weird and I also have lost my warranty papers... :/

For the moment i do not have issue with my watch. The only thing i changed was a complete reset of my Phone (I flashed my HTC M7 with an other 5.1 distribution). Complete resintallation of my watch.
Sounds OK for the moment. In the past 6 month, only have 2 to 4 random shutdown...

Hi, My SGSA I9070 which i bought about 4 months ago is doing some weird ****!
Phone shuts down automatically and doesnt start until the battery is removed and put in again..
after doing that it runs smoothly..
This happens about twice every day for almost past entire week.
Note : My RAM sometimes gets loaded up quickly.. like after rebooting about 200MB of RAM is free which after a few hours is reduced to just 100MB of free RAM..which keeps on reducing further..
I am using a launcher(Next), running stock Gingerbread and have about 90 apps installed on the cell..
Do i need to un-install them? or the launcher? [I dont want to ]
Please help..
You have heavy ram usage. U need to clear that. means remove apps. Next launcher takes a lot of ram. Uninstall apps you dont use ..

u need to root phone to freeze apps. But for convinience, update to jelly bean.. just a seggestion.
Um.. A third party launcher and 90 installed apps..
What could be the problem, makes me wonder...
worked!
I had considered that option before (updating to JB) but have read lot of bad reviews for JB update and since i use next launcher, didnt really matter about the OS..
Any how..
As suggested Un-installed many apps.. some that i didnt need and some i could have done with.. :silly:
but anyway it worked.. :good:
thanks guys for the big help..
Hmm....that's weird. My GT-I9070P on GB could withstand 100+ user-installed apps......
Please help: Samsung GT-I9070 - phone shuts down at 60% battery; Android version: 4.1
Hello everyone,
Hope you are doing well.
I am facing similar issue as nickchets.
I own an unrooted Samsung GT-I9070 (Galaxy S advance). It’s a year and 2 months old now.
Current Android version - 4.1.2
The issue is when the battery is about 60%, the phone shuts down.
Sometimes, the display gets scrambled for a few seconds and then the phone shuts down.
I am attaching some pics of how the phone looks when the display is scrambled for some seconds.
Others, it just shuts down instantly.
In both the above cases, it shuts down like someone pulled the battery out.
The phone doesn't shut down when on charging through AC mains.
I have observed it shut down at 100% charge when it was hooked to my PC for charging.
The issue suddenly started occurring when I picked up my phone 2 days ago.
I have been noticing excessive heating before while playing a game on my phone.
Also (maybe unrelated), someone gifted me a cheap travel charger (the ones that have a battery in them and I can hook it with USB cable to my phone for charging).
I used the same for 5-6 days about 2 weeks ago.
I have tried factory restore via the menu that's triggered by pressing volume up, menu and power button on the phone.
Though the frequency of shutdowns has been reduced, the problem still persists.
I didn't use a memory card but after the reset I've put one in.
As the phone was recently factory-setting restored, I haven't put much apps in (just whatsapp, FB, super backup and click counter).
And not to forget I have apps that Samsung forcibly puts in its phones.
Can this be a battery issue?
Can this be some other hardware issue?
Can this be rom issue?
Is there any app that could determine what’s wrong with the phone is?
Request you to help me on above.
Regards,
Phoebus

Thanks for replying shut_down.
I forgot to add in the details that I had already tried a battery from a friend's phone (same model).
For two hours, my phone's battery was in his phone.. He played songs for two hours.. it worked fine.
I ran my phone on his phone's battery.. my phone restarted twice.
If there is a battery issue, is there any any android app that could let me know that my battery is dead or almost dead ?
Also I read somewhere that trying to spin a mobile phone battery also is a test.. I tried to spin.. it didn't spin.. but applying pressure on one side of the battery seems to wobble it a bit..

shut_down,
Thanks for replying.. its Sunday here today.. no service on Sundays :/ .. will take it to them tomorrow..
One more finding.. it seemed the that the area around the camera was heating up.. I decreased screen brightness to the minimum and to my surprise; its been 2.5 hours now and no restarts.. let me know if this could be related :fingers-crossed: or is just that, God is being nice to me for a while ..
Everyone,
Please feel free to drop in suggestions.. I am reluctant to give my phone to service guys.. its too far away and they would keep it with them for days in the name of "checking the phone and finding the root cause"..

Thanks shut_down and R_a_z_v_a_n for replying.
The code *#0228# works.
Temperature was displayed by the utility. I observed it was between 27 - 32 degree Celsius.
I am attaching some screenshots of the Battery utility.
Request you to help me know how the screenshots can lead us down to cause of the issue.
Lowering the screen's brightness prevented the shutdown.
I was able to take a call for 55 minutes without crashing. The call ended but the phone didn't crash. :highfive:
The phone survived the night and was ON when I woke up.
I increased the brightness and the phone shut itself down as soon as I dialed a number. :crying:
Also another observation, I accidentally dropped my phone from about an inch above a flat surface.
The screen scrambled (as shown in the screenshots attached in my first message) and the phone got shut down.
Please let me know if the above observations indicate towards any causes of the issue.
Okay so I've put Tizen on, via Kies. It works great but wtf is going on with the battery life?
It claims to give more days, and mine is draining like you wouldn't believe.
I unplugged off a full charge this morning, at 11am. It's now 8.30 pm (9½ hours) and the battery is at 54%. All that's installed is the default apps plus 2 additional watches.
Please someone help me, this has effectively made my watch completely lame if I have to charge it every day

Mine was a bit wonky right after I updated. Do a hard reset via recovery. When you reconnect it to Gear Manager don't check restore. You'll have to rebuild it but it should fix your battery issues.

That's a good suggestion, thank you. I'll give it a go.
That's done it. 2 hours of use this morning and it's still reporting 100%, not 73%! Ha.
Cheers
Same problem here. Had i to uninstall Gear Manager too from the smartphone?
Or is it enough to hard reset the watch?
thanks
Is that with motion detection on or off?
I upgraded to Tizen and motion detection seems to be a bigger drain than on Null 23. Even when the watch is not on my wrist and sitting motionless on the desk.
motion detection is off
Same problem here. First updated via Kies and gear lasted for about 12 hours only. Resets and reinstall of GM didn't help. Decided to flash the gear with the new NF1, reseted after install, reinstall the GM again and first change lasted only about 13 hours. I will give it another day or two and then going to ask for replacement, this is crap.
WatchStyler & Motion on (Actually either/or) are both battery killers still as per Android - same with Tizen.
no motion, no watchStyle. Yesterday i did a hard reset, without restore flag, same problem.

I have the same problem. The latest update brought several problems. ****
I was having the exact same issue, but I powered off this morning, and swapped my battery. When I powered back up, everything was back to normal.
Nothing changed that I'm aware of, and I did try rebooting the phone a couple of times previously with no improvement, so I've no idea what happened...
so after a few days the problem is gone .. things back to normal .. have no idea why ..
hi hope someone can help with this.
I have a huawei p9 32gb EU version
model EVA-L09 emui 4.1.1 (still on) android 6.0 (says no update available)
build number is: EVA-L09C432B182
An issue seems to have developed in the past 2 weeks (i've had it almost a year) - it has decided to close itself down when I try to use the camera. I am using the default/stock camera app not a 3rd party one. I want to make clear it does not happen every time seems (at the moment) quite random/intermittent
The battery was at 79% the first time it happened and a few days ago it was at 55% and it happened. Auto flash was on but flash not activated at the time the phone shut down.
The first time I thought I just hadn't realised the battery was that low but when I plugged it in to charge it said 79% on screen.
A few days ago when it was 55% I was able to put the phone back on after it shut itself down and it was fine/behaved normally since putting it back on - the battery appeared to drain at the usual rate. I even took a few other photos after switching it back on & it didnt shut down. I had been using camera the same morning when the battery % would have been higher & it didn't shutdown then. (& i actually took quite a few photos during that time).
Hope someone out there has an idea of how to fix this issue, though i'm thinking its maybe the a sign the battery may be failing?
I also have this issue, I think it may be a sign the battery is beginning to fail, or possibly the cpu gets too hot. (again first started happening around a year into ownership)
Under 70% battery if i take a bunch of photos it can shut down but would normally turn back on again with 20% less battery. if battery gets less than 50% then if it powers off, it may power back on breifly and then go back to the exclamation mark for empty battery and shut down.
I have tried following the guide to calibrate the battery (let it charge to 100%, turn off, plug back into charger) but it made no difference.
What did help a bit though was ensuring cloud photo apps (google photos/onedrive etc) were set to only upload photos while on wifi and charging.
Hi, I have the same issue with my EVA-L09 with EMUI 4.1.1 build EVA-L09C900B182 bought in october 2016. Shuts down after shooting few photos/videos and can't start it again without plugging it. Once plugged, the battery level seems to be the same as before the shutdown. Seems to happen with any battery level.
If anybody can help solve this, that would be great. I can't decide to change the battery for the moment without certainty that it would fix this issue.

I am having the same problem with my L09 and the P9 camera app. Was on Nougat so rolled back to MM in attempt to fix. Also tried a faster SD. No luck with either.
No such issues with other camera apps from Play Store, but they don't use both sensors.
Anybody resolved this problem definitely yet? If yes, how?
Thanks.

I have the same problem since the last 6-9 months.
However I noticed that the problem occurs when I make photos when I'm outside and the weather is windy/damp. I never had the problem when shooting photos inside, always outdoors.
The solution is indeed connecting the phone with a charger (or portable battery) or wait for a couple of hours.
It could be a problem with the battery but it is strange that the phone is ok again after charging a couple of minutes. If it was moisture this idid not yet vanish in just a couple of minutes. Maybe a sensor which is not working ok (or the firmware is not resetting/reading it correctly) ?
I'm thinking of sending my phone into repair for this problem, however I think this is a difficult to identify problem because it does happen randomly (as it seems).
I'm having the same problem, after battery goes under 50% It drains fast, bellow this it only takes 30min of use to shoot down, taking a few photos just makes it drain even faster. And when plugged to the charger it suddenly gets up to 40% . I tried everything software wise with no luck. I bought a new OEM battery planning to change it this week, then I'll post the results.
I am facing the same problem L09C432B395. I observed its somehow being related to cold temperatures outside in my case - it happens only when walking outdoor and the phone is in my hand for a while - so its probably cools down. And than when pressing the camera button I see the message "waiting to sharpen the photo" and then beeeep! battery down to 1% and phone shutdowns. Regardles the battery level.. happening accidentaly and randomly, but only once a week.. and only when taking phone outdoor in a winter time. I did factory reset, re-installed the latest ROM etc but the problem persists. Might be some conflict between battery state and temperature read error?

Update: I change the battery, everything back to normal. I used a OEM battery, screen time is +6h with moderate use during the first row cycles of battery use from 100% to 10%.
Hi all together. Faced the same issue up times (Huawei P9 EVA-L09C432B395, Kamera App 4.1.1) with battery in good state 46 to 76% and taking a picture caused draining it to zero at a moment. Sitting down immediately. BUT only if flash ? is set to bulb-light ?! Tested it several times. Normal (auto/always active) flash is ok - but not bulb-mode...
So, that's obviously the reason - but where's a solution? ?
Some Huawei officials here at xda? ?
Same problem here and without solution yet ... camera causes phone to shutdown and battery indication goes crazy.

Experiencing the same issue on both P9 we have and getting very annoying would be glad to see if is there any solution of this.

These are my exact symptoms - combination of cold and camera gives false battery reading and shuts down phone entirely. Software update hasn't fixed.

Hi,
I'm having the same problem. It's amazing how there's no information at all from Huawei about this issue... it's frustrating. I was planning on buying a P20 during this year and give my P9 to my wife, but if she can't use the camera it's useless. And I will not buy another Huawei if they don't do anything regarding a problem like this one...
Did any of you had any positive experience with Huawei Customer Care?
Thank you!

And I will not buy another Huawei if they don't do anything regarding a problem like this one...
Did any of you had any positive experience with Huawei Customer Care?
Thank you!

Did you try yourself any search for custom ROMs ob XDA for Huawei P9?!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development
I tried Huwawei customer care.
Their best offer was factory reset of all firmware!
Install updates doesn't fix.

Even when connected to charger!!
Even when the phone is connected by USB to my computer and charging, if I open the camera the battery % starts to drop like 1% every 4-5 seconds!!
So the battery is being drained faster than what it charges.
I close the camera and it starts charging again.
Huawei, I was very happy with this phone, now I'm constantly in fear of getting out of battery in the middle of an unknown city while taking photos!
All,
Title says it all. I have noticed that since I went from Oreo beta to OTA, the watch will just shut off after about 5-6 hours of usage and will not come back on until it is put on the charger for a few minutes. Usually the watch battery is % is variable. I have never had issues with this watch before. It is the unlocked (W280A) version. I have not tried factory reset yet, but that is the next step. I wear this watch infrequently (wear my Gear S3 and rotate other AW watches), so it's not a show stopper. When trying to reboot into recovery to wipe cache, sometimes I would get a menu, but no choices to wipe cache, and other times, the dead Android with the triangle coming out of his chest. WTF?!!!
Anybody!? I am on OWR1.170919.018, AW2.7.0.178645119, Google Play Services 11.9.51 (530-177350961) Security Patch October 1, 2017.
This is driving me insane!!!
Wich batt % ? this watch have a high drain often > 8% by hour and worse on Wear 8.0.0

Battery % is variable. It has even done this at 100%.
LG has issued me a RMA and instructions to return the watch for repair since it is still under manufacturer's warranty. Mod -- you may close this thread.

I know this is old, but maybe it will help someone else. In order to get to the option to wipe the cache you will need to hold down the center button on the side and tap the top button when the "dead Android with the triangle coming out of his chest" comes up. This will put you in recovery mode. From here you can do a factory wipe or clear cache.
Unfortunately, I am getting this as well. Exact same symptoms.
Sometimes it will shut down at over 50% battery...other times it'll run down to about 10-15%, and shut down when I wake the screen.
No amount of clear-cache or factory resets seem to resolve this issue. It seems like time and wear/tear is finally catching up with these watches.
I also have these same problems from time to time.
I have worn my watch everyday for the last 16 months.
As I use my watch as my personal phone with SIM card, when it happens, very annoying!
There is nothing new on the market with LTE functionality to update it though, that I am aware of.

Charge cycle for Lithium battery are about 300 (from 0% to 100% : ex 600 cycles from 50% to 100%) so in 16 months I think you reached the max charge cycle and battery is dead ?
Battery not dead, still get a full day, just sometimes it shuts down as described above.
Following the same issue on reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/lgwatchsport/comments/90qv8a/watch_dies_and_wont_boot_unless_its_on_the_charger/
I am having the same issue with my Watch. I love this watch and it is completely frustrating that this is happening. Doesn't seem like it will get fixed either since this devices is coming close to EOL. If anyone has a fix let me know!
Mine did it again today, shut down wouldn't complete boot-up.
When home put it on the charger was at 21% battery.
Becoming unreliable, really want an alternative with LTE.
I understand the new Galaxy smartwatch LTE is being sold by EE in the UK when available, just don't want Tizen or EE!
....yet again, answered a call on LTE, 2 seconds later watch immediately shuts down and won't complete reboot. Put on charger, battery at 29%.
But yesterday the watch did 8am till 11pm with LTE switched on.
Presently it is totally unreliable.

This still been a problem I've put the watch into boot mode and ran the watch down until it has turned off with no reserve to even attempt to turn back on, then fully charged her back up to 100%.
See if this makes any difference.
Out of interest I measure the current draw while charging from 0 to 100%, 650 mah.
The battery is not that big but I guess there will quite a loss in transfer from the charger to the watch through induction charging.
How to fix this issue ?? i ran out of warranty already
There is no way around for this. The only thing I found a bit worked was to remove the Auto Brightness and disconnect Wifi, NFC and other connectivity except Bluetooth. That has helped me from draining the battery within 3 hours to 8 hours. Regarding the sudden power off and not switching on till you put on the charger, It has been happening me for the past 5 months (And I am out of warranty) and latest I had this problem was today morning and the battery was at 96%.
Edit: Contacted Google Support and LG Support and the solution they gave me was spend about 65-85$ plus 19.95$ for assessing plus shipping charges to get it repaired from LG.
same here. i suspect it is the always on screen. since disabling hasn't happened
I'll give the always on screen 'off' a try, I'm not hopeful.
Still had the problem with the latest wear update too.

Hope, just received a call on my watch, after 2 minutes talking watch suddenly shuts down and will not reboot.
Put on charger, 46% battery charge.
Love the watch, love the latest wear update, totally unreliable at the moment with this major issue.
