[Q] Help Modifying TouchWiz Signal Bars to Lollipop Style - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm interested in making signal bars that look like stock Lollipop, but with 5 bars instead of 4. My Main questions are:
1.) Which APK am I decompressing? My guess was Systemui.apk
2.) Can I just edit the already existing images of the signal bars and close the gap?
3.) Are they going to be QMG files and is there a special program to edit QMG files?
I can't work on it at the moment because it is finals week, but after this week I'm going to (finally) have some downtime and I wanted to make a small mod. Any help is appreciated!

[Q] com.htc.resources.apk-Genius devs please help make alterations for me?

Greetings. Would someone with some talent and skills be willing to please help me/make edits for me? I have provided the main file. I have also provided the other files to show the type that I would like to use.
I would like to change the stock symbols to the offset android '3G' icon/the 1x icon(attached)- and the bars to the four or - preferably five bar bubbly style(also attached).
From what I can see, the files are there within the com.htc.resources.apk file but I think they need to be renamed, perhaps edited in photoshop(which I am furtada with).
Thank you for your dev'ing genius and ill be sure to max out the thanks meter...if i can donate, I will try my darndest.
thank you so much!
thats a fairly simple fix. although I'm not sure that is the correct apk... i run an aosp (so it may not translate correctly for a sense rom) but my changes (which were of a similar type) required updating the /system/framework/framework-res.apk
I dont have time to do it now, but I could take a look at it next week. what rom are you running?
It would be in the framework-res.apk and the signal bar wouldn't be as simple as changing the picture, if I am not mistaken. The 3G to 1x icon is a very simple fix, but I believe that having five (usable) bars requires a bit of extra work involving xml files? I always assuemed that was the reason only Sense ROMs had six bars.
I would try just taking the pngs from a stock sprint hero rom and switching them. I've got a video on it but I never posted it on xda cuz I was gonna delete it but its on my YouTube channel
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
theyre inside the drawable-mdpi folder in the com.htc.resources.apk. thats where i found and how i changed the Ev icon to the other 3G icon thats there...not the offset one which is better. then i just pulled com.htc.resources.apk and pushed the modded one to and from /system/framework/com.htc.resources.apk
i would be forever grateful if i could get it. im just running a stock 2.1, rooted...which ive altered the 3g icon and bars before but i prefer the offset/bubbly icons
thanks thanks thanks

anyone willing/able to make these edits for me??
it would be greatly appreciated as not only myself but others could benefit as well...
i appreciate your time and thank you!
Trying to wake a dead thread it seams, looking to change the color of the signal bars from green to red. I'm using MIKFROYO v4.5 and I talk to the dev and he pointed out that the change was going to have to occur inside the com.htc.resources apk. Can someone help me out on how to either edit the apk or.do it for me?

Captivate drop down menu icon spacing?

I am running continuum 4 on my captivate and have created my own icons for wifi signal strength and honeycomb battery meter. The only problem I have is that I made the icons as large as I can be for better image quality but now when they are on together, they overcrowd or touch each other. Is there a way to modify the spacing between them so I can separate. I dont want to place all the place just give a little space between. The screen shots are here for those to see and understand completely what I am trying to do. :https://picasaweb.google.com/113850201546085048294
Many thanks to the devs who labor many hours to create the awesome roms and kernels. I spent 3 days working with just 3 icons. Time consuming.

[NS4G] Location of 4G icons?

Hi all,
I'm new to themes and am trying to figure out where the various 4G connection icons are located so I can change them from green to white.
Running the GreybreadX theme, which is great, but the 4G icon is still green.
I was able to locate the 3-bar and disconnected icons within framework-res.apk but not sure where to look for the 2-bar and 1-bar icons.
Any suggestions on where to check?
You should find them in /system/app/SystemUI.apk
inside there: SystemUI.apk/res/drawable-hdpi/
Then look for pngs beginning with stat_sys_data_wimax
..all sorts of notification bar (etc) goodies in there. If you're decompiling and/or modding xml/smali though, I'd read up on it first within these forums.
Ok so I finally got around to editing the 4G icons to be white/grey instead of green/grey, removed the originals from SystemUI.apk and placed mine in there, and placed the edited SystemUI.apk in /system/app/ (made backups of everything).
Rebooted and I still have green/grey 4G icons... what am I missing here?
Edited png files attached.
I don't have it in front of me, but check the framework-res.apk in the drawable hdpi folder. There are a couple sets of 4G icons- once its activated, and then to display your signal.
Also, btw, i usually just drag the edited icons over into the apk (in 7zip) and make sure it asks to replace the files... just to make sure the file names are the same.
. . NS4G . . CM7 . .
Ended up going back to the stock systemui.apk and using Ninjamorph to overwrite the original images. Worked perfectly!

[Q] Modifying SystemUI

I am looking for some information and assistance with attempting to modify the SystemUI.apk or in creating a custom Theme for my HTC One M7 on Android 4.4.3 with Sense 6. I am running the ARHD Rom but I would like a method independent of using Custom ROMs or Xposed framework if possible, requiring root is fine. I have seen some packages that do some of this which contain a vrtheme folder in them but haven't been able to find a tutorial on building one of these and which files are for which icons.
I have tried modifying the background color in res/values/drawable.xml and in res/layout/status_bar.xml files to #ff000000 but the status bar still appears grey on the home screen. This seems to match with the theme I selected from the Personalize menu in Settings. It's my guess that somehow, these theme settings override the systemUI settings. So I would like a way to create my own theme to select which will hopefully also allow me to change the color for selected notifications and the like.
In addition to this, I have a set of icons for the status bar such as battery power, battery charge, wifi signal, cellular signal, mobile data quality, etc.. which I would like to use to replace the systemUI icons for these. However, there seem to be several versions of icons in various drawable folders. So if I could find out the requirements for these files (size, naming, location to replace them at) or if there is a way to replace them as part of a theme that is, again, independent of custom rom or xposed framework if possible.
If anyone knows of a tutorial that already exists for any of these things simply pointing me to that is answer enough, I just didn't have luck finding it when trying to search for it.

Need some help from the Devs

So I have been trying to add some mods to my systemui that I had in my note 3 s6 port those mods consist of memory cleaner in in notification panel, potato clock and 3minit battery, so the issue is every time I compile my new apk then drop in the meta folder i load the new apk and all I get is a black baground and no status bar. I even took all the modded files and and dropped them into the original apk and same thing. I am using apktool 2.0.3 like I have been and for the life of me cant figure it out really starting to [email protected]$# me off lol. Very new to the note 4 so if any of you vets have any advice on what I might be doing wrong that would be greatly appreciated. Im going to try one mod at a time to rule out any bad coding in my xml files to see what might be causing the issue.:good::highfive::good:
Just wanted to share some findings, I took a pure stock(no mods no nothing) UI decompiled it then recompiled, took the recompiled and added the meta folder and from the stock UI and still get black home screen and no status bar so Im thinking it might be the apktool version I am using any one have suggestions on what they are using?
no body lol I know the masters out there saw this post:good::highfive::good:
