Bootloop finally fixed - Galaxy Ace S5830i General

My first post. To begin I'm not a phone techie so I might get the jargon mixed up but I hope someone will find this helpful.
My phone 'soft bricked' and got into a bootloop. This has happened before whereupon I took is to a phone shop to get it fixed. This time I did it myself after many hours of reading tutorials and trial and error of flashing the firmware and the help of xda forums..
Finding the right version of Odin and getting the right stock firmware that actually loaded onto the phone was the main battle.
Unfortunately as I'm a newbie I not permitted to post links. You have to go to Andriodjinn.com and search for unbricking gt-s5830i. On the page you will find a link to the firmware that works, Click on the one that says Australian link, you get a package with four separate files.
Next you got get the right version of Odin and quite honestly some the guides are a joke. The version of Odin that works with the above is and your phone gt-s5830i is Odin3 v1.85.
There are four separate files, bootloader, pda, modem and csc. Make sure all are entered into Odin.
I didn't find a PIT file necessary and besides there is no PIT file in the above package. All the steps are given in the above web page mentioned, so I wont go through those.
I hope this is of help to somebody and shortcut all their trial and error and Odin 'Fails' as I had.

"DLL LOAD FAIL" Galaxy TAB problem in updating firmware !

Hello all,
this problem frustrates the hell outta me, now i have been informed by Kies that a new firmware is there for Gtab...but...i start updating, then the mesage "DLL LOAD FAIL" appears, whilst the Gtab is displaying a yellow "android robot" doing some cleaning and stuff...
My code is an XSG one, and i cannot seem to update at all...please help, as i have searched alot here in the forums, but could'nt find any (unless i missed, of course).
ow, i read about the odin way of updating, but i still could'nt get a solid guide on how to do it...would appreciate anyone to shed some light on it too...if possible..
thanks
anyone please ???????
you should be able to find all kinds of info on Odin. last thing I read on Odin that should help is the little how to guide that is posted with the Gingerbread OverCome ROM. go take a look at it inthe Development section.
thanks, but, does languages gets affected by the odin method ?
my gtab is localized to have arabic on it, if i do any odin will it be gone ? It seems odin is the only option i have since samsung kies itself seems faulty, and refuses to work with this DLL LOAD FAIL kinda thing.
shall i proceed ?
EDIT: now i figured out another new error: unzip error...so i installed winrar, and, the update completed ! However, i only received a minor update for the current froyo firmware, there were no gingerbread for me (code XSG)...whats that supposed to mean ??
I have no idea about locality. i would imagine the important thing is the actual ROM you are flashing. Odin just loads what you give it. Proceed at your own risk. if you are nervous, wait a few days until there is more feedback available from the community.

You still can boot up your tab? Need the firmware information from *#1234#. If you are still on froyo then bootloaders should be unsigned.....
Better check overcome.mimzo.com/?page_id=64 section "Preppin’ The System…".
It is a wonderful guide for problem free flashing; for ANY version.

ps: unable to paste "external links" due to small number of posts, copy/paste link above.
still now luck but was able to get to recovery mode...
the tab only would load the GT/samsung screen then freeze...i tried a few different firmwares but no luck...i tried this site...
how-to-flash-latest-gingerbread-2-3-3-firmware-to-samsung-galaxy-tab-p1000/?amp....and odin seem to work...but still didnt load..got to recovery and wiped cache and data and rebooted..still nothing..but i also noticed that the wipe was failing....hope the pic can show whats up...now im at a stand still....
dkills082 did u get this sorted as i am experiencing this issue for 48 hours now. i am sick as a dog trying different firmwares and still wont properly boot. still stick on Galaxy GT samsung screen..
I had problem similar to that, I took it back to stock froyo rom, the version originally there, and then proceeded to flash up to gingerbread again. It seems to have worked as I'm on Overcome - Hermes now with no problems.
I might suggest that you try to flash a kernal that supports ext 4 as you might of formatted to that... The overcome 1.64 seem to work but you will still have to flash the Froyo bootloaders....
still stuck...
still stuck but still can get it to recov...i tried other firmwares..but no luck...im lost...wondering if jtag would save it...the problem is that i dont know what original FW was on this tab...i got some new errors idk what to think of them...
pics of the errors
pics of the errors i get in recovery

[Q] Soft Bricked, Odin doesn't set up partition

I have done hours of researching and this isn't my first time i bricked a phone so I kind off have some experince fixing the phone but this seems harder than before.
I first tired to flash a kernel through odin on my captivate because i wanted to try out cyanogen mod but somehow the kernel had failed on me. When i tried to restart my phone, I got the phone---!---pc logo.
So i did some research on how to get the phone out of the soft brick. First thing I did was trying to get into recovery mode with the 3 buttons, but didnt work out. After that I tried to get into download mode and it worked. My first thought was too use odin and reflash, and that is what i did. Now the problem is, I had put the correct pit file and stock rom, because I had reflashed using these two same files before, but the thing is, it gets stuck on "set partition". So I did everything from, trying on different computers to changing usb cables to using different versions of odin and finally to taking out the sim card and sd card and taking out and placing the phones battery back in. And i had everything checked too so that wasn't the problem. The following were checked: Auto Reboot, Check Re-Partition and F.Reset Time.
If anyone knows the solution can you please help me out, thank you in advance!
When you check repartition, you need to load a pit file in the pit slot/tab for Odin. You have two options.
1) Flash froyo stock(kb2), if you don't want/need Gingerbread Bootloaders. The Heimdall package from Adam Outler is an easy 1 click solution.
2) Flash KF1 if you need GB bootloaders. This will also fix ant previous 3 button combo problem you may have. Use the package with a pit file and bootloaders.
It also sounds like you may need ajig to get into download mode, but if you follow the Captivate sig link below, you should be able to find everything you need to get going.
Thank you !
Thanks a lot mrhaley30705 ! I have gone through of some guides and done more research about these two, and I was thinking of flashing kb2 on to my phone but I'm really worried if it might brick my phone, because the captivate I have is the rogers one not the ATT&T one.
I just had a few questions like, before I do the Heimdall One-Click, is it required to install the Zadig file ? because it had came up before I opened up the Heimdall One Click program. I think i had used the Heimdall One-Click before (the video that is posted on youtube) by outleradam, but the thing was, it wasn't recognizing my phone. So I'm guessing it has something to do with Zadig file, because I made sure I ran it as Administrator also so I'm kinda lost.
My other question was, the consequences, if this program would not work for me, would it hard brick my phone? I really want to make sure I go ahead with it.
And my last question is, if I were to go ahead with this, it said on the forum I would have to reset my APN settings, so would that be applying another software to the phone or can i configure that manual ?
And Thanks again for all your help !
If you want the Canadian firmware, search for TRusselo's stock threads. He has a full set of Canadian firmware.
Anytime you flash bootloaders there is a chance of hard bricking your phone, either from an interruption in communication between your phone and computer (think power outage or bad cable) or accidentally mismatching bootloaders (think the old 3 button fix on top of GB bootloaders). Just follow all of the precautions you can when flashing bootloaders.
APN editing is done manually.
Oh alright I got how put the APN information, thank you.
And oh okay, that makes more senses.
And for the Canadian firmwares, that's what I pretty much did with Odin, I took his stock firmware and tried to flash it with Odin but wasn't passing the "set partition" part like I mentioned before. I followed his instructions too. So, that's why I'm a bit confused now, because I'm guessing if Odin doesn't work then I would have to use the Kb2 link that is posted on your Sig. Do you have any suggestions maybe ?
The canadian version of the captivate will flash the US verson, it just changes your boot screen and kernel splash to an att one. I would flash the KB2, then if you absolutley had to have the canadian version, flash it.
Thank you !
Thanks a lot once again ! and I will give it a try and let you know how it goes !
Maybe try NOT checking re-partition. This sometimes can cause a problem, in fact most tutorials i have seen always say DO NOT check re-partition. It's worth a try

[Q] Have I bricked my S2 whilst rooting? Can get to downloads screen.

Hi, all.
I used Heimdall to flash the kernel as part of rooting my new phone. The messages in the terminal window looked good and I got the blue progress bar. The phone rebooted and I got a yellow warning triangle and everything freezes. I downloaded a kernel image from Samfirmware and now the phone boots without the yellow warning, but no other change. It still gets stuck. Can anyone help or is my phone bricked?
I can boot into download mode and am using a Linux PC.
At the moment, my options seem to be:
1) Use Heimdall to flash something? I have a 400meg download from Samfirmware, but don't know how to flash the files besides zImage, using Heimdall.
2) Get a USB dongle from eBay to reset the page that says I've altered the handset. This means I should be able to take it back to T-Mobile.
3) Go to a Samsung service centre and potentially pay lots of money to have the phone repaired. Anyone know how much this is (in the UK)?
Thanks,
Chris.
Actually you don't need to do that , as long as you can access download mod then your phone is fine , what you need to do is this :
- Download a stock rom including all stuff (PIT . PDA . PHONE . CSC . BOOTLOADER ) and also Odin 3 v. 1.82 Don't use another flashing software (as far as i know the one you used is still new and it may still have a lot of bugs so its better to use odin) .
You can download all the files i told you to on this page : http://www.androidgen.fr/tutoriel-s...id-gingerbread-2-3-6-odin-article-2110-2.html
Its in french but i don't think you will find problems finding the download links ^^
- After you get all the files place them according to the page each one at its right place in odin and make sure that "Re-Partition is checked .. and hit start
if all goes right your phone will reboot and work again
Good luck
Edit : This files are for S1 , your're asking for help about an S2 i suggest you post it in the correct section or download similar files for the S2 and follow the same steps
Thank you, zizou.
I'm sorry I posted in the wrong area, I'll try again.
Sorry I wasted your time.
Chris.

[Q] Failing to flash on the actual phone, not odin.

Hey guys, first post. And well, as the video said, I'm a noob!
So I've tried two different guides, but am currently trying to implement this one in different ways.
Now, I do all the steps in order to get the phone connected, which it finds and is successful. I was trying to install the firmware as a single package. Which on the program(odin) side. All goes well.
Now the issue is, which I can't find on the forums or with google. Once the phone boots itself up during the process and the firmware is sent to it. On the screen for a moment I see some debug looking text scroll. It shows 2 folders system/ something. But I can't quite make out the rest as it does this very quick. Regardless, I think it has something to do with access is not allowed? So it quickly skips that and the phone boots up normally. So nothing is installed, and the normal firmware with all the bloatware is just loaded back up.
Odin then just waits a few more minutes and passes it. But obviously nothing happens.
I tried rooting the phone, which was successful. But it didn't help me in attempting the above method again.
I've attempted with odin as well doing what the above guide states as well here "If archive contains only <filename>.tar.md5 select it as PDA and OPS as OPS, leave other fields EMPTY". But in doing so, adding the file to the PDA section, odin reports it's an invalid image type. Then seems all good, but I'm worried in doing it this way, in case I end up bricking the phone.
I been trying to install the firmware "S5830XWKT7_S5830OPPKS6_S5830XWKT3_HOME.tar.md5" Which is the 2.3.6 Australian one.
Any help would be appreciated as to why it's failing on the phone end of things. As the program does seem to issue to use, as it does successfully transfer everything in the first place.
Thanks guys,
Myth.
