[Q] Google Play says "You need to use a different package name" - App Stores

I'm trying to upload my first app to Google Play. No big deal, right?
You need to use a different package name because "(the package name)" already exists in Google Play.
I'm fairly certain it doesn't exist. Did I screw up something? Is this Google being special?

If this package name it doesn't show up in search/by direct link - it doesn't mean that it doesn't exist. There's quite a lot of unpublished/removed apps and one of them probably has your package name

[Q] Google Play error "Could not retreive information from server"

Hi All,
I am a proud owner of the Kindle Fire HD and I am pretty new in the Android World.
I have rooted the computer with success. Afterward I have installed all the applications as indicated (Market, Vending and Google Play).
Now the application gives me an error message with "could not retrieve information from the server". Does anybody knows how to resolve this?
Does it have to do something with a log, data, settings, IP address, location (residing outside the USA), user account, particular file, etc.
Can somebody PPPPPPPLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEE help me with this? I am almost giving it up......
Thanks in advance.

profgokker,
No worries, this is a common error and is no way caused by geographic location. Google
Play Store works throughout the world, including China, although the Chinese attempt
to block Google Play. The problem is either the Google Play Framework is corrupt or
the Vending.apk is corrupt. Let's first replace the Vending.apk application. We have
attached Vending.apk to this thread. Download Vending.apk, move it to /Kindle Drive/
Internal Drive/Download. Then using ES File Explorer with Root Settings enabled, move
/sdcard/Download/Vending.apk to /system/app. You will get a warning, click yes
to replace Vending.apk. Next, change the permissions on Vending.apk to Owner: Read Write
Group: Read Others: Read. Next click on /system/app/Vending.apk choose Install.
After you complete the install of Vending.apk, then download Phonesky.apk which
is attached to this thread, move it to /Kindle Drive/Internal Drive/Download. Next
click on /sdcard/Download/Phonesky.apk to install and upgrade the Google Store
to Version 3.10.10. Then go to your /Apps, click on Google Play Store icon, Agree
to the License and attach an account to Google Play Store. If this does not
resolve your problem I will give you instruction on how to upgrade the Google
Framework.
Unfortunately I am having the same problem. Where can I find an uncorrupted googleplayframework? Thank by the way for your quick response and effort.

profgokker,
We have over 300 people a day download the same files I gave you, so you can be well assured
They are good. OK, to the problem. You are sure that you did not install a firewall, correct? Did you
install any security software? If no and no, first COMPLETELY uninstall Google everything, through
the Kindle Uninstall Service, we can not take a chance that one package is effecting Google Play.
Remove all items that you recently moved to /system/app. The Reboot the Kindle. Check the
Amazon Add Remove Programs - anything Google left? If no, you are good to take the next
step. Go to our Tutorial [How to] Install Google Play, the link is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069329
The idea here is simple. We will be replacing everything Google and since we have over
300 successful installs a day through those instructions and packages. The good new is
that the download package included in the tutorial will be slightly different than the files
I gave you today. If you still are not working after do a complete reinstall, there is
something wrong with the Kindle or your network. You can also send it into our firm,
we do offer Kindle Repair but I really do not believe you will have to take this drastic
step. You may call me as well, the first 5 minutes is free.
I still could not get through, same message again. I followed every instruction, but I am not sure what you mean with "Amazon Uninstallation Service", could you explain this further?
I even set everything to 'factory settings' and rooted the table again.
How do I know if it is a devide problem or network problem? If I go to the internet site of google.play, I have a similar message (server error), does this indicate a network issue? Or is this normal?
I will try it one more time and than I have no other option to contact you. Although I already give it up for google play on my kindle.
Thanks for your effort and fast response, which I appreciate very much.
I just noted that I just cannot access Google play from my location., not even via the internet. It looks that Google play has blocked my region (Caribbean), very frustrating. I tried to access it at workplace with company computer, other computers in my home; Google play just gives an error. Now I accessed a computer in Europe, and voila......' working there
Amazon does also not even allow me to the webshop (no US credit card).
Does anybody have a solution? Or just switch to Apple? Very disappointed in the of the kf
I just installed Orbot (there is also a post on xda), followed the instruction and voila...... i have access to Google Play.
So there is a block for my region for Google Play and I bypassed this via the program.

profgokker,
Are you in a Corporate Network or is this at home? The reason I ask is we have customers that
originate in the Caribbean and I have not hear any complaints unless your ISP is blocking Google Play.
Either way, I am glad you were able to make it work with Orbot Proxy Server:

This is a great program.

[Q] SIDELOADING APKs QUESTION

Gee, I cannot wait until all the senior members rip me a new one and say "if you'da just searched _____ you'd find it" or something similar I'm not THAT dumb, I DO perform some research to the best of my ability, but not all the time do I find exactly what I'm looking for, so please, just save it for a rainy day people...
THE QUESTION THOUGH:
Through XDAs homepage I noticed there's many posts for APKs being released for apps (mainly through APK Mirror)
What I am trying to find out is:
1) Since most of the APKs I am interested in are just more current/updated versions of their Play Store counterparts (ie - Facebook that I have currently is version 33.xxx.xxx downloaded from Play Store yet version 35.xxxx is available through APK Mirror) do I have to manually keep sideloading APKs in order to update these apps or will they self-update somehow?
2) Spotify is another example I have in question - if I uninstall it from my phone (nexus 6) then download and install the APK from APK MIrror does Play Store register that I have it installed on my phone and list it under "My Apps" and update it when the Play Store version that's available surpasses my sideloaded APK version?
I appreciate all your assistance.

first off, questions go into the q&a/help section, not into the general section.
if you install an app not from the play store, then you have to keep updating it that way. only if you install through tbe play store will the play store see your app, and let you update it.

You could just say "I've searched and couldn't find an answer" rather than being confrontational.

If the app fingerprint matches, it will show in play. It probably won't let you update it though. For example I bought office suite pro from Amazon. It shows me that its installed in play but I can only update via amazonm
thank you.

I suppose beginning my question as I did was indeed confrontational, however, I felt as if I needed to because there's ALWAYS someone there to make people feel like garbage for asking questions and since I'm new I felt as if I needed to defend myself beforehand.

And unfortunately they are right most of the time though putting people down isn`t intended i`am sure, thats how you experience it. You turn to people with a question who read up and aquire some skills during time and you defend yourself by saying i`am new here and did almost no research to find the answer to my question. You cannot tell me that on the WWW there isn`t an answer too your question

Here's a question along those lines - You update say GP Maps thru apkmirror. That's the same sig as in the store, my question is if one "pre-loads" it from the APK by sideloading, and it shares the same signature, why later on would I receive another "update" within GPS for it for the version I already installed by APK?
That would lead me to believe the sig's are not exact.

Google Camera

So has anyone noticed that the Google Camera app is no longer visible in the play store? It may just be in the USA where I am, but the only way I can find the Google Camera app, is when I'm behind a VPN for another country. Anyone else notice this or know why?
I read something about this the other day. It has disappeared from the Play Store, it's not just in the US. You can still find it on APKMirror.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera&hl=en
The direct link still works, but unless you own a Nexus 5, 6, 9, 5X or 6P, you will not be able to install it as Google has restricted the app to those devices. Further, you can not search for the app on the PC or the Play Store, which I believe means the link's only purpose is to allow for updating the app for the Nexus line. It's still possible to download it from APK Mirror, but for devices other than the five mentioned, it probably will report an older version, if it installs at all.
The real question is, what is Google planning here? We just don't know.

No idea! What's weird is that I saw people on Reddit saying they were from Canada and they were able to search the app in the playstore, and after using a VPN and spoofing my location, I was able to search it in chrome as well! I'm not sure what they're doing, but it's really strange!
could be a problem of playstore.. this has existed for the past few weeks now.. but searching for the app on google still routes you to the playstore.. wonder why app cant be visible on the playstore itself
There is one other app they have with this behavior: Google Play Services. You can search for com.android.google.gms in the Play Store on both PC and device. However it won't show up, and you have to use a direct link to see it. Unlike Google Camera however, Play Services is for every phone.
Hopefully it's a mistake on Google's part and it will be fixed soon.
For what it's worth, today on nexus 6 with pico open gapps, and AICP 13 (8.0 Oreo), the above link gave "not available in your country" (USA) in browser, but copying the link in the browser had an option/link to play store, which did work, and after install Gcamera works! I was missing photosphere, so thanks!

ZTE Axon M 128GB Chinese Edition Oreo Update removes Google functionality

Yesterday I updated to Oreo as the ZTE Axon M update service showed a new update available. On update Google Play would no longer launch and Play Services was not functioning. The Google Application services were pre-installed on the phone when purchased and shipped from AliExpress.
I figured I would reset the phone and on reset all Google functionality was removed.
I figured I would simply install the GAPPS services again and followed this thread:
https://android.gadgethacks.com/how...-store-without-gapps-google-services-0176241/
However once everything installs and I launch the Play Store I get a white blank screen.
I would have expected to be prompted for the Google Account login screen and if I check Accounts from settings I can see that there is a Google Account listed but not configured and if I click it I am told to add the account from the relevant app. There is no other shortcut installed though other than Google Play Store which hangs as described previously.
I have tried various other ways to get this sorted out but the end result is the same, inability to add a google account and no way to launch the play store.
I considered YalpStore but its really not fit for purpose because anything that requires the Google Play Services framework will not run.
My phone is not rooted but it appears it does not need to be for GAPPS install functionality. I can see many threads that say this works without the need for rooting (and in any event there are no guides for rooting an Axon M).
My question is simply how do I the Google Play Store and Google Play Services to work on the ZTE Axon M with the Oreo update ? It is driving me nuts and I would never have proceeded with the update if I had realised it would simply be removed.
Same
I'm. Having the same problem I tryed everything

Did you try the same package used for the Xiaomi devices? I have to play on that (it's the rev 2).

I tried, same issue crashing
I tried multiple methods too, but to no avail.
I do suspect a possibility. The previous time when i managed to get my gapps working when i first got the Chinese set, i had to disable the "Mi-Assistant" App as that was the one preventing my Google Play Services from Auto-Running even though it was set to allow. This time, I can not even see Google Play Services in the Auto-Run Manager and while i tried to force stop and disable the "Mi-Assistant" App, it does not allow me to disable.
I hope this info can help provide some leads to an expert who would be able to help us get back our GApps running again.
Thanks.
I do agree... meanwhile take a look here: https://code.tutsplus.com/articles/10-alternative-android-app-stores--cms-20999
good morning I found the application with the google play store inside the play store zte. After several attempts I managed to install a heavy game (1.3 GB) as ADERA disabling all the Chinese apps, keeping the display always active, I only downloaded via wi-fi. So I managed to download it without problems (I do not know which of these changes worked). the application has a triangular design with central red, the word Google followed by two Chinese characters

yes oreo 8.1 axon m 6 / 128gb. If there is the possibility I can post images of the app. One thing the app inside contains the play store but the apps that you download do not appear on the home of the device but within the app itself
Sounds like an emulator to me.. Would be great if you could provide the images of the app. Any small information helps.
Btw, to all, i did manage to download a GApps installer which seemed promising, cause at least it went into the login page for Google Account. But then the error of requesting to update "Google Play Services" popped up again and again and everything went down the drain again. Will try further and hopefully will have good news.
I'm new on the forum you have to explain to me how to post the images. thank you
Dears... did you see that in the ZTE Store?

There is an application in the ZTE Market that installs a pseudo Google Play but it is sandboxed somehow and you have to launch this app to get access to your installs - feels very insecure to me - I just want a clean Google Play on the device
unfortunately for now it is the only solution I found. Otherwise you must use third-party app stores such as amazon, aptoide, etc.

I posted a link with a few of alternative stores (the best is to get the apk stand-alone ihmo) but if it is to follow that sandbox ways, as suggest, create a new "junky" account just to have it registered.
Any Update??!!

Fire HD 8+ 2022 Game giving an error of "won't run without google play services which are missing form your device"

And yet it then takes me to the page for google play services, clearly listing them as installed. I installed the google play stuff in the order I was told to, did I do something wrong somehow though? And is there a way to fix it?
Upon trying to reinstall things, I now get "which are not supported by your device" instead
