How to get back my 16gb internal storage of s Advance? - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey All,
I have 16gb Samsung s advance,
when i bought the mobile, i had no clue about updates and resets,
Then i researched and learned alot about the android development,
i updated my 2.3.6 to 4.1.2 then to 4.4.2 Carbon mode then to 4.4.4 Cynagomod ,
Then it gave me wifi issues to i decided to flash it back to 2.3.6
and i accidently used 8gb pit file,
& the memory shrunked to 3.97 GB,
i tried using 16GB pit file with the same reset files ,
but it gave errors when its was first booting up in the copying files linux part,
and i thought it had some error in firmware,
then i tried to flash same 16GB pit file with original JB 4.1.2 firmware,
then it gave unavailable storage device memory, & unavailable memory card,
tell me a solution on how to get my device back on 16 GB pit file,
give me a full tutorial
Thanks in advance

well that is awkward for s advance

[Q] internal memory shrinked to 209 mb !!

am sry if this is a repost i actually searched but couldn't find a post ,
well i flashed my galaxy tab with gingerbread 2.3 everything seems fine but the only problem is that the internal sd card memory just shrinked to 209 mb instead of 16 gb plz any help would be appreciated
Let's see if I can help you, but first can you provide more details on what actual version of GB you flashed and how you flashed it (ODIN or official signed zip)?
first of all i tried the honeycomb by spacemoose1 and after the reboot just got a blank screen so i then flashed this file P1000XXJQ1_P1000XXJQ1_P1000XXJPZ_HOME.tar with P1_EUR.pit as pit file which should have gave me the gingerbread and it does but the 16gb just shrinked to 209 mb
from where u got this pit file ? is not for this rom and for ginger
u need to flash stock froyo with pit to solve this bloody issue and then pleas use one of samfirmware.com gb roms without pit file as inside the tar "rom" there is pit file
chhers
Sort of what I was going to suggest...
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
thanks bro for ur advice , but all am confused of now is finding the right froyo stock rom with compatible pit file , cuz don't wanna loose my tab for another foolish trial , may u help me on this , and thanks in advance
i got this link hxxp://droidangel.blogspot.com/2011/05/all-samsung-galaxy-tab-froyo-22-and.html[/url] but it has a lot of versions and firmwares am i supposed to choose one of them if yes , according to what am i supposed to shoose it ?or just anyone of them will work ?
i think that P1000JPJis wat i need since am in arabic region, will it b fine to flash this version of froyo ?
Personnally I would go for the P1000XWJJ7 (not the NEW) which appears to actually be JJ5. I found that Kies actually recognized this as a valid version.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
so u prefer that i go for the P1000DDJJ5 P1.PIT Version 2.2 October 2010 ?
is this wat u meant by (not the NEW)?
On the list from the link that you sent there are two XWJJ7 roms - I recommend the 1st one; I've tried them all and this was the best one with an unlocked bootloader.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
ok after i get the rom what is the best way to flash it ?
open odin, load it in the pda area , check repartition and hit start , after finishing wipe the cache and do hard reset from the recovery mode , that's it ? don't i need to load a certain pit file ,
also i've been told that pit file is used to repartition the internal memory of the tab so wondered if there a certain pit file that can repartition my tab
Yes, except that you should use the associated PIT (P1_add_hidden ) file for that rom as that was probably what went wrong last time - the internal memory wasn't partitioned correctly for the GB release.
did the whole process as k0sh said still the same problem ,the firmware is working perfectly and smooth btw i realized the device memory (1.19gb ) is intact and working all the problem in the USB storage memory instead of being12.8 gb it is 209 mb
Did you flash a stock Froyo release together with the associaated PIT file and with Re-Partition ticked, using Odin3 v1.70?
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
ya i did exactly what u r saying but unfortunately still 209 mb :S:S
Mmmm.... my next step then would be try and flash a safe stock gingerbread rom as provided by the Overcome development team. Don't flash the overcome rom itself (unless you want too) but just flash the safe stock GB to see if it returns your onboard SD memory.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
and that's exactly what i did and it solved the whole sh*t , thanx man for helping throughout this issue, and of course thanx to the overcome team for such rom
Glad to hear it, enjoy.

Which country are you in?
Canada and my galaxy note was brought from Germany so i don't thing Samsung Canada will cover the warranty
Which firmware have you tried? I'm guessing with it being a german note in canada you are gonna need to use european firmware?
This is the one i've just used and i have just come back from using the Chinese leak myself.
Is your note the 16gb or 32gb version? Check to make sure you're using the correct pit.
Open Odin 1.83
Connect your phone in download mode
Use the correct .pit in the PIT tab
Unpack the file you downloaded and put the Unzipped file in the PDA tab
Make sure re-partition is ticked and press start
All should be ok
Once done you can root and CWM with the links in Dr Ketans sig and you're away
its the 16 g
it did not work there was no pit file with the link you gave me and the pit i have says 32 g and i dont know where i can get a 16g pit if there is such thing

@ nuklearmonkeyuk: I am searching for a 32 GB PIT-File for rooting my Note (32 GB). Can't find such at all . Are you shure it exists?? All my searching failed, only found 16 GB PIT. Found a Post that said it don't care. Can you help me please ??
Edit: want to root my Note using Chainfires TUT, so I have to downgrade to KJ1. Dowloaded it, it's a "3-Part" one (I think) with a 16 GB PIT file.

[Q] Q > shw-m180s full repartition guide?

i have successfully dead booted my tab(gratz to me) a few days ago, i had it fixed, now im running jb 4.1.2 which i flashed via odin,i searched for within this forum, the jtag service said that my internal memory is damage, but i found a thread in some site saying i need to repartition the tab to make it fully work again,i dont wanna mess it up again coz thats the reason i dead booted it in the first place when i accidentally checked the repartition option,i was hoping for someone who undergone the same experience as i did and successfully repartitioned his internal memory,i am looking for pit files, pda, phone, csc files to use in my shw-m180s.theres a guide to take it out,but i dont wanna do that.it was a repartition error on my side.any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] ODIN PIT + 1 File help

Simple question. If i get in trouble, can I:
Flash the PIT file alone? (Choose PIT, thick Re-Partition, Flash. Without PDA-PHONE-CSC)
Flash the PIT file with 1-Package (PDA+PHONE+CSC in 1 file) stock firmware? (Choose PIT, thick Re-Partition, choose PDA only, Flash)
I searched in various forums and it seems you can do it, i just want to make sure before trashing my phone in the process
Thank you

when you have problems and only flashing the firmware is possible, you can use PIT (to repartition) with the firmware (stock ROM) be it packed as 1 package or split into three files ( look here for guide) .

Cool thanks
Is there any case where I shouldn't use the PIT file (Re-Partition), like, at all, because would risk a brick?
Like using it alone without loading the firmware in odin or something?
Just to make sure to avoid getting in troubles
Thanks

samsung has ensured that you would not be able to flash PIT alone on all later versions of Odin3, it must go with something, so don't try to do it.
you do not need to use PIT in normal upgrades of firmware, its only needed when you have a problem with your ROM or you are downgrading from a custom ROM ( custom ROM's were not released by Samsung, so its not their firmware. )

@elPicione
Stock ROMs made for i9000 use the same partition size for the /system.
Many custom ROMs use different partition size, so when you downgrade to stock ROM you should always flash PIT file as well.
For flashing between stock ROMs you don't need PIT. Xsenman already wrote you correctly, I just accomplish the info.
Thank you guys, very informative!
I will take this as a general advice for samsung devices, because I'm going to flash my GTab2 P5100 to CM10.1. So I will make sure to have a 1-Package firmware and the 16GB PIT to fire back in the tab, just in case something goes horribly wrong. Damn I was waiting for the 10.2, shame it didn't even get the RCs.
Final question (if someone has time to answer): while i was formatting the internal SD of the i9000(sdcard0), the latest CWM from CM10.2 asked me what filesystem to use. What's generally the default for internal SDs, FAT32 (so it can be written by Windows) or EXT4?
Thank you

Samsung uses rfs system format which is compatible with windows fat32, so default file sytem format will normally be in fat32 format for stock ROM's, custom ROM's are capable of reading ext4 format.
so its safer to format your SD card as fat 32, and when and if you flash custom ROM's it will be converted to ext4 format by the ROM.

P5100 works excellent with nightlies CM10.2
I use myself P5110 with blackhawk kernel (that must be flashed together with proprietary-vendor-samsung.zip file)
I think that the /system partition size for all P51xx is always the same and doubt you will need a PIT file for it. If you find some download link that works without Google+ or facebook or any other social network signing-in, please post the link (or attach the file)

Ugh did't know it's difficult to find PITs fot P51xx
Damn I can't even download the whole firmware right now because my connection is so unstable. Download mirrors from sammobile are so f slow, and if I lose the connection I think I'll be forced to restart from scratch. Last time i downloaded a rom from sammobile (i9100) it was running arond 30kBps. I'm NOT joking, this is ridiculous. It took the whole night to get the thing.
Maybe I just have to give up this time and make a subscription for those crappy download sites, so i can resume the download. I just hope someone will finally fix the CheckFUS
BTW if I find the PIT I'll let you know and post it here
Yup, but untested

We're getting off topic here, but I would suggest you to run 4.3 ROM: CyanogenMod 10.2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2381402
It works excellent with the P51xx, faster and smoother than 4.2.2 based ROMs and gives longer battery life. Don't worry for RC, nightlies work great. "Stable" or "RC" is just a label anyway, CM10.2 nightlies for Tab2 are very well developed.
