[Q] ***Important*** The Future of the G870A - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Hello everybody! I am here today to ask a simple questions. What is the future of the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 Active (Otherwise known as the G870A) What I mean by this is things like, will we be seeing more and more ROM's? Will we be finally breaking the hideous locked bootloader !!!

Unlocking the boot loader is very unlikely. On the other hand, several ROMs are now out for LP, and should be ready to go on the G870A. Keep reading, there is lots of good stuff going on.

Can you direct me towards the general forum where the G870A Roms are? Because where I'm looking, there's only one LP Rom

There are 3 Roms out for Lollipop right now, and all are able to be used on the Active...you just won't have the use of the active key.

[Q] Status on GT-I9295 root?

I cannot find any proper information on whether or not the GT-I9295 can be rooted or not. Googling gives me all kinds of webpages dated back in late August claiming that it can be done, but I've also come across a lot of pages saying it's not possible to root the GT-I9295 using the instructions for the AT&T version of the S4 Active.
I hoped the xda forum would give me more info, but no... unfortunately not.
Has anyone got any help to offer me on this matter? Can it be rooted? If so, anyone got a proper working howto to link to?
Thanks in advance.
Follow this guide: http://honai-android.blogspot.nl/2013/08/how-to-root-galaxy-s4-active-i9295-on.html
Or just visit:

and grab the apk, install it, run it, done, in like 1-2 seconds.

Super thanks for this guide, whizz Worked like a charm. I had already taken a quick look at this very guide a few days ago, but was afraid to try it, because it was using the CF-Auto-Roo for the I9505, and I was a little scared it might break my phone.
To be honest, there should be a sticky on confirmed (working) root procedures for the I9295. I've had a hard time finding proper information on this. Not only in this forum, but elsewhere on the net was well.
FYI I tried the geohot a couple of weeks ago, but it didn't work on my phone.
Unless there's something funky with the device, activeroot (so named for a reason) should root any Samsung Galaxy S4 Active in a second or two at most, any variant produced so far. If you got rooted without it, fantastic but activeroot should have worked without a single issue on a stock ROM... interesting.
Only thing it's not working with right now is 4.3 based stuff, and maybe if we're lucky geohot will drop an updated activeroot at some point, at least that's my hope since we have the 4.3 pre-release ROM for our AT&T I537 variant now to play with.
But then again, 4.3 does make some changes to things, and with Samsung pushing Knox on end users pretty hard, we could be approaching a time where rooting a device - let alone unlocking the bootloader - might become just another thing of the past.

Geohot's root is only for the i537, this thread was about the international version that can't use the geohot root.

[Q] AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 Active i537 Root for Android 4.3 Bounty $100

Hi,
I am looking for a 'not-so-complicated' tried and tested root process for AT&T Samsung Galaxy Active i537, Android Version 4.3, Build Number ending with ML2.
I have tried Active Root and some other options discussed in other forums, none of them have worked for me.
Happy to pay $100 for a reliable root process.
Thank you.
We are ALL looking for this. No need to start another thread for it.
Hi whizzy. Unfortunately, as I have seen by your post and you know, everyone is looking and trying to work on it. All we can do is wait, or you can give it a try yourself. As this is very well known and have numerous threads about it (that we are currently shutting down), I'm afraid I will have to close this one also. Thank you for understanding.

Bootloader

OK I know this should be in the question section, but this section gets more traffic.
Has anyone checked the S4 Bootloader unlock methods with the new update from ATT

There are no S4 bootloader unlock methods, so there's nothing to try.
Then why can you install Cyanogen Mod on the AT&T S4? At least I thought you could. I'll do more research. I am just really wanting CM11 on my phone.

You cannot install CM on the AT&T S4 (i337), the bootloader is locked. There was a point over a year ago where there was an exploit for the bootloader that would allow you to install any ROM known as Loki. But that was patched with the very first update AT&T pushed out. There are very few people who still have that version.
The S4 Active was released after that vulnerability had been patched, so there was never a version of the Active where you could install custom ROMs.
If you want an unlocked bootloader, buy an international version of the phone you want, never buy a phone branded by either AT&T or Verizon. You're only other option with the i537 is to install SafeStrap, you will be able to install TouchWiz-based custom ROMs, but no CM and no AOSP.

Galaxy S6 Edge 925A 5.1.1 Root/Downgrade/TWRP Questions

I purchased a S6 Edge and it was updated to 5.1.1 when I got it. I am a big fan of rooting/flashing ROMS/mods (My last phone was an extremely modded Oneplus One which met an untimely end) but I am not really sure how to do that on this phone. I would very much appreciate any help with info on how to root/install TWRP. Additionally I know that the S6 on 5.0.2 can be rooted but I also heard that once you update to 5.1.1 can't downgrade but it's worth a shot. I also heard that the [email protected] version has a locked boot loader is there any way to unlock it? If not would flashing say a T-Mobile stock ROM work? Thank you for any help. I also know that Devs don't like being asked for ETAs so instead I will ask if anyone knows how development of Cyenogenmod for the S6 Edge is progressing?
There's no way to unlock the bootloader on the AT&T version of the phone. You won't be able to use a custom recovery such as TWRP.
This is also my first Samsung phone (I've always used HTC devices, which were so easy to unlock/root). Since you're on 5.1.1, I don't think there's any way to achieve root (yet). I may be wrong there, though.
There is no way to root, if you want to do fun stuff with your phone, stay away from at&t

Hi, I'm also in the same boat. I know that this thread is old but I am planning to buy the s6 edge with AT&T (used). The phone is currently running on 5.1.1, (OJ9).
Before buying, is there any possible root YET? Am I possible to downgrade? I am sure these questions have been answered multiple times, but like I said, the threads that I have found via XDA are old. So before purchasing, I'd just like to make sure. Thank you so much!!

No and no , the only hope we have is when we get android 6 and wait for any possible new root method.

Does Xposed exist for my phone?

Hey guys,
One of the main reasons I always want to root my phone, is not so I can customize the look and feel of it. My main reason is so I can have Xposed framework on it. I had xposed on my first rooted phone (verizon galaxy s5) and I loved it.
Later I got a verizon samsung galaxy s7 and unfortunately they could not crack that nut so there never was a version of xposed compatible with my s7.
Well now I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (snapdragon) and thanks to samfail I can easily root my phone but is there no version, whether official or unofficial of xposed available or under development for this phone? Or does the locked bootloader prevent it from ever becoming a reality? Thanks guys.

I don't have this device but, have you tried performing a search (or posted this question) within the following area of the forum that's specific to your device?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8
XPosed only requires a properly rooted device and not an unlocked bootloader because it doesn't affect the bootloader of a device.
I did notice on one or two threads regarding the Magisk XPosed working as well for your device.
Good Luck!
