[Q] Charging Beep issue. Anybody else? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

I have only had this issue twice since the launch date. Basically i'm charging from a low battery between 10%-20% walk away for awhile and when i come back to my phone it beeps about every second with the screen on and also the charging plug is very hot. It has now happened with a generic plug and also an Original Samsung plug. I only mention i walked away because i don't know if it might be a text or something that happens to make it do this. i'm open to all suggestions or questions.

AT&T Tilt broken screen

My sister's boyfriend gave me his Tilt because he bought a Blackberry. Long story, he broke the first Tilt, they replaced it for him and he broke it again and he was told it would cost $500 to repair... so he bought the new phone and gave me the Tilt for free. So here's the deal: it will charge and turn on.. but only stays on for a few seconds. The LCD is cracked... pretty obvious. However, I was wondering if there was another problem since the phone won't stay on or if it's typical for it to turn off with just a broken screen. This is basically the sequence of events:
Hit the power button, a green LED on the left of the ear piece lights up and the phone vibrates for a second.
The screen then lights up but doesn't display anything obviously... other then the black liquid and white back lighting.
The screen stays on for about 15 seconds, shuts off, the keyboard lights up for a VERY quick second and then that's it... nothing else.
I'm wondering if I should try and find a replacement screen or if there is something else wrong with it. I saw the screen on phoneystore.com a while back but the site has said it's down for maintenance every other time I checked.
Other Info - I took the back cover off and above and slightly to the right of the camera is a black dot that says "VOID".
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
Normally you only get the vibrate if you are turning on from the completely off position.
From the completely off position you have to long press the on/off button - is this what you are doing?
In any case, it's difficult to tell if there are any other problems. You could try tracking down on this site, one of thoses applications that lets you see / control the device from your PC.
That $500 figure is I assume for someone to do the repair for you, 'osc the screen would not cost anything like that.
Mike
Also that "void" dot you see I think is just over a screw and if you go inside your tilt you'd have to poke through that and it would void your warranty. So thats not because the screen is broken.
well, i don't have to hold it long before the green LED comes on and the phone vibrates... then the screen shuts off and i have to turn it back on again. it doesn't seem like it's staying on.
the $500 was from AT&T to have them fix it... so yes.
and thanks for the reply on the "VOID" - i thought it maybe had something to do with water damage or the cracked screen.
Have you tried turning it on with the wall charger plugged in? I thought I had seen my sons just shut down like that when his battery was pretty much dead and I was trying to turn it on.
Well, i was bored waiting for work this morning so i decided to put the SIM from my phone into the Tilt... I turned it on with my SIM in and it stayed on for longer... then I heard a little tick and kind of "whooosh" sound which I'm assuming is the start-up sound. Then nothing for a few seconds... then there is this "kerplunk" noise.. then the amber LED on the left of the ear piece starts flashing and then the phone starts vibrating and making a high pitch ring... the vibrating seems to be in a patter. Then I hear what sounds like it may be a shutdown noise and the phone is off again. However, the back light on the screen remained on the entire time. It might that with the SIM in it works, but the battery is dead so it turns right off? I have the wall charger here somewhere so I will have to try that after work. I will let you know the results.
most likely the sounds that your hearing are just an alarm clock going off. my guess is that the screen is the only thing that is really damaged. you can look online at ebay and get replacement screens with the tools necessary to replace the screen for under 100 bucks. i think that would be a good deal for you... keep us updated on the status
if possible if you are going to replace the screen from ebay you should take piectures. it would make a very nice guide for the noobs
yeah... i will definitely take pictures when i do it. i hope it's just the screen. i don't know why it won't stay on tho... i'm still trying to find the charger for it. i don't remember where i put it. i will keep you posted tho.
You can charge it with any USB mini type B lead plugged into a PC. You probably have one somewhere for a camera or other phone.
Don't be fooled by the shape of the socket on the bottom of the phone, it still fits.
mikechannon - do you know the name of any of these apps? i'm not able to find anything..
good news tho.. the phone now stays on and i am able to receive phone calls. i found a screen w/ tools for $70 shipped on e-bay. i want to try what you mentioned mike, hook it up to the pc. i just want to make sure everything seems okay before i buy a screen.
try my mobiler
okay... so i put the new LCD in and it works.. to an extent. it displays the at&t splash screen, then the 3G animation, then gets to the windows mobile 6.0 splash screen and it hangs there for a few seconds then shuts off. i thought maybe it needed a new battery because it wouldn't stay on before so i ran to the store and got one and it's charging now. i'm going to wait a few hours and try again...
when i try and turn the phone on when it's plugged into the charger it seems to hang on the at&t screen... this doesn't seem normal.
also, when it's not plugged in and goes through the screens, on the at&T screen it looks like it's showing RGB values or something in red text in the bottom right corner of the screen. is this normal?
Sorry, did not see your 3/22/08 post.
The RGD values in RED are normal (info about radio version etc) if you are starting from the off position or have just done a soft reset.
I'm not sure why it is hanging at the point it does. I am assuming you have done a hard reset? (you may have said - but I have not read back all the posts)
Mike
nope... no hard reset.
when i turn it on while it's plugged in the amber LED on the ear piece goes out for a minute, the AT&T screen comes up then a few seconds later the amber LED comes back on and it just stays there.
i was able to get it to get past the windows mobile 6.0 splash screen but it says 6 new notifications/alarms, then starts buzzing and ringing and turns off. one time it said battery was critically low or something. i want to assume that it is charging because the amber LED comes on.. but who knows. i would hate to have to give up at this point.

Actually that all sounds pretty normal. Yes expect to get a whole bunch of notifications that have accumulated and never been cancelled. When they come up try to cancel them quickly - just choose dismiss. Don't be surprised if there are so many that it crashes the device and you have to re-start possibly several times until eventually you get past all those notifications!! This also happens when you restore a backup - I have seen my device go absolutely bananas with many many notifications and a crash is not unexpected.
If the battery is not charged give it a good hour of charging before trying again. One thing that puzzles me is that if you have the amber light that shows charging (good) then why does it give you a message saying battery low?? Normally you will never get that notification whilst on charge.
Mike
mike,
thanks for the replies. i was able to dismiss a few of them earlier and then the battery message came up and the phone turned off. it wasn't plugged in at the time. however, i left for the day and left it plugged in for probably 7 hours or more...turned completely off...and i came home and it got past the windows splash screen again and then said the main battery was critically low and turned off. can't get it to stay on now. i'm lost...
it seems like my only other option is to try a new charger.. but if the LED comes on it would seem as though it is working. i checked all of the contacts where the battery goes and like i said earlier, i bought a new battery this morning. i really don't want to take it apart again. while it was apart i did my best to clean the any dust or other build-up. i guess i could try and charge it on the computer.
my phone does the same thing I accidently dunked about an inch of it the top of the phone into a cup, thought it was ok after i let it dry off and it would boot up but I still can't get the phone to really charge, the orange light will go on but the battery never charges and I used to get the red critical battery warning. Ive tried a bunch of different chargers but still nothing just gets to the second splash screen in duttys rom and turns off now. Hopefully you can get your up though, just wish i could get 30 minutes of battery to get it back to stock rom and everything so i could send it back as the bottom never got wet and the water check under the battery is still white.
Mmmm. Well sounds like there is a hardware charging problem. Pity you don't have one of those chargers where you can dock a spare battery to charge it up. It would be a hassle though if that's the only way to charge the battery. There are ways to charge the battery by wiring the battery directly to a set of AA batteries or a charger, but that would not solve the problem in the long run.
There are companies that will replace the USB connection on the M/board but that would be to assume that is where the fault is - and I'm not convinced it is. The fact that the orange charge LED comes on suggests the USB connection may be ok and that it may be the battery connection block that has a broken connection. This is not easy to repair if at all. I have seen one reported case where that block with the gold connectors had broken connections and a repair company could not resolder all the connections.
One thing to try regarding the battery connector block. With the luck of the Gods it might just be that one or more pins is not making a good batter contact. Try cleaning the pins and battery contacts. (A bit of a forlorn hope though)
Mike
well, good news!
i left it plugged into the computer all night and turned it on this morning and it went through all of the alarms... i dismissed them all. it then stayed on!!! so i went to the system settings and looked at the battery life and it said it was at 100%. perhaps it was the charger... which would be odd. now when it's plugged into the PC the amber LED comes on for a second then switches to green. i'm going to try and use it for the day and make sure i can turn it on and off without any problems. the AT&T store is closed here today so i'll have to get a charger one day during the week. i will post back at the end of the day.

Series of Unfortunate Events!!

Ok where do I begin. I love this phone but it's driving me nuts and that's supposed to be your girlfriend/wifes job. My phone seems to be charging EXTREMELY slow. I have batterystatus installed on my phone and when the phone is charging you see the progress bar moving. I've been charging my phone for about 2 1/2 hours now and I'm only at 57 percent, not even using it or having email come to my phone. I'm coming to the conclusion that my battery is shot and I will have to get a new one. Last night I was using my phone and it was charging by my bed. I wake up this morning and the orange LED is on (indicating that it's charging) I'm like wtf it should be green because I've slept for 8 HOURS! I unhook the phone and the battery is at 0 percent and the phone just shuts off on me. I charge the phone and managed to get it to 25 percent before leaving for work. Right now I have my phone plugged into the wall and its taking forever to charge. Should I reflash my ROM and RADIO again. I've been holding off on buying an extended battery because I'm waiting for Seido 3000 Mah Battery.
It's a cheaper option to reflash before spending the money on a new batt.

i know that some radios will eat up ur battery and cause rapid drainage, however i can't conclude that as no idea what rom/radio u r using. i doubt if flashing new rom is gona help. flash a different compatible radio and c if that helps; if not ur sol and probably need new battery.
peace,
sire
You could try putting the phone in flight mode to rule out a radio problem. Assuming no running programs in memory I would conclude a battery or charging circuit issue. I assume both mains charger and USB have been tried.
Ensure battery contacts are clean and the contacts on the phone.
You could try the wiggling the battery on and off the phone contacts method as used for the RLOD issue, just in case the charging circuit needs a kick start. The only note of caution here is that there are two cases (to my knowledge) of this trick possibly causing the rasdio to fail. So if I was trying this I would certainly have it in flight mode first - it is afterall a very crude method of forcing pulses of charge through the circuit.
Mike
I've been using Schaps 4.31 (only rom I have ever flashed, very satisfied with it)
Radio: 1.27.15.32
Problem just started 2 days ago. I tried plugging into another outlet thinking that maybe there was a problem with the outlet I was using and the same thing happens.
I feel like my kaiser is on life support, it hurts. I have to keep it plugged in to have it not die on me. I bought this from a friend 3 months ago for $250 but my Carrier AT&T and my EMPLOYER will not replace it because you can't have a transfer in warranty if you buy it from a friend. I think it's BS but w/e. If not I would have sent it in and got a refurbished one. Any other ideas
Hi gqstatus0685
I had an issue like this years ago. I had no friends who had the same phone so I took it into a store to test it.
You will need YOUR phone / battery AND charger and try it as follows:
1. THEIR charger with YOUR battery (if it works your charger may be broken but your battery is probably fine - if it doesnt work your battery or phone could be at fault)
2. THEIR charger with THEIR battery (this should work - if it doesnt your phone may be faulty)
3. YOUR charger with THEIR battery (again this should work, if not, your charger is probably at fault)
Let us know how you get on.
Cheers

First off, let me state that if you are having possible battery issues where you can't charge, I'd be VERY careful of trying to flash anything else. During the flashing process the phone will not charge. So if the battery goes dead during the minute or so it takes to do this, you will probably brick your device (or at best, not have a bootable phone that will not charge anymore since it can't boot).
This does sound like a hardware issue though. Either your charging circuit is shot, or your battery has died... Definetly try out zippyioa's advice to try to determine what isn't working.
BTW: Does it charge better or differently with USB cable vs the wall charger?
Also since you mention having BatteryStatus installed, turn on the indicator that shows the power. When its charging, what does it show for mA? When its not charging, what does this show?
All of a sudden my phone started to charge again. It charges very slow with wall power kind of like the way it's supposed to charge when connected to USB. Quoate me if I'm wrong but USB charge is slower than wall charge. I noticed that the Orange indicator will be lit noting that it's charging but then all of a sudden the indicator disappears and I have to unhook USB and re-plug it again. That's probably the reason why it's dead when I wake up in the morning. I don't touch the cable or move anything it just stops charging. I also noticed that when I get a missed call, SmS, MMS message it will stop charging unless I dismiss the messages. I haven't really confirmed this but I will. Thanks for the advice guys. You guys are the best.
I'm glad you are up and running again. These things do come and go occassionaly.
You are correct with your view on charging. A USB charge from my PC takes much longer than my wall charger.
Seems odd that your phone stops charging if you get an SMS.
It sounds like something is definitely wrong - a re-flash MAY help BUT as mfrazzz said above I would be very careful as a lack of power during a flash could cause MAJOR issues for you.
Have you managed to get the power back up to 100% yet?
If so, does it hold charge when you unplug it?
If not, what happens if you leave it on charge (I would put in flight mode as Mike suggested above to avoid call/SMS interuptions)
Cheers

If the light ghoes out after charging awhile, then you have most likely damaged the USB port with clumsy hands while trying to reset. Take a look at the USB Port. If it is even slightly curved or lower on the right side even by only a mm. then I'm right. This can cause a bad connection & occasionally can be fixed by gently bending at back into shape. HTC uses two different USB ports on the Kaiser, this is easier to fix on the open ended type, but because it is weaker, it's also easier to break, so be careful.
By default the USB port pin block is arrow straight.
My usb port was f**** up, I bent it back into place and it charges now.
I installed battery meter and when not plugged in I'm displaying:
6% I guess that's CPU usage
29.8 degrees/84 degree Fahrenheit have no idea what that is
87mA It fluctuates the lowest I've seen it was at 60 mA/Highest being 437mA
I'm going to add that my Kaiser has the HTC home plugin and battery meter. I only have one push email acct for my GMAIL. I don't get alot of emails on there. Mostly ones I send myself like files and such. No programs running in the background.
UPDATE**
Ok my phone has been charging all night. I wake up this morning and the charging indicator is orange when it should be green. I unhook the phone and Boom phone turns off. My phone is completely dead. I've been charging my phone for a while now (4-5 hours) and my phone is stuck at 57% does not move up. I'm leaning toward a battery problem. I'm going to put my phone in flight mode to further confirm.

Have you tried the tests I suggested above (using store charger/battery)?

I forgot to add and I'm sorry that about a month ago I had my wall charger in my pocket and it fell into the toilet. I still works maybe thats' what's causing the prob. It was working fine after I dried it off and let it sit.
LOL, I would bet a lot of money that is your problem, try a new AC adapter before you buy a new battery.
yeah I'll try to buy another one and see if that fixes my problem. I mean why would it happen now all of a sudden. By the way I just happened to walk by the toilet and it fell in. I had it in my hoody pocket. Don't keep things there they fall easily like my first Kaiser..RIP 2007-2007

Thats definitely not good! Even if it dried out fully the water could have partially damaged the internal circuits. It may have taken time for the charger to go completely.
As I have suggested several times, you need to try another charge/battery!
Do you have a car charger or a friend with the same phone?
Zippyioa
Yeah. I have a car charger I bought from Ebay. Was hesitant on trying since I heard they fry phones. Tomorrow morning I'll go to store and test out my battery and plug. Hopefully it works. Wish me luck

Galaxy Gear won't charge or turn on

I've seen several threads about this in the past month on other websites with no solutions so it seems to be a common issue.
The problem I'm having is that after not using my gear for a few days it refuses to charge or turn on. Not even a flicker when the charger is attached. Tried two different cords. Pins are clean and lined up. Left it plugged in overnight several times. Anyone else having or had this issue? Thanks
I don't have an answer for the problem at hand but I would like to stay updated with this thread. I'm looking into getting one very soon.

Yes but since the unit is completely dead it has no effect
Here are some other threads where users are having the same issue:

After trying a third cord for a Samsung blue tooth headset I finally got the gear to show it is charging and states 60% battery. Very strange. Tried turning it on and resetting it several times beforehand too so even though it had charge it was temporarily bricked. Hope this doesn't happen again
I had an similar experience the other day, the clock wouldn't start/charge or react to the power button. After i repeatedly tried to hold the powerbutton i finally rebooted. I suspect the gear was actually on, but that the system froze. Was about to do the surgery to remove the battery to check when it booted up
sent from my carrier pidgeon
I recently had this issue with one of my gear.this problem comes when you leave you watch on and battery drains and you don't charge for couple of weeks.I think it has something to do motherboard.only way to fix this is to replace battery which has juice in it.that's how I got mine working.I replaced the battery from my working watch and it started working and the dead battery I took out put in my other watch also started charging and working.this is a factory defect and Samsung should replace it free lifetime of watch instead of one year.

I found that if you take the Galaxy Gear apart and disconnect the power from the motherboard then plug back in and put the gear back together has got them to turn back on almost every time just give it a charge for a few minutes. This will fix it as long as the issue was not due to rooting to trying to put a custom ROM on the Gear. There is a few videos on YouTube that can help you take it apart.
- I work for Samsung experience shop and i have run into this issue often and just about every time this has fixed it.
- sorry for late response hope your back in the business with the Gear.
I've had this issue with wall chargers and did some reading online. Someone suggested to plug it into a computer/laptop usb port.
I plugged it into the laptop and walked away and guess what? It's charging. I tried many different chargers varying in ratings but nothing worked
Try leaving it plugged into the pc for a good while. After two days of trying various chargers, my gear is back up and running
Had this issue as well. I tried a series of taps to the power button followed by a hold and it eventually turned on and has been working fine since.
tap - hold
tap tap - hold
tap tap tap - hold
eventually it will come on, i cant remember how many taps it was when it finally reset.
Hi had this issue also spent 3 hours trying to figure it out as had just got gear out of its box at very first plugging charger in a quick image appeared on screen then off after that nothing. Eventually being as carefully as possible while gear was in charging dock still plugged in i opened the lid not once did i move gear off contacts but did give sight wiggle then it came to life appears to me its a docking problem of some sort. of course I DON'T RECOMMEND opening lid while charging but thought id pass on what i figured out do at your own risk, I hope this helps others with this issue
Thanx

Gear Watch Charging FIXED!
Thanks to this thread I am very happy!
Just bought a 2nd hand Gear Watch at auction. No idea about how they work and wondered why it wouldn't switch on or respond when charging. Just a black screen regardless of which charger or cable was connected. Read above about disconnecting the power from the motherboard so watched this youtube video on tear down ( won't let me post the full link but this is the video number... v=5WzGC0786U0 )
Luckily had a small 'star' toolset available. Pulled the watch apart... disconnected the power...reconnected the power...reassembled the watch... plugged into the charger and voila! Instantly showed up on the screen with an orange timer and then went black (held my breath) then came on with the battery symbol with 0% charge. Looking at it as I write...touched the screen and now has 10% charge (only been about 5 minutes).
Looking forward to playing with it when fully charged Thank you to the contributors to this thread. I thought I'd been ripped off...but now it seems I'm the one who has scored a working Gear Watch for £20 )))
mine started working on its own... strangely enough.
taking the advice from this thread, i looked into alternate ways to get my Galaxy Gear up and running. I tried cleaning the metal tabs that connect, tried opening the holster while it was plugged in, nothing. i didn't have a star kit to take it apart, so i left it on the charger while i could go find one. thing is, i completely forgot about it, since i've got the Gear 2 for my S5. i was cleaning around my desk and bumped into the gear which fell over and showed that it was at 100% charged capacity. beforehand, it was completely dead, despite the fact that i left it on the charger for a solid 24 hours and no response. maybe it just needed a little more time on there, who knows. but i powered it on, and it's fully functioning. the only drawback is that it needs a factory reset since it was without power for so long. i could connect it as an accessory to my S5, but i couldn't use it in the place of my Gear 2 as it's been rooted/running a _null ROM, and the Gear Manager software has been updated a few times. i'm going to factory reset it and pair it with my Note 3, and see if _null has an updated version of his ROM out there. but i figured i'd let someone know my experience in case it might help in some way.
Fixed it !

Just to share my experience, I left my gear about 2 months discharged, today I tried to charge it and nothing. I tried everything, clean, connect, disconnect etc, so, I pulled the watch apart and disconnected the power etc and everything is working fine now, charging as usual.
Here's what worked for me
I read on another site to try a piece of paper folded and put next to the on button so when the charging cradle is snapped closed it pushes it down. I just tried it and after many days of a dead gear watch....ta da! Success. Now it's on and charging. Take the paper out once it starts to reboot otherwise it will just cycle over and over. Hope this helps someone else. It's tricky to fit just right...i folded a tiny piece of post it note ...good luck. Penelope

I had the same problem: the gear is dead and not charging with a wall charger after leaving the gear for more than 1 month unused. I followed ph00ny's advice and tried to charge it via usb and it immediately started to charge. So before taking it apart I suggest try it out with usb charger.
Cheers
Stopped my gear update by shutting off my phone and now gear wont power on
I have been trying everything to get it to turn on.... (holding down the power button, tap and hold, charging with USB) nothing is working. Don't have a star driver to open it up, but may have to invest in one.
Anyone have the same issue? This is driving me crazy!

Had this issue as well. I tried a series of taps to the power button followed by a hold and it eventually turned on and has been working fine since.
tap - hold
tap tap - hold
tap tap tap - hold
eventually it will come on, i cant remember how many taps it was when it finally reset.

Bingooooooo, It's paradoxal All you have to do when the battery is left drained for a couple of days is to start charging on a Laptop or a desktop with a s4 usb cord for about 10 mn then you continue charge if you like with à wall charger

Oddly enough this is nothing but the truth. Funny enough. I lost my charger dock thingamajig recently and not one hour ago i started making my own out of a 2x4, and a few bits laying around. Was sad to see gear wouldnt charge or boot. tried different chargers and nothing. I read everything and saw this and didnt think to try as im only running two wires to charge my gear, as those with homemade chargers know. Plugged it into a laptop and boom. charging... please someone explain to me the theory behind this. and dont say the current as i even tried 500ma and 250ma chargers to no avail. how does a pc usb magically do it without data lines connected.... so confused..

Funky charging issue

This isn't really a question, so much as just something that happened to me over the weekend. Take it for what it's worth I guess.
When I purchased my Edge, I also picked up a Verizon branded wireless charger, and Fast Car Charger, with some other stuff. The car charger didn't look exactly "new" when I opened it up, and sure enough only worked for about a week. Since I'm a half hour in the wrong directions to a corporate store, I just reverted back to my old normal car charger in the meantime. Everything else worked as expected, though the phone would get a little warmer if I was tethering and on the wireless charger. But nothing I would call unexpected.
Saturday, I managed to go past a corp store, and went in and had the charger exchanged. This one was definitely new, and a coiled one instead of a straight wire. Whatever, I prefer that anyway. Plugged it in, red light, good. Got home, and was on skype and saw my battery getting down to the 30%ish area, so I reached for my trusty Samsung charger and plugged it in. And whereas the Fast Charging would show up in the dropdown, this time it didn't. Just Charging, and 4 hours to full. Um... weird. I cranked the brightness down and turned on powersaving, and it still was dropping very steadily, which never happened before. I tried another cable, same result. "Normal" charging, but not able to keep up if the phone was actually in use. Tried another wall adapter, with combinations of either cable, same. Wireless WOULD keep up, barely, and the phone would get ridiculously hot after a few minutes. Plugged that new car charger in, red light charging, no Fast Charge though.
Tried a soft reboot, tried turning it off and let it charge all the way, nothing. So when I resigned myself to needing to try a factory reset on it, I plugged it into the computer to try to save off pictures. No go, computer won't recognize the phone, in any of the half dozen USB ports, and no matter what cable. The phone doesn't recognize a connection there either for transfer, no notification, just a trickle charge.
Ultimately, called into tech support, 56 minutes of basically rehashing everything I had done to ensure that I didn't miss any steps. I understand the need to go through the checklist but man, at the end of the list, don't try fishing online for other "options". I could tell, too, because they were reading word for word the same sites I had just spent an hour looking through. "Let's see... phone will charge faster with the phone powered off"... Really, Sherlock? Doesn't change the fact that it's not behaving normally. So they ordered up for a replacement device, which I'm awaiting confirmation of. And I have a feeling my lunch break will be calling back to verify, because this was at 8 O'clock last night, and here it is 2:30 in the afternoon and I have yet to get any information on the replacement. (EDIT: Sure enough 3 minutes after hitting post, I get the txt with the tracking number. Go figure.)
I'll also be sending the car charger to a friend of mine who works the corp store I got the phone at, sometime, so he can plug it into THEIR phones and test it. If it is in fact a problem with that charger that fried something in mine, I'm not about to plug it into another one of mine first. I've been very lucky with phones over the years, but it never changes the frustration when it DOES happen.
Same
I had a similar issue with my S6 Edge this past weekend. I tredi charging it with 2 different fast chargers and three other cables. It said charging and I would walk out of the room and within minutes, it was no longer charging.
My wife's edge charged just fine.
I called VZ and we walked through all the typical stuff. Finally, we did a "wipe cache" option on the boot screen (Hold Power and Home button Reset)
It worked.
Rep said there must have been some corrupted file that was screwing me up. I had just downloaded a game about an hour earlier from the app store. I deleted that for good measure. (though in fairness, no idea if that is what caused it-- but seems logical given that is the only change made since last charge)
Hmm odd. Usually charging issues are hardware related and I don't believe I've heard of a software action fixing it. Good for you though.
Very strange, I had the very same issue last night and today. Since I ordered mine online it was a bigger hassle especially considering the gold platinum variant is out of stock everywhere. they're sending me a new one and then I'll return this one does this week.
Wow I thought I was the only one with this issue. I also picked up a Verizon branded fast charger and now I can't even charge my phone with it since it'd just slow charge and whereas with the original charger would tell me normal charging but give me a time estimate of 2 hours from 70 percent.
Yeah, the replacement phone works fine, including with the fast car charger. Now it's been just shy of one month since getting the replacement phone, and I had the original about a month, so guess we'll see if it lasts, but I'm pretty confident it was a rare phone issue instead, and keeping my fingers crossed that this one continues going fine.

Samsung Gear S Neo bought used shows back screen slight buzz when charging help!

Help! I am new to this and hoping that someone can help me. I bought a used Gear 2 Neo on eBay and received it today. I have tried to charge it but just get a buzz and black screen. I have never owned one before and maybe I am missing something? I am not sure but I have tried charging it only to get the same results! Nothing but a buzz and black screen. Should I return it or is there something I am not doing correctly?. Thank you for any help Susie.
Typo in title should say black screen not back screen, misspelled out of frustration!
You must see the charging screen (battery %) if you press the button.
Otherwise try with a wall charger not usb computer.
if it buzzes when charging, its likely defective. I connect mine to my to my computer all the time when i SDB shell into it to add/change notifications on it. If the battery is completely discharged, i guess its possible for it to act erratically, but a buzzing sound doesnt sound like it bodes well. You can connect it to a regular charger for a bit and see if it ever shows anything on the screen, and if it doesnt, maybe let it sit charging for about 20 min then long press the button and see if it boots. If not, its defective.
