The case has a very solid, tight-fitting plastic enclosure for the phone. I'm quite sure that it's solidly ensconced and won't fall out. It appears to be an inexpensive plastic case married to the wonderful leather wallet. I'm all about taking care of my phone, so the struggle to get the phone in was actually a happy event. It means the phone is solidly in the case.
The leather is distressed and really nice. The manufactory says it is some kind of Italian Full-grain Cowhide leather ,which i can not tell but i can tell that is such a wonderful leather .Solid and elegant in the same way that a beautiful brief case from the 20s is elegant and solid. The distressed patina makes it feel comfortable, yet durable. Then again, I carry a fountain pen, so perhaps you should take that into account during this review.
I'm currently carrying three insurance cards (don't you love the modern age, wherein you can't carry ONE card because that would be too easy) in the upper slot. The lower slot has two credit cards (well, really, ONE credit card and one debit card, but who's counting?!). You can fit cards behind the window ID slot, but I don't. There's also a full-length slot behind the card slots. I keep some cash there, it's not really capable of holding your hordes of filthy lucre. honestly. And while you store 4 cards in the case , it will still be closed flat as there is a invisible tiny magnetic closure at side.
this phone case comes with No wrist strap. actually a strap is useful , especially for girls , this should be a minus
I'm the girl who lives digitally for work, but I appreciate analogue and patina and function. This wallet meets my needs nearly perfectly. Why doesn't it rate a 5 star, then? It isn't life-changing. That's my requirement for 5 stars. Something that completely alters my worldview. It's a phone case and wallet in one. This isn't monumental, but it's very worthy of consideration. Now, a Kitchenaid Mixer, wallet, phone case...THAT could be a 5 star!
Here is how you can win this case according the message manufactory sent me

No NFC or Qi charging it seems? Or rather would using the second layer of plastic and the leather prevent reliable functionality?

can someone please confirm with 100% certainty that qi wireless charging will work with this case. i've had cases like this before that the combined thickness of the leather and the separate plastic holder built into the wallet case are too thick to allow reliable and consistent qi charging.
any feedback from actual owners of this case would be greatly appreciated -- the case looks quite nice, but for me, qi is more important.
thanks in advance.

It's cheap enough... Go for it!
I'm on case overload with this thing and have two similar cases coming next week....
Aside from the TPU covers I purchased the week before.
And the Android felt zipper cases the week before that......

The N7 magnets aren't even close to being strong enough to be able to hold a case that has a hinge on the left closed. The problem is, there is only one set of magnets with the N7, and they are on the left, where most hinges are. That leaves about 4" of flap left. That's a lot of torque for such a small magnet. They had to add their own, probably stronger magnets, which is why there is a flap.
It might be able to hold shut a case with a hinge on the right.
I just ordered one (yellow) so we shall see! I'll take some photos and provide a brief review once it arrives.
No pictures of what it looks like on the inside.... Does it cover the bezel?

Are you thinking of holding it by the front cover only and that it would stay closed? I simply meant that magnets should be able to hold it closed without needing a latch-style magnet.
I have the CaseCrown Bold, I realize that the magnets would not hold it closed if I only held it by the front cover. I personally would never hold it just by the front cover regardless, I carry it like I carry a book, with the spine in the palm of my hand.
Doesn't mention anything regarding SmartCover functionality so my guess is that this case doesn't support it.

I purchased one, will update when it arrives. The seller has a 60 day money back guarantee.
I saw this exact auction today as well!!!
The case look slim and nice and doesn't have a lot of bulk.
if you look at the seller feedback history you'll see that everyone who has purchased the same case has nothing but great things to say about it.
I think for under 10 dollars shipped it's a no brainer. Ordering 1 now.

That doesn't necessarily mean it has the auto sleep/wake feature. Remember the official Asus case for the Nexus 7 was also branded as a "smart case".
Add to this, there is no mention of the feature in the product description either.

E-Cell Luxury Protective Leather Case [Review]

So I've just received the case today and here is my mini review. I apologise for the blurry photo's lol
First I will point out that I'm not sure whether it is real leather or not, it smells similar but is quite faint - I'd say that is isn't real. Either way I'm not fussed as it was £8.95 and it still looks and feels nice.
Some pictures of how it came and what it looks like without the Nexus 7 in.

It was very easy to get the Nexus 7 into the case, first I put the right side into the case and gently pushed on the left and it popped straight in. defiantly feels secure.
It fits really well and the front flap will protect the screen from any hard objects,
As you can see all the ports are exposed, even the microphones have cut outs.
You can see the speaker has a cut out, I haven't noticed any difference in volume.
If you try to fold the flap behind the device you end up with this, which could be good for typing on the keyboard in landscape. Although if you place pressure on it you can hold it fine in portrait mode.
The case is very stable in the 'stand' mode and you can angle it to how you want.
Overall I am very happy with the case and I feel that it will defiantly protect the Nexus 7 so I won't really have to worry as much as it being 'naked'.
It also features the magnet sleep sensor function!
Looks: 8/10
Protection: 7/10

It looks pretty nice and it's what I was after as I don't really want a bulky case that covers the whole device, I've also purchased gloss and matte screen protectors.
Does anyone here have this already? or has ordered one too?
I'll update this with a review once I get it.

I don't think it does unfortunately but my device is charging atm so I haven't even tried. Tbh I think with a small enough magnet you could fit on yourself.
Or you can use the Proximity Sensor sleep applications.

Thank you so much for updating, another question though, it looks like it does not have any ridge on the flap to stop the case from slipping when using it as stand just like this one:

Can you please confirm that it does not slip when you put the tablet in landscape orientation... cheers bud

Yeah it doesn't have a ridge, it depends how you place the tablet. If you are using it on a flat surface and you are not moving the tablet then it will stay in place. However if you start moving around the tablet will slowly start to slide until it comes off the front flap and stops.
It can stay in place well if you don't move around much if you are resting it on your legs though.
thanks, i ordered the brown one anyway

Has anyone tried this specific "smart cover" case?

I looked around for smart covers on ebay and found the cover below. It doesn't fold around like this case does and in general looks more stable judging by the pictures (they could be wrong though).
Have any of you tried it? I have not found a review of it yet but I figured it might be worth asking.

Yes I have this case, I tell you its a beautiful case to hold and look at. There are other colour variants available which I got the red one.
Its very sleek, doesn't add much weight or bulk to the device.
The sleep functions works brilliantly, and doesn't lock the device when you fold it over to hold like a book, which some do.
ONE DOWNSIDE!!!! - The stand is very hard to figure out (i have not yet figured how to fold it to make it stand up haha !)
Hope this helps answer your questions.
And I genuinly recommend this case as its ace ! (that rhymes weee)

You're right mate, asif
Yeah the coloured variants have a lip that does go round the back, but its not noticeable and surely you want this to keep it nicely closed and secure?

I think it's noticeable, especially when I have that extra flap to fold back over when I'm using the N7 in my hand.
I want to keep it closed and secure, sure, when it's in a bag or something. But my N7 spends most of its time on my coffee table or bar; I'd love to have a slim case with just a flap over the screen to keep the dust out. That doesn't cost $30+ like the Poetics or Portenzos of the world.

That's a different case, with the wrap-around flap on the right side. I already have that one.
look, heres the deal, that case may look pretty but any case like that wont stay closed. for it to be closed, there would have to be magnets along the edges like the portfolio. any case maker that says the case will stay closed without magnets on the border is lying.
I own one and its awesome. Buy it.

I have to admit, I never really liked these cases... but after seeing that YouTube review online, I'm curious enough to give it a shot.
I'm absolutely in love with this Speck case, but I do have a minor concern with it. I use my Nexus 7 frequently, very frequently, and not only that but I use it for work. I'm continually walking up and down the hall at work going from one problem to another, using my N7 along the way. As a result, I'm concerned I may wear out the clip on the Speck case quite a bit. This only became a thought when I realized the clipping mechanism is significantly easier now than it was when I bought it. Broken in? Maybe. Will it get even softer? Very possible. This case ensures that won't happen since the magnets of course don't have physical contact to wear like that. While the higher stand up position seems a bit easy to topple over, the other one with the N7 (one I'd likely prefer anyway) looks a bit better in terms of stability.
At any rate, ah, I bought one just now - we'll see what happens when it gets here.
Edit - for what it's worth the one I ordered did indeed have the magnetic flap that goes around back to ensure it stays shut. I'm not sure I'd consider one without...
Case arrived today, so far I like it, the cover lies flatter than the eBay case with the extra flap, and it feels slimmer. Only downside so far is that it sometimes puts the tablet to sleep when I fold it back. We'll see if it gets better over time. I'll try to take pictures when I have a chance.

maybe slip something to block the magnet on the back? not sure what can maybe help on that front, but maybe a little thickness might be enough.
Side note, anyone have this and the poetic slimline case? I got the first case they had for my uncle, but it's a bit difficult for him to open. I'd get him a portenzo like mine, but it might actually add more bulk than I'd want for him.

Here is a case with charger!

that's pretty cool. Could be useful for power burners and really long trips or days. And $23 is pretty cheap.

Looks like they dont want you talking on the phone with this thing..
On a side note: how do these things actually work? Does it constantly keep your phone in charging mode (until the external battery is drained)? or does the phone use your main battery, THEN switch to the external battery (or vice versa)? (sorry I have never used one of these on any phone...only seen them for crapple phones)
Just ordered one will update when tested out.....

This looks very interesting. I'd be interested to see how it works for you.
It looks a little awkward to get the phone in and out without damaging the usb plug.

When turned on, the external case battery pack will keep the phone battery charged until it's depleted.

The images on the website above shows a depression next to the usb plug to expose the mic when connected.

I don't think it is a good idea using a case like this since it does nothing to protect the front glass edges of the Note 2 since it is snapping on primarily through the back. If you drop your Note 2 with this on, there is a good chance it will be against the front edges of the glass display and the notable amount of added weight increases the chance of cracking. It is much better to have a standard case that provides a lip and get a cheap $10 spare battery.

I went and checked out the one that ATT has(also listed on web site). It's $99 retail and the battery is in the face cover. The cover is extremely thick and heavy. To my surprise when I went to fold the cover close it wouldn't close. the battery/cover hits the screen of the phone. If you press hard it will lie flat but there is no clasp to close it. The guy at the store couldn't figure it out either. It seemed like a totally terrible design.

I have had a similar one for a while now , in white color costs about 30$ here in singapore , its quite good and sturdy , the drawback mainly is that you cant remove the stylus when you have this case on . but otherwise the case and the battery is good hope we get a better design with the option to remove the spen or hook it up somewhere in the case should also be fine.. instead of in the phone..
Found this by accident while searching for a charger. $25 + $2 shipping. Available in black or white. Built in kickstand.

I just ordered the case that the OP posted. I will let you know as well how I like it. It isn't the perfect design but for the basic functionality of having an extra battery built into the case is good enough for me. The factory battery is already pretty good if you know how to maximize the life of it. I won't use the case everyday, but only during those times when I really need a extra long battery life and don't have access to a charger. And for just under $25 it looks like a good deal to me
Thanks for sharing OP

Looking carefully at the picture at the posted URL, it looks like there is a little dimple where the mic is so you can talk. But it appears to cover the Spen completely.

"Otterbox Commuter" Mod with a Kickstand

Otterbox offers some of the best protection cases for devices. It rarely incorporates kickstands as part of the main casing. This shows you how I managed to splice in a thin kickstand from another casing. This saves you from carrying those stands so you can watch videos hands-free.
The "Otherbox Commuter" case you see here is an exact $5 replica done by a company called Swisstech in one of their kiosk stores here in Metro Manila. The original Otterbox Commuter cost $70 retail here.

The TPU case with the kick stand actually cost more at about $9!
You can exact the process with the original Commuter case if you want to do this.
This will give you peace of mind for accidental drops but giving you that kickstand function but still as thin.
Here's the video link of the finished case:

That's a lot of work for a single position kickstand. I just attached this kickstand to my case and I love it:

Nah, the point of the project was to really put the stand inside and not be just anything that I put on to the surface of the case. The 3 hours I put into this paid of so that it can still fit into my book hiding place for the Note II.

I've been to the Philippines twice and love it. It's not that it's so dangerous that you will get robbed blindly down the street, it's that items of value are less common, so you could get swiped in the most inopportune times. In the US or other locations, it's more common to see expensive gadgets. There is a lot of poverty in the Philippines and in regions of the world like that, it's very common.
It doesn't suck because you grow up knowing that's the way things are there.
ANYWAY, back on topic. Is there any way to get a Swiss-Tech case online? Was looking and it seems there is no way to get them. I like the price and the difference in look from the "Otterbox".
I'm all for making mods where necessary, but a similar case with a stand already built in seems easier.
This one is $7. My wife and I have them in different colors. They're great.

There's none, as I mentioned. There are even different color variants of the silicone part of this like pink, blue, red, yellow and white.

Ya shipping cost sucks however I was able to get 3 for $13 including shipping with a coupon.
yeah, 4-5 bucks delivered isn't bad, but anything more is silly
Id just go for a otterbox defender case. Super tough case plus the clip on the holsters locks open if you want to become a stand.. on the down side this case does make it a bit bulky but still protects it extremely well. .

Yes, there are reasons why is choose the Commuter over the Defender. One thing is the difficulty of changing the battery and taking out the micro SD card. I'd not be using that holster that much either. Where would I store that? I'm trying hard to conceal the Note, not actually show it off on my waist.

Not saying you wanna show it off. I only use it because I work on construct ion sites and it offers superior protection ......

I can understand needing the Defender in a construction site. I'm an architect.
The reason for me is to conceal the Note II:
