Is there a way to run Rasbian on my Android phone - it was made for a ARM processor? It would be cool to boot Rasbian directly with a Android or other phone. I am running Ubuntu on my Winbook 8" tablet in a virtual machine (vmware) which works quite good.

Rasbian is just a Debian fork made specifically for the rasberry pi...
there were projects for it a while back, but a quick google search shows they've been dead for a while,
probably because no one found a use for them...
which brings me to this, why do you want Debian on your phone?

i've previously used this :https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zpwebsites.linuxonandroid
but i also found this... and this sounds a lot more interesting. It looks like (from first glance) you might be able to run (albeit via chroot and vnc like above) singular apps: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=x.org.server
In my opinion the best APP capable of running Linux in Android is
"Linux Deploy"
It needs root because your Linux distribution runs in chroot,
but you can configure it to run almost everything.
(Debian, kali, ubuntu, arch....)
I use it myself with my nexus 5 and you can do the same as with
a raspberry, but faster (Software side, gpio output ia not possible)
For example, a minecraft Server runs very well :good:

i intend to run lumia 535 on my laptop can anyone guide me and give me the required details
I'm tempted to start this comment with a snarky suggestion about seeing your psychiatrist... The short version is that what you are asking for is not really possible. First of all, nearly all phones (including Lumias) run on an ARM processor, which executes ARM instructions; PCs run on x86/AMD64 processors, which execute x86 instructions. The two are completely incompatible; the CPU in a computer will have no idea how to execute code from a phone ROM. Next, phone ROMs are carefully customized for their target platforms, and don't include drivers for anything not present on the phone in question (this saves storage space and boot time, among other advantages); even if you could get the OS to begin booting, it wouldn't know how to drive your PC's display, or read from its USB ports or touchscreen (if it has one), or access its network card, or... you get the idea. There are probably other issues you'd run into, but those should be quite enough to demonstrate the problem.
Now, if you just want to test out WP8 apps and make sure web sites will render correctly on a Lumia 535, you can do that using the WP8/WP8.1 emulator that comes with the Windows Phone Development Kit (free download from Microsoft via http://msdn.com). The emulator is actually running x86 code, nor ARM code, so it runs at native speed on a PC, and it's only *most* of the WP8 OS (some stuff, like the ability to download Store apps, is missing), but it works well enough for the purposes it's intended for. If you just want to run WP8.x apps on your PC (the way Bluestacks lets you do with Android apps), you may need to wait for Windows 10; Windows 8.1 can run PC/tablet *versions* of some recent WP8 apps (and if you buy the app on either platform, you can access it on both) but most phone apps, especially the older ones, don't have a PC/tablet version yet.
Doesnt he mean project my screen?

For anyone that's interested in running Android on their PC see the link below. It can either be natively run or run in a Virtual Enviroment with VMware or Virtualbox.
I'm currently trying it out with VMware and everything seems to working just fine, play store, you tube, internet, even sound is working. The only thing I've come across is the gallery force closes.

For a quick and easy setup to run in VMware or Virtualbox download the image from here: http://www.osboxes.org/android-x86/
See the screenshots below of it running on my Desktiop:
Thanks for the heads-up @ashyx, just had it running in VirtualBox on Kubuntu 14.04. It was a little buggy, kept getting playstore FCs fairly constant, even though I signed into Google.
Apart from that it runs well enough, I'm a little busy dealing with a dead hdd on my raid, so I only had a cursory glance, can't wait to spend more time with it when time allows though, thanks again.

Strange must be a virtual box issue. Play store was just fine for me. Im using vmware workstation 12 on a Windows 8.1 box.
I even managed to use the 02 TUGO app to send text messages from my pc.
I'm surprised how well it works actually.
Could be 'cause I tried the latest version 4.4-r3 which according to the available downloads, only works on VB. The version previous ver, 4.4-r2 works on both VB and VmW.
Might roll back and see if it works better.

Got around to giving 4.4-r2 a run, smooth as silk. Playstore updated all the software without a hitch too, so it not only now works, it works well, Much fun coming up.
Where would one get some help setting this up? I've tried several times to get it to boot from a USB hard drive and it just tosses me into the grub> prompt when it boots.....
Really would like to tinker with it. It will run from install but after that...no joy.
EDIT: Got it going! Switched to 4.4.r2 worked a charm!
Kinda neat seeing it run on a AMD Phenom CPU.

nvm. got it working
Looking to find a way to boot a zip.file ROM using Virtual Machine Ubuntu 14.4 LTS. Meaning is there a way to test a ROM before sending it to a device for flashing. Using the virtual machine to do the test run it self.
I dont think so... If you have one of those OTG cables, just copy zip to flashdrive and test it in multirom, so in case it wont work You'll be able to revert changes instantly

You would have to emulate a N5, which is not possible
Even using and SDK emulator? There are programs that emulate andriod on a PC platform.

The problem there is that such emulators can't boot ROMs for the real device.
I have an emulated 5x at my beck right now - it is running Oreo, in fact - and even includes Pixel Launcher. However, if I threw it at a real 5x, it would balk, because it's built on the Intel architecture, and requires HAXM to even run (which is not true of a real 5x), and thus would balk when confronted with same. I'm not saying that emulation is not a slick piece of work - it is, and I've said so multiple times. The emulated 5x is, if anything, far slicker than is supposed to be possible - first off, the real 5x is a quad-core ARM CPU, and the emulated version is running on a dual-core Intel Pentium G3258 (in short, it doesn't even have the virtual two extra cores of the Core i3 at its beck); however, it not only runs, it is, in fact, FASTER than MEMuPLAY - a purpose-built Android emulator for the Windows OS - which runs Lollipop. I chose it because it's a standard AVD that is included with the current version of Android Studio - no shens whatever. (It even includes the Play Store - so you can - literally - treat it as a real device otherwise; this is something that Google got seriously pounded over - and especially compared to Microsoft/Xamarin and Genymotion); if you happen to actually HAVE a 5x, you can import the AVD's configuration to it - just like you could that of a genuine 5x.
So I've been using Samsung dex, and I like it a lot for all its bugs, and it got me thinking about eventually having android as the main operating system for computers. I'm imagining a system where the "Dex like interface" is the whole OS, optimized for big screen use, with apps designed to run that way. It gives you the benefit of having the Play store, and all your regular apps, just.. big.
Then I started wondering if there would be any point at all, since we have OSes like linux and devices like chromebooks. And for tablets we can use Sentio to get a desktop experience.
I'm not going anywhere with this, just thinking about it and wanted to hear anyone's thoughts.
