I'm actually very impressed that you tried. :victory: Most users wouldn't have gone that far. I would suggest that you go to the themes and apps section, find a bootanimation thread and contact the OP and ask very nicely for help. The fact that you are willing to try to do this yourself is the spirit of XDA. I would imagine that the proper sizing of your image/images is important. Most developers will be willing to help someone learn to do it themselves. Good luck and keep trying!

Working on it now but on the first test all I get is a black screen. On test zip one the only change I made was in the desc.txt to change the resolution to 1440 2560. Now I'm going to play around with the desc.txt some more b4 I edit those 200+ images. OP (IMHO) try rereading the link that ends in 1852621. This is the one I used back in my S2 T989 days to make my own. I had to go through it a few times but with that and another desc.txt to study I finally got it. In my limited experience it's properly writing the desc.txt. I still refer it!
Got it!! Now all that's left is to adjust the fps and replace the 4 with a 6. The original fps was at 20 I have this at 45. Idk if there is something more technical but it looks slow. Gonna bump it up to 55 to see how it looks. Unfortunately its time to return to work. I'll post a link here when done. Hopefully I don't get home to late in the morning.

Its not final yet. There are some editing and trying to find the right fps. As of right now it works but the animation is slow ( not to my standard) . I'm just trying to help the op get it ported. When its up to par I'm sure he'll post it here. I'll pm you a link just as a teaser but please don't distribute it.

Hi! I'm trying to create my own boot animation myself. I'm getting this same black screens. How did you fix it? What size do the images need to be? The original is 832x520.
Resize all the images to 1440x2560 for portrait and 2560x1440 for landscape. The black screen could be because of the file structure of your zip. Assuming you use 7zip; right click on your bootanimation and select view archive. In the window that pops up you should only have the image folder(s) and the desc.txt. Make sure that when you create your zip that you select the image folder(s) and desc.txt nothing else. If your still getting a black screen pm it to me I'll look at it when I can.

This is what is supposed to happen... The apple flies in from the back, Then the android guy eats the apple, the screen turns white, then "android" fades in. This is not what happens. It is just jumbled up and confusing, and ends the right way. Can someone help me fix this. Problem Solved. I added an extra "0" in some of the *.png files. I have it fixed and I am uploading the good animaiton now. Check it out! I am going to call it, Eat an Apple a Day.

No. The easiest thing to do is assemble the individual .pngs into an animated gif that you can upload as a single animated pic. Or just record it with a video camera, upload it to youtube, and post a link.

Thanks, I think from now on I will compile the animation into a .gif. I am working on a new one that is a bit more complex, but it should look a lot smother as well. It is going to be megaman X themed.

Let's take advantage of this gorgeous screen and throw together some boot animations. Here are a few of my others that I've converted for our 540X960 display. The first thing you'll need to do is figure out where you're boot animation is and what it's called. You can figure this out a couple of ways, the easiest is just browsing the .zip of your ROM. You can also download a File Browser with root permission and look for it from your phone (you'll need a root file browser later anyway, I like Root Browser - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338582) A lot of the ROMs that are floating around right now, based on an ATT build anyway, are going to be located at /system/customize/resource/ and will be called ATT_bootanimation.zip - note: there will probably be a bootanimation.zip here too. If so, that's OK. Leave it alone - If you don't have an ATT_bootanimation.zip, but only a bootanimation.zip, that's it. If it's not there, check /data/local/ for bootanimation.zip. It could be in a number of places, if you have trouble, let me know what ROM you're running and I'll take a look. Once you've found the location and name of your bootanimation, you'll need to download your new boot animation, and rename it to exactly what your current animation is called. Now it's probably a good idea to back up your current animation just in case something goes wrong, and the easiest way to do that is to browse to it via your File Browser, and rename it with a .bak extension at the end. Now copy/paste the new bootanimation (already renamed) to this directory. Now long press the bootanimation and choose Permissions. Set permissions to RW/R/R. Reboot and Enjoy the animation. IF your bootanimation is called ATT_bootanimation.zip and it's located at /system/customize/resource/, you can download the "Flashable" zip at the end of this, and using 7zip (http://www.7-zip.org/download.html), you can add the downloaded bootanimation (which you've already renamed to ATT_bootanimation) to system/customize/resource/ in the .zip, delete the "placeholder" file, put it on your SD, then flash through recovery. DO NOT FLASH THE "Flashable.zip" BY ITSELF. THERE'S NOTHING IN IT TO FLASH. ADD YOUR ANIMATION TO /system/customize/resource/ FIRST (If this is not where your bootanimation is located and you want a flashable .zip, let me know where the bootanimation is located and what it's called, and I'll throw one together for you). Taking requests... (youtube videos, animated .gifs, or other bootanimations, please. I am NO graphic artist) If anyone wants to know how to make your own, I put together a how to for a fellow Inspire user, with links to the softwares I use. Only difference would be anywhere you see 480 or 800 you would need to substitute for 540 and 960 respectively.

They're actually not that difficult to do. I'll add this to the OP too, but here's a doc I made for someone else on the Inspire that goes over how I do it, with links to the softwares I use. Only difference would be anywhere you see 480 or 800 you would need to substitute for 540 and 960 respectively.

Haven't played much with boot sounds. Ran into some problems when the inspire started getting ics builds and haven't looked too closely since. Sounds like you might have gotten further than I've dug. I'll look a little deeper when I get some time...if I find anything ill let you know

Instructions in the first post still apply. Rename it to ATT_bootanimation.zip (or whatever your current animation is called), put in in the folder where your current bootanimation is, change permissions to match the other files in the folder, reboot. If your bootanimation is located at system/customize/resource/, then you can download flashable.zip from the first post, put ATT_bootanimation in system/customize/resource/ using WinRAR with store compression, flash in recovery.

I believe the originals are around 1440x1280 that one is 720x1280 so its missing around half of the picture.
all of the motomaker backgrounds were terrible.
I would have loved the option to simply have it arrive blank. It was a strange feeling having to select something I knew I would immediately get rid of. :laugh:

Well you shouldn't have to flash CM themes... Just use a boot animation installer app...

I have plenty of room, but the animation doesn't display. I see the LG logo until my launcher loads; it's the same problem I have when trying to create it myself (I've made several attempts).

Oh. I don't watch anime, I have college and work, and on top of that I make custom boot animations. Try to think of something else that'll be a little easier, like a simple logo that I can make explode and rebuild itself or a SMALL gif you like. I can make any logo cycle its colors through the rainbow... I made the UPS logo spin around...

Try placing it in /system/media.
Then try in /data/local.
See what happens.

No prob. How about creating an animation in which a bubble explodes and "Android" comes out of the explosion? Make it many bubbles floating around, and just before the boot happens let the text come out of the explosion. Get me?

I haven't seen much action lately for custom boot logos for our treasured OnePlus One, so I thought since I have some time on my hands I would offer to make a boot logo for anyone wanting one. I'm a graphic artist and enjoy doing these sort of things. The boot logos are installed by flashing the zip with TWRP, or your recovery of choice.
Just to be clear, these are not the boot animations, but rather the boot logo, the very first image you see when you power on. I will attach some samples, along with a flashable zip of the first image, to give you an idea of the possibilities.
If you'd like a custom logo that shows a family member, loved one, pet, favorite actor, or just text... pretty much whatever, you can reply in this thread and let me know what you'd like. Of course I'd need you to include an image file of your choice if it's a personal acquaintance of yours. Be specific as to what text you'd like, if any, and what color text. Any image file you provide would ideally be about 1080x1920, but that's not absolutely necessary. A larger size than that is much preferred over a small image size for best results. If you'd rather not post the image here in public, then you can always attach it in a PM to me.
I don't know if there will be any interest, because as I said, haven't seen much action regarding boot logos lately, but let's see what happens.
And for the record, these are offered absolutely free of charge. Not even a cup of coffee donation. My way of giving back to the community.

You can have anything you want on your boot logo. The provided zip file was only an example.
Please do a Witcher 3 theme (Geralt and Ciri)
Also, an 8 bit version of the same.

I'll see what I can come up with. An 8 bit version isn't going to look as good, however....

maybe the oneplus one logo in the middle, white or black if you wanna put the effort in, but portrait for sure lol

awesome! One other thought, perhaps for me later on or others looking, maybe also the default boot logo in different colors, in place of the white? just a thought

Good idea. Here is the original boot logo, in original colors for now. If anyone wants one in different colors, just let me know, otherwise I really could choose countless versions, in different colors.
