I've tried just about everything I could find on Google, but Odin refuses to go past "file analysis". I'm trying to flash JH2
Here's everything I've tried
1) Change USB port
2) Administrator mode and XP SP3 compatibility (i'm on w7 x64)
3) Re-partition checked/unchecked
4) Rebooted phone
5) rebooted computer
6) removed sim card and sd
What am I missing?
It's almost always the fact that you didn't have Odin up and running with all the info in ahead of time before you plug the phone in to the USB port.
Do all the Odin stuff first, then set the phone up for the download.
Agreed.
First if you are able to use a program like Droid Explorer then you are fine driver wise so Open Odin first then Press and Hold Volume up and down and while doing that plug the USB Cable into the phone and that should turn on the phone into downloading mode.
Yes, make sure you have odin open first. Then you can go into download mode and start. Easiest way I have to do it is this:
-Open odin
-plug phone into usb with USB debugging enabled
-open command prompt and get to the android-sdk-windows
-adb reboot download
That should work perfectly. Takes all the guess work of trying to get it into the download mode.

worked for me
Trying to use the odin one click for JI6.. stuck at file analysis again. Why are samsung firmwares updates such a pain? I've never had a problem with any of the HTC firmware updaters
This worked for me too!
Thanks. That worked for me as well.

I just created an account on XDA to tell you how INCREDIBLY grateful I am to you, because you just singlehandedly saved my phone. Thank you. Times a million.
I've jig-fixed my captivate into download mode and odin recognizes it. Even after plugging it in and after the .pit and .tar are qued, it still gets stuck on "file analysis.."
Worked for me too but...
All I had to do was
Close Odin3
Unplug my phone & pull the battery
Reopen Odin3
Then hold the volume up/down buttons while plugging in the usb cord
and then clicked start when it recognized my device.
I appreciate your help, you cleared my confusion!
Thanks!

Are you running ODIN in admin? Did you connect your phone to a rear usb port? Have you tried a different cable?
I've never seen Odin require administrative permissions. Installation of drivers, yes, but Odin and Heimdall do not require admininstrative permissions.
On my win 7 it wont ever work without admin.
I second that. But some people say its needed. I never had to.

You mean you want to exit download mode? Just long press power button and it will reboot normally unless you were trying to flash rom and it failed in between.
You can also remove battery

To my understanding the purpose on all of these is to just root your phone right ? using PC ODIN?
Well, All you have to do is just make sure you have downloaded correctly the tar file, and thru the 'PDA' button part, look for the NoteCore_HydraCore tar file and after that, 'Start Firmware'

Yes, that's the correct setup as shown in attached thumbnail, make sure you have proper drivers installed (install kies for that) and check if any antivirus is making any trouble.
I think i have proper drivers installed on my pc because i can connected my phone with kies. Is that we need tick on USB debugging on phone before root? The phone will not brick if rooting fail rite, only when fail on flashing rom the phone get chance become brick.

I Have always used odin with debugging enabled you can enable it to try. root failure should not brick your phone.
just make sure to completely exit kies and retry.
Once you are in download mode, usb debuggin have nothing to do.
Sort out your problem with connection to pc.
Watever it cud be, driver, sw,cable, usb port anything wrong can obstruct it.
Two main thing usually responsible is driver, so remove kies or anyother pc sync sw you have installed n just install driver
And connect to motherboard usb port(back of pc)
Anyway i never recommend flashing kernel with pc odin, when easy alternate avilble why you should raise your counter?
Remember triangle away is dangerous.tool and not to use as casual application.

Dear Forum,
I have a I9001. I've been busy with it for a week now and read and tried allot. Nothing seems to work!
So , my I9001 doesn't have a recovery any more. No root or CWM. The rom works (2.3.5) but crashes or freezes. Then tried every
combo in the book to get into the recovery mode but nothing works.
So I ask you biggest android forum of the world: What the hell is going on??
Tried to get into recovery by recovery boot by pc, tried installing other roms or kernels or whatever.
Also getting a mmc boot mbr read failed when trying above stuff by odin.
Also when I shutdown the phone and I start it up again then it has to be installed again like country and date etc etc...
Thanks in forward for answering.
Greetz,
Happybeat
But download mode still working? Then you could try to flash the recovery via Odin again or a stock Rom, AFAIK those contain the stock recovery as well so afterwards you'll have a "fresh" installed phone... Might work, no other ideas...

Ok...this is strange...I just connected it to my pc and have access to it...but when I deleted something what was in download it says delete permant I say yes...when I restart it and connect it back to the pc and go to download its back??
Sorry don't know any solution but I'm quite new in here so maybe you can post it into/revive this thread because the Q&A is (in my opinion) not well visited by I9001 users because it's meant to be for i9000.

Yep did that. Doesnt work. The thing is also that I cant change anything. Everytime when I reboot I need to install again. So it doesnt remember. Same when I connect it to the pc and I remove a file from download that I do not need it doesn't remove the file because the next time I reboot its back. It's like the internal is locked?
I can't find a good page with an explanation, so I'll just type it out myself. If anything isn't clear, ask!
You can try getting into recovery mode using the Android SDK, maybe that could work...
Install the latest version of Samsung Kies if you haven't already (for the USB driver)
Install the Android SDK (http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html) You'll need just the SDK, everything else is useless for this
Open a command prompt and go to the directory where you have installed the Android SDK (basically you'll run the command cd "<folder>", where folder is something like "C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk")
Start your phone and go to Settings > Applications > Development
Enable USB debugging (if it's not there, just find that option and enable it )
Connect your phone using a USB cable
Go back to your command prompt and run the command tools\adb reboot recovery
Hopefully your phone will boot in recovery mode
Good luck!

Ok so thank you for this but unfortunatly it just didnt work. I think it is dead. Does Jtagg do any difference? Like hook it up to that machine?
So what it does at this moment:
It starts up but everytime you start up it will ask you to install everything again. So it asks what country etc.etc...
When I am in it appears to work but starting apps just makes it all crash or freeze.
Im a bit lost at the moment to do anything. It just looks that it doesnt memorize.
I can hook it up to the pc but you cant remove or add anything. You can just look and scroll through it.
Hello.
I recently installed CM10.1.3 on my GT-I9000 running stock GB. I did everything according to the instructions (though, mind you, this was not my first time installing a ROM just the first time on this device).
When I booted and tried to set up a CM account it gave me a message saying "Insert SIM card". I tried installing the kernel again, as well as installing other ROMs (AOKP mostly).
Nothing seems to work. It will simply not recognize my SIM.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

you can try taking it back to stock ROM , you can follow this but it sounds like you may have hardware problem, if that fails as sim contacts can get broken or damaged too and can be replaced. so best to test with Stock ROM to check if its a software or hardware problem. also try to flash without SIM card and insert after flashing and first boot.

For a clean install and root, flash JVU ROM and its CF_root, as it is easy and problem free. I never had any problem with JVU
The whole procedure is given below
FLASHING JVU ROM WITH ODIN v1.85:
1. Install USB drivers for i9000 on PC (ignore if already installed) and restart computer to take effect
2. Turn off your phone and put it in download mode
by holding VOL DOWN+MENU+POWER
Do you get the Yellow Triangle?..If so
continue..if not do it again...
3. Plug in Phone with USB Cable To Computer.
4. In ID:COM it should go yellow and you should see
ADDED in the message box
5. Check Re-Partition option and then Click PIT
button to select: s1_odin_20100xxx.pit file.
6. Click PDA button and select :
CODE_I9000XXJVU_xxxxx.tar
7. Click PHONE button and select:
MODEM_I9000XXJVU_xxxxx.tar
8. Click CSC button and select:
GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVU.tar
9. When you have all the files needed in ODIN,
Click Start and let it Run
10. Once complete you will see S logo on phone
(computer will make a few noises like connect/
disconnecting
11.Unplug the Cable to the Phone
You will see your phone working excellent. Now it's time for rooting
Procedure for rooting:
1. Power Off Phone
2. Download CF-Root kernel first.
Unzip the file to a folder. You
will get the .tar file – CF-Root-
XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS.tar
— inside the extracted folder. DO NOT extract
the .tar file (even if you see it as a zip
file, which it is not). You need to flash
the .tar file using Odin to gain root
access and install the ClockworkMod
Recovery (CWM) alongside. If you’re
getting zimage file, it means you’ve
extracted the .tar file too! — and that’s
not a right thing to do.
3. Boot your phone in Download Mode —
Press and hold volume down+HOME
+POWER keys together.
4. Open Odin now. Connect your phone to PC now. You’ll notice “Added! !” message in the Odin’s message box in the bottom left.
5. On Odin, click the PDA tab and select the .tar file you got in step 2 — CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-
CWM3RFS.tar
6. Make sure “Re-Partition” checkbox is not selected. Leave the “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” checkboxes selected.
7. Click the Start button on Odin to flash the CF-Root kernel. After the CF Root is installed, phone will restart automatically. When you see the PASS written in top left box, you can remove the cable.
8. Your phone is rooted now. That surperuser app is there! The CWM app is also there, and
clockworkmod based recovery has
been installed too. Now you enter the custom ROM world without worries. Enjoy!

I assume you have a software issue, that's why I asked you to revert to Stock ROM after you confirmed the SIM card was not inserted the wrong way round. , only IF the sock ROM also gave you that result than you need to consider hardware, as I have not heard of anyone having this issue after flashing CM 10.
AS for PIT file its in 4Shared site, all they would require is you should be a member and register with them ( you can do that with any name and password) the ROM site is FileRio, there you should only use free download button , clicked a number of times ( same button) for download to begin, both uploads were by me, so its virus free. I will upload pit file to the thread asap as its very small file.
EDIT: already uploaded PIT File to thread uploaded 3 PIT files in a package used for i9000, only use 512

the guide to solve such problems is right on top (begining) of that thread
Note:- It's assumed that you can and know how to connect your Phone to PC with USB cable . If you do not know, first install Samsung USB drivers on your PC/Laptop, than enable USB debugging on your phone by settings menu>Developer options> tick USB Debugging. After this use only Samsung USB cable and plug it into your phone micro USB port and to your PC USB Port. ( Always use the Back USB port on PC as some ports may not connect well enough for flashing ROM's. )
If unable to connect your phone to PC for any reason, refer to this guide

I tried everything in that guide, and it still the same.
Might be worth noting that the computer totally does recognize the device. I mean, I can access the internal SD from the computer, when the phone is on. It's just that when I connect it in download mode, Odin doesn't respond.
Might also be worth to stress that I used Heimdall to flash the recovery, when I did it. Could it be related to why I can't use Odin now?
And another thing regarding my main issue - could the "Insert SIM" message be a modem thing?
The password for XXJVU is samfirmware.com
If you are still unable to open this, then download XXJVU by Google searching and then try. This is the best way to get rid of the problem.
If you are able to go to download mode, install USB drivers for Samsung and restart PC . Now exit the Kies program and its related services from your PC. If you are using windows, you may find the tray icon and exit by right clicking. Now run Odin and flash.
If you are not able to go to download mode then search "homemade usb jig" and use the jig method described in those threads.
I'm trying to download the XXJVU again. Will see how goes.
I am able to go to download mode. So that's not it. I also don't have Kies installed on my computer, so that's also not it. I installed a few different Samsung drivers, and did the whole process a few times. The computer always recognizes the phone, but Odin doesn't.
I don't get why I can't delete stuff, if I accidentally posted twice. Anyway - feel free to disregard this one. Sorry for spamming..
OK. Managed to open the XXJVU.
Still have the problem with Odin not paying attention to my phone being there. Do you think it might be a problem with dl mode, that I should try fix with a jig (the phone does act LIKE it in dl mode - yellow triangle and all...)?

You seem to be having strange problems. I assume you pressed the correct combo keys ( as shown in image on that thread) and you did not get download mode ( this could be due to ) you don't have an i9000 but a different version of Galaxy S? or your keys are not functioning or you have a wrong bootloader
so use this methods & tool from PC to boot into download mode after you are sure you have an i9000 international version by checking under the battery. just to give you an idea , read this
Odin will only connect when phone is in Download mode, so as you mentioned you have NO problem with drivers and PC, its only your phone not being able to enter download mode.
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.

You assume correctly - I did use the correct combo. And the battery says I have an GT-I9000. I think that's only the int'l version, isn't it?

I will try the ADB solution tomorrow. But doesn't the fact that the phone displays the download mode screen say that it is indeed in that mode? (because it does display it, as I mentioned above). I mean - is it possible that the phone seems like it is in download mode, when it's actually not?
Thanks!

hmm, i got the impression that you are not getting the download mode display , if it does than it is in download mode, so now you need to check your Odin3 download, what version are you using , try and download again and always use fresh Odin3, meaning, if it had a problem or even when no problem restart it a fresh. And best install Samsung USB drivers again ( link on that thread), if that did not solve it.
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.
I tried both versions that from here (i.e. v1.83 and v1.85). I'm not really doing anything else with Odin, so there's nothing to restart.
I also tried uninstalling and installing the drivers a few times, using a few different installation files, and by letting windows figure out on its own which drivers to install.
Non of it changed the result.

this is weird, anyway since heimdall is possible, right? try and download a heimdall rescue kit from MY Android collections and try flashing , if the phone boots you can also install Mobile Odin from playstore to flash stock ROM too.
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.
Ok. So rooted my Note 3 in Oct and ROMd in Jan with XNote 7. I had it all fine and everything since. Well, I upgraded to XNote 12 and realized I couldn't receive calls and a few other weird annoying bugs. So I attempted to downgrade back to MJ5 using the Restore tutorial in the General section.
Alright, well I did the whole tutorial I Heimdalled the MI9_Fix.img.ext4 file and then started flashing the ZIPs. I did the SEC_CSC then I tried the 2400845 and it failed with a message about system/vender/lib.camerafilter.whatever.so couldn't be found and quit. I figured it was normal so and now I'm stuck at the Samsung logo with a padlock. It will go into recovery and Odin mode fine.
It also deleted my Safestrap. So I cannot get into SS recovery. I have tried the tutorial again and now Heimdall quits with error 87 and something about a I/O error.
I have also tried to Odin the MJ5 stock flash files (AP, BL, CP and PIT) but it does nothing. I cannot install a ROM and cannot use my phone.
I desperately need my phone for work, so if someone can help me out ASAP, so I don't lose my job, I would be SO grateful! THANK YOU!!!!

do the procedure again and follow it to the letter as i can see you can still get to dl mode, btw you're supposed to flash the sec_csc and 240058 AFTER you flash the system.img with heimdall.

I can do the ODIN part, then when I try the Heimdall part, it comes up with an error. I have tried it 5 times over. To a T... : (
And yes, I know you flash those BEFORE. That's what I meant to say, but I was in a rush...
Im in a similar pickle but my problem is that I need a way to get those files to the SD card because the thing is bricked. I can't copy the files to a bricked phone and every device in my house refuses to read the micro SD card.

That's the problem right there. Over in my thread about the kitkat update fix people are saying it's not working for them but they are missing steps because they're not reading everything. I've used that method 3 times so far and it worked all 3 times. Start from the beginning. Delete all the files from previous attemtps, go to step 1, read everything, you will get it.

Again, I have done this 5 times. No joke. I have redownloaded everything 3 times.
1) Download and install Heimdall from here for windows. You'll need this and this to avoid missing .dll file errors
2) Download the following files;
MI9_fix.img.ext4
https://mega.co.nz/#F!icMTnSQY!bMBNFmUnn2_K8olSTYpwIA (mirror provided by drakeymcmb)
sec_csc.zip
rldv.zip
2400258.zip
Put everything except for the system.img on your external SD card
3) Download and install the MJ5 partions. Use Odin to flash these files (match the file names with the different upload slots)
AP_N900AUCUBMJ5.zip
BL_N900AUCUBMJ5.zip
CP_N900AUCUBMJ5.zip
HLTE_USA_ATT_32G.pit
4) Now is the time to use Heimdall.
Reboot into Download Mode once Odin finishes.
Install the vcredist packages downloaded from step 1.
unzip the heimdall .zip file to c:/
go to c:/Heimdall Suite/Drivers and click on zadig.exe
click the middle menu button to select "Show All Devices"
from the dropdown, select MSM8960
click the "install driver" button.
you should see a success message
5) Navigate on your computer to c:/Heimdall Suite/ and open heimdall-frontend.exe.
IMPORTANT -- Go to the Utilities tab and click the "Detect" button
Go to the Flash tab on Heimdall, click Browse and select the HLTE_USA_ATT_32G.pit file downloaded from step 3
Click the 'add' button, then next to 'partition name' select system from the dropdown.
click the Browse button underneath the dropdown, and select the MI9_fix.img.ext4 image you downloaded from step 2.
6) Click Start. ***I usually check the 'No Reboot' box to prepare for booting into recovery
THIS IS WHERE I CAN NO LONGER GO ANY FURTHER!!! IT SPITS A I/O ERROR 87 AT THIS POINT! I CANNOT GET AROUND THIS! THIS IS WHAT I NEED HELP WITH!
7) Heimdall and your Note will report a bad flash at around 95% -- but don't worry -- your system.img got uploaded Reboot directly into recovery mode.
8) Once in recovery, select "Choose update from external" in the recovery, and select the sec_csc.zip you downloaded earlier (did you remember to put that file on your external SD card?). This will install the CSC files and run the preload checkin so you don't FC all over the place
9) IMPORTANT--After flashing the sec_csc, the Note will reboot.
Try to catch it in time to reboot BACK into recovery
Once in recovery, select "Choose update from external" in the recovery, and select the 2400258.zip you downloaded earlier.
This will give you a stock MJ5 system. You can choose to stop here if you don't want to root.
10) Extract rldv.zip to the root of your internal sdcard (NOTE **my script removes Knox apps). Reboot, then once SuperSu installs, Reboot again.
This leaves you with a rooted MJ5 device.

Yes. And everytime I try this again I have to delete and revert drivers, because ODIN won't see it afterwards. X_X
The drivers named "WinUSB 6.1.7600"

Switch usb ports, switch usb cables, switch computers if possible.
Are you on an administrator account for windows?

I will try this. I am on a ASUS G75 with Win 7 Ultimate X64 via USB 2.0 not USB 3.0. The account I am using is the Administrator. I'm also going to try and run Heimdall as Admin. I'll report back in about 10 mins.

If that doesn't work try this...
fire up zadig, connect phone while in download mode, install the driver for msm8960, fire up heimdall frontend, go to utilities tab, hit detect button, and then go to flash screen and check no reboot, then start...
I also did mine with usb 3.0 and it worked fine so I don't think that matters. Using the stock cable also.
I was in the same boat. I had to switch computers and it worked first time. Both of them were windows 8.1 btw.

Did you try changing ports for heimdall? Sounds like its not recognizing your n3, had that problem before too where after odin'ing the mj5 files heimdall wouldnt see my phone. Did a reboot on my laptop and changed ports had 7 different 2.0 cables. Just keep trying did this 5 times already and always had the same result.

So is there no way to mount the card so that I can copy these files if I am bricked?

Did this every single time. I also have tried all 4 USB ports. This program (Heimdall) worked the first time no problem. That's the weird part... The second and on time all is a no go.
I have attached pictures. 3.jpg is Heimdall with the error.
Have you tried rebooting your g75? Also make sure you're not running any anti malware antivirus firewall etc.

Dumb question but did you click on replace driver on the second picture you posted? The winusb driver is the one you need for heimdall frontend to detect your phone.

Yes. I actually powered down the machine completely, removed the charger and battery, let it sit for 5 mins and retried.
Also, yes I did. That was before I did click replace tho. Good eyes. ^__^
{[EDIT]}
Does anyone have any input on the Hard Brick recovery method? The unbrick.img method? I tried it with (what I think was MJ5, but not 100% sure) a 64GB class10 UHS-1 Lexar MicroSD Card. I booted into download mode and nothing. Not sure if I did that wrong, or if the card isn't compatible, or the IMG isn't correct (anyone have any links to the unbrick.img for MJ5?)...

Well it's not bricked because you can boot into download and recovery mode. It sounds like it's just a driver issue with heimdall.

I'm going to try my girls computer tomorrow after work. See if her crappy Toshiba can do any better.
My Phone is DEAD
I was talking on my phone yesterday and it just shut off and hasn't been back on since. It is not responding to anything i try. Power + Vol down + Home. When i plug it up, there is no sounds or vibration no response. The phone is in a permanent off state. Any thought or suggestion on how to repair. I did the OTA update last week SM-N900A.
