[Q] Alternate ROM vs Stock? - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have finished rooting my phone (XT1097) and now I'm looking at changing ROMs but before I do, I want to know what benefits there are of CM 12.1 (or another ROM) over the stock retail (Wind Mobile) ROM. There isn't much bloat on my phone and what's there is providing benefits (okay, maybe not spotlight). What would you say is the biggest benefit of removing the stock rom (now that it's rooted) and replacing it with [ROM OF YOUR CHOICE]? This assumes I get the stock 5.1 ROM soon.

More features, nice little additions. Some cases there may be better performance and battery life. I suggest you try everything and see what works for you best

[Q] Best ROM in terms of performance?

Could anyone give me suggestions and advice as to what the best ROM would be for our devices, in terms of speed.. just like MERE (Most Epic Rom Ever). As I'm planning to downgrade to either 4.2 or 4.3, as I am pretty much disappointed with Kitkat.. for now. Thanks! Im running on Android Kitkat 4.4.2 Pre-rooted

[Q] Stable rom

No, I am not asking for the best rom. I am going to give this phone to a family relative of mine as I have the z ultra.
I would like to strap a error/bug free rom, should I go straight to stock rom? The most irritating issue I have had with CM based roms is that the phone suddenly did not recognize the SIM and the user had to unlock the sim. A huge issue for me and a big no no.
Any alternatives to stock rom?
As far as I remember stock rom ,rooted ,is the best experience for this phone.
CM 10.1.3 Stable 4.2.2 release.
i'd recommend stock rom, or stock-based debloated rom like zaiben. good luck :good:

Can't we mod the stock 5.1 ROM for better performance

I know that this is a ridiculous request since all of you are contributing here without any gains, and no body can demand something to be done for free!
But, I was wondering, with so much development going on over CM based ROMs for Moto X, why is there no ROM that is being developed by changing the stock rom?
I guess it is because the source for the stock ROM is unavailable, but wouldn't there be other ways to mod the ROM? I want to know this because I feel the performance of ROMs available here (on Moto X Development forum) is far better than the stock ROM. However, I love the active display and Moto Voice features of stock.
I tried using xposed and got most of the features (IME keys,RAM bar, lockscreen mods, clear all in recents, etc.) on stock 5.1, but my phone is too slow, compared to from when I was using Carbon/AICP/Resurrection ROMs (Thanks to those devs again).
Once the sources are available for 5.1 modding will happen.
5.1 was just released be patient but if you want a modded rom with stock features, try eclipse 4.4.4

Good ROM for x 2013?

I rooted my unlocked the bootloader/rooted my phone back in April but I'm looking to try a ROM for the first time. I've been looking around but I wanted to see what people here are using.
Basically what I'm hoping for in the rom
Moto display (if possible)
xposed compatible
no major bugs
better battery life/stable
Stock KitKat it is.
I am currently using the Cyanogenmod 12.1 and it's running fine with no major bugs. It has moto display, I have successfully installed xposed but I have no use for it, also the battery life running the latest nightly is quite poor imo. Would recommend using it though.
here's the link to that : http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/development/rom-cyanogenmod-12-moto-x-t2995381

What kind of ROM are you using?

Hi to all.
Just out of curiosity, what kind of rom are you using in this old and beloved tablet?
I was having a lot of problems with stock (debloated by myself) and recently installed and now testing Unofficial Lineage (SM T-700). Hope it goes well.
And you?
Is it full stock? Debloated stock variant? Aosp based? Other?
Thanks for your replies.
I'm going back to Simpler Stock for my T700. I have been on lineage, but some little quirks with apps are just a bit annoying.
Still on stock for my 2 T800's, I only use them nowadays for song lists on stage and stock is quite adequate. If Pie comes along I may change if better battery life is on offer.
