Hello, I'm running on a T-Mobile Moto X rooted with an unlocked bootloader, running 4.4.4. I usually use wireless hotspot on a daily basis with my tablet and laptop (which is allowed according to my T-mobile plan), but last week my wireless hotspot stopped functioning (I turn it on and it eventually stays checked, but I never receive the notification that the hotspot mode is on, and it's not visible). I ended up using bluetooth tethering for the past week, which worked until this morning where now the bluetooth tethering no longer works. USB tethering currently works with the laptop but I'm wondering how long that will now last.
So, I've tried erasing the cache and dalvik cache, but have had no luck. I am wondering if maybe the system files became corrupt somehow, so I was wondering what the procedure would be to reload or reflash these. Does anyone have any ideas or could help? Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Thanks in advance.

Been having horrible troubles with my bionic since the update. Not that it was stellar before it, would drop data often, but it was better then now. After the update the phone randomly reboots while on calls and the tethering app fails often. I have to power cycle phone to get it to work again. Since I'm paying for the tethering feature I'd like it to work.
Well I had only rooted my device and flash Bigndad's theme on my device. That was it. I had flashed the restore to the theme that was in the thread. But I think it was missing stuff cause i failed the update calling out various things that the theme re-skinned. Nothing I had edited or touched on my own. So I replaced the "bad" files and updated. It passed and updated, however, my phone sucked badly. Tethering was really hit or miss. And random rebooting while on calls SUCK.
So I did a factory reset last night at work. Still tether wouldn't function right, even with nothing else installed. So I used r3l3ased and forever root to restore me back to stock OS the phone came with and rerooted. Now my system should be perfect and working with no issues. I did the update fine this time. No hiccups. However...tether is still broken and hit or miss at best. Seems to stop working randomly and I still have to reboot phone to get it to work and now my wifi on the device will not connect at all to my home network and it worked fine before the flash. Just will refuse to connect. Sees network but can't authenticate.
What is left for me to do? Honestly? Is there a red lite or fastboot flashable file of the current updated OS that works that i can just flash over mine and hope it fixes the issues? Getting frustrated. I can kinda deal with no wifi since I have unlimited data but would prefer to use wifi at home. And i pay for the tether. I need it to work. Don't get why it is so flakey.
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Humor is always appreciated. ;-)

Hello,
I have both PDAnet and the Foxfi key that I purchased last month when I first received my Moto X. Up until now it has worked excellent (aside from only being able to tether via USB). I really never used tethering that much as I have an internet subscription for my home. Fast Forward to today I needed to use it. I entered USB debugging on my phone as usual plugged in the usb cord clicked connect on the PDAnet in the icon tray and it would rapidly go from connected to reconnecting about every second. I've tried reinstalling both apps, soft reset, hard reset. Uninstalled PDAnet on the computer and reinstalled. Nothing is working. It no longer shows that it's trying to reconnect. Now it simply connects and then disconnects in about 5 seconds. Does anyone know of any recent updates to the Moto X, android, pdanet that might be causing this?
I don't know if it's relevant but I spoke with Verizon about a week ago to upgrade my minutes and the lady was locked out of my account because my phone was still pending activation even though I had been using my moto x for over a month. Apparently the activation doesn't always go through so they activated a "hotline" or something on the my phone to push it through. Could they have seen I've been using PDAnet and done something to my account/phone to prevent me, or is that not possible?
If anyone can lead me to the solution for this I will send $20
Thanks,
GaB

PDAnet is working fine for me. I'm connected through it right now. I've used it for years from my office because of company restrictions on web traffic and haven't had any real issues.
Did you recently upgrade to 4.4? Neither app works on 4.4.
PDANet+ works fine on 4.4. If you don't have the paid (full unlocked) version, it will disconnect in less than a minute. The FoxFi part of PDANet+ no longer works in 4.4 for wifi hotspot. I am USB tethering everyday most of the day using PDANet...right now in fact. Make sure you are using the most current version in Windows and on your phone. Get the installer from http://pdanet.co/ again, you will need the paid version to not lose connection.
This isn't a major issue, but I don't seem to be able to connect to a college's WPA2-PSK network. I can establish a connection, but I'm never able to access the Internet. I've gone through the login page, and yet it refuses to work properly. I didn't have any trouble connecting on my Nexus 7 and laptop, yet my MotoX has trouble.
I just recently upgraded to 4.4.2, using the Safestrap method. I'm obviously rooted. I can't think of any apps installed on my phone that aren't installed on my tablet that could be causing this issue. I don't know if its a 4.4.2 issue, because my GF has a MotoX (AT&T) and she's on 4.4, and has been connecting fine for months. I upgraded to 4.4.2 just two days ago... And this is the first time I've tried connecting to this type of network.
Any ideas? I appreciate any and all help.

Just some general troubleshooting thoughts:
1. Try logging in using different browsers. may help.
2. How exactly did you upgrade? Did you clean flash? Did you leave the data intact to keep you apps and app data?
3. Did you restore with Titanium Backup?
Lastly, what kind of WiFi network is it?, what do you mean "this type of network..."? does internet work at all? and if you're signing in with her account they could be limiting the amount of devices signed in.
Anyone else having trouble connecting to Motorola Connect? It hasn't worked in a few days for me. My Chrome is up to date. I've tried installing and uninstalling. I've got a rooted Verizon Moto Maker edition on 4.4.
After 444 tonight I had huge issue tried everything... Then I turned off Wi-Fi and let it sync using Mobile data and that worked. Turned Wi-Fi back in and it still works.... Funny don't know why that worked but try and see if that helps

I've been having problems with MotoConnect for the last couple of weeks. It will open fine and then the plugin will crash or I get several messages about not being able to communicate with the Motorola servers. As the above poster mentioned, sometimes if all else fails turn off the WIFI and see if it will connect with mobile data, assuming, of course, you can get a cellular signal where your at.
Hello,
today I was playing some games on my Moto X when, as I closed one, I noticed that internet wasn't available via Wi-Fi. At the time I had 6.0 without root, upgraded from 5.0 stock via OTA. I tried turning the Wi-Fi off and on again, airplane mode on and off, rebooting the phone, rebooting into safe mode, forgetting and re-adding the access points, disabling the hotspot discovery, none of these things worked.
So I tried to flash 5.0 stock again, correctly (checked the model, the version -it's a XT1092 reteu-, everything, it's all right), but still the phone can't browse the internet via Wi-Fi. I've even tried running the safe mode over the fresh flashed stock, no results.
My bootloader is unlocked so I'd prefer not to hand it to Motorola. It sounds like an hardware issue (never dropped my phone, no scratches, no weird shakes, it's perfect) but since I have time till at least monday, I'd like if anyone from here could help me solve this issue.
Many thanks in advance.
EDIT: Solved. It actually was an issue with the modem: two devices were using that IP, apparently. The thing is no new devices entered my home and everything I use is set on static IP (except for the phone, I had it restored a couple of weeks ago so I forgot to set its). It's still unclear what actually happened but it looks ok now. Don't close the thread, just in case something new comes up.
I am having the same issue on my XT1097 on Android 6.0 but only on my Office WiFi. Would you care to exaplain (in a dumbed down way) what you did?
Thanks!
