[Q] Can I save my phone? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey xda-developers, can you please help me save my phone from the dead?
I have a HTC One M7_UL PVT SHIP S-OFF RH phone.
It's LOCKED thanks to HTC1Guru reset (which I'm part way through)
S-OFF is paid to Sunshine
I'm no longer in position to give you any numbers on anything but:
CID: HTC__001
HBOOT_ 1.44.0000
Radio: 4T.29.3218.08
OpenDSP: v32.120.274.0909
eMMC-boot
These numbers may or may not be stock, I've changed CID a couple of times before.
My big problem is that I failed a RUU-flash as the device started automatically after the preflash and I missed to run the command immediately.
I can only boot into HBOOT, FASTBOOT and RECOVERY(TWRP-v2.8.0 - red flag).
I left the fastboot option in my phone off last time I did any modding with it, so I can not connect fastboot to my PC. The common <waiting for device> showing. Only fix is to change the settings in the phone.
I am able to do the old UPDATE.ZIP method by mounting my phone with MTP in RECOVERY-mode. But I don't know and could not find any guide form my phone. I've never been able to get adb sideload working but adb push is just enough.
I have a backup, I think before I did S-OFF, and all my files is accessible if I cared more about them. (Most things are stored in clouds anyway and settings are easily adjusted on the go.)
I didn't read up to much, but I really hope there is a way to save my phone so it can help me with school and other things. (I have all my calenders and alarms telling me what to do.)

You need to unlock the bootloader again to get started.

Slight problem.

I can't change it as I can't connect to fastboot from my PC . My PC is Windows 8.
I've tried with Windows 7 laptop without success.

as you are now on HBOOT 1.44 you MUST USE A windows 7, XP or Linux distro for the computer to see your phone, anything 8 / 8.1 or 10 doesn't work.

Thanks, I have a Windows 7 laptop that I could just send the files over.
But isn't it strange that I could use adb on a Windows 8?
Edit: I could not get my Win7 Lap to see adb or fastboot. I did install drivers manually first with adb's drivers then I also tried some universal Andriod drivers (uninstalled in between)

Backup Restored
I had a backup in my disposal, but the problem from orgin is that I've uninstalled HTC Sense launcher but I take that in another thread.
Rule #1: Always make backups.

[Q] Trying to Unroot [Problems]

I am trying to unroot my HTC One but keep running into various issues. My phone is rooted, S-On, TWRP, Hboot 1.44.0000
I have tried Moonshine and RumRunner and got the same issue where it told me to fix it (followed every step, have Win drivers and Sync Mgr uninstalled)
Tried the revone method displayed here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314582) and each time I get to the step "./revone -l(-s 0)" I get the error "...Segmentation Fault (Core Dumped) 139 :[email protected]:/data/local/tmp $"
I am running the stock rom (received at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2348502)
Any thoughts or ideas? I am at my wit's end. It seems everything I try with this phone lends to an error. Friend said I might not have SuperUser. Don't know why I wouldn't. But if that's the case, how do I get SuperUser when I'm rooted and S-On?

While trying Rumrunner I get to the step where I type "fastboot devices" in my cmd window and it never pulls anything up. Running windows 8 with all drivers properly installed/updated. Fastboot devices recognizes myphone on my mac, but I haven't seen a revone for Mac. On the PC, adb devices yields my sn, but not fastboot devices. Am I doing something wrong? Using factory installed cable, HTC Sync Manager is uninstalled (drivers remain) Fastboot is unchecked while USB Debug is checked, rebooted phone into bootloader and selected fastboot to make sure computer identifies it (phone DOES say Fastboot USB).

i thought you were on hboot 1.44, but patched, so you needed the link i posted earlier to downgrade, then use revone to get s-off
I gotcha. My apologies. Trying that now.

Revone runs on your phone, not your PC. How you get it into your phone doesn't matter, you just need to run it. You can run it from your phone in a terminal if you wish.

If you have problems use this ROM:
Android_Revolution_HD-One_9.4.zip 970.8 MB (credit to @mike1986.)

Prerequisites:
hboot 1.44 (pre June 2013)
firmware 1.xx
revone should work just fine from first go (confirmed from 15, and still counting)
you can either use it through "adb shell" or through a terminal on your phone

Oh that's the first I've heard about running revone straight from your phone. Every single thread I've seen about revone states using a pc and the sequence:
cd sdk/platform-tools
adb push revone /data/local/tmp/
adb shell
su
cd /data/local/tmp
chmod 755 revone
./revone -P
But I always get stuck on "./revone -P" with error code = -6.
I tried downgrading the Hboot but wether in CWM or TWRP, when I pu tthe Nandroid in the CWM/TWRP>Backups folder then reboot to recovery and try to restore from the nandroid, the recovery can't find the file. I made sure the zip was extracted.
Ok so now you're saying I can run revone FROM the phone? Can you please be as detailed as possible about this? Where on my phone exactly does it need to be? How do I run the program? Bootloader? Recovery? What exact steps? I am at my absolute wits end trying to get back to factory fresh. I seem to always run into some kind of error despite any method attempted.

revone won't work on the patched hboot, you need to downgrade first.
the TWRP backups are usually stored in
/data/media/TWRP/BACKUPS/<device serial number/
or
/data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/<device serial number/
best way to find the location is to make a backup in TWRP of something small (eg only select boot & recovery) that only takes a second, then you can see where the backups are stored and put the one needed to downgrade there.
Fixed my issue. Ended up using a relative's Windows 7, Ran Fastboot OEM Lock, then ran the RUU now I'm good as new.
Bootloader now reads:
***Relocked***
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT-1.55.0000
RADIO-4A. 19. 3263.13
OpenDSP-v31.120.274.0617
OS-3.17.502.3
eMMC-boot 2048MB
Sep 10 2013, 01:32:23.0
Based on this, should I need to send it in, will AT&T have a problem?

Did I miss something I thought you were trying to get S-Off first
And I don't know about AT&T policies, but RELOCKED, definitely tells them you unlocked it. If you need to go back to 100% stock, you can check my guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541082
and going S-ON (in the guide) is strictly YOUR choice.

[Q] flash RUU...but no device.

Hi all,
Changed from Samsung S2 to HTC one and installed custom ROM. My kid pulled the USB cable in the middle of something and after that I was stuck in boot. Trying to flash an RUU I re-locked the phone and now I am stuck there. I really tried to find the answer in other threads and it feels I am close (to knowing either how to solve this or get to know it is impossible), but I am not quite there:
Situation:
Tampered-relocked-security warning (comes and goes strangely enough)
S-On
HBOOT 1.44
eMMC-boot
May 3, 2013
Fastboot USB
Problem: whatever I try to do, my PC says there is no device. I installed HTC sync manager but it can not find my phone. It was in USB debugging before the loop....and now I do not know what to do.
Any suggestions for not making 2014 my worst phone-starting year ever....?

yeah we can get you their - Uninstall HTC Sync manager but leave the drivers (it will ask during uninstall)
the date in the bootloader indicates Revone should work to s-off your phone as I can see your on hboot 1.44
Try to get s-off >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314582
while your reading Download this
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu-zip...0-01_release_318486_signed_2_4_decrypted-zip/
next step is this from @nkk71
Step 2: Flash your RUU.zip
Download your MID & CID compatible RUU.zip
Rename the downloaded file to ruu.zip (careful about ruu.zip.zip in Windows)
In bootloader/FASTBOOT USB, flash it:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip <- yes TWICE, the first one will report “failed flush again”, the second one will succeed.
fastboot reboot-bootloader

Again, thanks for replying.
I uninstalled HTC Sync manager but it never asked about the drivers (I only got install/repair/uninstall) so everything was deleted. I reinstalled.
Nevertheless, trying to push revone I simply got the message "error:device not found". I guess /data/local/tmp/ is the correct dir for my device, or can this be different on different machines somehow?
I am still downloading the ROM, hoping for help.....d/l takes a looong time so don´t hurry

strange, i always install sync manager, then go back to Control Panel -> Uninstall -> HTC Sync Manager
HTC Drivers stay just fine.
You can use those:
HTCDriver_4.8.0.002.exe 15.1 MB
https://mega.co.nz/#!TAcGAJ7L!YdWM4AIji95b1ow8kVgagggOx5Yh7csRN5G0KJaCo6w
you have to get adb working; you can check by typing "adb devices" either in custom recovery or booted-up ROM (USB debugging enabled), it should show your device serial number.

Sorry for being stupid but will the ROM make my HTC S-Off (as the heading implies) or work with the current S-ON?
I still don´t understand how I am to flash it to my device when everything I do (except getvar) says "device not found". But I will try and might get out of this mess a little bit smarter than I was before.
Thanks!

1- No, the ROM will not make you S-Off, but it's proven to be very compatible with revone
2- you install that using custom recovery (CWM or TWRP)
3- you'll still have to use the revone commands as mentioned in their thread
4- adb vs fastboot:
"fastboot devices" <- works in bootloader screen ONLY (the white screen)
"adb devices" <- works in a booted up ROM (with USB debugging enabled) or in custom recovery (CWM or TWRP), it does NOT work in bootloader

Unfortunately you are quite right. I guess there is something fishy with my drivers although getvar gets info from my phone. And although Windows does not show any phone, in device manager there is a "My HTC" which is said to run correctly. Sigh.
I will try to get in contact with my phone and flash a ROM.

1- I'm assuming you TYPED that getvar ^^ above correct!?!?! (because of the "mistyped" stuff in it)... please confirm!!!! EDIT:: even better, do a "fastboot getvar all" again, and copy/paste output, not typed

Windows is your problem, not the phone and defo not bricked, HBOOT 1.44 doesn't work with windows 8+ you need windows 7, or you can try Ubuntu live CD/USB
If you search the forums there is a potential fix around here somewhere, some hacked drivers etc, I don't have links to hand at the moment, sorry, for some it works, for others it doesn't.

HELP! HTC ONE M7 in BOOTLOOP

Hi everyone!
I've tried to flash the last rom REVOLUTION to my HTC ONE M7 and since it's stuck in a BOOTLOOP.
Before that, i had already flash another rom REVOLUTION and all works fine, i just wanted the last version of it.
So, to manage that i did a full wipe of the phone in TWRP and i flash the rom but something got wrong because it wasn't installed.
I think it was because i did a full wipe so i did something very stupid: i flashed all the phone including the system of the phone.
Since i did that i tried to reboot the phone but it's know stuck in a BOOTLOOP...
Here is the informations i had on the bootloader:
***TAMPERED***
***UNLOCKED***
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-OFF RH
CID-HTC_203
HBOOT-1.44.0000
RADIO-4A.14.3250.13
OpenDSP-v26.120.274.0202
eMMC-boot
May 3 2013,17:22:59:-1
Now i'm afraid to try entering in the recovery to do another stupid thing!
And my computer don't detect the phone right now so i can't put on him any rom, could you help me with this situation please?
Thanks to all!

Your phone has very old firmware (hboot 1.44) your going to need a windows 7 PC to use fastboot on that device (or a Ubuntu live cd/flash drive)
you can also use a USB-OTG adapter and a flash drive with a rom on it. I don't think any of the new Lollipop based rom will work with such an old firmware version. Once you get the phone booted up use Revone/Rumrunner and s-off the phone before updating past hboot 1.54
I have a windows 7 computer so i have to download fastboot and install it if i understand? Have you the steps i had to do please?
I just don't understand how fastboot can access to the HTC because, like i said, it's not recognize by the PC.
Also, i'll try to find in XDA the last HBOOT like you said but my phone is S-OFF i think, do i need to do it again?
Thanks again!

not sure how far you want to go .. but I would start with this RUU and get OTA updates the rest of the way to lollipop
http://www.androidruu.com/getdownlo...10.38r.1157.04L_release_353069_signed_2-1.exe
Hi,
I'm dowloading the files and, to respond, i'm ready to go as far i can to have the phone working so thanks again for your help.
For the RUU file, i have to install it with fastboot or can i do with another way?
Regards.

Htc One m7 unbricking info.

Hi all,
I have a Htc One m7 from a friend of mine BRICKED.
It cannot load any os or recovery, however I can access the bootloader. Currently this is the situation:
***LOCKED***
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
HBOOT - 1.61.0000
RADIO - 4T.35.3218.16
OpenDSP - V35.120.274.0718
OS - 7.19.401.51
eMMC-boot 2048MB
NOV 16 2015. 20:23:35.0
I want to unbrick it, i don't care (want) to s-off, don't care (want) to unlock bootloader. Also I don't care if after unbricking it shows Locked, Relocked or anything else on the bootloader, just a functional phone.
Now, I've done some research and came to this conclusion, just flash the right RUU EXE for my phone and it should boot as normal. I just want a confirmation for this. Please, any senior member here at Xda if can tell me this is correct or I'm missing something.
Thanks!

Flashing the 7.19.401.51 ruu.zip should bring it back to life, as long as the problem isn't hardware related.
That ruu can be find in the general section (see stickies) or link in my signature.
Make sure to use htc_fastboot.exe to flash the ruu (not the regular fastboot.exe)

Thank you for your support!
However I'm experiencing another difficulty, when I try to connect the phone in fastboot mode (boot into bootloader > select the fastboot option > fastboot becomes red on top > but when connected to pc is not being recognised)
It remains on FASTBOOT doesn't become FASTBOOT USB. And the PC doesn't recognize it at all. Even double checked my pc (USB 2.0 Win 10) on Device Manager nothing. Tried another PC (USB 2.0 Win 7), even on Ubuntu with LSUSB doesn't see it.
BUT when connected on the pc while pushing "Power button" + "Volume up (+)" it is being recognized as "qhsusb_dload".
Do you think it is hardware failure, or there might be a chance of recovery?
Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks!
