Hello,
Has anyone tried this yet? http://developer.sonymobile.com/201...for-a-range-of-unlocked-xperia-devices-video/
It doesn't seem to be working for me!:
Steps taken:
Flashed stock 5.0.2 using Emma
Flashed TA Updated using Emma
Pressed volume down + power until vibration occurs
release power button
result:
Phone shows sony logo and not dead android (stock recovery) and then just reboots
Yes, I'm facing this behaviour too... It seems to be a known problem for some users, as it has also been postet under the original Sony article on deloper world... Hope Sony recognizes the problem soon and fixes the bootloader
Same here. Nothing happen.
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Free mobile app
Could one of you upload the ftf file so that non stock users can flash without wiping and flashing and all that...? Thank you

Could it be that you have got a sim locked phone? I a not sure but most sim locked phones have got a unlockable bootloader.
There are Z1s with:
Bootloader Unlock Allowed: Yes, and
Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No
It doesn't matter if you are SIM locked or not. SIM locked means you are tied to one specific Carrier and cannot use other Carrier's SIM. If you insert another Carrier's SIM it will not be recognized by the phone. You can have the phone "unlocked" meaning it will allow you so use any Carrier SIM you want to use but that doesn't you you have unlocked your bootloader.
If your phone says [Bootloader Unlock Allowed: Yes], you can unlock it using Flashtool or go to Sony's website.
If your phone says [Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No], sorry mate - you don't have any way of unlocking your bootloader.

That's the reality.
As already said only phones with 'bootloader unlock Allowed: yes' can be unlocked.
If this is my phone I would be interested in knowing why my bootloader isn't unlockable and I would write to Sony.

None that I know of personally. I did a Google search - I found a youtube video but I doubt it's credibility. But I am not an Advanced Developer or anything like that. I'm just another guy with an Android phone. And from what I've read so far, if your phone says [Bootloader Unlock Allowed: No] that means:
"No.",
"Sorry but No!",
"Nooooo-Waaaayyy",
"uh-uh!", "Sorry, nope!",
"No can do.", "Nada!",
"Let me thing about it.... I say... No!"
"Hmmm.... nah!"
If your phone was purchased as a 2nd hand phone, the original owner must have purchased it as a SIM-locked phone and have later had it Open-lined so he/she can use any Carrier SIM he/she wants. But as I have mentioned before; which almost everybody gets confused about; if you have had your phone Open-lined it doesn't mean you have unlocked the bootloader as well.

Ok, I saw many people asking how to unlock our X8 on all networks and I tried it on four Xperia X8 phone's and it's true, bootloader unlock succesfully unlocked X8 on all SIM cards. Yes, it asks for SIM Unlock code but I've just pressed dismiss button and it connected succesfully on other networks. I've unlocked bootloader with Flashtool v 0.5.3 and it worked on all (2.1, 2.2 &2.3) ROM's. Please try it and answer if you've succesfully unlocked your phone.

I have T-mobile locked X8.
I try to put VIP SIM card but it just won't connect to network. when I manually select VIP I get some massage. don't remember what exactly, but about forbidden network or something like that.
So I guess you are just lucky, cause it doesn't work for me.

The only time i have ever seen this is on phones that already have sim unlock. When you turn on your phone on a sim free phone which already had been unlocked it asks (EVERY TIME) to enter your network unlock code even do its already unlocked to all networks. The flash tool doesn't unlock your network

Oh,
I just realized what you wanted to say.
Bootloader can be unlocked with flashtool and, if done so, SIM unlocks too.
That's a huge thing, and should be made sticky, if so.
and what about us that unlocked bootloader before?
do we have to reflash stock kernel and relock bootloader? or can we just try to unlock with flashtool already unlocked bootloader?
I don't need my SIM unlocked now, but it would be nice to know. So, if somebody tries it please post how you did it.
I unlocked my bootloader (With msm7227), but its not sim unlocked. I have a custom kernel and custom rom, but still can't use my phone.
Any ideas?
sorry If I open this thread lot of months later, How can i unlock bootloader of this x8 with flashtool? these are the features of flashtool
Flash original Images (Android 1.6, 2.1, 2.3 Images)
Root your phone
Install Recovery, Busybox, custom kernels
Clean your Rom (remove /system/apps apps of your choice) (Be careful, unless you really know what you do, do not modify the default list. This can make your phone stuck at the SE Logo)
Clear dalvik cache
Optimize (install of JIT v2) (Disabled in 0.4, will readd it as a plugin for 2.1 phones only)
Customize (installs apps found in the custom/apps folder of the flashtool)
Clean uninstalled (remove any references to system apps removed in the Clean (root needed) step)
Edit any text file on the device
Rebrand your device

Which one is for me? Thank you!
1. connect phone to pc
2. enable debugging
3. you must have latest flashtool
4.launch flashtool
5. go to "Plugins" at top and click unlock bootloader.
Good luck!
Or you can go on yt and search for 2011matej in channels and find my profile. There is my video how to unlock bootloader with flashtool:good:
i unlocked the bootloader by msm 7227 and it isnt sim unlocked.........the phone is e15a but it cannot be used in other networks......is there a way we can unlock a e15a that is rooted and bootloader unlocked by msm7227......help would be appreciated.....and i searched but didnt find any solution
I have unlocked with msm7227 and i just tried and it isn't sim unlocked. I already have an unlocked bootloader but Can I just go into flashtool and unlock it there?
Just received the XSP as an upgrade on T-Mobile UK and was disappointed to discover via the service menu that the bootloader is unlockable. Forgive me for asking but does this mean that there is absolutely no chance that at any point in the future I will be able to unlock it? I would like to use custom roms and want to know if I kight as well look for a new phone. This was never a problem on my old Optimus Black.
Thanks in advance.

Praise the (Doom)Lord! Will this allow us to unlock the boot then andflash custom roms?
Just to make it clear bootloader is locked this means no custom kernel which might mean custom ROMs are out ie. Cm,akop,PAC etc
You will be able to root using doomlord exploit and in time will get cwm for locked bootloader so we be able to use modded stock ROMs.
As it stands only root is available for locked bootloader hope this helps

There is a way to unlock your bootloader. You must get a SIM unlock code, unlock your SP and send an email to Sony with some data like Imei, unlock code, etc. Then a messenger will be sent to pick your phone and lucky, Sony will unlock your phone.

Few days ago sent an email to Sony asking about this issue. Here in Spain there was a global complaint from Xperia U users asking for open the possibility of unlock their bootloaders: not to unlock it but to change the "unlockable" state of the phone. After the debate, Sony says people could send their phones to Sony attaching the respective unlock code with which they'd unlocked (SIM Unlock). Then Sony would send the telephones with the bootloader unlockable.
PS: Maybe he meant "not unlockable" instead "unlockable". If it's unlockable then he doesn't have any problem!

Yeah, mate. You have to send a message to Sony saying you've (sim) unlocked your phone and you want to unlock your bootloader. They will send you all the information you need to go through with the process.
okay so i just recently unlocked my phones sim , from fido
i bought a code online from cellunlocker.net
it shows that i dont have a sim lock, yet in my service menu it still shows "bootloader unlock allowed : no"
isnt it supposed to say bootloader unlock allowed : yes now? or is it supposed to be like this?
Bootloader and sim unlock are different things just by unlocking one of them, doesn't mean the other will be unlocked.
By unlocking sim it just means you can use another carriers sim.
Bootloader is kernel related, unlocking will allow the use of custom kernels which means custom ROMs.

Bootloader is bootloader related. By unlocking the bootloader you can indeed install custom kernels.

Like zolaisugly says, there is no connection between sim lock and bootlocker. A sim lock is a sim lock and the bootlocker is a bootlocker.
I also think if you read this thread this question has already been asked and answered. So, it is normal that your phone still says "Bootlocker unlcok allowed: no". It is impossoble to unlock your bootlocker (for now).
How can I install a custom ROM without an unlocked bootloader?
My phone says its bootloader cannot be unlocked
Mine too , it's must to be a solution to unlock the bootloader...
No, there is no solution
If it says it cannot be unlocked then it cannot be unlocked
Look in the development section for stock based custom roms that can be installed with a locked bootloader
To my experience it needs to be sim unlocked first in order to be bootloader unlocked. In a Xperia Z it said it couldn't unlock bootloader, i purchased unlock code, got it unlocked and then reflashed stock image. After that the status on "bootloader unlock allowed" was changed to yes.

Please provide proof of that, because this has never happened before and would be fantastic news
Also, some sim locked phones can have bootloaders unlocked and some sim free phones have bootloaders that cannot be unlocked. SO your logic is wrong.

Can't provide proof as 1) the bootloader was already unlocked 2) I don't even have the phone anymore.
I don't know if you find my logic right or wrong it was what happened to MY experience with one phone.
I'm pretty sure devs can give you a technical explanation about why it can or can't happen.

When i got the phone (telcel mexico) it said the bootloader was not allowed to be unlocked.
I purchased an unlock code. Entered the code, unlocked the phone.
I flashed an upgraded FW via FTF
typed *#*#SERVICE#*#* and boom bootloader unlock statys changed to yes
That's how i know the status changed. So basically that's my story. I thought it could work with every device.
@gregbradley maybe the sim unlock method really works to change unlock bootloader status YES..bcs it works for some sony device, and we need to test this on Z1.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896553
There is nothing in that thread that confirms this. Plus the test point method to unofficially unlock the bootloader was stopped by Sony nearly 2 years ago.
But please, delve into this again if you want. But trust me it is a dead end and does not work. If it was easy as sim unlocking and flashing a ftf do you not think that would have been done by now.
Some seriously good devs have been working on this ever since the test point method was closed.

Hi,
I have a Sony Xperia SP and to perform all the procedures to unlock the Bootloader in the initial part that says if our machine can unlock the bootloader or not , mine says it is not allowed .
My questions are:
Why is this unlock on some devices is allowed and others not?
Even if the information that shows my device , it is not possible to unlock the bootloader , I wonder if there's another way to do it or even impossible to do ?

Your service provider doesn't want you to unlock your bootloader and there is no way of unlocking if it says not allowed.

In simple words no. But you can install cm11 on locked bootloaders. Just search for it in the development sections.
Hit thanks if helped.

I also have the bootloader status set to NO.At the moment, there is no way to make it say YES,unless you SIM unlock it(It must work,as in most cases it is the SIM lock which changes the status to NO).
