My friend recently upgraded to the M9 and gave me his M7 for free.
I love every single thing about the M7 except 1 thing:
The rear and front facing camera.
From the guides on xda forums, i have read that if you double the copper tape and add a copper roll from the screen side, the pink tint will go away. But the problem didnt go away.
So I thought to myself that there is a gap between the camera chip and the copper tape. So I bought Arctic MX-2 and applied a small piece to the chip. It ALSO didn't change anything.
I was hoping that the pink tint will gradually appear as the camera heats up. But it appears immediately...
The front facing camera at daytime is beautiful. However once you go into a dark root, even with 1 lamp lit, the picture gets extremely grainy and the video gets very choppy (maybe 3fps) ? Is this normal?
My question:
1) Is there anything I can do besides, buying a new rear facing camera?
2) Is the front facing camera normal? If I buy a new front facing camera will the issue disappear?
1. No. It's been permanently damaged.
2. No. Grain and low fps are due to poor low light performance.

If I buy a replacement ultrapixel camera, will the camera be the same quality?
It should be.

If you have a m7, can you please take a picture of your front camera in low light and upload it. Thanks!
Last question:
Where can I get a good quality camera ultrapixel camera in the UK for under 15 pounds?

Here you go. One picture taken in poor light and the other one taken with lights completely off.
No idea where you can get a new sensor but do search this thread - it was already posted.
I have 2 M7s. My "primary" I purchased launch day (2+ years of use), solid (awesome) battery life, great screen, and camera is flawless front and rear. My 2nd M7 is my ROM flashing machine, screen is claibrated differently (not worse, but whites are bluer etc, I prefer my primary), battery is worse even though it hasn been used as much, and while the front cam is fine the rear cam has the purple tint issue and is useless in my opinion. Even clear daylight shots it fails in comparison to my primary M7.

hi there everyone. I got my kaiser a couple of days ago of a friend's friend and its a great phone. i am having a problem though with the camera as i understand its 3 megapixil, but my quality is realy really bad. It is very blurry to the point where the picture is just ugly.
my camera quality is really bad i have one of the newsest camera software installed. i dont mean the lag or anything i just mean the camera quality is so blurry and unclear i have sharpness on high and styll :S
when i press the camera button to take a picture and it auto focuses, before the green thing comes for juss half a second everything is clear buh then becomes super blurry when the green part comes and the pictures turns out blurry (so much for the moment of clarity ). any suggestions or is it jus broken
It would be nice if you would post a pic of the blurrieness so that we can compare with our blurrieness. Oh and the camera is known for being ghetto.
Take the back off and take a picture, most probably it is the plastic cover over the lens, to which can be removed
Like the guy above me said...take the cover off when you take a picture...I finally just got tired of always having to take the cover off, so I just got an exacto knife and removed the plastic piece on the back cover that "protects" the camera...and now my pictures are true 3MP quality =)
A known poor design issue
There have been many threads about this here already so a search will reveal more. What you're experiencing is probably known as Chromatic Aberration which as you can read is associated with the design of the lense and its cover. As mentioned removing the cover helps (as does making sure it's kept clean - not an easy task considering it's right where your fingers go).
hole
i did a hole for clear snapping pics...lol..

OMG! You're right. After reading this thread, I took two pictures, one with the cover on, and one with the cover off. The difference is remarkable. I didn't know my kaiser was capable of pictures like this
Here is the proof.
And just think, this is a really old subject that has been covered before. You could have been taking pictures like this earlier if you had found those threads.
thnx everyone it actaully is working amazing now . i had some plastic clear sticker on top of it and when i took it off the camera started taking crystal clear pictures. its BOOOOOM! now

The camera360 pics look better and more colourful to me. Maybe I should try it too !
Awesome, I had my first opportunity to use Camera 360 today, I jacked up the image resolution, zoomed in as much as I could and took a shot looking out the 4th floor window of a dropbox.com office here in SF. I was impressed.

Backcover on. Personally I don't see any difference with backcover on or off.
you can try HDR camera+, if you want to sompare with Camera 360
I use from a long time the camera 360 con la option of hdr light and i am very satisfied. The picture with the camera original of optimus is very week seems like no have color but with the 360 the picture looks like wonderful picture. Yesterday i founded a new camera software even better then all the soft of camera and named U-cam. Try it.
Looks really nice. I made some tests some time ago but i didn't see any big difference.
I'm gonna try camera 360 again!
Optical sensor is quite good, made by Sony. But also we have second "glass" on back cover, which can get dirty inside and out. Then at the end I think software is to be blamed about most of the bad results, even though we have some options that other can dream of. Like panorama mode or even simple flash for photos
But lousy brightness and white balance on auto mode can ruin all that. Can be fixed by manual setting which is is pain in the ass, but there are software fixes for later.
Every photo editor has it. Paint.NET has "auto-level" under Adjustments for easy fixing, but I do it with Picasa. Use it for managing my photo collection anyway, and there are a lot of auto or manual editing options. "Feeling lucky" usually makes wonders out of my not-so-attractive photos, sometimes it even looks like lite-HDR effect. Try it: http://picasatutorials.com/2009/04/picasa-tip-im-feeling-lucky/
Camera 360 is a great App. I use it for 2 years now. But your comparison is not about photo quality but rather about settings.
Compare the Camera 360 HDR Light photos to the LG stock camera "Vivid" option.
Also I cleaned my back cover glass with laboratory grade alcohol and microscope wipes last year. There seemed to be residue from the glue holding the glass smeared across the glass. Mainly on the inside. Once this was removed I never had dramatic differences between cover on and cover off.
There is dust in there sometimes and there are fingerprints on it, but they are wiped off easily.
I find the camera on the Note 5 is wonderful but lately I've noticed some issues in night conditions that are disappointing. I have a ton of streak artifact. Best way to describe it is to just look at the photos below. I wanted to take some nice photos of my two rides and came back disappointed.
I took photos with THREE different camera phones and none of those did what the Note 5 did. Any thoughts?
Galaxy Note 5 set first, followed by my AOSP G3, and the last shot is with an older generation iPhone.
Note 5 set to auto mode. I tried tweaking things with other settings and nothing could get rid of those streaks.
Imaging quality overall goes to the Note 5 but those artifacts make it unbearable. Is there something wrong in software? Is it a dirty lens issue (and if so how do I successfully clean it)? Is this a hardware problem that I should try and warranty?
Only modification to the photos posted was I dropped the resolution for easier viewing.

LG G3
Obviously image quality goes down but those streaks certainly don't show up anymore.
iPhone
factory reset is the last resort, try other apps like camera MX or camera FV5, if the same results occur, then the problem is either firmware or something in the sensor.
Clean your lens, rule number 1.
You try and apply the camera mod to increase jpeg quality a bit, but first do what i mentioned above and report back soldier!
That's all lens.
Is there any chance that you installed a rear screen protector for the camera?
If not and cleaning the lens doesn't solve this, then there's nothing you can do, besides eliminating those flares manually in ps or something.
Lens flare is quite common, espeically at large aperture lens such as the one which located in this phone, but these are quite severe and might be caused by lens misalignment or another defect. I'll try to shoot some lamp posts at night and see what's going on with my unit.
welp...tiny...T-I-N-Y scratch I can see over the camera...unreal. I'm guessing that's it. At least in day time it only happens in direct light. Here's an example with it showing and one without it showing...
Flair over blue car...
As long as I play angles enough it seems to get out of the view entirely. I guess I'll be learning a new way to take photos from now on... :/
You can probably get the camera lens replaced without burning your wallet, might want to look into that. The Note 5 definitely took better photos than the G3, ignore the lens defects. The difference there is insane.
Anyone else front camera grainy??

Didn't bring the nexus with me today, I using my G4 instead.
But tomorrow I will bring the nexus and post sample photo.
You can always check the resolution settings in your camera app. As a reminder we have a 2.1 megapixel front camera. The digital camera I got as a graduation present in 2002 was 2.1mp.
Low light will also make this lack of resolution quite apparent.
Our back camera is 13mp.
Here is a comparison of 3, 5, and 8 megapixels.

I just wipe the lens and camera and it help big time.
I had to clean it internally, I had replaced the motherboard since it had a bad imei and I guess replacement board's camera was dirty.
Will post samples tomorrow.

I have the Galaxy S10e and use the main and wide cameras both quite often.
The "Ultra wide shape correction" option is turned ON in my settings for the Ultra Wide camera.
I am getting distortion on the edges of straight lines on buildings, pictures, etc with the MAIN camera. Please see the two images below..
This is very confusing and never happened with my S9 which I owned prior.
Anyone else seeing or noticing this? Any idea how to correct?
Main camera (distorted edges appear curved, but this is a perfectly straight picture frame)

Ultra Wide (no distortion)
a lot of views on this thread, but no replies from anyone.. am posting up two more examples from a trip last week in Guatemala. you can clearly see the distortion in the close up image (normal lens) and then compared to the wide angle (wide lens) with no distortion.
has anyone else noticed this or can confirm/deny this issue with their s10 normal vs wide camera?
main camera, with distortion on edges of straight line wall
wide camera, no distortion, and you can clearly see the wall is straight

Hi, no distortion at all on main camera also not on wide. (Exynos S10, April update)
Sent from my SM-G973F using XDA Labs
Check under Camera Settings>Picture>Save Options...there are options to correct ultra wide distortion and selfie distortion.
ETA: above is for S10+...not sure if it is the same on S10e
Hello cyburke,
Thank you for your message, this good to see that I am not the only one to notice problems:
I see shocking spherical aberation on the MAIN camera on my Galaxy S10 on left right borders.
This is the first model of Galaxy S serie that gives such bad distortion, so disappointing for a flagship smartphone..
Hey! You are definitely not alone, but I thought it would be a much more frequent issue. Bought my s10+ from US to get the snapdragon version, so it would be pretty inconvenient to send it back (also it's been with me for almost 9 months). I get huge distortions on main and wide camera. People are stretched so hard, the look like aliens sometimes. It seems like it's not an app issue.
I wonder if camera glass protectors cause this. I have this problem on my Galaxy A51. Do you use glass protector for your camera?
