Finally we got Android L, so can anyone root it ??
On UB, flash twrp recovery using fastboot (fastboot flash boot recovery.img). Then flash super su using recovery. After that flash back kernel using flashtool.
I'm still figuring out how to flash a twrp recovery on ub

If this root method is working, you can try flash recovery in FOTA partition by for example Xperia Recovery Manager.

If you have allready rooted phone, use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2859904
To create rooted update file and flash it via recovery.
You might need to downgrade, root and update via your own lollipop package.

Ive downloaded the 4.2.2 official update on my HTC one,When I click install now it goes into TWRP and doesnt allow me to update.
Do I need to flash the custom recovery to update?
and if so will I need to flash TWRP later after upgrading or is there another way?
Can I locate the update file on TWRP and install it ?

You will backuping the stock recovery for?
Because if you won't root the phone and flash a custom recovery, you never won't lose the stock recovery.
However, yes, you can, but this don't have a lot of sense.
You will lose your warranty for a backup of the stock recovery?

Hello,
I want to install Paranoid Android 4.4
My Z1 C6903 is in Stock rom 14.3.A.0.757 rooted, TA backup done and bootloader unlocked with stock recovery.
Now i'm a little bit lost, what should I do ?
1/ Install a custom recovery (TWRP or CWM) that I pick up separately and after install Paranoid 4.4
or
2/ Just follow the flashing instruction from Paranoid ? (does the boot.img include a custom recovery ?)
Thanks for the help ! (and sorry for my english.)

what's differences between BL and UL for you guys?
UL can flash kernel.
BL cannot flash kernel!
what's recovery?
some binary files that should be called before calling and starting system so it's pretty good to start in kernel before trying to start system.
but what if we can't modify the kernel?
yet we can modify the system and put some binary files in stock chargemon (when the phone trying to figure whether goes to offline charging or not) so it starts first in whole system and wait for a key, if pressed just execute the recovery!
so again, can something that specifically build for LB be flashed or run on UB?? my answer is mostly yes.
can something that needs flashing kernel or other things than system and data on LB? my answer is mostly NO
is [NUT] recovery for both ub and lb? yes! if you don't have recovery on kernel. ( or else you have two recovery one in kernel and one in system and 3 seconds delay in each starting nothing else)
I'm surprised that nobody else has uploaded any of the OTAs yet, so I thought I'd start.
I uploaded it on 2 servers, in case one is down:

Again, this is stock Razr I EU OTA from 4.1.2 to 4.4.2
This should be very handy for the ones who still haven't received the OTA so you can flash it manually.
Please note that the GPT gets flashed, so a downgrade to 4.1.2 can be tricky after taking this update.
Can i flash this with rsd-lite when i already have kitkat OTA? I would like to flash again kitkat, because i had reboots with the stock.

The stock recovery can be extracted from a RSD-Lite package. Than reboot in fastboot and use the command "fastboot flash recovery <recovery>". Now u will have the stock recovery instead of CWM.
Do know that going from 4.1.2 to 4.4.2 with the OTA update requires no modification to the system partition, except from adding files. Modifying files or deleting files from the system partition will make the update fail. So if u only have root installed through recovery then there is a hugh change everything works. But if u deleted some bloatdware, then it most likely will fail.

Here i thought i had to root first then flash custom recovery ?
Can I apply this OTA update over a standard 4.1.2?. I am using 4.1.2 from Personal Argentina , recovery is stock, but only I have root. I know that is not update to 4.4.2 of my versiĆ³n so I should go to retail BR or EU but if I flash via RSD I will lost all my settings.
So if I update using this OTA (or BR OTA) to go to 4.4.2 from other 4.1.2, can be a problem?

Claudio.

If you are in fastboot mode, the recovery's should flash just fine If u have an unlocked bootloader. Should not be more than 5-10 seconds to finish. If something goes wrong it will say it on screen and even in the terminal on your PC.
