[Q] Which is the best 4.4.4 rom for me? - LG Optimus 4X HD

I have been using the stock 4.0.3 rom with the 4X for about 4 years now, but enough is enough, i see that there is not going to be any official updates from LG, so i decided to go for a custom rom. I am fed up with the gps taking half an hour to lock and with other issue. I have about 500 apps but that is ok i am going to install them again.
So which rom should i go for? Which is the most stable? Any suggestions? I did root the phone in the beginning, but i don't remember if i have an unlocked bootloader. I don't have any recovery either (except for the stock utility). Should i go for clockworkmod? Which version? And will i have to root the phone again at some point? Because i remember the root procedure was for 4.0.3 only.

How can I upgrade to the latest 2.2?

My story is sort of a strange one.
I originally unlocked my N1 and installed a 2.1 custom rom on it. Then Paul released his 1 ZIP to flash upgrade to F50. I got that and all hints of my custom rom seem to have disappeared. However I'm not sure if I will get OTA updates now, or if I can simply flash the new ZIP to give me the latest froyo because of this custom ROM that I can't remember its name.
I would go back to stock roms and everything but I don't want to lose all my data and apps, plus I don't know how!
So your saying you flashed the froyo update and your Rom is gone?
If that's what you meant... than that is what is supposed to happen.... you lose root when you flash that update.... but Cyanogen made a quick fix for that

Stable roms

Hello guyz,
I m using philz touch recovery and tried aosb, cm 11, etc but each rom had one or the other problem in it.
1.Can I install the 4.1.2 mex retail zip after a wipe and clean or do i have to go back to earlier version of the recovery?
Which are the most stable roms out yet? Where everything works great... like in the mex retail and the ics. Which has some good dev options in it like paranoid android
Well, hate to say this, but every custom (non-stock) rom, regardless of Android version, has some sort of an issue. You either gotta find one that you can live with or stay stock. HoloBlur is probably what you're looking for -- Custom based on Mex Retail. Going back to stock, you're better of just flashing a fastboot with Myth and skipping the recovery flash, boot into recovery and let it root it for you as well as fix the recovery crap in /etc.

shouldnt you have a backup of stock so you could restore it and then just wipe data?
and i use cm11 cause the only 2 problems i have is a) the kit kat wifi issue and b) google play music will restart the phone if the screen is off. by cm 11 i mean the "official latest nightly) which was released a month ago and runs ten times faster than slim kat or any other rom ive used so far.

[Q] Is it a good idea to flash a rom on a "somewhat" rooted phone?

Hi, I'm running Benny's 4.3 (build number 3.04.651.2) Deodexed (because i do not see any .odex files in the system folder, right?) and I want to flash the update which keeps popping up in the notifications every 24 hours after clearing app data.
I tried doing the OTA update but my phone goes into TWRP. My biggest concern is flashing the stock rooted update because my phone really isn't rooted. I have SuperSu on the phone and sometimes I get "SuperSu has been granted permission" or something like that but Root Checker app says the phone does not have proper root access. I don't really know what is going on because I took my phone to a repair center to get it unlocked shortly after i got the official OTA 4.3 update. I read that you need to downgrade to 4.1 and then unlock the phone through SimUnlockHelper apk. When I got my phone back everything was working as it should and my phone is indeed unlocked.
My biggest concern is flashing a stock rooted rom because of the fact that my phone does not have proper root access. Would you recommend doing this and are there any precautions I should be aware of because I had nothing to do with rooting or tweaking android before since this is my first phone that runs android officially.
Thanks!

use the backup feature in twrp to make a nandroid and flash a stock rooted 4.3 rom. if it doesn't work restore your backup. if u need any info the sticky thread at the top of this section by bd19 will really help. read thoroughly. fyi you cannot ota with a custom recovery (twrp) you need stock recovery.

^This is the safest option @Andza195
BTW, imo, it should work, but just backup just in case. Also, if something doesn't work, the real best method is just to download the newest version of the ROM, back (everything that's important to you) up, wipe everything in TWRP except Internal Storage (because this is where the flashable .zip is at!) and flash the ROM fresh.

[Q] PROBLEM!

I have a HTC Desire 510, network unlocked and from the uk, therefore it is a 64bit version, I couldn't find a possible way to root my phone until I came across a kernel that was already rooted, after flashing the kernel and gathering root access I decided to flash a custom recovery, phils touch recovery. Soon after rooting and flashing my phone started to develop some problems, my data allowance is getting eaten super fast and I can't resolve this problem, when getting in touch to ask for a stock kernel from HTC they knocked me back.
Does anyone have a stock recovery for the HTC desire 510 64-bit unlocked European ?
Or
Does anyone have a good custom rom that will run on 64-bit European version?
I downloaded the OTA update a whole ago and obviously it wouldn't install because of my custom recovery, I was wondering if someone had an idea if there would be a new kernel in the update I had downloaded? Or if there was a way to install the update through philstouch?
I would much prefer to revert my phone back to stock, stock recovery, stock kernel, stock everything. However a new fresh rom would work better tan I have now. If someone could help me it would be much appreciated?

What kernel did you flash? The only other one I'm aware of right now is the dreamer kernel if you didn't flash that then you can try it..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-510/orig-development/thedreamer-kernel-64bit-t3027273
This is also a main reason we tell everyone to make a complete backup of your current system before ever even flashing anything at all! Take this as a warning folks to simply spend the extra time to make a complete backup of your system!! It will save you in the long run!

Rooted and can't update..

Hello,
I rooted and unlocked my HTC Desire 510 (Cricket) ages ago and I have an update for security patches which I cannot run because my phone just keeps rebooting into TWRP recovery and therefore does not install the latest update. I heard you have to flash the phone back to stock ROM but I'm not sure how to go about doing that. I am willing to restore my phone back to 100% stock if anyone knows how I can do that.
Thank you.
You have to relook the bootloader
Flash stock rom
Apply your ota updat
And after you can unlook again and flash recovery

IMO.... Update isn't worth the time involved needed to install it. Installed on my wife's totally out of the box stock 510....esy,but couldn't really see a difference. Left my rooted nonsense ROM alone. It's been quite a while now and haven't noticed a difference. Your call, that's just my two cents worth

I ended up finding someones stock recovery image dump around here after doing some searching and it worked out fine. The only reason I ever actually rooted my device was to use Helium to do full backups of my phone such as Apps and App Data.
