Are you rooted ? if so, use es file explorer (may work on other root explorers?) and go to settings, then select file settings, then tick "show hidden files"
now, look for a folder called trash1000 inside this will be all the files you have deleted, delete that folder and reboot and you should regain some space.
this happened to me the other week, i had 0 files on the sd card, but upto 9gb of deleted files inside this folder, roms that id deleted months ago.
also, throw in a format for good measure too just make sure to backup anything you want to keep !
I am currently on ultimate n7000 4.1.2 jb rom but i have also tried changing different roms just to find out if there is something wrong with this rom ... but nothing worked for me ...
I installed es file manager and i went into settings and did how you said .. i checked on show hidden files but i couldnt find that folder bro ...
Do you have any idea now whats wrong with it ....
Thanks
And id i try to delete something from the file manager ... it is not letting me delete anything as well ...

To delete system files, make sure that files are mounted as R+W (read+write) & R/O (read-only)..in ES explorer, you can see this on the right top..once mounted as R+W, you should be able to delete..

Not your card . I had this crap with the jb roms
Need to wipe the odex file of offending app. The one you try ,like galley,in my case, which gives you the message
Sent from the man hiding in your attic......
Why if you are having a problem, the first thing you think of is flashing roms and kernels ?
It's like buying a new car if your shoe doesn't fit snugly to your foot..
If you get these error messages one of three conditions might be true :
1. Your memory is read only....
2. The partition you are writing to is full.
3. It is trying to install to a non existing path.
So a logical approach would be to first determine which one of these cases is
causing your problem, and then take appropriate action..
Can you please tell how do i wipe that ... ?? Because i am actually fed up of it now and i need some solution ... actually i have this another application with which i can actually see the pics but i dunno why not from the orignal application
I got a solution... i was on rr v3... below mention things i did to work it normal again now no problem at all
1. Wipe data from recovery
2. Using pc odin i flashed ginger bread and 16 gb pit file.
3. Stay 15 min on ginger bread
4. Flash 4.0.4 using pc odin
5. Rooted hydracore kernal
6. Wipe all data.
7.flash jelly bean stock deodex rom ( which i make my own).
8. Flash new xxls7 philiz kernal
All work fine now n much smother than before.

Hey guys,
I recently rooted my s3 mini to JB 4.1.2 by faria and i was wondering why i cant install any more apps as my ram is used up by all my apps. is there a way to clear/wipe all this data and start from scratch installations or any way i can move this huge game files in android/obb to another location in my sdcard to save space for app installations on my phone memory.
also, i have tried directory bind,app2sd, lind2sd and gl to sd(root) none of them seems to be installing or working for me as i still face the prob with installation of the same app.
kindly help.

Had the same error.
Simply wipe dalvik-cache and everything will work fine.
Cheers.
I used titanium backup and wiped dalvik cache. Still no use. Same error. Is there any way I can install busy box in linux.

Remove a LOT of your apps. That should fix the storage problem until you get the script into /data.

try changing default install location. possible with normal device options, dont remember where. or else use app2sd to change it.
although i have the same error, when trying to install anything on extsdcard (with enough room on it), with faria rom v5.1.
with leatherface v2 i didnt have the problem if i remember correct.
update:
i still have the problem too.
wiped dalvik, factory reset multiple times, cleaned odin files, although faria rom is also using odex?
phone works fine, but i only have 4,5gb max internal (fused internal and sdcard).
and i cant install anything to external. i selected the options *install to: autoselect by android, internal, or external.
i tried it with more then one app, like rom toolbox pro.
i also noticed that chaning it it one app, correctly alters it in another.
i asked this in q&a, and i read what i can searching the whole forum. still i wuold really like to know:
-is 4,5 gb max combined/fused is normal for s3 mini +faria rom)?
-is it normal to have .obb partition completely empty, even having installed multipple apps?
its 402mb, totally free.
And i have other partitions also 402 mb, totally free.
-/cache partitions remains at 14mb, whatever happends, even after changing usage of cache heavier and lighter.
-cant install anything on extsdcard.
-/mnt/sdcard shows in that directory, with root explorer, as linked to sdcard0.
same in root:/sdcard (not sdcard0!) linked to -> sdcard0
but it has no apps in it. and only some folders.
?i dont know if i am correct in assuming that "->" symbol in root explorer means: linked to.

did u used linked to sd?if yes you have to select default instal location to automatic...that solved my problem...the setting in link 2 sd....before this i select install to ext sd card and every time theres error insufficient memory...
thx for yuor reply

thx for yuor reply.
no that is not what i mean exactly.
i do use link2sd now, to use my extsd 2nd partition. but it gives an error: installl_failed_insufficent storage.
even when i put it on auto.
when pressing create link, i get: i/o error.
what do you have selected to auto move to 2nd partition?
my primary question, has to do with the fused internal+sdcard phone memory (so not extsdcard), of faria firmware.
Phone sees the fused internal as,... internal memory.
and the phone sees my extsdcard as external sdcard.
i presumed the reason for this is to be able to install apps on ext sd too, by default. (so without link2sd or others).
because the problem as i see it is:
now i have less phone storage.
i still cannot install to external sd card.
i would really like to know
- what should be the benefits of this fused memory? why did faria do this?
- beacause now i have less or same memory, and no benefits.
-what i have to change in system mount, or fuse, to get back original non-fused.
- And/Or, how i can enable extsdcard to install to it too.
thanks
Have you tried with an ext4 partition on your external sd, for link2sd? I've read somewhere that it worked.
Otherwise Directorybind do work. I've binded the whole Android folder without any problems at all :good:
hey

hi,
actually i do also had a the same problem with my cell phone as of yours... so i just wanna know if we had comeout with those problem.... please suggest me a solution too if you had solved those problem.
please do help...
found a solution (maybe?)
I personally had the same problem right after flashing a new rom on my i9100. I read through the script amd it was quite literally just unmounting and mounting the sd card again. I wasn't sure how it could possibly be a simple matter of mounting the sd card but it worked so I'm okay with that.
If you're on 4.1.2 then you can probably manually unmount and mount the sd card by going into system settings, storage and scroll down to sd card for unmount. It'll take a short while to unmount and another to mount again and check for errors. Not sure if you have to do this will ever boot but it beats not ever installing anything, right?

Hello,
I have a problem with my Internal SD I have no write access to it but I can read it.
When I connect my phone to the PC with USB I can see the folders & files but
can't delete anything , it seems I have wright access issue.
When I try to delete I have got the message Cannot delete 'File' : the storage is write-protected
Remove the wright protection and try again.
I can't use the phone I have a lot of FC.
in recovery mode I have Format :/system , format :/SD
Reflash with JVU 2.3.6 and root the phone many times but still the same problem.
Initially I have red messages as you can see in attachment.
Is there anyway to change the status of the Internal SD ? Thank you in advance for any help,
any suggestion
It is first occurred after installing recoveries from this tutorial : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2649923
I was new that time so take out backup of system from ROM manager app, it started backup into internal memory, after a which it ran out of space so i rebooted in system.
XSP prompt low internal space message so i decide to delete backup file. succeed to delete from Rom Toolbox root browser.
n from now on this problem started.
i tried deleting .odex files from /data/app nothing happened.
some one suggested to delete .odex files from /system/app, i started deleting butt it turns into soft brick (bootloop).
so i flashed XSP with stock ROM 4.3 India with the help of this tutorial : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658952
i lost all my data n all but i was happy to see that problem is gone.
then i started rein-staling all apps + root app like super SU, Rom toolbox, titanium backup, luckypatcher (same as before).
then i realize xsp is not rooted so I rooted again with Towelroot n installed recoveries.
everything goes fine for some day n problem occurred again. :crying:
then i find a trick to wipe cache/ dalvik cache, i tried it without taking out backup.last all data again but problem is gone again.
i stared reinstalling apps again.everything goes fine for few days.
n then problem started again. i take out backup first (TWRP) then start wiping cache n all.
then i start recovering that backup,
But This Time Problem won't gone keep showing OUT OF SPACE message again n again, also unable to install app from play store.
i dont want to flash it again coz problem will come again.
sorry for bad English.
please help me guys..
please reply n help me.

You should start all over again and use an external mini SD for your backups and media files.
Backup to external SD card from recovery rather than backing up to your internal memory.
Backup files are known to be large files.

No, just wipe everything on your internal SD card.
Wipe /cache, /data... etc.
Format /system
And then start over again like you've just bought your phone.
You must have a load of bloatware since I cannot image an internal SD card being full with only installing a few apps.

i have done that before n its perfect solution.
but then why problem appears after few days.
n should i restore backup from TWRP, asking because i noticed that if i restore it, problem wont go.
If you restore a nandroid backup from recovery it will not solve your problem!
There are always folders with files in them that remain on your internal memory.
Restart all over (format) and when you're installing big apps like games or so, move them to your external SD card.
If not, you will be confronted with the same problem over and over again.
Simple logic if you ask me...

You possibly have one or more nandroid backups in your internal memory.
Check folder clockworkmod\backup.
There might be some folders in there. Delete any backups (complete folder) which aren't needed.
To avoid running out of memory again, backup to external SD card from now on.

Don't make a nandroid backup. Just make backup of apk's then make a backup of contacts manually in vcf format and all other things you need. Then partition your SD card and then use App2SD and make your internal memory grow more in space don't follow anyone's else crap suggestions.

Telling people not to use a nandroid backup is what I call a "crap" suggestion!
I can name millions of reasons why it is always good to have a full nandroid backup.

And as far as it is about making a nandroid backup then keep in mind that Nandroid Backup makes backup of compelete device as it is in what so ever state it is. He download apps over and over again so it's better to backup apk's rather than a nandroid backup And yeah you help me growing up if you know XD
