Hello everybody!
i m using artmod's rom and i would like to install and use google dialer from santod040's rom. So i took the dialer.apk from the zip of santod's rom and copied it to system/priv-app in my phone and changed the permissions to -rw-r--r--. I can now use the dialer as an appa but it is not selected as default. I cleared default from settings fro stock dialer but still when i receive a phone sense dialer comes up.. Is there any way to change the dialer completely?
Thanks in advance

The dialer that pops up when a phone call comes in is an app called telecomm I believe. If u go to santods port of iyapotas mod pack threads for the m7, download the mod pack , and extract EVERYTHING in the GPE folder , youll see whAt all you need for the full dialer experience. I believe theres dialer, contacts, telecomm, teleservice, and 1 other.

Hi All,
I'm on the AT&T Captivate and have an issue with some of the ROMs that are out here. I am currently running the Cognition B9.1.2 ROM and LOVE it! My issue is that I am in Canada on the Rogers network and have found that certain messaging apps record incorrectly the received time of incoming SMS messages. There are tools in the Market to sort of fix this but I have found that some ROMs (Thinking of the "Tayutama's JPM Froyo w/Xcaliburinhand's Re-oriented Kernel - 10/28/2010" as an example where this error does not occur. I was looking at modifying the messaging app between those ROMs but was unsure how to do that.
Any help or pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

The text message time issue is not due to the Cognition ROM, it's because of how Rogers/FIDO do a timestamp adjustment in addition to your phone doing a timestamp adjustment.
You can either have your timezone changed, or download SMS time fix from the market.
Had the same problem myself!
Cheers,

Straight from the Cognition thread, search can be you friend.
Below are the steps I used to restore the AOSP Email app. designgears had added the AOSP Email client to earlier ROMS but reverted to the TW Email app because of too many complaints. I found that the AOSP Email app is much more reliable than the TW. You should be able to perform similar steps to install a different messaging apk. Let me know if this helps at all. I altered the instructions to the mms.apk instead of the Email.apk that I replaced.
1.) Find the messaging .apk file from the rom of your choice. Usually in /system/app/ folder.
2.) Connect your phone to the computer and move the mms.apk file you retrieved from the other rom to the root of your sdcard.
3.) Backup your current mms.apk with Titanium or manually copy it to another location on your phone.
NOTE: You may need to backup your phone settings so you can restore your launcher after clearing cache in the final step to avoid having to replace all of your home screen icons.
4.) Using Root Explorer or Astro, copy the mms.apk copied to your sdcard into the folder /system/app/ to replace the current app.
5.) Return to the home screen. At this point you should no longer see a messaging icon on your dock.
6.) Go to Applications->Settings->Applications->Manage Applications
7.) Clear the cache on the TWLauncher Application.
8.) Return to the home screen and you should now see the email icon has returned to the dock.
9.) Restore TWLauncher settings with Titanium to restore home screen icons that were removed in the cache.

Would this also work if I wanted to replace the stock sms/mms messaging app on the latest cognition rom and replace it with something like Handcent, Chomp or Shady?
Hello Everyone.
I have installed the MoDaCo_FR7_Gilgamesh_Edition_0.7.1, but here is only the standard (NON nice dialer) installed, but would like to have the org. dialer from LG for test purpose for videocalls, have root explorer installed on the phone, mount R/W then copy contact.apk to /system/app folder and reboot, then the phones says. no phone installed, installede the org. LG phone.apk then I got alot of FC.
maybe something in the framework? is it possible to install LG Dialer on the Gilgamesh edition?

Emoji Keyboard
4.2 keyboard
Extract the apks from both zips and put them in your phones system/app, be sure to change the permissions.
And also put the lib files in the system/lib and change the permissions.
I didn't flash them in recovery as I don't have a recovery installed, if you have a recovery installed you can try to flash them, though I wouldn't recommend doing so as I don't know if the zips will work on our phone.
If you do want to install it in recovery I highly recommend making a backup.

You go into settings, then language and input.
Tick the boxes for the android keyboard and iwnn ime keyboard.
Go in the settings of the android keyboard and then scroll down to the bottom and go into advanced settings and tick the box that says switch to other input methods.
Set the default keyboard as the android keyboard and after that disable the xperia keyboard then reboot.
After that your keyboard should now be the default aosp keyboard and everytime you press the globe it would turn into the emoji keyboard.

Created a zip based entirely on spasticdroid's previous zip for Lollipop Google Dialer. Just updated the Dialer and Contact apks inside to the latest versions for Marsallow and also updated the frameworks file for them to function properly.
Same as his; you can either disable or completely delete the stock Dialer or Contacts or, if you prefer, you can have two different apps for Phone and Contacts.
[Important]After flashing, you must go into "settings > apps > gear icon (top right) > Default Apps > Phone App" and set the new Google Dialer as the default instead of previous Moto Dialer or the inCallUi will not function at all!![\Important]
Download links in the attachment. All credit to spasticdroid for doing the heavy lifting I just moved some files around.
Confirmed working on both odexed and deodexed based roms! If you experience any problems make sure all permissions are turned on and and clear the apps data and cache.
(Only update the GoogleDialer.apk)
