Is there a way to update the modem/radio on the Bionic? I have see several posts regarding the 901 upgrade but it looks to be the only one available. I have a friend that has a Samsung, he has almost a dozen different modems availble to him. Thank you!
Yes, only way to update the radio is through the OTA or leaked methods.
How do you find out which modem your phone is using? I have rooted mine and am running Eclipse 2.0.

Here's a step by step guide. Do your research before diving in:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1455888
Thanks! It worked. One note I would include is that when you flash a new ROM the System Version will revert back to 5.8.894.XT875 even though you have 901 installed.
Ok so I'm still very new to all the Droid Rooting scene and I have a question.
I want to flash Steel Droid 9 to my droid but it says it is updated to 2.3.7 base. Do I have to update my android to version 2.3.7?
(currently 2.2.3)
Are you using a stock ROM? You might want to follow the Cyanogenmod Full Update Guide for the Motorola Droid in orde to change ROMs.
Replace instances of the cyanogenmod rom to the steel droid 9 zip you have.
And no, you don't need to update your current Android version to 2.3.7 as the ROM takes care of it.
Disclaimer: I haven't tried flashing to a Motorola Droid.
Good luck!
These are Original Official Motorola Firmware Files, and must be flashed with device in AP Fastboot mode.
They will restore Original Firmware/stock rom and can be used if the device no longer boots correctly.

Great idea, this was a missing thread in our section.
I can suggest you these two things:
indicate BMM as alternative recovery, with BMM we can save our space in internal or external memory installing a second system in the unused partitions (/preinstall and /webtop) without creating any virtual slot
indicate the JBX-Kernel Hybrid for the Razr as working alternative kernel for the Droid 4

Hi guys,
This post is about GSM user cant send SMS on Droid 4 after flashing KitKat 4.4.4 and Lollipop 5.0/5.1 (AOSP or MOD).
Cause:
According to me, who can't send SMS after flashing KitKat 4.4.4 AOSP or Lollipop 5.0/5.1 AOSP has forgot to patch file "Patch CDMA to GSM for Android Global Phones v 4.1.5".
Basically, Droid 4 is an original CDMA phone. So that we have to patch file "Patch CDMA to GSM for Android Global Phones v 4.1.5" to use it well on GSM.
Solution:
Follow this instruction in links below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2394689
or
http://www.internauta37.altervista.org/how-and-patch-fully-enable-gsm-verizon-cdma-phones-android
I've tried and succeeded.
Hope it can help someone.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for anything that happens as a result of flashing these files. Your destiny is your own.
Stock Motorola 4G KitKat ROM Collection
The goal here is to offer easily flashable versions of Stock Motorola KitKat ROMs. All ROMs are based on Stock Firmware Images.
Each zip contains ROM and Kernel only. Bootloader will not be changed.
First boot can take a while, don't panic.
Untouched Version:
Nothing removed, nothing added. Pure Stock.
Optimized Version:
Stock Kernel | Debloated | Zipaligned | Rooted | Busybox | init.d Script Support
OTA Updates Disabled | Non-essential Motorola Services removed | More RAM available
'Cast Screen' Enabled | Post-install zipaligning (Darky / Fly-On Mod™)
MultiROM Compatible | Improved Battery Life | Lock-screen rotation
How to flash:
1) Boot into latest TWRP and Format Data (Wipe > Format DATA > Yes) - This step is essential, and will wipe Internal Storage (Downloads, Music, Photos etc, **backup important files**)
2) Transfer ROM to Internal Storage. This may be done in Windows via MTP, or using adb sideload or adb push ROM.zip /sdcard/
3) TWRP > Wipe > Factory reset and flash ROM.
4) Reboot.

Recommended Settings:
All Animations speed: 0.5x (Changed via Developer options)
Wi-Fi Sleep policy: Never. (Changed via Settings > Wi-Fi > Advanced) - Check Battery stats occasionally | some Apps will force Wi-Fi to be always on
Bugs:
When flashing, I get the following: "E:Error executing updater binary in zip"
This is a custom recovery bug. Try restarting recovery and flashing again. Alternatively you may need to format /data (userdata) in Custom Recovery. Note: this will delete anything on internal storage - photos, music, videos etc.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What is this Collection?
All of these ROMs are created from the Motorola 4G Factory Firmware images. A pure source, unlike a dump of an OTA Updated system; the upgrading process patches, moves or deletes system files. The result is possibly bugs being introduced, and files being left over. These ROMs are completely clean, and any bugs you find are genuine Android issues.
How to turn off Lock-screen rotation?
This setting is a built.prop edit. Use a text editor with root access to open: /system/build.prop - remove the last line, or change to 'false':
lockscreen.rot_override=true
What is 'Zipaligining' | Post-install zipaligning?
Zipaligining
It makes app use less RAM. Longer answer.
Post-install zipaligning
Newly installed apps are zip-aligned after reboot. This process occurs only once per app, as a database exists in /system/usr. When an app is updated, the new apk will also be zip-aligned and added to the database.
This will probably make some xda members happy, so thank you even if i won't use KK roms :good:
You don't talk about the bootloader, i've always thought that getting back to 4.4 after updating (through OTA) the bootloader to LP would brick the device, am i wrong ?
If i'm not, you may add a warning (and a big one lol) because xda flashing junkies unhappy with LP will flash these without thinking about bootloader :silly:

These ROMs don't touch the Bootloader - there is zero risk.
Full collection now available. Optimized ROMs include updated System and Google apps - along with all the features listed in OP.
Edit: Nevermind....clicked the wrong thread.....
Hello!
I decided to test out the ROMs. My Moto G 4G (XT1045) has the latest bootloader, 41.1A.
I downloaded both the untouched and optimized Retail ROMs. The untouched version works fine, but the optimized version does not work at all. Once I finish setting up my Wifi and gmail, a text box pops up mentioning that the setup crashed. It is then stuck and I can no longer progress forward with the optimized ROM.
Hope this was some help.

Can you rotate screen at that point and go back or skip? It's most likely a Google Play Services issue. Maybe try skipping all WiFi and Account setup. I will upload a new Optimized ROM asap.

I forgot to mention in my post of what you just mentioned: I tried to skip the Wifi Setup, but the same problem occurred. I also tried skipping the Account Setup, but that didn't work too. I pressed the back button, but it did nothing at all. I can not rotate the screen at all, and is stuck at portrait. I gave safe mode a shot, and it was the same result haha.

For that you need the 4.4.4 Recovery. Attached.
However, if you want my opinion; use fastboot to flash the XT1045 5.1 Factory Firmware Image. You will have less bugs and better performance. For the best experience possible, flash one of a Stock Optimized ROMs. XT1045 Optimized available soon.

XT1045 Retail US 4.4.4 (Optimized) v1.0a is now available.
Changelog:
Restored: Original 4.4.4 Launcher
If I went with your suggested option I would not receive the boot loader upgrade, I'm doing this method for that reason only. Thank you for providing me with the recovery file and stock 4.4.4.
I will only be using stock long enough to receive the OTA, then going back to custom ROMs.
(I will be performing a full backup through fastboot before and after OTA)

I had never seen that firmware thread posted in the falcon section. Thank you for that Link. However I had already used up all of my data downloading 4.4.4 xD

Alright, I downloaded and tested the new version out. I was able to get to the home screen this time. Now the problem I have is that I'm not able to sign in with my gmail account. I attempted to do it during the setup, and I tried to do it after skipping the setup. Both does not work, and a text box pops up saying that the "Google Account Manager" has crashed.

Unfortunately, this version does not resolve the Google Account Manager problem.
I was able to grab my logcat, but I'm not able to attach the txt file on here.
