HTC M7 on stock 5.0.2 Vodafone UK - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I am new to this phone as I got it as a hand me Down. It has alwasy been on stock and it has been updated to 5.0.2
It is with Vodafone UK carrier but has been unlocked as the contract was fully completeted

HBOOT- 1.61.0000
RADIO-4T.35.3218.16
OS-7.18.161.2
Ultimately I would like to unlock bootloader, rooted, custom recovery, s-off and then install a generic/non carrier rom of my choosing (prefer stability and new fully working features rather than latest unstable)
Not interested in Paid only solutions,, I am happy to do the long /dirtier work free with no problems
A few questions first?
do all the same guides work for loliipop? as they were written/updated several montsh ago eg. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38933080&postcount=1
also trying to register https://www.htcdev.com/register/ tells me the connection is untrusted???
I'm led to believe that once boot unlock, root, custom recovery is acheived....
Is it right to tthink that s-off is possible with RUMRUNNER http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2488772
Many Thanks for any help

Sunshine is the only thing that will S-Off hboot 1.61 and it's $25
But you do not need s-off to flash roms, you have the most current firmware so just unlock bootloader
flash TWRP / Root and Choose a Rom

[Q] Recommend appropriate RUU to install stock ROM for HTC One

Hello,
I'm using HTC One which was initially locked by 3 network (UK) and i got it unlocked last month. I have unlocked my boot-loader and rooted my phone recently. My phone got updated to android version 4.3, after the upgrade i tried performing S-OFF using REVONE but i was not able to S-OFF my device. To install a custom ROM i have to be S-OFF. I have to revert back to stock android version. Could anybody please suggest me which version of RUU should i use to install stock ROM to my device?
I have HBOOT version 1.55.0000
I don't know what is it but when i start my device in boot-loader mode these are all the information i could find:
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-ON RH
RADIO-4A.21.3263.04
OpenDSP-v32.120.274.0909
OS-
eMMC-boot 2048MB
I have relocked my device and all set to revert back to stock android version. please help me to find correct version of RUU to use for my device. I'm totally new to all these ROM stuffs and if i have mentioned some technical terms wrong my apologize guys.
Thanks in advance.

1- relocking was not the wisest decision, better unlock again
2- to install custom rom, you only need unlocked bootloader and custom recovery. S-Off is NOT needed
3- to get s-off on hboot 1.55, use http://rumrunner.us/ (with compatible ROM, I think ARHD 31.6 should work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023)

use latest TWRP (2.6.3.3 or above), i believe CWM hasn't been updated for 4.4 ROMs yet: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173870
verify MD5 of twrp before flashing!!
TWRP should work, maybe need to format. I always use the HTC One Developer Edition RUU zip that can be found on HTC Dev site as well as the numerous threads around XDA.

[Q] All roms going into boot loop

Hey guys been going at this for about 14 hours
Story
flashed amazing android hd 3.1 thinking i had 5.1, when i realized that, i downloaded 5.1 and flashed it. Seemed to work except as soon as phone began to boot i got a pink screen followed by the htc and beats audio screen (logos were different colors) at this point it wouldn't do anything else.
I rebooted and went in recovery (twrp 2.6.3.0) and wiped cache, tried re flashing and same thing so i went in twrp (im a nweb haven't done this since i had my hero) formatted the data. Yes everything was gone no OS to boot from so i tried using sideloader but it wouldnt go past start up process i resorted to using adb, i pushed the amazing android 3.1 rom and flashed it. everything seemed to go fine. Seemed to boot, when i went to unlock the screen to set the phone up it just rebooted, it kept doing that over and over. Installed insert coin rom and did the same thing. idk what else to do :/ tried loading stock ruu but it gave me a fail message (cant remember what it was)
I never made any back ups as i didnt care about losing any data
Would appreciate some help guys
Im on mac and windows 7

thanks, im about to give it a shot
good morning lol
ok since im on s-on 4.06 do i skip this?
If you are S-OFF flash the 3.04 s-off firmware or 3.05 s-off firmware or 3.05.651.6 s-off firmware or 4.06.651.4 s-off firmware and you are done. If you are already on 4.06.651.4 you will have to flash the 3.05.651.6 s-off firmware first...reason being is the 4.06 s-off firmware does not have the latest radio included (use the same commands from 5.)
1.Download the 3.04 s-on firmware or 3.05 s-on firmware or 3.05.651.6 s-on firmware or 4.06.651.4 s-on firmware
2.Rename it firmware.zip (put the firmware.zip into the platform tools folder or the folder attached below)
3.Boot to bootloader
4.Lock bootloader(fastboot oem lock)
5.Then use these commands:
and go straight to this?
7.Then unlock the bootloader again and re-flash TWRP 2.6.3.0. (before formatting go to setting/screen and disable screen timeout)
8.Within TWRP 2.6.3.0 select Wipe > Format Data(it will ask you to confirm by typing YES) once done adb push a rom to your phone (adb push nameofrom.zip /sdcard/ ).
8a. If you are using the 4.06.651.4 s-on firmware I would suggest you push this Stock Rooted Odexed Rom to your device or it may not boot.
8b. After flashing the 4.06.651.4 rom you will most likely need to flash the latest radio because the 4.06 firmware does not have a radio included find it HERE
9.Optional but recommended: S-OFF using Rumrunner or Firewater
10.Win lol
:') thank you so much
Im about to do revone then flash amazing android hd google experience 6.1
Is there anything i should be doing to avoid this again?

[Q] HTC One m7 unroot and relock boot loader help

Hi, I have a HTC One M7 that i received from a relative from Asia. I unlocked the bootloader using htcdev website and rooted the phone. I also installed TWRP custom recovery on it and that's it. I really never installed any other ROMs. After a few months of using it, it would reboot constantly and i had to do wipe out everything and do a factory reset then it'll be fine. But after a few months, it'll do it again. I'm tired of this and would like to unroot and re-lock my boot loader so i can also update using OTA from HTC. I read somewhere that all i need to do is relock the boot loader and run the appropriate RUU executable for my phone. The problem i have is i don't know which RUU to use. I went to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428276 and saw a bunch of M7 RUUs but which one should i use. None of what i listed totally match what i see there. All i know is this phone is from Asia. Please advice...

In the About phone, here's my current info: Android 4.4.2, HTC Sense 5.5.
AFAIK there is no RUU for 4.20.707.6
Since you have a TWRP installed, what you can do is :
1. Make a TWRP backup of current ROM
2. Download and install my 4.20.707.6_stock_odexed.zip : http://sourceforge.net/projects/htcone/files/4.20.707.6_stock_odexed.zip/download
3. Download the 4.20.707.6 stock recovery : http://sourceforge.net/projects/htcone/files/Recovery/STOCK/4.20.707.6.img/download
4. Fastboot flash stock recovery
5. Reboot and check for OTA ... you have to do two OTA update
a) 4.20.707.6 to 5.12.707.3
b) 5.12.707.3 to 6.13.707.1
6. Done ... optional to reflash TWRP and do whatever you want to do.
No need to relock bootloader
Good luck ... will check this thread tomorrow ... my bed time now
worked great!
Followed your instructions and it worked great. Thanks.

HTC One M7 (M7_U, HBoot 1.57, 4.4.3 and region htc_la_spa) Root and Off Question

Hi all, I searched the forms but still have issues so please bear with me. I have HTC One M7 with following information,
M7_U
HBoot 1.57
4.4.3
Region - HTC_LA_SPA though i purchased the phone in another region and a little confused about this.
S_On
I have already unlocked bootloader using HTC dev and now want to gain S_Off and root it. I just want to know if this region and this version i.e. M7_U has some different instructions to gain SOFF, flash some CWM recovery and root. What is the safest method on this path. Can any one point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

The M7_U is identical to the M7_UL apart for the lack of LTE so there is no difference for achieving root, unlock or s-off.
Btw the only method to s-off hboot 1.57 is Sunshine which cost 25$. Don't ask for another free method, there is none.

I would recommend that you go with TWRP instead of CWM. CWM will do the job but TWRP is the most used recovery for the M7 and much convenient to use imo.
https://dl.twrp.me/m7/
To flash a recovery use these commands with the recovery file in the same folder as your adb and fastboot files
Code:
fastboot flash recovery file_name.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Thanks all. I have now soff, root. Installed a recovery and took backup. Though i have not gone for a custom rom yet. Will search here and try out ROMs

Boot loader unlocked and S-OFF

Please, I don't have a pc. How do I know whether my boot loader is unlocked and also whether my htc is S-OFF.
I know this about the phone: it's a HTC m8; it's a Sprint.
I also got this by pressing the power button and volume down: M8_WHL PCT Ship S-OFF
EBook_ 3.19.0.000
Radio _ 1.09.20.0209
I know I am rooted because any app that request root access, my superSu usually prompt me which I usually grant.
I am using kit Kat 4.4.2 and want to flash custom Rom like cynogenmod and or Marshmallow.
Please, help. I will really appreciate because I don't want to brick my phone.
Thanks in advance.
You should flash TWRP recovery first before you can flash any roms
Thanks. But my challenge here are: how do I know if my boot loader is locked or unlocked. And based on the information I provided above, do you think I already have S-OFF?
You already have the answer in the first post. You are S-Off. In the bootloader menu you should see in pink whether or not the bootloader is unlocked. It should say LOCKED, UNLOCKED, or RELOCKED. If you are unlocked you need to use fastboot to flash Twrp, and then go from there.
Search is your friend. This is a nearly dead device as it is from 2014. But there is a wealth of information available, and I'm using it myself at the moment as my LG V20 is currently out of service. Lineageos 14.1 running with zero issues at the moment on sprint network perfectly.

You have S-OFF you can update by flashing the RUU from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173&page=312
If RUU fails or gives errors, you will have to extract rom.zip and flash it in "fastboot oem rebootRUU"
If that also fails or gives size too large error, you will have to flash latest firmware (in the same link), then try again.
You will not be able to use your phone or RUU if your phone doesn't boot after flashing firmware (I suggest to flash the modified one). But don't worry you can flash any custom rom or flash rom.zip from bootloader

As I said above, in the same menu where you see all that information it will also tell you about the status of your bootloader. It will read either LOCKED UNLOCKED or RELOCKED. Either way, with S-off your golden and basically able to do whatever you want.
