When unlocking the device, the screen is completely empty (sometimes) - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Good evening.
Yesterday I (unfortunately) decided to update to Lollipop, and did a factory reset.
Now, sometimes happens that when I unlock the phone, I can only see the wallpaper and nothing else. I can only reboot the phone, otherwise I can't do anything.
Is there a solution to this? Another factory reset? Something went wrong during the update?
Thanks in advance

Anyone no how to hard reset the Galaxy S

Hi anyone no how to hard reset the Galaxy S..?
knowyourcell.com/samsung/samsunggalaxys/galaxy-s-guides/498616/how_to_hard_reset_the_samsung_galaxy_s.html
Don't know it that works
tried the hardware method didn't work.
u can do factory reset by settings->privacy.
Or you can try *2767*3855#
I'm also wondering how to factory reset!! (yes I know it's in Privacy) but it keeps telling me cannot reset because clear service is not available
1 Select call.
2 Dial *2767*3855#

did you get any solution for this?
my i9000 says the same "clear service is not available" - none of the suggested solutions works for me.
the reset option in privacy worked for me. my firmware is jf2, by the way, if that matters..
Try this
Shut your Android Galaxy S down (Power off) or remove Battery.
Now press Volume up, Home and Power together.
If the Samsung Symbol is comming up leave the Home Button.
Then there is a boot Menu
Volume Up and Down to Navigate , Home to select the choosen option.
Regards Christopher
thanks man ,you made job easy.
Isn't hard resetting just removing the battery?

no
hard reset, means something like FORMAT the phone, and restore the backup from Factory
If the phone has already been rooted, will the hard reset "unroot" it, so that you need to reapply the rooting procedure?
depends... to my best "guestimate" if you are on stock official ROM, chances are yes, you'll need to unroot again.
if you are using custom ROM, then it'll revert back to the clean state of the custom ROM you installed
i've not yet had the need to hard reboot, i'll find out in the near future
I just did a hard reset because I want to send my unit it for replacement.
How can I tell if the device is still rooted? I want to make sure they don't see any sign of rooting.
Edit:
The post below explains the unrooting procedure:
http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/showthread.php?t=2812085
But, where can I get the "odin3" for my phone which I bought from Optus Australia?
So the factory reset didn't unroot the phone?

Correct. It doesn't. After the wiping of data, it rebooted and presented the option of running the update.zip thingy, which I did not choose. Yet, it is still rooted. I could still see the icon called user permission. I can still install the screen capture program that requires rooting.
If you want to unroot, you probably have to use the procedure in my link above. The problem is I don't know where I can get e Odin3 file for Optus Australia.
My firmware details are as follows:
PDA I9000DTJF3
Phone: I9000DTJF3
CSC:I9000OPSJF1
When we unroot, this Odin3 thingy is to refresh which portion? All three or just one of them?
I just noticed that after hard reset, my music, video, pictures are not erased.
Isn't this strange?
^^ My internal SD card was wiped clean. Shows 13.43 GB total space and 13.43 available space
Will doing a hard reset reinstall all of the ATT features that were removed after rooting?

[Q] HTC One M7 - Noscreen lock/off after Android Lollipop update

Hello everyone,
I received an OTA update last night for my phone for Android Lollipop. If I had known better, I wouldn't have updated it.
Since the update, my screen doesn't timeout or lock, it just restarts. If I press the power button to turn the screen off, it restarts. I can either shut the phone off completely or keep the screen on, which obviously kills the battery pretty quick.
I tried doing factory reset already, issue is still there. I tried wiping cache partition, same issue.
At this point, I would really like to downgrade to KitKat. Is that possible? And if so, how? I'm on a Vodafone UK contract. My phone is not unlocked.
Any other solution that might help. I don't know what else to do. Please help.

sounds like your phone is broken ..return it if it's Locked and never rooted
Finally fixed
In the end, I had to unlock the bootloader, root the phone and flash a customer ROM (Android Revolution). It worked! Now, I can finally switch my screen off without the phone restarting!
Thanks,
Rose

you also lost your warranty in the process. If it had not worked you would have been stuck paying for a repair
I'm happy it worked out for you

Upgraded to Nougat - Phone froze on reboot, forced to wipe data. HELP!

I have a stock AT&T G6, got it when the phone first came out, and I haven't touched the firmware. Update after update, no problems.
Finally this morning my phone had enough - I performed a system update. However during the reboot, the phone froze for 30 minutes on the AT&T logo. Nothing changed.
Reset phone, nothing changed, 15 minutes no change. Reset phone to recovery mode - wipe cache - reset phone. Same thing - stuck at AT&T logo.
Finally I had enough - I did a full Factory reset. AT LAST! After 8 painful minutes stuck at the AT&T logo, my phone came to life and welcomed me to my new phone (FML).
So here I am with a freshly loaded copy of my new Nougat 7.0 software on my AT&T Build ( NRD90M.G920AUCS6EQF1 ) and I am desperately trying to run every possible data recovery option possible.
I WANT to recover my photos and SMS messages before I start using my phone. But I can't - every app I've run shows no results. Everything I'm seeing shows I need to root this phone to make it work.
Unfortunately I have no clue htf to do that. Every instruction I find online does not include my build version. My phone is turned off and not used until I recover this data. I would appreciate any help I can get in recovering this data!

No known root for current builds to my knowledge. Don't know if anyone is still picking away at it, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Development on this device has been almost silent for many months.

Mi A2 WiFi doesn't work at all, even after factory reset

Hey!
I don't know if this is the correct forum, but I hope so.
So, after having a few troubles getting the A2 to work with root and so on everything seemed to work until a few random apps didn't work at all (they crashed as soon as you opened them). After trying to solve the problem (and failing) I thought a factory reset would maybe be the best idea, now that I know the way to root it and so on.
But after factory reset the wifi doesn't work at all. It "searches" for networks, doesn`t find anything and if I finish the installation and manually want to turn the wifi off and on afterwards I can see that the wifi connection is turned off and if I press the slider it goes on and then off immediately.
I tried flashing the stock rom with the xiaomiflash-tool, tried to factory reset it on both partitions, but as soon as it boots and asks for a WiFi-network it can't find anything at all.
I hope somebody can help me.
There is the possibility that I did something wrong the last days and destroyed something because I probably tried too much compared to my knowledge (which isn't much at all), but maybe somebody can help me...
Thanks in advance!
im with the same problem
flash in edl mode

pixel 4a5g bootloop issue with locked bootloader

Hello,
My pixel 4a 5g started bootlooping suddenly. I can go into fastboot but I can't do anything since I am having locked bootloader. Is there a way to unlock bootloader without booting into android? Else is there any other way to solve the problem! I tired factory reset option inside Recovery and also flashed OTA update using side load option but it didn't helped.
Don't bother with fastboot if all you want to do is a factory reset. Boot to Recovery and do a factory reset from there.

I already tried that but no luck. Still its going to boot loop.
Any help!
This happened to my Son's 4a5g about 3 weeks ago now. It just happened out of nowhere and likewise the bootloader was locked so couldn't use the flash tool. It would look like it went through the factory reset but right as it was about to get to the welcome screen it would bootloop again. I reported it to Google but as I predicted they just suggested taking it in to a repair shop and with it being out of warranty it would be a lost cause. Somehow, he kept force-rebooting the phone over and over (unbeknownst to me) and one day he got it to boot and got to the setup screen. 3 weeks later it is still going as if nothing happened. So weird. I think something may still be wrong with it somewhere but first thing I did as soon as he got it set back up is to turn on OEM unlocking in settings.

Update: 8/5/26. The bootlooping got more frequent and I'm pretty sure it's dead now. *Sigh*
I used this website to correct the issue. worked great
