Xposed finally working for lollipop 5.1.x - Android One (First-Generation) Cross-Device Genera

I am pleased to inform all of you fellow Android One users that the xposed framework is now finally working on our lollipop 5.1.x devices. The most recent alpha 4 build is tested by me and it's working perfectly. Here's the link to the thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3072979
Just follow the instructions by the letter and you'll do just fine.
First you need to install the xposed-sdk22-arm-20150514.zip and then without booting into system clear the dalvic cache. Now boot into the system, install xposed alpha 3 apk from the thread enable desired modules and reboot.
Let's enjoy tweaking our phones with minimal chances of permanent damage. Cheers.
NOTE: If you have any problems post in the original thread as he's the real developer. Although there are many many people posting there so it'll be a nice choice to also post your queries here and I'll try helping out as much as I can.

Works well though, yet some tweaks give bootloop. But then Gravitybox works well..

I have another update to make.
Using this method, xposed is also working on pac ROM and other CM based ROMS. So users not on stock can also try this.

In an effort to keep Xposed questions/issues out of ROM threads since Xposed and/or a module related issue one might have; is not the fault of the ROM you are using and therefore shouldn't be asked in those threads. The devs have better things to do than read thru non related ROM issues.
Xposed for L is currently in alpha 4 (the apk says alpha 2 for now on; look at the zip file date) and it will work on the G2 albeit with some help; and I don't mean being rooted since that's a given. Before installing Xposed we need to, re-name/freeze LGCover in the priv-app folder and LGWeather and LGWeatherService in the app folder. P_Toti explains the issue here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=58879600#post58879600 and here https://github.com/rovo89/Xposed/issues/27
Spoiler alert; Looks like he has a RC G2/G3 TweaksBox working for us. Post #4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53618487
After LGCover, LGWeather, and LGWeatherService are re-named/frozen head to the Official Xposed read-only thread I know a lot don't like to read, but if you plan on using this, you should read the whole OP. There's also a discussion thread that is a mess unfortunately, however there is valuable info in it, especially post # 2.
If you are one of the many that don't read before flashing, you can disable LGCover, LGWeather, and LGWeatherService thru adb after you realized the device won't boot properly. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=59929667
I don't know what modules work and/or don't work. I only try them for testing purposes. You might be asking what modules work/don't work and don't know how to search. Well, I've found 3 threads to help you out. List of devices able to run Xposed on Lollipop , [Unofficial] List of working Modules for Xposed on Lollipop, and the one that helped me narrow down what should work, Xposed Lollipop compatible Modules
Since I don't/won't use Xposed, I am no help on how to use 99.9% of the modules, however there are many here that use them and can help. The XDA Community Apps has a link to the Xposed Framework Modules that can help you out with specific modules.

question on xposed framework?

Will the xposed framework work on a root android one phone? Specifically the gravity box mod? Has someone installed the xposed framework on a stock android one rom?
My phone is kind of a daily driver, so just checking to see if some one already has done this and their experience if any.

Thanks guys. Based on feedback went ahead and rooted stock ROM. Got xposed installed and gravity box running.
Did not loose data as I did not unlock boot loader. So app data remained, which is what I wanted.
Overall, I would recommend anyone with this phone to go with xposed framework.
What are the other modules that you guys are finding helpful apart from gravity box?

Working well on the N6!
Proceed with caution guys! Already in bootloop city (totally prepared and exiting it now, expected as much) Just letting everyone know for those of you who are excited about this - this is NOT Xposed like you are used to, not yet as modules have not had any possible chance to catch up. If you are not ready for serious bootloops, stay away from this for now lol

Framework isn't causing bootloops. but many modules it seems do as obviously none have updated to 5.1 given the nature of this release being super alpha as well as unofficial. The framework itself, the part romracer hs given us here, appears to be running well - just wanted to warn users who have been waiting (im)patiently on Xposed for 5.1 that you can't just jump back into modules.. bootloops on bootloops here experimenting

I would specify but I've been bootlooping since this was released messing with File Manager in TWRP and then when I could get into boot looking at Xposed logs for fatal errors.. all I could see between bootloops is that Youtube AdAway causes fatal errors (not the one giving me bootloops though - I was able to uninistall before the bootlooping got to where I couldn't ever boot and had to restore). Also, I can confirm Always Correct! causes keyboard to FC non-stop and renders it unusable. I am not sure which module caused Play Store not to open and which caused bootloops, probably multiple. I thought I'd be able to spend more time booted and so I loaded a few modules after I took a backup and decided to mess with the Xposed logs and TWRP file manager like I mentioned, but bootloops were more than I anticipated so I just restored a backup and installed Framework for now.
Edit:Apparently 4/4 Banks gapps I updated with this cause Play Store FCs. My luck I'd upate extremely stable gapps, update SuperSU, backup, flash a super alpha and have issues with the gapps. Let's try this again...
Now it is time to test and embrace the bootloops!
Anyone found any modules working thus far, or will EVERYTHING need updaed to 5.1? I tried a module that still worked from KitKat when Xposed upgraded to Lollipop without upgrading bu it doesn't work now.. not sure what to make of that. Nothing else I've tried works either, but that not working (Always Correct!) seemed notable to me for that reason. Curious if anyone else is having any luck - no issues with framework I can see and logs appear to be running normally FWIW.

Has YouTube AdAway been updated already somehow? It was the app giving me fatal errors in my logs earlier when I was getting bootloops and FCs. On Nexus 6 here, Benzo ROM Hydra Kernel
Great news.
@romracer
Thank you for Xposed for 5.1
Tested modules:
GravityBox LP - bootloop (bootloop solution, delete com.ceco.gravitybox folder from /data/app/ via TWRP)
Play Store Changelog - Play Store 5.4.10 FC's (delete app data does not help as on Android 5.0.2)
Xposed GEL Settings - bootloop (bootloop solution, delete de.theknut.xposedgelsettings folder from /data/app/ via TWRP)
BurnToast - OK
CrappaLinks - OK
Lolistat - OK
Does anyone know if Amplify module works? I won't be able to install the 5.1 xposed version, but I shall soon
btw @romracer, I believe you mentioned in the xposed github that you have a Moto X 2014. I do too, so I can presume that xposed will work on the device?
I had disabled all modules from the the Xposed Installer before flashing, yet for some reason when I flashed I got stuck in a bootloop caused by trying to load some long ago enabled modules.
I forgot to make a copy of the logs, so what I wanted to say is that you can delete/rename /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/conf/modules.list to get out of bootloops caused by modules.
Obviously, this won't help if the framework itself isn't compatible with your ROM/device.
Working:
- Lolistat
- OGXposed (To login with OGYouTube)
- Advanced Power Menu
- YouTube Adaway
- Crappalinks
- Burntoast
- Maxlock
- MinMinGuard
Not working:
- Xposed Gel Settings
- GravityBox
- Amplify
- AcDisplay
All i know for now.

If you are brave enough: backup your current device and give it a try.
EDIT: in my opinion it is rather meaningless to ask for Android N support yet, as there are at least seven month until a "final" release will hit the market. If the current Xposed version doesn't work, there will be no need to create some workarounds, as the current version is more or less a preview of a preview and there are lots of code-base changes to be expected. I guess it will take some more month until a valid support will be established.
I'm brave enough. Also foolish, because the only superuser I have been able to achieve won't let me r/w to system, so I can't install modules. And even if I could, odds are that all but the simplest modules would fail.
Regardless, it didn't boot.

The new android has many Gravitybox stuff, so I can live without Xposed I think...
so?
Tried last night.
The XPosed SDK23 checks for proper API Level upon installation - and refuses to install if you're different.
TL;DR: If you're not on MM, the MM installer won't work.
I modified the zip script
and removed the api check. The resulting system dies at dex (compiling apps, including systemui). However there are websites claiming the Universal Systemless Xposed Installer will work on Nougat if you first flash Magisk and use the Material Design Xposed Installer (not to be confused with Materialized module) and phh's Superuser apps in place of Official Xposed Installer and SuperSU! I am about to give it a try on a Nexus 6!

Guys... That would never work. If it did, what's the point of SDK versions?
Just like when Marshmallow was released, SDK22 would NOT work whatsoever on 6.0. same if you go back another version using the previous version of Xposed.
Don't try to install it, as it just bricks. That's why the API checker is there.

Sadly those websites are bogus clickbait to generate ad views. (Apparently) I can confirm that flashing Magisk on Android N causes the bootstrap to fail without even flashing Xposed yet. I even tried playing with the install flags. Sorry everyone I'll continue to investigate other solutions.
To those who said it is stupid and pointless to try what I did: Tinkering and breaking the rules of common sense are how many advancements have been discovered. Your posts are negative and unconstructive, nearly a violation of XDA rules. Please try not to be so abusive for the sake of the community.

But honestly, you're just bricking your device by flashing the wrong SDK version. If you want to begin porting it instead of messing with the install script to the Xposed for the wrong version of Android, maybe contact RomRacer. He ported Xposed to 5.0/5.1 before Rovo released an official version, so he can help you out maybe, but you need permission from Rovo to release a working version.
Good luck.

Unfortunately, Android Nougat will be the only Android version that will not support Xposed. This is due to the fact that Nougat is a delicious, but creamy thing, that glues together all command lines when melted.

Thanks for responding. Actually I can't install Xposed the way you did it (i.e. by installing the application) because my phone is not rooted. So the Installer can't mount the /system partition as rw and make changes to /system/bin/app_process. That's the reason why I have to flash it's zip file through the custom recovery (TWRP in my case). So I was looking for a zip file that would be stable for the given specification of my phone. As not any version can work with any phone . I downloaded a zip from github but that was meant for SDK 21 and above . In fact the Installer that you used, does the same changes to the /system/bin/app_process, just by having root access. Anyway, hope one gives me a link to that zip.

I am using KitKat v4.4.2 My Xposed is v3.0.1 by dvdandroid 26/11/16. The link in the first post is for an earlier experimental version? Is there a more up to date of Xposed for me?

You're referring to the Xposed installer app (by DVDAndroid), not the Xposed framework.
Xposed Framework for KitKat has no updates. No development on that front for a couple of years.
As far as the installer app goes, there's no need to update that. Later versions of DVDAndroid's installer may support KK but not sure there's any benefit to updating.
Best to ask in his thread.

@The-HAWK,
I haven't forgotten about this.
The UNITY all-in-one Xposed package (framework, installer app, tweaks) says it supports KitKat and above.
After work I'm going to see if it does work with KitKat on my LG G3.
Oops, forgot the link.

EDIT: Nevermind. KitKat compatibility was a typo according to the dev. *Sigh*.

Good luck with the exams. ?
I mentioned that KitKat compatibility of the UNITY Xposed package was a typo. It is for Lollipop and higher.
