I rooted the phone using towelroot and it seemed ok but then i tried flashing the kernel... any ideas why the flashing failed?
Thanks in advance
Why would you use towelroot when you got easy root method by the dev of doomkernel?

Because TowelRoot is easier to use.
OP, have you made sure that the bootloader of your device is unlocked?

Hello all,
I ran into quite a problem earlier today - the power went out while I was updating my Xperia SP from ...254 to ...207. Now the phone isn't booting, just flashes a green light when pressing the power button.
* The BL was unlocked
* the phone was rooted
* DRM is lost as I don't have a backup anymore
* I can enter both fastboot and flash mode (vol+ or vol- +power)
* now Flashtool appears to be stuck at about 2-3% of flashing kernel.sin file and it does the same with all TFTs I tried (254, 201, 205 and 207)
** I forgot to add that when the power went off, it was at the same step just began as it is now when it's "stuck"

Help please!
Nevermind, managed to revive it using the "repeated unsuccessful attempts" method. For some reason it went past that kernel.sin lockup when I connected it to a USB port in the back... :highfive: to me!
Hey guys! First time posting there.
Few hours ago i full wiped my Xperia SP with TWRP. I checked all boxes in Advanced WIPE.
What Can i do now?
After connecting to PC it turns on and stuck with DoomKernel screen.

It's because you don't have a ROM installed! Flash the kernel again via fastboot and goto CWM recovery while the phone boots and flash a ROM
Hi,
Sorry for the "might-be-a-noob" question, but I'm facing a dead end.
I'm trying to use the flash tool (version 0.9.18.5) to flash my stock Xperia Z1 (kitkat) to Lollipop using an updated rom that I acquired from the flashtool. I go through all the steps fine and I connect the device to my laptop in flashmode, which is detected by the flashtool. But then, when I select to flash the device, it end up with the below log: (I already enabled unknown sources and USB debugging)

I need to know what is wrong? - thanks!
Did I brick it?
So my sweet old SP seems kinda in between the kinds of bricks I find on this forum, so before giving elaborate background stories, this is the condition my phone is in after attempting to flash CM12.1 (first time doing such things which was probably what went wrong):
Without power cable, turning device on gives one short buzz, volume up + power button the same and a blue flash volume down a green flash. Thats all they do, black screen and no signs of life afterwards.
Now with power cable connected to my PC and powering up while holding one of the volume buttons it is recognised on the PC (unknown device in the device manager). I downloaded FlashTool, which whined about drivers but those couldn't install for some reason, so I unpacked the installer and manually installed what I thought were the correct drivers.
Now FlashTool sees the device connected in FlashMode (curiously disconects and reconnects every minute) or Fast Bootmode (whatever those mean, I'm a noob and yeah I hate myself) but I cant actually flash anything.
Is there hope? Or did I screw up?
Thank you very much for even reading my pathetic plea.
Have you tried using PC Companion to restore your phone? Maybe your phone doesn't have enough charge, that might be what's preventing Flashtool from working properly.

I'll try it, but when I started flashing I had 100% and last time I (could) check it was still around 90%.
UPDATE: Charging makes green led burn, also I find it strange that PC companion didn't recognise the phone as being a phone either

My phone unrooted itself? :crying: Can I even root it again without a functioning OS on it?

My phone unrooted itself? :crying: Can I even root it again without a functioning OS on it?

Try on another PC with another cable. Preferably on Windows 7.

Somehow this did the trick... I could update the drivers directly and everything just worked.
Many thanks!
Hi everyone.
I'm really confused about this. I'm trying to downgrade the firmware on my Z3c to then go on and root but I'm stuck at the very beginning.
I installed Flashtool and the drivers (had to deactivate driver signature verification for them to install correctly, but now all of them are installed). I installed the Sony PC companion with the support zone addon (not sure it makes a difference).
I downloaded the firmware from 2 different sources.
Developer options and usb debugging are on.
I charged the phone.
I tried with the latest Flashtool version anb the previous one.
But all the times I get the following error message. It basically starts printing out stuff and after a few seconds it says error, aborted. There is no other error message and this really drives me crazy because I have no idea what's wrong. Searching online results in people asking for help when there is at least another error message.
In this case there is nothing.
In the log below, note the time for every message. In the phone nothing changed, it still boots up normally with the 5.1.1 Sony firmware.
I even tried to change the usb cable but it's always the same.
It would be great if some of you were able to pinpoint the source of this problem. I've had and loved this phone for the last few months and I finally decided to root it, but being stuck at the very beginning I'm kind of disappointed at the process.
Thanks

Which version of flashtool are you running? I have been unable to flash with version 0.9.18.6 or above
You might want to download the old version of flashtool and try again, see if it works on 0.9.18.5. If you are unable to find it I might still have it on my PC.

You know this is the Z3 compact thread?
I am just wondering why you are trying to flash firmware for an Xperia C
I would start from the beginning and go through this great guide here. Once you have a copy of your TA partition and your bootloader unlocked, try and flash again.
I am facing errors in flashing z3 are there solutions to flashtool errors win 10 32bit
