I'm a maintainer for PAC-Roms, and was trying to see what (if anything) could be done to port these features to custom roms. Has T-Mo added the features to AOSP? Has anyone attempted to compare the AOSP images vs the T-Mo images?

not in aosp, yet at least. and no factory image yet. but itll probably take a version of tmobiles blobs to get volte working on the new radio, and probably wifi calling as well(if it doesnt get put into aosp).

Could the system image be extracted from the OTA?

Will wi-fi calling work if you're rooted? I have it enabled and set to wifi preferred. I'm on stock image with stock kernel. only thing is I'm rooted.

This is a rooted ROM built off the official HTC Sense/Froyo v3.21.605.1 release (pulled from signed RUU), which has been rolled out by Verizon via OTA, which got taken apart by me and baked for Cricket.

You must be rooted, have nand unlocked and be running a 2.x radio. Follow dadicus' http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=760651 guide for details on how to perform these steps.
Perform a nandroid backup of your current ROM, in case you change your mind or encounter issues.
Apply the zip via Clockwork Recovery. It has not been tested with any other recovery.
If you are coming from another completely stock ROM (i.e. Sense 2.1 or 2.2), you may not have to wipe data. I obviously recommend wiping data (since it will eliminate any possibly bad/stale configuration), but the update script will not do so automatically during installation. Use your best judgement to determine what works best for you.

let me know how it works out !! MMS and proxy should be already baked in, so no need for my flash, but if it doesnt work, flashing my flash should resolve it.

Autostart/u2nl did not load? I get 3g activity but no apps/web seem to actually work where they did before. I will try reloading autostart/u2nl in a bit.
Edit: autostart is not listed in superuser
my current boot.img in this rom had the wrong ramdisk and thus isnt running the script, ill have it updated in abit, have the boot.img ready to go just need to pacakage it and reupload it, going to add back in the stock apps i removed, except the VZW ones as well and the lockscreen for those who want it.
** EDIT **
updated download link with my current modifications and added back the apps i removed, download link is updated.
RC1
Flashing RC1 now! Will let you know how it goes.
As cool as this is, I see this as a big no no for people who have lost or stolen phones.
My phone was stolen last Sunday, the ESN is blocked for Verizon. Now all some crook would need to do is flash this rom and sell it as a Cricket phone...

As with everything there is always a bad part. As in your case. However I know people that had to close their VZW accounts cause they lost their jobs and went with cricket. This rom can help them. Thanks OP.

I installed RC1 and all looks good so far but I had to install the stock kernel to get the wireless tethering to work. I will update you as soon as I know something else.

All a crook has to do is take ANY stolen CDMA phone into a phone flashing store and get it working. Actually, I think you can take any CDMA phone and dial *22807 and have it activated on your cricket account.
thanks for the info, ill try to talk to kingklick and see if he can incorporate that into his kernel for wifi teathering (i think its kernel related at least)!!
As far as wifi/3g ill have to look at that, i dont use wifi at all so easily missed that

Im sorry to hear that
As far as stolen phones, as stated previously, if someone wants to get it activated there are many other means to activate it, all of which have to be done at the hardware level (PST Settings), this rom just sets it up for people who legitimately run on cricket to have the correct settings.
My suggestion for you though would be to contact your local law enforcement agency if you suspect somebody activated on cricket and to report that information to them, so they can follow up with a subpoena to see if the ESN is activated and registered on their network and help track down those criminals!!
Good luck and hope everything works out for you.
token don't forget the metropcs folks!!!
possibly flash the v3/3.5 fix after installing your rom or that would be too easy? actually I did a wipe than tried your custom rom and wifi wouldn't work???
EDIT: I flashed the rom of your roms orgin than changed the necessary settings in qpst as per drunkenmojo's original guide followed by metroapn than a your metro v3 flash and everything is ALL good on my INCREDIBLE!
Thanks again for the original metroflash!
I hope you are able to continue development of this rom. My son is wanting to get an Incredible for Christmas, but he is on Cricket. He loves my phone and can't wait to get one and this will help him get it going.

I'll try and help as much as I can! I came straight from Windows Mobile and still learning on these Androids
Also, when I'm done using the tethering and shut it off, it kicks me off of 3G and I have to reset the phone to use 3G again.
Doesn't flash properly if coming from the NS4g_v.5 Rom
Caution: I am not responsible for you messing up your phone. what works for me may not work for you. use at your own risk
******YOU MUST WIPE BEFORE FLASHING.******
Special thanks to Netarchy for letting me use his kernel. Dsixda for his kitchen.
This is a bone stock fresh compiled 2.3.4 eng rom for the nexus s 4g (d720) only.
What does work:
Most everything if you flash Netarchy's kernel.
3g
4g
Wifi
Camera
Camcorder
Touch Screen
Bugs.
Roaming indicator off showing up on lock screen and drop down menu.
Sprint update in setup menu force closes.
I will be trying to implement some CM features as soon as i get permission, and resolve some of the build issues. and broken features.
Enjoy.

Alright thanks
Wi-fi tethering works on all the custom ROMs like CM and Resurrection Remix. Built in, you just need to turn it on.
There is now a major gap in the app market for a free tethering app
I used to use barnacle. It was great. But since the release of Lollipop on the latest phones (from 2014 onwards) barnacle and apps like it that used ad hoc beacons that were compatible with Android 4.2.2 and earlier versions are no longer compatible with the latest Android versions. Its a shame. I too am constantly on the lookout hoping for one that comes up.

You are not going to find stock with volte enabled for Z1. The changes are required in Android source, as well as in modem. In addition, most carriers only allow volte on their own devices.

I asked because there seems to be a bug of some kind with VoLTE with T-Mobile's network and all Oreo ROMs. I don't know enough about it to know how one could have anything to do with the other, but modem/radio files might be to blame.

i can say i have only gotten volte to work on the stock motorola rom. no nougat or oreo roms other than stock. i even extracted the radio from the november update and flashed it to my aicp install but it just left me without signal until i restored an old efs backup.

I had VoLTE on a number of Nougat ROMs--e.g., AICP, Omni, Validus--but never on Oreos; however, the latest Omni & Pixel Experience Oreos at least give me WiFi calling, which also wasn't working... so I've got that going for me.

nice. i dont use wifi calling so i wouldnt have noticed if it works or not on my aicp install. i would guess that oreo might not play well with the nougat radio and we are using a generic or modified radio in the newer roms.

Have you posted to the Telegram group? The only provider that's still having the issue is Jio, but that's been ongoing. I can confirm FireHound has VoLTE on T-Mobile US.
