I know that the resolution of SGT is 1200x1024
but I still found that images in this size is still a bit blur after being set as wallpaper
I definitely sure that I've crop the whole image while I set it as wallpaper
This is the original wallpaper I downloaded, and the attached one is my home screen, showing that the wallpaper is a bit blur

Is there any solution?
I just still know it from the Nook Color,
there the resolution was 1280*1024,
and if I used Wallpaper Set and Save there was no blur.
The gallery has that issue, don't use the gallery to set the wallpaper. Grab QuicPic from the market, it's free, fast, awesome and sets wallpapers without any issue

As you guys might have noticed, whenever you set a wallpaper using the default android gallery, it kinda compresses it and results in a low quality version of the pic as your wallpaper. I've found a workaround for this by using apps from the market to set my wallpaper with BUT all of those apps can only change my homescreen wallpaper and NOT the lockscreen wallpaper.
So my question is if any of you guys can tell me how to manually change my lockscreen wallpaper? I have a rooted device 2.3.5 btw. Thanks.
Menu-setting-display-screen display-lockscreen-wallpaper
No, I know how to change the lockscreen wallpaper. But like I've said, when you use that way, it lowers the quality of the picture you use. If I use a hi-def photo and set it as my lockscreen wallpaper, the quality loss is very obvious. Which is why I was asking if there was a workaround for this.
When you're about to change the wallpaper and the square box pops up, tap it and expand it.

no, that's not it either. regardless of how you crop it, if you use the default gallery app, the resulting wallpaper is compressed thus the quality loss
get a suitable hd wallpaper from the internet then save picture to gallery. When you set wallpaper to lockscreen choose gallery, find pic you have d/l and crop it accordingly. Remember to get the highest resolution wallpaper.
Hope the above helps

+1 to the question!!!
I wanna use the same wallpaper on the lockscreen & on the my launcher. I choose the picture, set it up as my wallpaper - in the laucher it's absolutely ok, but in the locksreen there are a lot of strange lines (bright & dark) over the wallpaper.
you need a wallpaper of atleast 1600*1000 resolution. If you can find one with an even higher resolution, better still.
Just follow instructions of my earlier post

Of course I have a high-res wallpaper!
But the quality is much worse on the lockscreen than on the launcher's homescreen.
Maybe light wallpapers are ok, but the dark (like mine) is laggy.
anyone knows where the default wallpapers are saved to? cant seem to find the default lock screen wallpaper (of the pen and notebook)...
low resolution for a purpose
do you think the lock screen uses a lower resolution for a reason. that screen basically is displayed for just a few seconds and kinda floats on top of an already high resolution main screen. just a theory that it's supposed to be lower quality graphic.
You can use Quickpic which is free on the market to set the lockscreen. I don't see any reduction of resolution.

again guys, the issue is not with the cropping or with the image quality i'm using. it's with android gallery app compressing the picture i want to use.
@holgalee
thanks, that was exactly what i was looking for!
How about WidgetLocker? A guy posted a screenshot of his completely black background that didn't have any of the ugliness many are reporting of. But it costs money, and i don't know how you feel about apps that cost money, but you're holding a device that cost almost $1000
same problem here.
tried to have a black background on the lockscreen.
tried with a 1200x1600 bmp, png and jpg...
always the same ugly green and black stripes
none of that with galaxy s1 and s2, just with the galaxy note
what can i do to have full black background? dont want to use crappy alternative lockscreen, want to use the native android lockscreen
It won't help with a 5500x3500 wallpaper as long as the default gallery app is compressing the image. It will still look like ****.

I had the same issue on my S2; completely stupid really. Now I have my lockscreen wallpaper automatically change when I modify my [active] wallpaper.
The Gallery app needs to be fixed.
It's still crap on the note 2, anyone who's found a solution?
If it is the black clipping problem? Note shows lockscreen wallpaper a bit darker than normal wallpaper so theres possibility you only notice it on lockscreen.
Found one that looks okay so i am using that
If i try to choose a picture from my gallery as wallpaper , it gets cropped.
How to stop images from being cropped and make the original size image as wallpaper.
The ideal wallpaper size for our phone is 640*480px. If you have a 1000px+ wallpaper, Android has no choice but to downsize it first and then crop it.
You can do it manually with an image editing program such as GIMP (free) or Photoshop. Downsize the wallpaper to the ideal size maintaining the ratio.
I think he is talking continuos wallpaper?

Hi everybody. In this period I'm using a touch wiz ROM and I love its launcher, but sometimes I would like to disable the scroll of wallpaper. When I had my HTC hd2 I downloaded a lot of portrait wallpaper that I would like to use, but with scrolling the effect is horrible. Is there any way to have an option for disable/enable scrolling like other launchers? Eventually there is a mod to disable it?
P.S. before asking I tried to modify the apk by myself, but it didn't work well anymore. I'll try again, but meanwhile I would be able to disable it.

In my case, when I choose a pic from GALLERY (very important, choosing from quickpic for example won't bring same options) to take like wallpaper it shows two "modes", portrait and landscape. I choose portrait and the wallpaper don't scroll. That's on la completely stock rom XXLSZ.
I haven't tried but asume choosing landscape wallpaper will scroll...
Regards.
thanks for your answer, but unfortunately didn't work for me. i tried both portrait and landscape image types, but is always scroll. and with a portrait pictures on lateral pages are visible black stripes, so nothing to do at the moment.
on ICS i remeber, if i chose a wallpaper of 800X1280, it doesnot scroll..

Mine is 1000 x 800.
I don't know if that brings difference.
not sure,, but the height should be 1280 and w=800
I think the resolution need to be a minimum of 1600 x 800.. Try finding another wallpaper at that resolution and try it..
thanks alot for your multiple anwers, but none of them worked. the last thing i can do is trying to modify launcher following madijni giude, but i'm not so good, so tell me good luck
Hi All, i want to explain my "problem". I use Nova launcher every day and when i want to set same wallpaper for lockscreen and home screen i need to do it with the gallery because the oneplus wallpaper picker can' t be used. Now if you see in my screenshot the wallpaper in lockscreen seems like it has some imperfection in color and resolution, but in nova home is perfect ! There is a solution? Now with this wallpaper the problem isn' t really evident but with lighter wallpapers the result is horrible... Hope in a solution
If I understood correctly, I have the same problem with Nova Launcher: it seems the wallpaper gets scaled once you set it, no matter if it matches your screen resolution or not, generating artifacts.
