After spending countless hours on this website, I've come to the inescapable conclusion that the only way to root an AT&T Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900A) with an OTA install of KitKat 4.4.4 NL1 is to:
install a downgrade to a stock, rooted N900A KitKat 4.4.2 NC2 ROM
then install a stock, rooted N900A KitKat 4.4.4 NL1 ROM
Towelroot and KingoRoot don't seem to support NC2 or NJ5 ROMs from what I understand. Safestrap v3.75 and ODIN v3.10 seem to be the only two ROM flashing tools that will work with all versions of KitKat for the SM-N900A smartphone.
Would someone definitively state for the record what the most direct procedure for rooting a SM-N900A smartphone with an "official" OTA install of KitKat 4.4.4 NL1 is, please?
Thanks in advance and kudos the xdadevelopers for an indispensable web site that is the BEST, period.

Unless of course he updated prior to the root method thread created.
In either case, it appears that with the oc4 bootloader you can downgrade to root. Look for the Downgrade lollipop thread.
root for Galaxy s5 G900A ?
Could you use odin to flash the stock NDE kernel and then use towelroot to obtain root then flash the 0C4 kernel back ? I used a similar method when i was on 4.4.4 ,any feedback on this, thanks.

Hi,
Will we get a chance to root our S5 active with 5.1.1 on it in the near future?
Hey how's it going finally upgraded from a Galaxy S4 (rooted/safestrap/rom) to an S5 after almost 4 years.
Trying to root and load a custom rom on Galaxy S5 G900AUCU4BOF3 the guides say to first downgrade to OF3 that is on Android 5.0 (which is what I am on) to a pre-rooted OF3 - would I be safe to try to run Kingoroot or towelroot then use Chainfire to load a custom ROM without flashing a pre-rooted OF3 first?
Thanks
Nevermind figured it out guys thanks anyone who looked.
