Is it true that this phone will not have official CM support in the future? I've heard something about developers bandoning this project.

The developer who worked on it doesn't have the device anymore. CM only allows people who own the device to maintain official support. Which is why it was removed for now. If any other developer steps in, official support will return
I was wondering why there are no stable releases available here: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=memul&type=stable. Shouldn't there be at least one, if this is (was) an officially supported device?

WHEN WILL CM14 SUPPORT MIX ? the production of MI MIX is so difficult, only few people own this phone, will cm team still get this phone official SUPPORT? how so u guys thinks ?
First step was done because there exist an official twrp recovery.
Be patient...
Highly doubt there will ever be official support, especially as the reason they're calling this a 'concept' phone is that they intend to release a high production evolution of it early next year, if it sells well over the next month or so. Either way, it'll be discontinued quite quickly.
I'm sure someone will at least try to do unofficial CM14 though. It already has TWRP.
Looking to get this phone. Are there any stock android roms?

As far now only ROM for this device is MIUI with brightness bug and volte not working.
But devs are working to get fully functional CyanogenMod, therefore you can expect to get CM 13 for this device in near future.
But a custom kernel named 'Qassam Kernel' is available developed by Brawn_Sg and his team.
What would it take for a developer to be able to release a Lineage/CM type ROM for this phone? Do you guys think it is a possibility in the near future or will this never happen?

Source code for starters is probably helpful, and that might take a while with xiaomi....

I've experienced that with the Mi5, Cyanogenmod builds came very quickly after Xiaomi released the kernel sources. I'm also waiting for them, this device would be so much better with Lineage OS, or anything other than a MIUI rom, although the EPIC rom is getting fairly close
You can follow the official github for xiaomi devices here: https://github.com/MiCode/Xiaomi_Kernel_OpenSource
Mi5 owners also did a petition though, asking Xiaomi to release the kernel sources for the mi5, maybe we should do the same for the MIX ?

Right but its not a true build. It's using the sources that were released for the Mi5s.
Guys sign the below link for petition for santoni kernel sources must be released https://www.change.org/p/xiaomi-dev...m_medium=copylink&utm_campaign=share_petition
Plz sign the petition if you guys want that the kernel sources must be released.
If kernel sources aren't released yet, how is it possible that there are some custom ROMs already out there?

Dude without kernel sources the devs cannot build or modify custom kernels. Else it has nothing to do with roms as the rom sources are ported from lineage or aosp sources and modified accordingly. without kernel sources there isn't much room for kernel optimisation and modification for better performance or battery as the devs have to use the stock kernel of the device.
So those custom ROMs are using the stock kernel, copied from the original MIUI ROMs?

Yeah with few optimizations and changes.
Xiaomi / every android manufacturer has to release the kernel sources anyway, right? Is there an ETA, or how long does it usually take for a xiaomi device for the sources being released? I am considering buying this phone.
2nd question: rooting or unlocking bootloader goes with the manufacturer's page right? I checked it out and it was in chinese, me as an english user, will i manage to get the phone unlocked?
Petition is signed anyway. I also contacted the global service through mail asking about the REDMI4X32_GLB_BLK kernel source release. Will keep you updated if I get a response
Edit: I just ordered a moto g5 but will keep u updated if I should get any info from xiaomi support.
Edit2: Reply from the Xiaomi team:

Don't use it with OEMv9b
Is my SODP based LineageOS Port still needed or are the users moved to PixelExperience or the stock based LineageOS which both are official and receive OTA updates?
If yes, I will EOL the SODP based LineageOS port and focus on other stuff.
So xz2 got official Lineage os.Can we expect also for xz3?

Sadly to get an official LOS based on stock it is needed to own the XZ3 as a hardware.
Is my LOS port really needed?
Then we need to find a solution, I would like to focus on a single rom where a version for the xz2/xz2c/xz3 is needed and the xz2/c part is now replaced by the official supported & stock based LOS.
Just because I like variety and hate to reinvent the where if I build unofficial builds for a ROM where an official support exist.
There is also AOSP and the official Pixel Experience with OTA updates.
24.08.2020
Since we have now an official LineageOS based on stock, this ROM would be double work.
So I stop the LOS port.
(Sadly unless a dev owns a XZ2P or XZ3 these phones won't be supported in the official stock based LineageOS)
The only difference between the stock and SODP editions are:
SODP will get GCAM support later and has camera2API level 3.
stock will never support GCAM apps and has the limited stock camera2API level.
SODP uses a 4.14 kernel and probably get mainline support later.
stock uses the stock 4.9 kernel and will probably be there forever.
SODP targets to use as much open source as possible.
And LiveDisplay doesn't work in my SODP version.
PS: After the September exams in the new semester I look for a ROM replacement for the sake of diversity.
It's good to have a choice and with the available official supported SODP based Pixel Experiment, we have a ROM which sadly forces you to use the full GAPPS (Google Apps package).

I think it's still good to buy.
I bought the asia 6GB ram edition.
In the future it will be part of the mainline kernel, so it won't need closed source vendor drivers anymore, which makes it future proof.
