[Q] Galaxy S6 Camera APK? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone found a port of the S6 camera that will work on Nexus 6? Been doing some digging but haven't found anything yet and would love to have that camera app!

No there isn't one. A massive amount of work would be involved.

[Q]Samsung S4 camera software porting

Hi Guys,
some friends said me that also the S4 camera software has nice features.
It's possible, or it will, to port that software (as the Google camera) on our Ones?
Thanks
No it is not. S4 camera is deeply integrated into Touchwiz the same way the Sense camera is deeply integrated into Sense.
How about the google play edition of the samsung s4?

You can download that, but it's just the AOSP camera.
There's a leaked 4.3 camera APK floating around. Think I saw the link on Phandroid.

No, I mean the one in the Samsung rom.

Most of the good features are already on Sense PLUS he highlights reel and Zoe... there really isn't any reason to port it over. Everyone I know with an S4 said it pales in comparison.....
Unless you enjoy pasting your face on a panorama for some reason

When i saw the comparison video`s between the H1 camera software and the S4 , it looked like the S4 had many more options and settings to play with.
So the H1 camera software is better?

[Discussion] S-Pen and Aqua Mode?

So, I was going through the apk's and found images like used in the help tutorials about the S-Pen and Aqua Mode. What do YOU think it means? I'm going with Samsung got lazy and didn't remove them/plans on using the same APK's on future devices.
Maybe they are working on Note 4 and wanted to see how the apps and system would work together. #GN4

That's definitely what its for, but the s5 doesn't have it enabled, seemingly because of its screen resolution. I think playing with the DPI could get that feature "unlocked".

There's actually an s pen .apk on the system
Actually Samsung is notorious for being lazy...the code is littered with unused icons and things that can be turned on and off based on the device being detected.
S-pen will never work on the s5, you need a wacom digitizer like on the Note for the s-pen to work.

[Q] alternative camera app

So based on you're experience which camera app would you suggest? I am kind of shocked to find that the camera app is so slow. My Blackberry Q10 is very quick compared to my Turbo.

I really like the Google camera app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera&hl=en
Unfortunately on the turbo it still does have some lag. Hopefully that will be fixed with future OTA updates.
The main thing I like about Google's app is the option to take photosphere images and panoramas. I know the stock camera app does panoramas but Google's app allows for much higher quality images.
I have taken some really awesome images using this app.

Latest, 3.6.7 with permissions removed. Definitely works for me. Maybe restart too - sometimes it seems like camera apps can lock another out.

Thanks to everyone who posted. I actually really like both of those options and will probably use both. Anyone ever try any fisheye lenses?

Do you see this as well on your install?
Yes, those resolutions are correct for the Turbo camera (even though they say a lower MP).
The 5248x3936 is the same as the full 21mp (Standard) mode, and the 5248 x 2952 is the same as the 15.5mp (Widescreen) mode. Assuming that this is what your asking?
Exactly what i was asking. I figured it was cosmetic. Just wanted to be sure.
I will the first update might have sped up my camera. When I left the store it was slow, as I read about. Next day I searched for updates and got one. My camera is normal now. The only issue I notice is swiping to pictures from the camera, it swipes right away, then the screen "blinks" real fast. Might try a different camera to compare though.

Maybe I'm crazy but this seems to speed the shutter up a bit.

Perhaps more tinkering in the ladybug settings could help, or the ability to reduce mp size further?

Yep, other than the resolution displaying wrong it worked good too. I ended up installing the moto camera+ and taking a bunch of samples to compare the two, found it to not take any better pics than the moto camera + with the settings unlocked.

Help

I want to change my phone shutter speed. What should i do?
You cannot. Shutter speed and RAW shooting mode are supported on the S6 Active 6.0 Marshmallow, but Samsung did not provide them in the built in camera app. All the other galaxy s6's and the Note 5 got it.

You can use open camera, it supports raw as well. Get it on play store, and it's free. Great camera app.

The Samsung S6 Active has an issue where Camera2 API does not function properly. It's limited to 8MP and doesn't focus right.

I think I figured out whom I need to contact to have this fixed. Re-reading one of many support emails I have received from Samsung, I believe the issue is not something they handle. I believe it is AT&T's. I am contacting them right now, and so far my support experience has been 100x better. Maybe this issue will be fixed after all.

I hope so, and thanks for taking the time to push for something we all will benefit from. Hopefully they will fix this issue. We deserve the same options as the the other S6's.

Welp... I'm a good half hour in, and now they are telling me to reset my phone, and do a bunch of other stuff.
Code:
REDACTED: I believe the issue is just an error on the developer/team who manages the S6 Active's software updates.
AGENT: Probably.
AGENT: But I want to keep looking into this for you and see what we can do

It seem's AT&T actually doesn't manage the updates. I clarified my issue and the manager of the person I am talking to and I will contact Samsung about this issue. AT&T is just as confused by this as I am, so the manager of support will be emailing me directly so we can resolve this with Samsung.

It didn't work on my phone at first. I had to reboot the phone then it worked fine.

This works so much better than the stock HDR feature - it's actually one of the main reasons why I insisted on a Snapdragon model.
Does anyone know the video recording limit on this camera app ?

Also does it work side by side with the existing cam? I will be able to chose whichever cam I want to use?

There should be a download link on the post, it's right above the interview with the developer. Yes, I have them both installed on my home screen and they both work fine. Just install it like a regular apk.
Seems Note 8‘s camera works as well as google camera?
Is there somewhere that explains the differences in the various algorithms? I searched around but found only bits and pieces.
Also, it would be nice if someone could post which settings actually work for the Note 8. I tried a few and some wouldn't save and others
(I'm not a big camera buff and really don't use my phone's camera that much, otherwise I would.)
I'm seeing people state that the Google Camera is a bit better than the Stock Samsung one, but my experience is the opposite. Google Camera is giving me bad low light performance. I even used setting from the forums and was still subpar. What settings are you guys using?
I couldn't get this to work on my AT&T Note8 un-rooted.

Not correct. Works on Exynos too but if you try to make any changes to settings it'll crash. Only way to revive is by clearing storage from settings!
However I didn't find it significantly better than stock camera and night time/poor lit/dark conditions photos are definitely better with stock camera.
