has it been done? i have searched and searched with no luck
This is the wrong section. To post this but you have to downgrade to NC2, root with towelroot, install Busy Box, update SuperSU, and then flash the OC1 rooted update.

Hi Everyone
I have updated my note 3 to the lollipop version found on this thread using Odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/100-stock-lollipop-5-0-n900aucueoc1-t3069609
I'm now totally lost as to how i would go about rooting so that i can either flash a custom rom, or remove bloatware etc. I have rooted several devices before, but all the different note 3 models is whats got me lost and frustrated. My goal is to have safestrap (or something similar) installed, along with a recovery of some sort (cwm etc)
Does anyone have some clear and concise instructions as to how to root this device and flash rom's afterwards
Thanks for any help i get guys, sorry to be a pain

Odin back to NC2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54803130&postcount=136 Then root it, install Busybox and Safstrap. If you want Rooted Lollipop still "OC1 Stock Rooted Very Easy Procedure" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59666958&postcount=2 Safestrap is your only recovery, no CWM or TWRP it's an AT&T phone so the Bootloader is locked.
Thanks for reply
Just to clarify, if i follow the rooting tutorial here after downgrading back to 4.4.2 NC2 : http://galaxynote3root.com/galaxy-note-3-root/how-to-root-attverizon-galaxy-note-3-on-android-4-4-2/
and then follow the tutorial here for safestrap: http://galaxynote3root.com/galaxy-n...-custom-rom-using-safestrap-on-galaxy-note-3/
and then get rooted lollipop here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59666958&postcount=2
is that ok? (i know i need busybox also)
thanks

After you Odin the NC2 files install Towel root https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952593961 Supersu https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952593963 Busybox http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...p4H4Aw&usg=AFQjCNH5ysIfrnSRb2CyP0d2v1T3c3CicQ then Safestrap https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23991606952593962 Flash zip file http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59666958&postcount=2 To STOCK slot ONLY as any other slot could give you problems.
Wanted to know if there was a root out there for N900A Lollipop 5.0 yet. or if there was a way to restore back to 4.4.2 and then root and update to 5.0 been looking for an hour and not finding anything. if this has already been answered please post link and i will close thread.
You will need to downgrade back to NC2, then root with towelroot, install busybox, install safestrap, then upgrade to rooted Lollipop. You can find downgrade instructions/link on Walter White's thread as well as instructions on how to do the lollipop upgrade once you're rooted:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/update-procedure-lollipop-5-0-oc1-t3063760
I've searched and researched. I'm not finding a matching thread/procedure for my situation. I've never rooted before so I wanted to make sure I was following the right procedure. Thanks in advance for any help.
I'm currently running stock recently updated AT&T 5.0 N900AUCUEOC2. I don't care if I remove stock apps and I'd prefer not to trip odin if possible. Backups of all my files have already been done manually and I'm ready for a reset/wipe.
Is it safe for me to follow the procedure for oc1 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/update-procedure-lollipop-5-0-oc1-t3063760?
What is the difference between wipe and non-wipe tars?
Will it force OTA update to OC2 after I do root procedure for OC1? Will OC2 be rooted afterwards?
Is someone working on a procedure for OC2?
I've had the same problem and haven't been able to root. Someone should try to work on this I'm sure we're not the only ones
Ditto, Att note 3 running oc2. I've tried odin and a few one click programs with no luck.
Have anyone found a way to root OC2?
There are many posts explaining how to root. Unfortunately, I don't think It can be done while on lollipop. None of the popular root tools work on lollipop (kingoroot/towelroot). You have to odin back to NC2 (Kitkat), Root, install safestrap and busybox, then you can install OC2 in safestrap via a pre-rooted OC2 ROM or backup.

Hitmizzle, you summarized very well :good: - I also spent days trying to find a root method on OC2 but to no avail. Eventually I ended up restoring to NC2, rooted, then installed a pre-rooted OC2 as you described. I think the admin should bookmark your post so as to save much time for other people.
OC2 OTA
I'm running OC1 rooted and got a notification for an update which I assume is OC2. If I take that OTA update will I lose root on my device?

Yes, assuming the update doesn't fail. If you want OC2, there's a rooted OC2 ROM update at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2703006
I wanted to ask if there is a root for 5.0 yet without having to downgrade or using Safestrap ( I had no luck with safestrap nor with the downgrade). I was either hoping for something like towelroot for 5.0. Or even a custom rom with odin install.
I have a n500a, was running android 4.4.4 NJ5. I was trying to upgrade to android 5.0, and most places lead me to installing safestrap and busybox, which doesn't work on NJ5, so I was trying to downgrade to NC2. Now my phone won't start up. I CAN however get it to download mode. So my questions are
Where could I find a clean / stock NJ5 / NC2 firmware / rom? Most links I see are dead :/
Can I install NC2 or even android 5.0 directly by odin? OR do I need to finnish the downgrade / upgrade process? Most threads direct you to go to NC2 -> install safestrap / busybox -> install 5.0 through safestrap
Do I still need to worry about NOX at this point? It's currently 0x0, but I don't know if tripping it is something I need to worry about at this point, as it's far out of warranty.
Here's a post for NL1 which may help unbrick: https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/kitkat-4-4-4-n900aucudnl1-odin-tars-t2999317
thanks, popped those into odin and the phone is in a working state. Now to try an get it to rooted lollipop
the question now is where can I get NC2 / the tools to get busybox and safestrap and upgrade to 5.0. Link rot sucks
Unfortunately, I can't really help you further since I never had the n900a.
Did you try searching the general threads? There may be something obscure in there.
