Hi I just bought a brand spanking new Telus Samsung Galaxy S6 and tried using google maps for the first time, only to realize that it does not read out the street names (it only says "turn left", "turn right" etc)
Anybody know of a solution? I installed Google TTS service app and that still did not help

Does anyone else have this problem?
I've uninstalled google maps and had the default app restored and it says the street names. When I update the app again I lose the ability to have street names spoken to me while navigating.
The one thing I did notice was that I had to click accept for a "Beta" version.
Hi All,
I have searched and tried many solutions on the net and still can't get my Google Now to work. Every time when attempt to start Google Now, it tells me there is an network error. I have tried the below, and so far no luck, and it is very very frustration. Please help!!!!
1. Paused all account history and cleared out past histories.
2. Under Google Settings -> Search & Now -> Now Cards -> Delete card preferences
3. Deleted Google account on my phone and re login
4. Tried an older version of Google Now, login, then update to the newest version.
The funny thing is when I used my wife's google account, Google Now pulls right now. It seems like my google account is messed up? Thank you guys in advance!
just tried my google account on my wife's phone, and it gave me the same error. i really think something is wrong with my google account and i have no idea where it went wrong.
Buying beers for someone who helps me figure this out. It's really bothering me!
got access to Google Now with VPN to a UK server. think this google now issue is a location issue. I do seem to have problem wiping my location history. no one else is having this problem?
You could try spoofing your GPS to another location
After recently purchasing a couple of Google Home Minis I have realised that Google seem incapable of bringing their departments together to make the gadget work properly with Google Calendars. Its so embaressing as the Amazon Echo actually works better with Google Calendars .. go figure!! If anyone can offer third party integration suggestions I would be really grateful.
First thing I noticed was that if I asked for my appointments for today, tomorrow, January etc it completely ignores my all day events .... I'm in the UK and I found a workaround for this by setting the language in the Google Home app to English (United States), apparently the U.S.A get new software versions earlier, indeed after this tweak in settings the Google Assistant recognises and reads out all day events.
The above regional fix however does not offer a solution for adding an all day event. The Google assistant does not recognise ' hey google add a new all day event' it still insists on asking for a time and if you say 'all day' for the time, it does not accept - anyone have a workaround or solution for this?
One other very annoying ommission is lack of integration with Google Keep. If I access my calendar via web browser, Googe Keep is tightly integrated for lists and nots, yet the Google Home team who seem to lacking a single iota of common sense have completley ommitted the option to use Google Keep for notes, lists and shopping list. - can anyone offer a solution or workaround?
The last and equally as annoying is if I say for example 'hey google what are my appointments for January' the reply is something like 'you have 8 appointments in January, here are your first 3' - who at Google in their infinite wisdom decided that everyone on the planet will only need to hear their next 3 appointments? Actually beginning to think that the people driving Google Home do NOT have an single grain of common sense between them. - Anyone have a solution or work around?
There are some other gripes like when adding an apointment using voice I don't have the option of adding a location, which is very important quite often I find....
Apologies for long-winded post wanted to put it all out there in case anyone would like to share solutions, altertive solutions to Google Calendar or thoughts....
I second all you've said. No integration with G Suite calendars either. Had to return mine.
Greetings all,
I have an unlocked Note 9 (Model #SM-N960U1) I bought directly from Samsung that I use on the T-mobile network. I keep my schedules using Samsung's calendar app. When I attempt to add a location to my schedules more often than not the location can't be found. Apparently, my unlocked Note 9 is using "Foursquare" as Samsung's calendar maps search engine. Is there a way to remove Foursquare from my device, or at the very least select Google maps as the default for Samsung's calendar app?
You could always disable the app through adb commands
Clear Search
I haven't figured out how to get rid of "power by Foursquare" in the Samsung Calendar and make it go back to using Google Maps, but I did find a work around:
X out of the text in the SEARCH field
Select your current location from the list of pre-populated choices
It will let you switch from "Keyword" to "Address"
Then you can search for the address you really want
You should then be able to click DONE from the results
I prefer the Samsung Calendar widget since it has Transparency as an option but I guess I'll have to find a 3rd party widget that opens Google Calendar instead.
Good afternoon:
I've recently acquired the new Samsung Galaxy Watch3 (Bluetooth variant) and ever since then I have been trying to find an app to synchronize my Google Calendar events. The idea is to have an app with all the agenda items (just like the features that the app "Calendar gear" provides, however that one does not seem compatible with this watch). An idea could be to have a notification pop up to the phone so that it could be relayed to the watch, but I was wondering if any of you knew any app that could do the work. I tried searching the store, but nothing seemed to be compatible with Google.
Thank you for your attention.
On my watch I can see all the Google Calendar events in the Calendar widget, without having done anything to make that happen. The events are automatically synced with the Calendar events of my phone. On my phone I choose in which calendar the event is entered (usually Google or Samsung). Events of both are appearing on my watch. Trying to understand your problem - is this not working the same way for you?
The same for me. I did nothing to have the calendar events appear.
Good morning to both of you:
Thank you very much for your replies, I will definitely try using the native calendar app. Is the synchronization automatic once bluetooth is activated or does it have to be done explicitly from the phone?
Thanks again
The synchronizarion is automatic once the watch is connected to your phone.
