[Q] Recovery Won't install on Moto X - Moto X Q&A

When flashing recovery through mfastboot (file).img the bootloader says a variable is not supported.
it says.
I have unlocked my bootloader, and everything properly.
Is there any alternate ways of installing recovery without super user.
Every time i try to install recovery it says
<bootloader> Variable not supported!
So my question is how can I install recovery, because it says the install is complete but hte phone boots into the red triangle android when i try to boot into recovery.

Are you using the volume button to boot straight into recovery right after you flash your recovery? Do not boot up the phone. Fastboot your recovery, volume down to recovery and volume up to go straight to recovery or it will not stick.

[Q] OS X, flash recovery, Android-File-transfer

Hey,
Recovery:
I tried to flash a new recovery with OS X 10.10 + fastboot, adb. Unlocking worked flawless but I couldn't flash the recovery with "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and boot to it from boot loader. It says flashing worked fine and shows "OK" but when I try to boot into recovery from bootloader it reboots. My bootloader is 48.82.
Not understandable to me, "fastboot boot recovery.img" works. As did flashing the recovery with flashify.
But I still can't boot into recovery from boot loader, only from android power menu it works.
Android File Transfer
Works when I boot the phone into recovery but not when I am in android. Just gives me "No device connected"
Help very much appreciated,
Well, did you double-check the recovery image? Maybe it's corrupted or just OS X fault, and the thing about connecting the phone when booted to recovery, it's normal to not connect

I tried 3 different recoveries (including lucas) from the twrp thread.
Thing is I can boot into recovery when I selected "reboot" "recovery" in the power menu. It doesn't work from bootloader. Additionally I can boot into recovery via "fastboot boot recovery.img"
Cheers,

[Q] Moto G (XT1068) stuck on "Warning Bootloader unlocked" screen

I'm stuck on the same Warning screen, it is not a bootloop since the phone just seems to freeze but after a minute I get the windows sound as if you conected something via USB, but the warning screen stays, I've let it for hours and I've flashed stock roms. Even when you flash a no warning boot logo.bin the screen shows again even when mfastboot shows as succesful flash. Out of ideas now, please help

Can you be more specific...?
What did you flash...
Which rom are you coming from...
I dont know which exactly Rom was flashed at last (when this problem first occurs), because i have bought the phone in this condition.
I can boot into fastboot by holding Power+Vol- Button and tried to flash stock Lollipop or KitKat Rom several times. When the phone reboots in the end it still stucks at the "Warning Bootloader Unlocked" screen.
I can also boot into CWM Recovery by "fastboot boot CWM_Touch_Titan_v2.img". If i want to flash a zipped Rom from external sd the process aborts with "Cannot write to" "sdcard/clockworkmod/.last_install path".

Yes, i did or better tried it at least.
-> Trying to boot Stock Recovery ends with an Android lying on his back.
-> When i tried to install TWRP OR CWM Recovery the flashing process ends with "Mismatched partition size (recovery)"
-> When i try to boot into TWRP Recovery with the fastboot command "fastboot boot TWRP.img" my phone stuck at the teamwin screen.
The only Recovery i get to run is CWM (with the command "fastboot boot CWM.img")

"mismatched partition size" is nothing wrong, it is basically just saying, that the TWRP image is smaller than the stock recovery one.

But when the phone reboots into fastboot after this message, it still shows me the Stock Recovery, where i end at the lying Android...
When i click on "choose zip from /sdcard" (internal) in CWM Recovery i can just choose between the folders sdcard/0/ and sdcard/obb/. There is also something wrong and not how it should be, isn't it?

I've flashed a TWRP 3.2.1 on my Payton 8.0, but after reboot on bootloader i'm stucked on "fastboot mode secure", recovery, bptools and factory with red letters, unable to format, restore to stock rom, even enter on twrp recovery, i can only start phone, but without root even with magisk installed.

can anyone help?

Can't Access Recovery or Device, only Fastboot

Hello,
I deciden to install Android 10 Beta 3 then install a custom rom. I succesfully installed Android 10 Beta 3, and tried to install Magisk as told in here. After the patched boot.img step, my device stopped booting.
When I press Power+Volume Up or Down, it always goes to fastboot mode. I can't boot into recovery from fastboot, I can't boot TWRP from fastboot. I tried:
fastboot oem reboot-recovery
fastboot boot twrp.img
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
As shown in the image rebooting into recovery always failing. What can I do?
same problem here... were you able to fix it?
You might have to use the QFIL method to get your phone going again. Remember you MUST backup the EFS partition and anything associated with your phones imei and SN

这两个可怕的重锁码吓了我一跳,以为手机没电了。幸运的是,我找到了解决方案。你可能需要找个老股rec,跟着视频操作,不用拆机,重点解压。进入adb文件夹,生效

Hey guy,
My phone was running the rom "UL-ASUS_X00QD-ASUS-AOSP-17.0615.2005.25-1.1.1-user.zip" (downloaded from Asus Web). I tried to install the TWRP ver 3.3.1 unofficial and my phone was stuck on the fastboot mode only.
After a lot of searching on how to fix the issue, I didn't change anything and almost gave up, until I've read this thread.
My Asus Zenfone 8 flip is STUCK in CSC FASTBOOT MODE PLZ HELP!, RAW FIRMWARE ANYONE???
These are what I did to get the phone into the recovery mode:
1. Extract the rom zip file that my phone was running on.
2. Copy the file boot.img to adb folder.
3. On PC, at adb folder enter CMD, connect the phone then type
fastboot -w
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot recovery
4. After that, my phone can be booted into the recovery mode.
Hope you can solve the same problem as me.
Bye bye ...

Phone booting normally, but unable to boots into recovery

Hi my k20 pro in working normally, means it boot like normally does, bootloaders are also unlocked, but when i trys to flash recovery via adb, it flashes normally, but when i try to boot into recovery it goes into fastboot mode, boot into recovery command also dosent work, i tried with latest twrp "twrp-3.5.2_9-0-raphael.img" and some old versions also.
tried flashing orange fox recovery also, but no luck, the only method via which i can boot into recovery is adb command "fastboot boot recovery.img"
Flashing recovery in TWRP when you fastboot booted twrp works or not?
