I am patiently waiting everyday since they announced 253 but till today I still got no prompt from it. Any Canadian get prompt to update your firmware?
How do I know which country my unbranded Xperia Z is? If I want to use flashtool to update my rom, which one should I use?
Thanks everyone for reading and to help me out.

First, what model do you have? 6603 or 6602? Do you have root? Did you unlock your bootloader? I am in mexico and I received my update for the 6602 one week ago
You can download any FTF and flash it via flashtools, if you want stock, if you are in custom rom with UB you will always be able to update manually and never lose root
Hi folks,
Sorry if I ask something that has been asked before, but I could not find the answer.
Is a different file version used in PC companion than in the flash tool (Emma)?
What I mean is, would using PC companion update with a country / region specific Xperia SP 4.3 file, and Emma with a general world wide version? Or would it be the same region specific file?
I had only problems with 12.1.A.0.266 FW after upgrading using PC companion (I tried twice), and have now downgraded to 4.1.2 and rooted it - after unlocking Bootloader.
I was thinking of trying 4.3 one more time, but using Emma Flash tool this time...
Hi,
Really couple of quick questions... I have read the tutorials on flashing stock firmwares, I have got all the software downloaded (Xperifirm and Flashtool). I just want to debrand my phone (i.e. no O2 apps and no O2 boot screen).
I have picked out the Customized UK Unbranded firmware 23.0..1.A.5.77.
My current firmware is O2 Pay monthly UK 23.0.1.A.5.77
Does anyone see any forseeable issues with what I am about to do? First time flasher of Xperia phones - I have been a Samsung shill for far too long!
Kind Regards,
Neil

Hi,
I've also got the phone on O2 pay monthly and considering flashing the generic UK firmware. Did you use the links on the firmware thread to obtain the UK one? The links seemed to not work when I tried to download.
Have you read about creating your own flashtool file (ftf) for the current firmware? I would advise you to do so before getting rid of the O2 firmware as a backup ftf. You can repair the phone using the Sony PC companion and that would download the necessary files to create the ftf.
I have used couple of Xperias before and have always used flashtool to flash different firmware many times. The consensus regarding warranty and flashing seems that you do not loose the warranty in doing so and I have hoped it is so in flashing the other Xperias.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately this was not a successful attempt. I got the firmware using the app Xperifirm and decrypted it and created the flashing files in Flashtool as per instructions in another thread. I could not get the drivers to work correctly for Flashtool to function correctly however. Once I got to the flashing stage and Flashtool asked me to power down the device, I would then hold down the Vol - button whilst putting in the micro USB cable and it would fail instantly, first saying the driver was not installed and then after a lot of fiddling that the loader.sin would not install and again fail straight away. After a couple of hours of messing around I gave up.
Win 8.1 x64

Am I right in thinking that you downloaded this firmware when you posted about it back in 2015? If you did and you still have it would you be able to send me a copy? It seems to be unobtainable now from the internet.
Kind regards
Simon
Hi,
device : Z1 software 14.5.A.0.242 Active customization 1276-5845_R3D - SFR FR layer - bootloader unlock not allowed
I already tried to do it with, I think, brick result (message update failed with logo on black screen).
This happens during I try to downgrade to 4.4.4, probably due to bad ftf file (not for SFR layer).
Fortunaly, I reached to recover it at the last lollipop version with flashtool and the correct bundle.
I not competly newbie but I'm not an expert too.
So, if I understood correctly :
1 - If anyone can help me with details on how to proceed to downgrade to 4.4.4,
2 - Then root (I think I could do it alone because I did it once), but as it is a long time for me (already lost one day with this try), so help is welcome.
3 - Install recovery system
4 - Then install a pre-rooted lollipop version.
Thanks for any support.
Device: C5306,
OS: 4.12.
Past status: no sim lock and bootloader status: YES,
Current status: sim lock and bootloader status: NO
In Short
I have a rooted device with no sim lock and bootloader status: YES, but after flashing ftf, I got sim lock with bootloader status No
I wanted to update my OS so i downloaded this (12.1.A.1.201_GENERIC ftf from this stock ftf thread). I mistakenly flashed the C5303 ftf on c5603 with flash tool and the flashing process ended with system sin processing error.... .
after doing some search, i found that flashtool version is the reason so i try again with flashtool 0.9.18.6 version and This ftf flashed without any error but on booting the device, My phone get sim lock with Boorloader Status: NO.
Right now, I have no idea of my original customization version,,, I have no backup except a ta backup of my device....
does info like IC, SI, S/n, FCC id on the back of xperia sp can help me to solve this issue.....
Please help
Use Xperiafirm (it should be included with Flashtool) and look for the C5306 firmwares (there are like 4 of them). Use the generic one if none of them seem to be your original one.

Thanks for the reply
Flashtool (0.9.25.0) doesn't work for me
I m using Flashtool (0.9.18.6) and Xperiafirm versiom 5.2.7 but Xperiafirm doesn't show Xperia SP in its list.
Update: In a panic, I flashed the PCT branded ftf , which includes the simlock.ta and flashing process gives error after flashing it.. Do you think this is the reason of simlock and Bootloader status No...
Can you help to download the correct ftf for C5306 using xperiaFirm.......
Update: Xperia SP is removed See this
Please help me
Ugh... If Sony removed the phone from their servers, your only hope is looking for a C5306 firmware over the Internet. There was a thread with almost all of them over here but I don't know if those ones are still up.
About the "sim-lock": yeah, the wrong firmware probably messed with that on your phone. Now, I don't have any idea why your BL allowed status changed from YES to NO, though.
