Hi guys,
recently my wife's phone's USB is not working properly.
When plugged to the charger, it does nothing. When plugged to the computer, neither. When rebooting with the USB cable connected, only then detects and charges. When shutting down the phone, it reboots.
I looked at the connector and it is clean, I don't think it's broken if after rebooting it detects it, so a software problem... but it's only my guess.
I tried with another battery, and with another usb cable, nothing!
I'd make a factory reset, but I fear that this won't solve the problem and we will have to reinstall all the stuff... I don't want to flash a custom recovery to do a backup if not necessary becouse of the binary count and for if I need to take it to the shop...
Do you know what could I try?

Hi Everyone,
I was running GR-11 last night. My phone started acting weird so i decided to reboot it. When it shut off it didnt turn back on. I hit the power and still nothing. I was eventually able to get into download mode with a combination of usb and buttons without battery. So i flashed back to stock. Still the same problem, if i turn the phone off i cannot get it to turn back on unless i pull out the battery, plug in the usb, put the battery in, wait for the charging screen then i can turn it on and remove the usb. However, when the phone is running it says USB connected even though there is no usb cable connected. If i leave the usb cable plugged in while the phone turns on i can use ADB but cannot mount as drive.
Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks
tldr; phone constantly says usb connected. Cannot mount as drive. Cannot use adb unless phone boots with usb connected.
Sounds like a broken usb port. Get a Warranty replacement.
Well darn.
I had read a thread about possible corrosion of the usb contacts on the phone so i used an emery board to clean the contacts but no luck. i guess it will have to go in for warranty repair on monday.

The handful of stock Froyos I've worked with all had sticky USB notification after use in development mode. They'd be unconnected but the icon and message remained.
If you can't do the extra clicks for mounting when the message is valid and connected; that plus your booting problem points to a port malfunction.

Well this problem drives me crazy.
My phone (i9070) doesn't make any sound when I plug it on my computer or charger and no charging indication appears either on the phone.
On computer side device appears under the storage devices.
However is seems that the power connection is working since if I restart the phone while the power plug is still connected the charging indicator appears. In addition after the restart the battery seems to reach 100% extremely soon (which is not normal at all). Unplugging the charger (or the computer) doesnt detected either by phone, the charging indicator is still active until restart.
I tried to factory reset the device and still "no juice".
I have tried 3 different cables with two computers where the device was connected few days ago without any problem.
I don't know what should I suspect.
Faulty battery? Faulty data connection on phone plug? OS based issue?
Any ideas?

What ROM and what kernel you are using?
Sent from my GT-I9070 using Tapatalk
Sorry forgot to mention these info:
Kernel
3.0.31-CoCore-EP-8.2
Updated to 8.2 after the problems I had CoCore 8.0 until the problem appeared.
ROM
LightJB v1.2
I used to work with JellyMod v4.0 until the problem appeared and I switched to LIghtJB v1.2 to test if the problem fixed but the same behavior here.
Should I replace my battery?
Is there any way to check if the USB connection gets detected by the phone hardware (a diagnostic procedure)?

Put the phone in download mode, connect to PC via USB cable and open Odin. If the phone connects, I recommend a reflash with one firmware.

Computer doesn't detect any device either.
Any ideas?

Is it charging? Bad cable? Change USB port on PC, put it in some other.
You said you have charging problems? It is not shown (in phone, procentage is not going up) or it is not charging at all?
Luckily for u it's a broken flex (cheap) it costs $10 including tools to fix it yourself on ebay

Hi All,
I also have the same problem.....
Can anyone help me.....
Hello,
I am getting a big problem with my HTC one here, it won't charge. It's been a problem I had for like two weeks, when I messed up the installation of a kernel. I don't know if it's related or if it's just a coincidence, but it has never happened before.
So here is what happened. I make a backup of my rom ( pranoid 4.6 BETA-2) and then install the kernel. I install it and it fails ( can't boot ) because I messed up the choice of the kernel. So I restore my backup and then boot.
Later that day I put my phone to charge, one my computer, and notice that it doesn't really charge. Like I plug the USB cable in, it charges for a few seconds, like maybe 5 but can be up to 30, it's random) and then just stop charging. And if I plug the USB cable out of my phone and put it again, it will charge again, but if I plug in and out of my comp it won't.
I tried charging it with wall adapter, same deal. But the major thing that make me almost sure that it's not hardware, if I plug it on my comp, even when the phone stops to charge, it will continue to detect and be able to access USB storage.
I wiped and flash everything I could and it stopped, just like that and started working normally again. Happened an other time, during the whole afternoon, and then worked again.
But happened to me yesterday and still haven't been able to charge it.
So I came here for help, hope some of you can help me fix this.
Thanks
if you think that this is not the hardware problem, you can try to flash RUU.
Find RUU for your CID and flash it via fastboot.
I assume, that your PC sees your phone in fastboot, right?
If you will have any questions, PM to me, coz I'm not all the time at Q&A here
I have a T-Mobile Note 4 with RAPTURE ROM installed, and about a month ago I noticed that it wasn't charging very fast ("USB" charging speed even when plugged in with original charger and cable). When plugged into a PC, even in ODIN mode, all I get is "USB Device Not Recognized".
I had a phone repair shop replace the charging port, thinking that was the problem, yet it still persists. I really have no ability to test if it's a ROM issue, because to go back to full stock requires that ODIN recognizes the phone...
Any suggestions? I have searched high and low and can't find a resolution. I even tried restoring to an earlier TWRP backup with a different ROM and also got the same result.
the easy way to test if it is a rom issue or usb issue, boot your phone odin mode, and connect to computer, if computer recognized your phone, then better change your rom, if same issue then your phone may have hardware issue.
most repair shop check only usb charging after they fix it. they dont check computer connectivity.
based on my experience, your phone charging port is not working, some pins aren't touching the board. but the positive and negative pin for charging are OK.
You should take it back to the shop to double check it again.
Hey everyone,
I'm having some major issues with my Galaxy S6. I'm running XtreStoLite Deo Mod 2.4.
Here are the issues I'm facing:
-plug phone to factory charger, often doesn't even realize it's plugged in, even if I wiggle the chord around
-if phone starts charging, it will only very rarely fast charge, most of the time it will just show "cable charging" with the stock charger
-phone no longer gets recognized as USB storage device on computer, the few times that the computer detects its presence, it'll show up as a Warning saying USB Device not recognized
I haven't tried a factory reset yet, but has anyone run into those issues before and it turned out to not be a hardware problem? Although the phone has never been physically damaged, I'm suspecting the phone's USB port to have gone bad. But I'm also wondering if the custom ROM/kernel could be the culprit considering that it's after all software (drivers) that control the behavior of the phone. I'd like to hear what you guys think before I do the inevitable (factory reset) and then happily send a Knox tripped phone to Samsung if it still doesn't work.
Thanks!
Try a new usb cable. Some are only meant for charging and not data transfer, so it won't work on your PC. Also, some cables won't fast-charge either.

1. Try Reinstall kernel you can find on xda (important don't forget wipe dalvik wipe cash after) 2 if not help 1st. Download again ROM / reinstall (probably corrupt and hopefully) insert rom on external usb / connect through otg / twrp - wipe advance settings - tick all boxes except external memory which is usb otg / wipe - install complete fresh (if no usb otg - place rom on Internal and in twrp/ advance wipe don't tick internal box). and of course before start check cable and charger if you sure on 99% problem is not there then start reinstalling procedure - I had something similar, I just fresh download and completely fresh reinstall (twrp / wipe / advance setting...) and problem gone

Erased everything as in "factory reset" ?
Pp.
Also download USBDeview and run it on your PC. Delete everything that remotely looks like it might be related to your phone. When you plug the phone back in, your PC will see it as a new device.
