How to root one click Nexus 6 LMY47M - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do I root with one click easy method nexus 6 LMY47M?

It can be done but that leaves you with a locked bootloader which opens you up to a world of pain, so we recommend against it..

It can. I can name the tool that does it but I think naming it in the open is asking for trouble. Particularly if people think they're getting a quick fix.

For what? Flashlight/Tether available without rooting. Updates to froyo available without rooting.
Unless he's a developer with a need for root access, why?

because if he doesnt root, he will burn in that white notification bar causing merpanent image sticking to the pixels at the top of his screen. rooting will let him use a black notification bar. seriously, that's the main reason why i rooted and suggest others to as well. i would wait till his 14 day period is over though. however it only took my phone less than 1 month to already show pixels wear of the notification bar.
i'm curious if he sees any on his brand new unit already.

[Q] Xposed Framework with No Root?

Is this at all possible? I've looked around for answers, and this thread suggests it's possible. But everywhere else I've looked says you MUST be rooted. Having Xposed would sure make our AT&T non-rooted S5's much more bearable! Any thoughts?
Xposed framework requires root. Plus many of the modules use root as well.

Some do work without being rooted. Ultimate Dynamic Navbar (udn) and Cool Tool both work and they are on Play. They don't need to have xposed framework installed either. Some people will never know if they don't try and they are not helping you by just making a blanket 'that will never work' statement. Anyway check them out they will keep you busy for a while..they are both good apps..have fun!

Android 5.1.1 OTA being rolled out on T-Mobile for the S6 edge!

RELEVANT TO US BECAUSE WHEN WE GET THE UPDATE, IT LOCKS THE BOOTLOADER.
IF THEY LOCK IT FOR THE S6 EDGE, THEY'LL LOCK IT FOR THE S6!
DO NOT TAKE THE OTA IF YOU DON'T WANT A LOCKED BOOTLOADER.
Unassuming Galaxy S6 edge users are in for a surprise, as T-Mobile appears to be rolling out a freshly cooked OTA based on Android version 5.1.1 Lollipop for the device. The catch, however, it is so far reported only on the T-Mobile network.
XDA forums user Sunderwear mentioned about the OTA a couple of hours back (at the time of writing this story). Urged by other users of the device, the poster also uploaded a video of his Galaxy S6 edge running the latest firmware. The video can be found at the end of this article.
As noted from the narration, the update also locks the bootloader on the device.
So, how many of you have already received the update? What do you think of it?
Source: http://www.sammobile.com/2015/04/29/android-5-1-1-ota-being-rolled-out-on-t-mobile-for-the-s6-edge/
Looks like someone in the Edge forum was able to downgrade the bootloader and flash TWRP but still, tread carefully.

Coming from the ROM Flashing mecca of HTC and finding a place in Samsung is.. weird to say the least. I find that there are only minor things I need that require root but I no-longer need the overhaul that I needed with HTC. It's too weird.

BOOM. Bootloader news is great news
Isn't it odd that just one guy has gotten the update? T-mobile has sold hundreds of thousands of these units and only one guy got an OTA?
I'll believe it when I see it.
Is it possible to do the update if we are rooted? And I mean UPDATE not flash the entire new release.

This type of thing might happen with a lot of updates. You need to remember the rooting/moding community is very small compared to the people who just use their phone as is. So if anything I think its weird that someone in this community got the update.
Hey I hope it's true, I for one hope it fixes the memory management and battery issues.
According to this guy, it looks like the XDA member was part of a "Soak Test", or he is a guinea pig. Hopefully it doesn't take months to test it.

Damn I wish this would leak for AT&T. 5.0.1 TW has a bigger memory leak than stock 5.0.1 on my Nexus. This needs to be rolled out ASAP, but I know it won't.

It seems like the person got a test release by accident. The kernel build date is yesterday. No one else over on the edge forums has received it either. Dont seem to be false as the person even posted a vid of it. Dude just seems lucky lol.

Well the ota update was dated 4/27 and the phone was released on 4/28

Will anything past OE2 ever get Root? (OG5,OG7,etc..)

Anyone know of any active developement regarding the 925V variant? Way too nice not to have root.
There is zero development.
Zero KNOWN progress. Who knows for sure though. King root might work for us one day or it might not.
There wasn't much development on my tmboile s5 either. What phones do have good development these days?
I guess mostly just Nexus devices.

I've stuck with my ATT Note3 on TMO, and TMO Note4. My son has a Sprint S6 Edge on TMO and it has surprisingly quite a bit of development. If I knew anything regarding locked vs. unlocked BL's I'd have a go with this 925V. Just really surprised at the lack of development for this device. Sucks!
Unfortunately, it seems that we've been left in the dark. Surely one of the many devs would have a thread going with some sort of progress update if any were working on it.
@spadz93 That's kinda what I'm thinking. Too bad. I use way too many root functions to even consider keeping my 925V. Really nice hardware either way. I'll probably look for a TMO variant.
Verizon sucks anyway. Worst service I've ever had. I liked T-Mobile way better. I have constant dropped calls, missed texts etc with Verizon.
I would pay good money to have some development for this device... without development, its useless... anyone interested? pm me =]

I wouldn't go so far as to call it useless... It's still a solid phone with decent hardware. Just because you can't root it and install custom ROMs doesn't make it useless. I'm more interested in a phone that works consistently everyday than I am the ability to push the hardware to the point of random reboots and overheating. Once I gave up root for 5.1 I've had next to zero issues with the phone and I like it much more.

Yea, my statement is a little exaggerated but no xposed is huge for me personally. I like to play with my phone and customize it. Without root and xposed, I can't do that like I could with my s4 so it bothers me
What upsets me is the fact that devs give up trying to root a phone if a solution doesn't come within a month or two, if the phone is the only variant that still doesn't have a root and it will take more effort than a few tweaks to do it. I've seen it over and over again with so many phones. If I knew how to even begin to look for a root on the phone and I had the money to buy phones that I could burn in the process, then I'd totally work at it.
what I dont understand is theres ppl with the Note 4 that are able to root 5.1.1 using King Root and no one has tried it on any firmware beyond OE2 for us yet..
I know one person said it worked for him on OF1 but need more to confirm before I update and update all my ROMs.
