My brother just got an atrix hd from a guy at work. The phone will not boot into normal, recovery, or anything else besides the AP Fastboot mode. in the AP fastboot screen the text says:
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)
10.9B(*) (sha-2e68372, 2012-11-17 23:3308)
eMMC info: size 8GB
Device is LOCKED, Status Code:0
Battery OK
Transfer Mode:
USB Connected
Fastboot Reason: Boot menu selected
From what my brother knows the guy had the phone in his lunchbox and when he got home from work and tried to turn it on this is what the phone was doing.
Is there something i can try or a way to flash a system image? I've rooted, unlocked the bootloader and installed custom roms on a variety of phones and im sure i can get this phone straightened out if i was just pointed in the right direction. Thanks for any and all the help! its greatly appreciated!!!

Well, firstly, you need to unlock its bootloader IMMEDIATELY then you can try other action (reflash stock roms, etc..). Using Myth Tools is recommended in the post above.
After unlocking bootloader, you can try to download stock firmware from here:
Then flash it with Myth Tools (recommend) or RSDLite
If you satisfy with stock one, just keep it and do further mods or you can flash custom recovery before flashing custom roms.
That's my recommendation but you need to do the FIRST step is Unlocking Bootloader right now
Hope it helps.
DK
I can't even root it, the phone shuts off if disconnected from a charger. And even when on the charger it keeps boot looping.

The boot looping which you mean is going to the fastboot mode, right?
Did you try to enter bootmenu (turn off phone, hold both vol + and vol - then press press powermenu to turn on) and select "normal powerup"?
Can you tell me whether your phone has ATT logo on its screen's bottom?
Maybe flashing back to its correct original firmware by RSDLite can help to bring it back then we can root and unlock bootloader.
But we need to know exactly which is its original firmware before it stucks there.
I've got it fixed...turns out the battery was bad. So luckily I switched it out with an atrix HD with a broken screen we had and it booted right up so I rooted, unlocked the bootloader and flashed the stock logo and a custom ROM. All smiles now! Thanks for everyone's help!

Having a issue with bootlooping, I unlocked the bootloader. I tried to install stock firmware but the phone doesnt even get past the motorola symbol it justs goes blank that tries to boot again. I can get it in to fastboot though. Its ATT version, is there anyway I can fix it?
Did Myth complete the flashing process? Have you tried using RSD lite to flash stock?

Some of you guys are like GOD MODE ON but i get buy, and really was just trying to help someone. (i haven't even cashed her check) so i tell her hey 15 bucks a phone i'll change the glass if you buy the parts.. grrr my mistake. i got this atrix hd. all i did was change the digitizer and now it hangs at the at&T screen... i tried RSD and flashed successfully, i tried myth and flashed successfully. i have no idea whats wrong with this POS.. i can get in fast boot and recovery ok. Does this phone need a sim in for first boot? i'm loosing my mind, i can't help but wonder if it's the new chinese digitizer, I wish i could get a system log outta this thing to see how it's hanging up.... any help would be greatly appreciated.

What ROM was on there before you changed the digitizer? Have you tried flashing a custom recovery and a custom ROM?

There's a chance that it could be the digitizer. About a week ago I replaced my Dad's digitizer and I read a crap ton of reviews before purchasing the one I did. Of the bad ones, a few had people complaining about it not working, most were the top 10% of the screen wouldn't respond to touches (like swiping down the nonfiction drawer), and I saw a couple describing your situation.
If you never had a custom rom installed, were rooted, or had the bootloader unlocked before doing this, I doubt that there's anything you can flash that'll fix this. If the bootloader was unlocked before doing this and there was a custom rom installed on the phone, you might have to flash Philz CWM, format the internal sd, and change its mount point to /data/media then format it again. Not changing the internal sd mount point after flashing a fastboot when coming from custom 4.2+ roms causes bootloops.
This is the digitizer I used to fix my Dad's Atrix HD last week. He hasn't had a problem with it whatsoever. My Dad is an ass of the highest degree so I'd know with a loud angry voice if there was ANY minor issue with it.

Ok so there are multiple questions to answer here.
#1 i do not recall which rom was on the phone.. although it appears it was the lastest AT&T as RSD re-Flashed it with a pass. I suppose i should have checked but i've never ran in to this situation. I was just changing the glass out.... you remove about 16 screws, pop the glass out and put a new one it...
#2 the customer does not want the phone rooted or moded, just stock
#3 the bootloader is locked and mythtool instructions are saying you have to be in debugging mode to unlock.... thats not gonna happen cause it don't boot..
So does anyone know if this thing needs a sim for a first boot after an actuall battery pull?
Also..
I unplugged the digitizer and tried to boot thinking hey other phones will boot without the digitizer, but same thing... AT&T Screen and it's hung. everything on this board is shielded.. so i doubt it got ESD zapped, and i did take static potective precautions.
I bet this thing would look good with a .45cal hole in it.

#1 That's what I'd assume...and it's 22 screws with fine threading... And if you're getting the AT&T boot logo after a fastboot flash, the bootloader is locked.
#2 Customer's loss
#3 Never actually tested that, but I've never once needed a sim for it to boot up....actually, my first boot ever might have been sim free...been a year now so I'm not really sure.
And I didn't take static precautions.
You didn't accidentally warp or mess up the motherboard on the blow dryer part of the digitizer swap? Or any unnecessary bending on the board with you were prying the screen from it? Those two are the only "dangerous" parts in any Atrix HD repair...unless someone isn't steady with a screwdriver, then there are 46 "dangerous" parts to the repair.
Next time you power up the phone, hold down both volumes and power to access the boot menu. Use volume down to scroll to recovery and volume up to select it. Once in recovery, do a factory reset as well as any cache or dalvik wipes available. If a fastboot flash and all the wipes in stock recovery don't fix it, I'm not really sure what will aside from a new motherboard -- in which case you're better off spending an extra 20-30 and just getting a used Atrix HD like I did....I mean, 50 for just a motherboard or 80 for the all the hardware plus accessories...not really a hard choice seeing as the customer will at least have some backup repair parts in case something bad happens in the future.
Stock recovery is worthless

did the factory reset and delete cache.. stock recovery doesn't give an option for dalvik cache... can you flash phills with a locked bootloader?

The only thing you can flash with a locked bootloader is your stock rom with fastboot. That's it. When locked, if manually flashing all the partitions, flashing with RSD, wiping everything that can be wiped, and you're still not booting, then the phone is either truly bricked or you're not doing something correctly.
The only exception to the above is if something went bad during the OTA and you have some sort of partition mix up, in which case the official fastboot for the OTA might fix it for you -- there isn't a stock fastboot for the OTA yet.

So this is my first xda thread. I spent hours searching without finding a solution for my particular case.
I am using a LG L90 D415 (T-Mobile version) and I got bored of it and so I started playing with the system (not the first phone I'm doing that with, so I know a bit about that sutff). So I tried to install the new Android L home launcher from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2796019
I did everything like explained, installed it and changed the build.prop like described. But after I rebooted my phone, expecting a new home launcher, the phone boots, I am at the lockscreen, but after like 4 seconds I receive multiple errors (like gapps stopped working) and than everything freezes and it reboots.
Unfortunaly I didn't install a recovery or unlocked fastboot. So I can access download mode, but that's it. My computer doesn't see my phone (because usb debugging deactivated?) and so I don't know what to do. I think that's a pretty tough case but I hope some smart person can help me
Thank you

No custom recovery and no fastboot? Factory reset is your only option. See this post. Scroll down to Q14. Even though it's titled something else, the same button presses apply for your device in it's current state, ie; no recovery, no fastboot

First thanks for the fast answer. So I figuered that I only need to delete the build.prop file and replace it with my backup file. Isn't there any way to rescue my files and/or access the /system folder? I'm an exchange student now and I don't wanna lose my picture memories
And btw I know that I build the perfect worst case scenario right now
Oh and in the L90 faq it says that when you flashed a recovery and you navigate to factory reset it won't reset but boot into recovery. Does something like this work even without recovery, so I could try doing stuff with adb?

If adb isn't detecting the phone, no. There isn't any other way.

Unfortunately, no.
Factory reset will not erase your sdcard. It will however erase internal data. It will return the phone to the state it was in the first time it was powered on.
Has anyone noticed a new boot animation pushed out by Motorola?
I'm sitting at work today and all of the sudden I have triangles in my notification bar and it says data blocked and voice blocked. I ignored it because I don't get reception in my office but when I got outside my service never came back so I reboot the phone. I immediately notice a new boot animation.....Only one problem.....My phone will only show my my live wallpaper after boot and nothing else. It wont let me do anything....Shows my notifications on the lock screen but when I unlock I get my live wallpaper and nothing else.
Any ideas? Did anyone get this new animation?
Here is the new animation, I didn't upload this......https://youtu.be/4NgbsuXA2rY

Thanks a lot mate ????
So again this happened.......New animation and my phone is now stuck and wont boot up completely.
After the new animation gets pushed my entire phone loses service and when I reboot I have nothing.
I have a custom boot up picture instead of the ugly device unlocked message, does that have anything to do with it? Can't do anything, it just sits at a black screen and shows notifications but wont react or open them.
I am having the same issue. Has anybody had a luck resolving it short of a factory reset?
My phone battery died last night. I plugged my phone in, let it get about 15% charge, then tried to turn it back on. The phone boots like normal, but after the boot animation goes away, the screen is black. Active notifications still seem to work, and I can hold the power button to get the Power Down option. I can boot into the bootloader & access recovery just fine. However, my phone is fully stock (no root, no bootloader unlock, no anything). I can't seem to access ADB when the phone is powered normally (ie, when I'm at this mysterious black screen), but it's possible that USB debugging isn't even enabled.
So far, I've found a bunch people who've said a full factory reset will fix the problem, but I'm looking for another solution, or at least a way to grab my data before I reset. Since my bootloader's still locked, I can't seem to use fastboot boot to boot into TWRP, and I can't find any other way to access my data to copy it off the phone. I've tried wiping the cache using the stock recovery to no avail. Any suggestions?
My Honor 4X (which was never rooted) is now stuck in the "Honor" screen. Prior to this, the phone was working well and I just turned it off so I can insert a new simcard and has been like that since then.
I had a few instances last night and early this morning when my phone somehow booted and it showed a white screen saying that the "user partition has crashed - or something similar to that". In that screen I had the option to backup my data among others and the "phone settings" was still accessible from the drop down menu. I tried to choose the backup option but nothing happened. Now, I am not even able to go back to that screen anymore and my phone is now perennially stuck in the "Honor" screen. There are a few photos in my internal storage that I need to retrieve. Is it still possible to retrieve them? What do I do next?
Thank you for your help!

Hello. My boot loader is locked (I think) as I've not done anything to customize my phone since I bought it more than a year ago. I don't know my version and build number. Is there any way I can check the version and build number even if I can't open it at the moment?

Thank you! I gave up trying not to "wipe the partition and cache" to save my files. I figured I wouldn't be able to save my entire phone if I don't try to wipe it so I just did. However, I did not flash a stock rom, instead I reverted to factory settings which made my phone work for a while. It was so slow and kept on hanging so I decided to upgrade to Marshmallow using the dload process. It worked for a while until while I was trying to connect using Syncdroid, this white screen suddenly showed up saying:

Attention!
Please update the system again
Func NO: 10 (boot image)
Error NO: 2 (load failed!)
I couldn't do anything on my phone until the battery just drained. How do I fix this now?

Did you fix your issue ?
Did you try to unlock your boot loader ?
Hi, sorry for the bad english. My Xiaomi Note 11 worked perfectly fine for months since I bought it, but last night I accidentally left it charging for the whole night and when I woke up, it suddenly rebooted to recovery mode. I rebooted it back to system, which reboots the phone as usual, then I unlocked the lockscreen, everything went perfectly normal, until it rebooted again to recovery mode. I tried rebooting again, but it rebooted again to recovery mode after I unlocked the lockscreen. I tried booting it to safemode, but it went the same way. However, when I leave the lockscreen unlocked, it doesn't reboot itself. I tried turning it off and rebooting it with the screen unlocked but it did nothing. Do you guys ever have the same problem? Is there any way to fix it without wiping the data? I have some banking apps and other data that would be difficult to recover if I were to wipe out the phone.
I have the same problem too, I think it might have to do with the new update Xiaomi pushed to European devices in the last few days. We'll have to wait and see if they push a fix/if we find a fix...
Exact same problem, started appearing today. This is so weird. I already wiped data and the problem persists; went thorough the setup with no issue, and as soon as I finished it and the phone goes to the main screen, after a few seconds it started appearing again.

It's really weird that it happens to other people too!

I have the same problem too, I think it might have to do with the new update Xiaomi pushed to European devices in the last few days. We'll have to wait and see if they push a fix/if we find a fix...

Did a second data wipe and it worked this time, the phone's been running all night without any issue. I disabled xiaomi updates for the time being
Same issue here, please any solution, I've not been able to do anything since 48 hours
Is there a way to go through this without losing my data and files?
same problem i will try to wipe data again and see if it works

Can you give us an update if it works? I also post the problem on Reddit and some people there were also able to fix it by wiping the data.
Will wiping the data fix the issue, if it does, please do let us know

I found a way to do so. The problem is that once the phone is unlocked you have a few minutes before it gets booted into recovery mode. So:
Step 1) Have the phone connected to a computer before booting it up, with file explorer in the "this pc" category (where the phone storage will appear)
Step 2) boot the phone and input the password (if any)
Step 3) QUICKLY pull down the notification bar and press the usb options notification
Step 4) QUICKLY press the second option for file transferring
Step 5) QUICKLY open phone storage from pc once it pops up (at this point the phone screen will probably be black with a white loading circle but the phone storage is still accessible!!! You now have a few minutes to transfer any data you want)
Step 6) QUICKLY search through phone storage for any important data and copy/paste it to your computer
Sooner or later the phone will be booted to recovery mode and the mi logo will appear and the phone storage will disappear from the computer so repeat above steps until all your data is backed up.
If a file transfer gets stopped while running, copy/paste the data again on the next "run" and choose to ignore files that are already copied. With this method I managed to backup all my photos and files before wiping the phone.
This problem might be due to a problematic firmware update. My phone was running MIUI version 13.0.12(RGKEUXM) (europe version). I wiped the data and updated my phone to version 13.0.13(RGKEUXM) after setting it up just in case. I will update this thread if the problem reappears.
I am running RGCMIXM (13.0.16.0) and have encountered the issue. Really annoying. Did the wipe all and had no success. I hope someone can help find a fix. No feedback on the issue i logged thru the feedback app to Xiaomi.

Which wipe method did you do? Just a factory reset or a reflash?
